101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 16, 2016, 09:45:13 AM
I installed the new version over the old one, but after the installation NiS starts (and still running), but NCC stoped every time after a few seconds.

Than I  delete every folder I'd found with NEM an try a clean new installation, but now I get the message that the same version is already installed.
..is there somewhere in the registry an entry I have to delete first ?

You shouldn't have deleted folders but uninstalled like every other programm in the system control panel.
I'm guessing there is some file that you have to delete but I can't remember which one. Someone will surely tell you when they see your message. Odds are the same problem has been answered multiple times over at forum.nem.io so you might wanna search that as well.

102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Microsoft's BaaS on Azure: More = Merrier? on: March 16, 2016, 08:09:27 AM
Wasn't there an actual statement that said they want all blockchains on their platform.
I mean MS really doesn't stand to lose anything from adding any and all blockchain projects. I think to them it really is the more the merrier. I mean they've now added a platform pre-release. If you get the template right and deployment works I really think they'd add any platform that comes their way.

new installation abort,

"..the same or a newer Version is installed."

which filesI have to delete ?

You should be able to uninstall it like any other program in the systempanel.

Hello,
yesterday I installed the latest NXT-Client,
..tody I see that my NEM-Client won´t start Sad

If I push the NEM-Button on my Desktop I get the message "NIS ist starting" .. ~20sec. "NIS ist stopped"  Huh

Any knowen issues with running this both clients on one maschine?

Without logs it is impossible to find out what is wrong with your NIS. Maybe it is a corrupt db, maybe something else...
Logs are in the folder c:\users\<your_user>\nem\nis\logs.

This is my latest Log-File.
..nothing changed, only installed NXT-Client.

-perhaps something with the localhost-file ?

try a reinstall...seems to have helped someone else with the same problem upthread.
If that doesn't work I would suggest to try the standalone. The standalone works best.

Is there a group I can join? Like Telegram or Slack to follow more about NEM?

we have both of those and they are interconnected Smiley
Auto-invite for slack is currently down so drop me pm with your mail for slack or pm jabo38 for telegram.

Once If NEM gets onto Azure, adoption should proliferate exponentially as it will be one of the best platforms in Azure.

FTFY

Depends on if Azure knows about NEM and think it's a valuable addition and can do things other platforms can't. As far as I know there haven't been any indicitations of Azure adding NEM.

Yeah...see people don't actually know how azure and the listing on azure works. All these "partnerships" we've seen lately ? Not as big a deal as people think. But people tend to not do their homework around here so I guess I shouldn't be suprised it created so much buzz for those platforms.
Any blockchain solution - and I do mean any - can get listed on azure. It's merely a matter of setting it up correctly so that microsoft approves. I'd be quite suprised if they outright rejected NEM but we'll see.

How long has NEM been waiting for an answer?

Still setting things up. The process isn't that complicated but it's should be as seamless as possible so it'll take a bit longer i think. I have no idea how long it'll take once the pull request is made.

What language is used to code Lisk smart contracts?

"At Lisk you can't develop smart contracts which are always being performed by all miners on the network."

Lisk is a platform for decentralized apps instead, written in javascript

Interesting. Wouldn't it be more apt to call them distributed apps then ? If not everyone in the network participates it's hardly decentralized. It's also not the case that anyone could start to participate or did I missunderstand that ?

Serious question btw....not trying to hate or anything (shame one has to point that out these days...people are getting really soft skinned in this space).

Each sidechain is discrete, therefore not coupled with the main network.

A total of 101 master nodes can be selected by the dapp's owner, as in public keys are added to the dapp, allowing them to forge blocks on the sidechain.

In the future, this is something we will obviously address. What we have now is a starting point, therefore we will move further away from the model Crypti established as time progresses.

For example, we could implement the same voting mechanism used within the parent network, or maybe the ability to "bid" for a slot on a particular sidechain, we are open to ideas.

Good to know. Thanks for the answer.

109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 12, 2016, 07:51:44 AM

It's not late.
NEM is still undervalued.
Buy XEM Now!  Smiley
But that is big bullshit:
For transfer 1 XEM - we pay 9 XEM fee or 900%
For transfer 2 XEM - we pay 8 XEM fee or 400%
For transfer 3 XEM - we pay 7 XEM fee or 233%
For transfer 4 XEM - we pay 6 XEM fee or 150%
For transfer 5 XEM - we pay 5 XEM fee or 100%
For transfer 6 XEM - we pay 4 XEM fee or 67%
For transfer 7 XEM - we pay 3 XEM fee or 43%
For transfer 8 XEM - we pay 2 XEM fee or 25%
.......
and only when the amount of the transfer is 200 XEM we pay tolerable 1%

In this case, the cost of a coin can not be more than 0.01$, or 0.000024 BTC for today.

That would still be an 800% increase Wink
It's true... But what will happen after that?? Capitalization of 90 million $ is not enough to become a coin of the world.

You got that backwards. First you become a "coind of the world" then you reach a higher capitalization Wink

Is there a stat like page that tells me what can be my harvesting rate once I have my coins vested?
Bump ...

I'm afraid ther's too many variables to get a reliable prediction.
Even if you would be able to predict roughly how many blocks you would harvest (which mainly depends on you POI score), the fees in that block will vary from 0 - over 150 XEM.
So some luck is involved too.
A while ago some people posted their harvesting results for the last 25 blocks ( which is displayed in NCC) and although I can't recall the amounts they varied quite a bit.

To clarify, it would vary from 0 to however many fees are in any given block. 150 is a completely arbitrary number xpedite chose.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 10, 2016, 07:43:06 AM
Fun fact: 3 people lost their NXT passphrase back then and also had bought NEMStake.
They invested 2 minutes and contacted me...then.
We had the community vote and those people got to redeem their stake if their stake had still been in their account for a good chunk after another deadline set strictly for those people.

In the end only 2 of those actually redeemed, the third appearantly didn't give a shit and I'm sure he'll turn up soon enough...(it wasn't HinnomTX...don't remember that nick)

We've bent over backwards so everyone get's a fair opportunity to redeem. Do you really think suggesting it's all a scam and thereby insulting everyone involved will get you anywhere ?

The deadlines were set so the team wouldn't for all eternity have to deal with people coming and wanting to redeem. They're kinda busy these days. It's not unheard of that things have expiry dates.

Also does this tx ring any bells? https://www.mynxt.info/transaction/12820971356593271975
I'm sure that was done so most people wouldn't redeem so the slushfund would grow rigth ?

Also from the asset description: Our website is ournem.com. Please read about NEM, NEMstake token and the conversion rules in our dedicated thread before buying NEMstake.

Did you keep up with the conversion rules ?

You can declare anything whatever you want, It'll still be your fault. Sorry.
patmast3r,
If it's my fault, why are you apologizing to me?
I'm going to give you an opportunity, in the public eye, to reverse this unethical policy of defrauding investors, and make this exchange of NEMstake for NEM. I will send my 3.5 NEMstake to whatever NXT address you specify to prove that I control them. In return, you will deposit approximately 7874999 XEM to the following address:
NAH5IVPG5BI253O3ZRJMSZXHBXUGHVENP7PATMFH

It will take me about 1/2 a day to access and move the NEMstake.
HinnomTX

Even if I wanted to I couldn't. I'm not in controll (in fact no single person is) so you're gonna have to convince a bunch of other people and I'll be honest...i don't think it's gonna happen.

114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 09, 2016, 04:58:27 PM
....

puh... you guys are so annoying. You really had time enough.
You misplaced it? You were just to lazy to act and search it, because it was not worth enough! And now, as the amount could go up higher you feel the greed, huh?
You're entitled to accuse me of being a fair weather fan, but what I'm saying is a true story. As public evidence, I can only offer up my NXT account which has been inactive since August 2014.  You must also credit me with the fact that I was competent enough to invest in NXT, get on the NXT AE and make the NEMstake purchase. Talk about going out of my way to invest in a speculative asset...

The sudden market recognition of value conferred by digital assets happens time and again in crypto. I actually believe that NEM has potential, hence my substantial purchase of NEMstake. I did not expect to lose my NXT passphrase. I was pretty devastated because I had lost a nice bag of NXT, with NEMstake too. I'm only doing what I can to recover lost digital assets. I still would like to know what happened to the NEM that was created from the underlying, unredeemed NEMstake. Can I get a straight answer on that one?

Sure you can. All XEM that were not redeemed have been put into funds that are being used to further develop the platform and ecosystem e.g. the mobile app that is in the final phases of testing.

I wanna take the oppotunity to point out that anyone can apply for funding for their own projects (so lang as related to NEM obviously).
Just like crypto apex did https://forum.nem.io/t/crypto-apexs-application-for-nem-community-funding/1393
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 09, 2016, 04:42:00 PM
Hi everyone,

I bought some NEM (via NXT) in summer of 2014, but then health issues struck, so I never claimed anything. Such bad luck. Sad

Can I still do anything with it?

It has been a year since people were redeeming.  If you were able to turn in your NXT token and get a NEM private key, those XEM will be waiting for you at that key.  If you didn't there isn't any chance.
Damien83, I've been summarily ignored on this same issue. They're just walking over us like roadkill. I misplaced my NXT passphrase and could not redeem NEMstake when the artificially imposed deadline for redemption went into effect. Guess what? I've located by NXT passphrase and now I'm sitting on 3.5 NEMstake!
You can read more about the scammy nature of the current 'You're too late' redemption policy here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1391752.msg14147046#msg14147046

They talk about how there isn't any chance to redeem, but the fact is that all 9 billion NEM that were represented by the underlying NEMstake were created in the nemesis block. Unless someone here can prove that the unredeemed coins were burned, I am declaring this currency a scam.

Tell that to the people all over this place that made a lot of money by being scammed.
They weren't burned. Everyone was informed multiple times what was going to happen after the deadline, and then the next deadline and then the very last deadline for the real abnoxious people. You missed all of those and have to live with that now. You can declare anything whatever you want, It'll still be your fault. Sorry.

What do you mean what happend ? Someone dumped. Did anyone really expect it was just gonna stay that high after that kind of spike ?

I filled out and handed in the form. When do you contact the interesting persons? General or only when in use?

If you would like to get involved and help make NEM better, please fill out our volunteer form.  We find that there are actually many little things people can do.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1RWdE187ngIsRKoHo5ZQ6LPs0LNv8o65fIpATLx2gXgY/viewform?c=0&w=1

I have only contacted about 1/3 of the people on the list.  So far what I am doing is noting people's strengths and when we have something, I contact them.  I'll go ahead and send you a PM.

well worth for everyone that fills that out to join slack/telegram as well.

I believe you could opt for the coin shipped to you or a coin token on the AE which could then be sold.

Yep. Afaik that's the plan if deemed viable.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 08, 2016, 09:20:48 AM

re: silver coins  (absolutely no rush)

Please remind me, does the whole Nemesis get one?  If yes, do I remember correctly that there's an option to get an additional stake instead of a coin (or to get the respective value of the coin in XEM or something like that)?

Thanks in advance!   Smiley

If the silver coin plan is viable then yes, afaik everyone in nemesis gets 1.
The thing about an additional stake...first time i hear about that. Don't think that was an option.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: March 08, 2016, 07:36:27 AM
I bought and stashed a few XEM last year, can't remember exactly when. I have name.adb and name.wlt, as well as the password I used when creating the wallet. I do not have the private key. When I run the client, it sees the wallet, but when I type the password it tells me:

"Oops!

ERROR 123

NIS: ADDRESS BOOK COULD NOT BE READ"

Is all lost?

The filename doesn't contain any spaces or special chars does it ?
Where did you keep those files ?

No special characters or spaces, no. I stashed the files on a USB drive. I'd assumed in my apparent ignorance that I could retrieve the private keys just (like with pretty much all other alts) by saving the encrypted wallet files and the password. I have those, just not the private keys unencrypted, and the current wallet won't open my files.
Doomed, right?
sadface.png

The files and the password should be enough. Either the files got corrupted on that usb drive or you're using the wrong password.
