101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As it turns out, Craig Wright actually is Satoshi! on: January 27, 2017, 11:54:17 AM
Just watched Banking on Bitcoin, a great bitcoin documentary that talks a lot about this issue and point to this man I think. Recommend you all see it, available freely you know at many torrent sites and so on...

Fiat, Gold. NEVER to any other altcoins, period.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safety measures in case of huge profit on: January 27, 2017, 11:42:10 AM
The best way is to not convert it back to Euros. Why pay to do that when you can spend the money directly? There are tens of thousands of outlets that take BTC. It is the only money I use online.

This is an answer that caught my eye, since I have a similar dilemma: how to handle Bitcoin spending and tax.

If I buy something from an online store using Bitcoin, is it considered somehow tax free, is it considered some sort of exchanged between goods?
Can somebody enlighten me? Because this would be "too good to be true".

1) Reply to first post of the thread:
Sell a portion when price is highest in say a weeks price range. i.e. sell half your bitcoins at the exchange....wait a few days for a dip and then buy again with all or part of that fiat you have from having sold half before. The point is you don't want to reduce the number of bitcoins because, as someone has said, it is most probable that they will be worth even more in the near or distant future. If you have sold half then bought the same amount of bitcoins when there's a dip, you will still have some fiat cash left which you may spend knowing you are still long on bitcoin as you should be.

2) Reply to post about whether Bitcoin is tax free: Not sure if you are referring to the tax when you buy a product. As far as I know if you buy from any store in Europe that accepts bitcoin they will charge you the normal price, including the sales tax that you would pay normally had you made the purchase with fiat in the first place. That is, they will charge you the price of the product in bitcoin at the equivalent exchange rate of euro to bitcoin they use. So in that sense, no, bitcoin is not going to be like buying duty free like you do at duty free places at airports. Now, if you are referring to some other type of tax, like taax on whatever gains you might have made between price you bought bitcoins and sale price of them...up to you to see that.

Also, regarding spending your bitcoin directly anonymously I think some of the debit bitcoin cards (VISA, MASTERCARD types) have the option of buying unnamed anonymous cards. There's plenty of information in these forums in threads such as
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1242788.0

Also look up halcash which is system to receive fiat from bitcoin at any ATM. Not anonymous for the receiver (person who takes out the fiat from the ATM) because you will have to input your mobile phone number but it can still be handy, also of course bitcoin machines all around Europe...
104  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.95.1 is out on: January 27, 2017, 11:17:42 AM
Armory hasn't been signed like this in a long time.

Follow this guide instead:

https://btcarmory.com/docs/verify

Thanks for the information.
Having a different web address than: https://www.bitcoinarmory.com/download/
makes this a bit scary. Shouldn't this information be on that page? Which is the official armory site ?
Hope you understand my fear.

One question also: If I install armory on ubuntu, do I also have to install bitcoin core first or will armory do that for me?
105  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory 0.95.1 is out on: January 25, 2017, 11:14:18 AM
Hi, trying to verify ubuntu download as per instructions on your site (https://www.bitcoinarmory.com/download/)

When I get to this step:
 $ dpkg-sig --verify *.deb > Processing armory_0.85-beta_amd64.deb... > GOODSIG _gpgbuilder 821F122936BDD565366AC36A4AB16AEA**98832223** 1353699840

I only get:
dpkg-sig --verify *.deb
Processing armory_0.95.1_amd64.deb...

not the part after that "> GOODSIG..."

Please help, using Ubuntu 14.04

Thanks

¿Has probado Bitpay? Llevo tres años usándolo y nunca he tenido ningún problema con ellos.Te ingresan el importe en tu cuenta corriente una vez a la semana. Además, el precio suele ser bastante ajustado.

One thing. If I wish to change bitcoins to say euro so as to make a transfer of euro, what exchange rates are you applying? Any place where I can see the current exchange rates?
Thanks

Before you begin you need to know that:

Over 90% of traders lose money (any market).
You are basically competing with the best mathematicians in the world and their hardware.

Having said that, since you are going to trade anyway, good luck and enjoy your losses ! Grin

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm in my second year of doing this. You don't need any math beyond 1st year calculus and an understanding of first and second derivatives. Most smart high school seniors and any freshman science or engineering major will possess the skills to mitigate losses and make steady progress.

By my charting, 2.9 BTC of my 8.0 were accumulated profits over a span of call it 18 months. Not sophisticated trading. Just understanding the rate of change and rate of rate of change indicators, and keeping track of each small piece of BTC and what was paid for it.

If I were to give an appropriate metaphor, imagine a jigsaw puzzle fully completed, and on the back was a different BTC amount and what was paid for it. Any trade to follow that is a sell, select only those pieces with smaller purchase BTC. You can see how this turns the "mystique" of it all into a game a child could play.

Hahaha, sure, it's so easy that 90% are making money instead of losing...where's the money coming from then I wonder?

112  Economy / Exchanges / Re: List of bitcoin debit cards on: January 06, 2017, 03:08:01 PM
Best idea is to try many cards and then you will choose what is the best for you. Because you will see many opinions here, but only if you try you will understand how this system works.

Thanks. tring out many cards is expensive as they all have an issue and/or activation fee. Guess I will have to research further to decide on one of the two mentioned.
113  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Anonymous Bitcoin debit card without verification on: January 05, 2017, 10:48:37 PM
Asked their support to confirm that this virtual non-reloadable cards are not from wave crest so may be this cards could be good alternative for all bitcoin debit cards providers that are issuing bitcoin debit cards under wave crest and after updates in their KYC policy recently they want verification to use those cards in skrill and paypal. I may give this a try however i haven't used or heard about them before.

Price for virtual card also looks quite high.
So, is the card from Wavecrest or not? I've been looking for other card issuers that is not Wavecrest.

This seems like a good card, but I don't like that the validity is for 60 days only and it can't be topped-up. The max card balance is only up to $200.
And there is also no option to send remaining funds to ewallet.

Also, @OP, how much exactly did you pay for each card? I don't understand what this means -> 4.99%+4.99 USD ?? Is that 5% of $200 plus $5? Thanks.

May I ask what is the problem with Wavecrest?; asking because I am considering a card that IS issued by Wavecrest (Coinsbank's). Thanks

Hi trying to decide, narrowed down my choices now to two cards:

Cryptopay and Coinsbank

Any pros and cons from anyone that has experience with these?

PS: Yes, I have looked at many of the others but for example I found too many "issues" reported for Uquid and Xapo; maybe they are both OK now don't know, but need to make a decision so sticking first to the first two mentioned.

Any comments appreciated, thanks
115  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] COINSBANK.COM launches Universal Crypto Solution at Money2020 Europe on: January 05, 2017, 10:21:37 PM
If wanting to get a named plastic card and fund the account with bitcoin, would I then have a balance of all the bitcoin I sent into the card? Suppose so since on the site it says no fees.
Now, what I want is the card for euro payments physically (POS) and online. Would I need to change the bitcoins to Euro before I make purchases, or is the conversion done at the time of purchase? The fee would be 3% for the exchange from bitcoin to euro? But what bitcoin price is used ?

By default, your card is connected directly to all of your CoinsBank wallets, thus your card operations just withdraw money from your CoinsBank balance.
We convert currencies in real-time if needed (thus you can feed your card operations even from your Bitcoin/Litecoin balances) at the rate specified in the top. Exchange fee 3% is taken only if your card’s currency doesn’t match transaction currency (e.g.your card currency is EUR, but purchase currency is USD).

thanks, sorry, I might have asked the same question in another thread today also; such a confusion with all the different cards...
When you say "the rate specified at the top", is this something (the current rate) I can see somewhere right now so as to compare with the market prices at the usual bitcoin exchanges or only if I'm registered? Do you use the market prices of a specific exchange or bitpay or another tird party? Really the point of the question is want to see if I may lose much in the exchange if the rate Coinbase applies is worse than the real market prices at the exchanges? Thanks
116  Economy / Exchanges / Re: CoinsBank Card ? on: January 05, 2017, 10:15:32 PM
Looked over all the information on Named and Virtual Cards at the site.

The only question I have is:
What exchange rate is used when converting bitcoin to currency, which I understand is done exactly at the time one makes a purchase online or at a physical store?
I mean, is there somewhere I can look up the exchange rate that will be used for this, ie. some debit cards use Bitpay rates which can be seen at their site; just want to get an idea how much I may loose when I change the bitcoin to the curreny, probably on an Euro card?
117  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Have you tried XAPO debit card? on: January 05, 2017, 08:06:59 PM
What makes it better than SEPA withdrawal from an exchange?

I think if you want to use the card instead of your fiat bank card on everyday living expenses (because you want to spend the hard earned bitcoins in the real world without hassle) you only need to make sure that your xapo wallet has enouh bitcoins, you don't need to exchange some BTC to local currency beforehead, card (and xapo) does it for you time to time when you use your card on a POS.
Of course if you want to deal with a bigger amount of BTC, SEPA should be easier for one time transactions.

Don't know if it's been asked before but: What bitcoin/euro rate does Xapo use when doing the exchange to pay for something you just bought with your debit card at a store or online?
I Mean, do they use something like the verifiable bitpay exchange rate or if not which other one?

EDIT: Ok forget this post, see too many issues with them in this thread....

119  Economy / Exchanges / Re: 【Bitcoin Debit Card UQUID】 No ID Required |Multi Cards Buy Supported | 0% Fees on: January 04, 2017, 07:55:23 PM
Looking at uquid website now.
So from what I read can I interpret that (sorry I need to make this list of questions to have the whole concept clear as I'm new to bitcoin debit cards):

1) I can order a Physical card in Euro for total cost of Euro 14,99 and that includes free delivery to my home? (what method of delivery, normal mail, how long does it take?)
Ok regarding how long it takes to receive physical card I read in the FAQ:
When will I receive my Uquid Physical Prepaid Card?
A: It can take up to 1-2 weeks to process your card order, depending on the bank workload. Please note that the shipping time for a post mail delivery varies, courier delivery can take up to 5 business days.

2) Then whether I use the card or not to do anything the monthly service fee total euro 1 ONLY?

3) As for purchasing, say something in amazon priced in euros in an euro denominated country, there would be no commisions/fees at all? (ie, I buy a toaster priced euros 10 and euros 10 is all I get charged in my card?).

4) I'd send bitcoins to fund my balance, no commisions applied from uquids side, but what bitcoin price would be applied? Or would I hold the total bitcoins I've sent to fund my card and can change the bitcoins to euro whenever I need to at the rate most favourable to me?

5) If I wish to withdraw money from an ATM in euros in my euro denominated country I'd be charged euro 2.25 plus any other charge the bank atm would add, but no currency conversion fee of 3% because my card is in euro?

6) Visa debit cards are usually issued by a known bank. Will I have no problem if I use the uquid debit card to buy something personally at a store?

Thanks

Why are you including the goldmoney card if it can only be funded with gold , not bitcoin?
