101  Economy / Lending / Re: Medium Loan Request - 10-15% Interest, 30-45 days, Collateral and Escrow on: December 22, 2014, 07:23:47 AM
Honeypot has repaid the entire loan of 3.388 btc. There were some problems that delayed the repayment until now rather than the 14th, but they were banking issues and were not Honeypot's fault. Maidak is now free to return the collateral. Thank you for your business. Smiley

I deeply thank you for your understanding, and once again appreciate you lending in my loan contract.

Next loan offering will be kept under much tighter supervision. This offer has now matured, and concluded Smiley

Thank you again!
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please can you tell us all the new coins coming in and IPOs to invest on: December 22, 2014, 02:36:04 AM
I would highly recommend you take a look at Jason L. Curby's (rofo) project NobleNXT (NOXT) here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=841741.0;all

He has been public since January 2014 with his identity, doing things professionally and openly all this time. It's a powerful statement to his integrity and motivation.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NobleCoin[NOBL] - Redefining 2015 - Colored Coin 'Fuel' [NOXT/NOCC] on: December 22, 2014, 02:32:07 AM
I'm reluctant releasing just this info. so far considering our history with PoS. High PoS (of which we were meant to be a member of) reputation is in shambles after the last few months. I'm thinking 10%-15%. I just want standard and attractive 'normal'/'safe'/middle-ground variables and go from there. I'm sure discussions and demands for forks will follow for next year but lets just get a new wallet and PoS resolved.

10%-15% is a great range , beats most things in the physical world hands down.
IMO the lowest a POS rate could go is 5%, anything below that and you are better off with utility stocks that pay out ~5%.
Depending on how many days you set to hold the coin before it receives a POS reward, some people that do more trading , usually will not keep the coins long enough to gain the interest, so whatever rates you do decide on, your actual rate for the year will always be a little lower.

 Cool

P.S.
Glad it worked out for You & PalmDetroit.

Hello to the noble community and "thank you" to the genius who dumped on bittrex today to 6sat, giving me finally the opportunity to buy significant amounts below 10sat, which I was trying since 4 weeks now (I had already given up hope and started buying higher).

I wouldnt call any POS rate an "interest rate" and I would never buy a coin based on the rate, as contrarily to the "real" world, POS rates are simply chosen but are not based on any economics. Most coins arent even around after a year and 20% "interest" doesnt mean anything if the market cant absorb the minted coins and the price plummets. In a couple of years I would like to see the POS rates linked to the coin's economy (I dont mean that vrc thingy), but right now the most important thing is to give people an incentive to stake their coins and secure the network. Some will disagree, but I think the rate shouldnt be lower than 5%. I never bother to open my bc wallet, the POS rate is 1%. Something like 8-10% sounds about right.

About min coin age I prefer a lower one. If it is too high, people like me will never stake their coins as I am constantly trading, but moving my coins to my wallets whenever I can. The benefit from trading will almost always outweigh the benfit from staking (at least we like to think that), so with a higher min coin age you wont get more people to stake. I am sure rofo knows much more about that.

On other news, very good day for noxt on polo, seems like fomo has finally arrived. The ICO was a success already. Sure if you compare it to the amount bitbay raised or some other ICOs it may look smaller, but if you substract the amount of coins the devs have bought for free themselves or even given to scammy pumpers like bobsurplus, it looks pretty good (assuming that is not the case here).

To chime in on the comedy news: The bobsurplus is a good one, I read it earlier. The other one for this week is, that our beloved troll barabbas' (you all know him?) is an aging mexican actor called Jose de Vega.

http://www.josedevega.com/

isnt the internet a wonderfull place?

Rofo released/disclosed his personal financial history on the noblemovement website here: https://www.noblemovement.com/public-ledger/

From what anyone can tell the man's been barely surviving AND supporting his crypto projects out of his own pocket, never mind all the transparency with the public ledgers and nobl premine from day 1 (most of which have been spent on various charity projects, give aways, development payments, etc) BEFORE it became popular to do so.

All this, from january of 2014 when the golden age of scams and pump/dumps have been the norm.

I'd say that takes the cake.

Still think its strange that an ico with an actual white paper get much less attention than one with vague promises..

Because it's all smoke and mirrors my friend, from fake amounts raised to promotion/media articles in return for free coins and/or pump targets/info. Some of the questions I've gotten and info. requested in return for aid have also helped me glean more info. on the scene.

That being said I know there are a number of interested parties on the side (as I've said) who have no reason to enter until the last couple of days. The games and smoke and mirrors of altcoins are also a good reason why I prefer the crowd fund help us focus on the government, corporate and financial 'real world' looking inwards rather than bitcointalk and what we currently have to work with 'inside' the scene. Smiley

It might seem that I am quiet but those who have PM'd me and received the apologetic late replies know a lot of my conversations are one-to-one talking to people, sharing ideas and answering questions rather than just blanket promotions. I'd rather work with people and get to know them than quickly sell a dodgy 'product'.

Last couple of days will be interesting - we should see a good pick up of promotion and volume - I'm cautiously optimistic. Smiley

Sounds great!

It's true that allure of quick profit gains greater traction rather than a longer term, professional approach. It's a testament to the legitimacy of the project that you would allow your plans and well-thought out white papers (and your personal informations to boot) to speak for themselves.

Is 504 million the amount you gathered via PMs? According to the paper at 17 SAT the cap is at 588 million.

Yes.

I am also curious about PoS details. You said it was not going to be high PoS. Could you provide more details please? We had an idea in the past about high PoS during first year or first two years and then lowering it. I like it.

That sounds excellent. I always thought the high pos idea was interesting but dubious in terms of possibility.

108  Economy / Economics / Re: USA is now number 2 on: December 18, 2014, 11:52:28 PM
US is number 2 by GDP and GDP alone. By all other economic measures we are far better off than China. China has a much larger population with living standards much lower than here in the US.

PPP, not Nominal GDP that most economists use for measuring economic size.

In other words, your statement is blatantly false.

Maidak always comes through and does his job - and is very affordable.

Reliable, trustworthy, and resourceful. Definitely recommended.
112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Government confiscation on: December 16, 2014, 08:10:52 AM
I keep about 80% of my bitcoins in my Coinbase (US company) online vault, and about 20% online in my BTC-E (foreign company) account.  I always have a teeny tiny worry in the back of mind that I'll wake up one day and the headlines will read "US Government bans Bitcoin, freezes all Bitcoin assets" and I will be unable to access my Coinbase coins.  Am I paranoid?

Yes. I think you might have a tinge of paranoia.

In reality, the bitcoin "caretakers" have all been co-opted by the establishment, and are now, for the most part, under its control. Thus, there would be no reason for the US Government to ban the currency.

This.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NOXT] - NobleNXT Proposal/Whitepaper - Noble's 1st Colored Coin on: December 15, 2014, 03:35:51 AM
yeah, Noxt almost hit 70 BTC.

another whitepaper section for reading would be great in the next days.

Speak of the devil.

Now it's over 72 btc Smiley

Very excite the see the rest of the paper.

Edit: 73 btc Smiley

I'm not surprised by the news, China's population alone enables them to have a bigger economy than ours...it's not like who has the bigger dick, it's who has the greater number of shoppers.

What I don't understand is why all the bashing and negativity to the US economy? What's wrong with the US economy? (I'm talking business here, not politics, not social issues, not national defense issues.)

US businesses brought the world computers, laptops, smart phones, why the negativity?

brought : you used the past. And they are built in china, like most stuff because they are the world producers, they are the best at producing.

Again, confusing 'manufacture' with 'produce'. Also the world knows about 'china quality'.

There are many reasons why foreign companies are moving out of china into more fertile grounds.

I just burned 3M Noblecoins. Rofo, pls tell us when we should send you our NXT wallet ID.

Awesome!

Feel free to burn as much as you wish, and invest btc or nxt in the poloniex or secureae exchanges.

how to mine this coin

It is an asset, and a crowdfund. You buy the issued 'coins' from the exchanges such as secureAE (with nxt) or poloniex (with btc). Search for NobleNxt or NOXT.

China, Africa, Pakistan, India these are the places to be opening up shop right now. The EU and US are just toxic and negative environments. Plus regulation is very laxed in the emerging economies. Think USA during the industrial revolution when literally anyone with a brain could finangle some sort of "services" company and rake in millions. That is exactly whats happening in the emerging economies. Especially Africa, India and Pakistan

You forgot about corruption.....MASSIVE corruption.

draining money in ways which regulations can only dream of. If you experienced them first hand you would know.
