Not sure if this was shared here before, but even if it was, it deserves to be shared again:
I'll forgive Trump for being 1 day off.

New French virus case, 18 days after traveling from China. There seem to be a lot of outliers to the maximum 14 day quarantine rule.

2. You HODLed BCH long enough to get it airdropped to you (which again means you're retarded)
I just found out I must be BSV infected too.

EU economic affairs commissioner: "No need to panic" over coronavirus outbreak.
I trust these guys to know what they are talking about, but I don't trust anything they say. I'm not worried for financial reasons (btc feels ok and already reduced my exposure to stock markets) only about health, especially for the age brackets above me.

Maybe news traveling fast over the internet is a blessing in this case, if people take this a bit more serious than whatever there government is telling them. Even people normally putting 100% thrust in there government and not beveling anything on the internet, get a lot more careful when there own health is involved.

It looks like the virus can not only be transmitted before there are any symptoms, but also quite long before the medial tests can detect it. These situations could also be explained by the tests just not being very accurate, which is equally worrisome.

Hospitals seem to be a large source of new infections, also outside China, but screening of medical personnel is not implemented yet or is not very effective. I hope hospitals and researches will work together to figure out how this virus behaves and how to best deal with it soon. For now, staying healthy and having access to pure oxygen when lung problems develop seems to best remedy.

Covid19 at the gates?
Venetia is not far from my home, and there are carneval events until mid next week with many north-italian visitors taking place.
Mankind is still too dumb to control an outbreak this big. I bet this will shake the economies quite intensively in the near future.
Shipping from China has stopped, while large container ships have less than 1 crew person per 1000 containers, The ships are practically unmanned.
Yet tourist keep flying around the world meeting other large groups of tourist from other parts of the world in very confined tourist attractions.
It's the perfect way to spread a human virus as fast and far as possible.
The average age of tourists, traveling to a climate they are not used to and eating food they are not used to all does not help there immune system.

In a strong statement, Israel's health ministry warned that nine South Korean tourists who visited the country recently have tested positive for coronavirus upon returning home.
The ministry called on anyone who may have come into close contact with the tour group for an extended period of time to self-quarantine.
The tourists visited some of the most popular sites in Israel and the West Bank from February 8 to 16, increasing the chance of a large-scale exposure in the region, the ministry said Saturday.
They are praised for giving out a warning on the sabbath, yet I read nothing about (temporary) halting this perfect way to spread the virus.
It may have worked in this case but I think we are close to passing the point where halting tourist from specific countries would work.

[...] I needed to involve myself in other new side projects [...]
I kept the btc but continued the BTFD practice on TSLA stock, and did well. If this crypto-winter lasts any longer, I may be forced to look for a 3rd project.

Expecting another big dump soon. Sad Sentiment is too bullish. Cry
I'm ready for the next dip. if it doesn't happen, that's fine too.

Going to bed, hopefully I don’t wake up to sub $9,000 or something equally disgusting.
Similar situation, similar thinking, hoping for similar wished outcome
Was already in bed but had an alarm set for $9700. BTFD!

The way I see it, USA just nuked China in front of everybody without having to take any responsibilities.
I find an alternative theory more likely: China has know for a long time that Asian people are more susceptible to corna viruses. They where doing extensive research and accidentally infected one of the researches. Bad luck, it turned out to be a nasty one, having unexpected propagation abilities and long incubation times, rendering even extreme (but too late) countermeasures ineffective.

The USA is not that stupid, thinking they could keep this outside there own borders and they are as much affected by reduced international trade as anyone else. Even Trump knows that even the "made in America" stickers are printed abroad. There are no winners in this case.

Just used to practice CNC programming at home and simulation.
If there is a demo version that shows a 3D preview of the generated toolpath, use a GPU dump tool (designed for dumping 3D characters from games) to dump the toolpath, then convert the 3D lines back to gcode.
Obviously not speaking from experience here, and nowadays its well worth exploring open-source options.

Seen that poster last week and was disappointed bitcoin didn't make the cut. Maybe the maker was as clueless about digital currency as they where about cyber criminals.

Tor sounds useful when you don't trust your ISP but do trust the NSA who operate most of the exit nodes. (i.e: not very useful)

Keeping Nasdaq closed on Washington Day is just a sensible precaution. George created both the first bank and the first financial crisis  Grin
that can't be a coincidence.

Whichever direction we go, do we really care?
1 Bitcoin = 1 Bitcoin
Yes but 2 Bitcoin better than 1 Bitcoin.
I'm getting way too nervous for my health, so I BTFD at $9870. First buy this year, and the highest price I ever payed.
For some reason I sleep fine when I'm holding BTC and the price tanks 50% but get very nervous about missing the train. Anyway, that's taken care of now.

Google Trends is indicating that this is THE halvening pump and June was just a warm up. I see extremely little possibility we dont breach the 14k highs of the summer.
https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=US&q=bitcoin%20halving
Most likely we get somewhere around the all time highs, hopefully a bit farther just to grab the worlds attention, even if we fall back under it after the halvening for a chunk of 2020.
Google interest is already just above the 2016 peak, and the last 2 years a lot more than the 2 years before 2016. People are interested, mainstream media need to fill there pages and there is plenty of content from the previous halving that they could copy-paste. Unless there is other news that simple to write about well in advance (like elections) this halving is not going to pass unnoticed.

Another important factor is that in June 2016, interest rates on savings accounts peaked at about 4.5% to 5%, and this halving you would be lucky to find an interest rate that is at least positive. People are looking for alternative ways to handle there savings.
Oh, and the annual supply of new bitcoins is also halved, from 3.67% to 1.8%, comparable to annual dollar and euro printing.
And bitcoin has been around for another 4 years. Teens and early 20's hardly remember a world without bitcoin.

I was always in the halving-is-probably-good-for-price camp, but just now thinking more about the current situation compared with 4 years ago, I'm starting to feel a lot more positive than usual.
As an example, back in 2018 I had scripts running that polled the bitstamp price JSON data and started an MP3 to wake me up in case of price dips at night (BTFD), have not done that for years but now any old app supports BTC alarms, and I just started enabling them.
I sold upto 20% to pay bills and debt every now and then, and bought back in the dips, still holding about the same number of BTC. Not many, but debt-free and a few BTC helps a lot in retiring a few years early.

the fuck is a WAXP?
(after some googling) it was almost $3 on jan 9 2018, and has been a few cents since then.
120  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 15, 2020, 01:54:21 PM
Yes. But 10k was not the ceiling. 11k is the ceiling.
So breaking through 10k was not that hard. 11k will be much harder.
Nothing is hard, everything in its time and so $11k will come when conditions are created. We had that price in 2017, 2018 and 2019, and I have no doubt that BTC will again be worth $11k this year. Does it even matter if BTC is worth some amount in the next 3 months, when the right things will only happen in the second half of the year?
(on topic) Someone on stamp decided $10.300 is the magic number.
