101  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: hashkill - testing bitcoin miner plugin on: June 07, 2011, 12:28:52 PM
hi,

Running the latest version here with:

./hashkill-gpu -G2 -D -p bitcoin xxx:xxx:xx...

However I get a little less MH/s than with phoenix (~275), and lots of stales?

Speed: 270 MHash/sec [proc: 86] [subm: 70] [stale: 22] [eff: 81%]

2.4 sdk, radeon 5850, 64bit  ubuntu 11.04

any ideas what could be wrong?

Did you underclock your memory? From what I did observe it seems as hashkill can suffer a noticable performance impact if memory is downclocked.

nope, running 5850 with stock clock/mem, haven't had time yet to play around with the clocks...
102  Bitcoin / Mining / Problem with additional GPUs in Ubuntu? on: June 07, 2011, 12:21:19 PM
I set up Ubuntu x64 with the 2.4 SDK successfully following this guide:

http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=9239.0;all

It's working just fine with one 5850. Now I added a second 5850 and the system doesn't seem to be able to access it:

Code:
aticonfig --odgt --adapter=all

Adapter 0 - ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 50.00 C
ERROR - Get temperature failed for Adapter 1 - ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series

same thing happens with miners, they simply work with gpu0 but not with gpu1 (or both).

Do I need some additional configuration for the additional gpu?

thanks.

I assume the page is still auto-refreshing, so the title actually gets automatically updated?

Nope, not anymore.

How about updating the title every 5 mins with js?

I've redone most of the stats, hopefully the code is more flexible / clean now. Also, rrdtool is gone !

Feedback appreciated here, by email or on IRC. And, of course, donations are still accepted. Thanks !

please bring back the total (unpaid+current estimate) amount in the title.

makes for quick status checking in the browser tab without having to open the tab.

otherwise, nice stats Wink

It's your choice.

Objectively, Eligius is better because it has practically no fee, and it has some of the nicest ( Grin ) stats available.

oh yeah, I like the stats, but I would like them even better if they showed more earnings Wink

the other thing I really like is that there's no need to signup, using your bc address simply makes sense!

It is just bad luck. EU is a relatively small pool, some variance is to be expected.

so the big question is, should I stay or should I go now..?

stick with it and hope for better than average? or move to a bigger pool...
109  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Please test: New Experimental Pool "Eligius" on: June 02, 2011, 03:09:00 PM
The estimate isn't per 24 hours, it's per-block; right now, Europe should find a block on average every 21 hours, which works out to 0.41 BTC every 24. You should see your estimate creep up (possibly slowly) toward the point where it reaches the full .56 BTC per 24 hours (which would be .49 BTC per 21).

sorry to keep bringing up the same topic again, I just want to make sure I understand what's going on.

it's now exactly 72 hours of nonstop 240mh/s going to the eu-eligius pool. hashrate shows up in the pool statistics just fine, with the expected variations but pretty close on average.

now my total earnings for these 3 days are 0.8 BTC, whereas the calculator estimates 1.68 for this time.

Is this just bad luck with the pool? would switching to a larger pool (us eligius or one of the other bigger ones) help me getting (much) closer to the estimated rewards? less than half is kinda depressing Wink
110  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Please test: New Experimental Pool "Eligius" on: May 31, 2011, 01:50:11 PM
Take the total hashing power of the EU pool and figure out what fraction of that you are contributing. That will be the maximum return you can get per block after it is split up from the 50btc. You were climbing up to that percent but cannot go above that without adding more hashing power therefore increasing the percent you are contributing.

thanks for the concise and clear explanation!

however that means something is off with my calculations: the bitcoin mining calculator shows .56 btc per 24 hours of 240mh/s, whereas on the pool it's only .36, which is a big enough difference to question rentability...

pretty new to mining -- started using the eu eligius pool yesterday, and for the first 12 hours the rate climbed as expected. but starting this morning the expected earning curve slowly flattens out and is now almost horizontal == no new earnings are being added at all. hashing rate has been a almost constant 240mh/s for the past 24 hours.

can anyone explain this behavior to me?
