Ik zag dat de waarde van de Cryptsy shares laatst ook flink omhoog was gegaan tot ergens in de 0,07x BTC. Erg gunstig voor de aandeelhouders  . Wat ook erg gunstig is, is volgens mij de activiteit nu op Cryptsy. Je lees continu over het bijprikken van servers, het aannemen van nieuwe personeelsleden en dergelijke. Volgens mij worden er nu recordvolumes bereikt daar, wat positief uitwerkt voor de share holders (waartoe ik helaas nog niet behoor) Ik heb de shares nog voor 0.05 gekocht en ze staan nu rond de 0.07, dus gaat lekker.  Cryptsy krijgt steeds meer traffic, vooral nu exchanges zoals MCXNow scams blijken te zijn. Ze lijken flink aan de weg te timmeren en er is ook bekend wie er achter de exchange zit ipv een anoniem persoon of team. Zolang ze blijven groeien en ze nog een redelijk dividend betalen hou ik m'n shares vast. Sinds mcxnow heb ik ook een slecht gevoel bij cryptsy, kan iemand mij dit gevoel wegnemen of zijn er meerdere? |

Yes was er al van op de hoogte. Mijn timing was echt geniaal. Ik dacht he dat is leuk ik heb net wat coins via faucets en ging er storten (echt een minimaal bedrag lager dan de fee om te withdrawen). Ik kijk de volgende ochtend. Boem, dikke message. Gelijk weer geattendeerd op de betrouwbaarheid van sites met Bitcoins. Ik hou het nu alleen bij de echte grote jongens (BTC-e, kraken etc.). Yeah depends on when you spend it. The value increased so quickly that only one month old purchases already look ridiculous !

I personally stay away from "Advising" family members to buy into investments. You don't wanna get into that territory if things don't turn out well. Instead i provide them with "consultation" and leave them to decide on their own.
The only people i advise for investments are those who pay me for it.
But what if you advise it completely wrong? Then you don't want to be in that situation as well right? |

I propose we name 0.001 btc a "gox", in honor to Mt.Gox. Let's take the following example:
"I want to sell my car for 20 gox."
Advantages:
- It sounds nice and rolls off the tongue nicely
- Mt.Gox played an important role in the history of Bitcoin
- It's short and easy to type
- It is unique and cannot be confused with other currencies
- Sounds similar to "bucks"
Disadvantages:
- It's not possible to infer that gox refers to 0.001 btc if you see it for the first time

I think it's important to understand what is going on. This is only my opinion, but feel free to correct or add anything. IMO altcoins got popular for these reasons: - lots of newbies with regret and (incorrect) thinking in style "I missed the boat with bitcoin, what is the next big thing"
- pumps & dumps are much easier done with altcoins and on newbies
- GPU miners lost their profits when FPGAs and ASICs arrived and had to switch to something else. They suddenly became incentivized to promote altcoins
- all cryptocurrencies are currently more than 90% speculation. The network effect, that Erik Voorhees is talking about, is only semi-valid at the moment. When Bitcoin price will reach its full potential and the system becomes more like a transactional currency, network effect will cause the value to (finally) concentrate in one currency
- hype-price feedback
I see these reasons as the "perfect storm", the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. But it is also not sustainable. Newbies will learn the fundamentals, suckers from pumps & dumps will learn from their mistakes, the mining aspect will lose power (professionalization), built infrastructure will make Bitcoin more usable for day-to-day transactions. TL;DR: don't fall for altcoins, unless you really understand the reasons for owning them You can fall for altcoins, but just don't spend money on it. That's more the thing I think. There are plenty of giveaways on the internet, so if you want to experience with altcoins I suggest you do that. LTC can't be ignored tho. I think this one will be the steady 2nd.
