101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ❤️[ANN] Surfcoin SURF❤️Browser Mining❤️Ad Platform❤️Seed Box❤️POS❤️Mobile Mining on: March 05, 2019, 08:58:02 PM
Any timeline on when the whitepaper will be released?

And times on the roadmap?

We are waiting for the compatibility with smart TVs. Will release this week.

It is interesting to be able to mine with smart TVs, but are there also any security risks?

I wouldn't think there would be an issue with Surfcoin. I keep my smart TV off the network, because those Smart TVs are very chatty phoning home. If I were more interested, I'd put a pihole in place to stop this traffic.

I assume this could be mined with any kind of browser, so I would think Amazon Fire and Xbox might also work?

That's pretty interesting, haven't heard of smart tv mining.

Anyway, I appreciate the low impact of mining surfcoin. Hope the project really takes off.

Is there a Discord for this?

Everyone please consider keeping PODC. Being able to mine POBH and PODC is really nice.

Plus I'm in the middle of writing a book on crypto and would like to include BBP, as I'm not aware of any other coin that allows two methods of mining simultaneously.

If the community wants to dump PODC, fine. But I'll need to find another example..

Laughing at whoever is liquidating their BBP in $.15 trades...

Check the BBP amount he is selling every trade; I guess he's trying to send out a message.

If the message is, "I'm an emotional infant", then yes, I got it.

It truly takes all kinds...

I feel having an anti-ASIC fork ready at hand is a great idea.

Who would want to take the time and expense to develop an ASIC for UPX, knowing the mining might only last a day?

I have been thinking of running a Trading 42 101. I have a bunch of notes I wrote for a guy on Telegram.

Most everyone on Planet Krypto is looking for a fast buck. But the steady money -- a lifetime as a trader -- lies in patience, particularly for a crypto like 42. Ask me to explain what 'hoovering' is!

Magnificent summer morning here -- got mustangs nearby.

Would you please explain what 'hoovering' is? Smiley

Thank you to Ucicha and yourself for bringing us the goods. Really, really good stuff. It's the type of information I need, but find relatively rarely on forums..

Let's remember, and above all keep in mind, it was Togo that started all this talk of forks.   Lips sealed

As to the fork, was that a serious question?

I am serious, but doing it in a joking manner,
Ive stated before that I would support chains for both POG and PODC,
Rob stated he doesnt have the time to do both

I also know why no one has forked, Im trying to lead you guys to that answer,
its because Rob is the only blockchain developer here (other than MIP)

Rob has the knowledge, time, passion and commitment to run a cryptocurrency,
I challenge you guys to do blockchain development, will anyone step up? or will there just be more talking LOL

Quote
I get it--if we don't want to launch a new coin, we should just remain silent?
That sounds a lot like bullying, just to avoid hearing what the community has to say. Love it, or leave it huh? How very tolerant. /s

No, Im laying out the truth, the action that must be taken if you guys want change,
we already know Robs decision and the votes of the masternodes
(and whether you guys like it or not, not voting is also a vote)

I challenge you guys to do a fork, and we can truly see which chain does better
Other than more talking, what other actions can you guys take?

Also, it would make more sense to fork Bitcoin, since that is it more tried-and-true.

I personally wouldn't support a fork of Bitcoin, but maybe others would?

=

Im tired of all the complainers, all the negativity, all the criticism,
We have a lot of talkers and barely any doers, its the same song being played,

If PODC is so great, why arent you guys forking?
Will anyone accept my challenge? Wink

=

Also, everyone is complaining about price, but how many of you are educating and onboarding new users?
How many of you are recruiting new investors?
How many of you are helping smooth out the starting process?

=

Will anyone step up to help create youtube tutorials about BiblePay? (How to buy BiblePay, How to mine BiblePay)

Will anyone step up to help write articles about BiblePay?

Will anyone step up to help run our Facebook?

=

How do we get more users? How do we get more investors? How do we get more doers?
Is anyone thinking about this? Is anyone willing to work on this?

I've heard this argument before--if you don't like it, then make your own. Is that really efficient? Please don't make blockchain development out to be so difficult. With open source and copypasta, you can have a coin up and running in a few hours. BBP is unusual in its complexity. But that's not the point.

You have to make a choice. Either we're a community coin, and we all get input, or we're a monarch coin and we should just keep our criticism to ourselves.  Which do you choose?

Why don't BiblePay welcome GPU-friendly BOINC projects, like https://gpugrid.net/?

Well, it seems they award badges, but not any crypto.

Also, as you can see from post #1, BBP is CPU-only by design, no GPU needed. It keeps things more fair.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% Charity | POW/PODC | CPU/Cancer Mining | Sanctuaries on: February 18, 2019, 04:37:39 AM
There's also the 0byte and Neumannium combo for crunching.

As to the fork, was that a serious question?

I don't have a problem with the direction BBP is taking. What I do have a problem with is BBP going in multiple directions at once.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Biblepay BBP Community Discussion Thread on: February 17, 2019, 05:45:43 PM
The sign of a healthy community is its ability to absorb and process dissension.

There are two ways I know of to enable this. One, is for the community to embrace different viewpoints, and realize the value of perspectives from all--whether dev, investor, casual interested parties (easier said than done)

The second way is to stamp out any differing perspectives, and whittle down the numbers to only the most staunch of true believers, at the cost of diversity. This path is often a downward spiral, as the community has no way to meaningfully affect the coin's path, and the leaders are no longer listening. It can reach levels that appear totalitarian.

The key, and I have no idea how to do this, is to get the leadership a (A) little thicker-skinned (B) and the community communicating in more helpful ways. Those two seem to go hand in hand. If one fails, they both do.

I will not go down the sink just singing the praises of BBP. If BBP is so fragile that any criticism is harmful, then we have a big problem. A strong project can take the criticism in stride, even if it's crude.

Honestly, I wish the lead dev was spending more time fixing existing code, and a lot less time defending BBP against perceived attacks. It doesn't help, and just makes the whole project seem immature (feedback I've gotten before).

Nobody needs to defend BBP. If any criticism is seen as a slight against potential future investors, we've got a bigger problem.

I guess it will come down to, do we value of egos so much that the accusations and infighting (from both "sides") can't be let go of? Or do we realize as Christians, we need to just focus on the coin, and keep our feelings a little more to the side? And can everybody do it?

Yeah, but English-speaking is a large enough demographic to be ignored completely.

I realize it's already a done deal as to the name, so all I can do is come up with alternatives that fit.

S.I.N. is going to sound like "sin".

So I'm calling them SI Nodes. Or Secure INs.

In the end it doesn't matter much, except hopefully relieving me of some of the strange looks I'd get discussing the project.

1000 PhD's are skeptical of darwinism:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQgOjHsMEeE&feature=youtu.be

This is the kind of base element that should be in BiblePay.  An exposure to evidence that God exists when you use certain features of BiblePay.

I'm trying to understand how that relates to Biblepay. Are you seeking to turn away Christians who do believe that evolution is real? What's the link to BBP? Are you the person who keeps posting political content in the wallet prayer?

Or are we free to post our thoughts about Christianity here? Because I have collected some pretty radical interpretations of the teachings that might be interesting. In case the video is on-topic for this thread, let me share these ideas:

There's not a lot of evidence I can find that evolution and Christianity are incompatible. Take this: there was a time that people did not know that black holes existed in God's universe. When we learned of them, did we think they were unreal? No, we updated our concept of God's universe to include black holes. Science will have to update its models too.

That statistic of 1000 PhDs not believing evolution is misleading. In just the top 5 countries in the world, there are about 150,000 PhDs graduates...each year. So at best that 1000 PhDs represent a very, very small portion of the whole. So, it would imply that most Christian doctors actually do believe in evolution. Interesting.

I want to thank Rob for bringing up this link and inviting further discussion about a fascinating topic--evolution and Christianity. I look forward to hearing others' opinions on the subject.

Yeah, that's an awesome miner. Just gobbling up the shares.

What's causing the orphans? Is there another player involved that hasn't come forward?

And just curious, how do pools usually work so they don't step on each other's blocks?
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BiblePay | 10% Charity | POW/PODC | CPU/Cancer Mining | Sanctuaries on: February 09, 2019, 06:10:54 PM
Only stability gives success.

There were too many changes, and testnet is for testing,
I wrote after testing how many bugs is in POG.
Unfortunately, Rob just laughed.

Interesting you would say there are bugs but not share specific.

Most people here are not programmers.

Rob pushes people away from him.
One by one, he will be alone with the promises of 3-5 new users daily.
Most of us have a lot of bbp. It is not pleasant to see what is happening.

I don't get why we use 'new users' as a metric.  Folks new to BBP, would presumably be drawn in by the new feature (POG) and its promise (profit). Profit oriented people are usually quick to sell, especially in this market condition. There aren't so many profitable coins, so I think people are looking more for stability and the hope of a coin's survival to better days. It seems to me that the vast majority of crypto is destined to fail. Let's not be one of them.

I'm all for innovation, but uncorking it near the bottom I don't understand. Gift cards are nice, but how are they encouraging hodling of BBP? Either I buy the BBP and convert to the gift card, or I'm already hodling and will just convert.

How does profit-mindedness contribute to hodling? Will quick profits be helpful to the coin long term?

Maybe Australia or some island have bandwidth usage issue. But it is unlimited where I live. I don't push more than 500gb a month either way for  total monthly usage. And that includes Netflix streaming.. I don't really see the bandwidth argument as a stumbling block.

Just to be clear... even in the USA there are a lot of internet providers going to tiered data limits. Mediacom for example started doing it probably 5 or so years ago. Their entry level cable plan only allows for 400GB of data each month. Just a year or 2 back that was as little as 250GB. My in-laws that only use it to stream netflix and pay bills used to come close to tapping out their 250GB limits. So, if BBP wallet is responsible for 45GB+ each month, it is no laughing matter. That kind of bandwidth could go to running "beermoney" applications and earn more with less power depending on the app and month. I'm hoping that the data isn't really that much but rather factoring in their contribution to DC. Rosetta tends to have work units that require more disk space than a lot of projects. So, if people are contributing to that project currently, they should feel a pinch on the data traffic. I'm curious to see the results people find.

I really don't mind providing an advanced report showing bytecount per messagetype outbound, but what we need first is a good accurate 24 hour baseline showing our outbound byte count vs. Dash preferably, or another Dash based wallet.

Its futile to write all that code if someone doesn't claim with accuracy/proof that we use more bandwidth than normal.

I've been trying to figure out how to do an apples-to-apples comparison. The vast majority of coins I'm getting through miner software, not from wallet mining or uploading chunks of blockchain. Usually once a week I start the wallets to update the chains, that's it. BBP is the only thing I have running continuously. And I don't know which traffic is going from POBH, and which from the chain updates.
