101  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 1% fee solo mining USA/DE 253 blocks solved! on: October 27, 2019, 04:31:33 PM
Hello,
I've been wanting to learn more about and do some Solo mining for a while now. I have a decent sized farm at 20PH and am about to grow that out. I just pointed 10 of my S9's over here and they are running fine. Finding the stats is easy. This sure seems like a really good opportunity. Question; Obviously 140 TH/s isn't much Hash. Is there a consensus on the level of Hashrate that needs to be put to the task that creates better luck/odds. I would guess it's pretty high like 30-40PH?? I can't point everything here but I would move a good piece if truly "more is better"? Any input is appreciated.

Thanks!

okay my advice is this.  if you earn 20,000 x .00001791 = 0.3582 btc a day mining on a "safe" pps+ pool

and your power costs are .1582   your current daily profit is 0.200 btc.

You could point it all 1 day a week the loss is 0.3582 on that day (assume a miss no blocks)

the other six days  your profits are 1.200   you net 1.200-0.3582 = 0.8418 a week vs 1.2 a week.

you should hit a block doing this in around 35 weeks.

If I had 20 ph  I would do it occasionally   you stand to gain by doing it.

If I had 100ph  I would do 70-90 on a pps+  and 10-30 here.

It  is in your favor to do it  but long  dry spells do occur.

Here I am on a different coin

Last 50 Matured Blocks
Height   Time Found__________________Status_______Reward______Luck

62536   Sun Oct 27 2019 14:36:45.........PAID................10.2600..........28.55%

62534   Sun Oct 27 2019 14:14:15.........PAID................10.2602..........51.70%

do four or five like this below and you fall behind
62527   Sun Oct 27 2019 13:13:07.........PAID................10.2600..........132.76%

I will pm you more info
Thanks Phil! You're the best.

philipma1957 will break down the odds and details for you,  he'll see your post and comment soon

im thinking about 15-20Ph for a month should get you at 100 diff for that block,  but could get lucky and hit it in a week, or bad luck and take over a month to hit it
Wow, thank you so much for your feedback. That's really pretty encouraging. I know there's no hard and fast rules in this arena, but my 20ph power cost is around $25,000.00. pretty good risk reward seems like.

I've added the 300 S9's as part of the existing offering and price to sweeten the deal.

Thats an even sweeter deal,
as Stryfe said, location location location

if it was closer south, like maybe Texas, i'd round up some buddys to get it rolling
I'm actually in Houston. It runs smoothly for the most part and it's an 8 hour drive for me. I get there basically as needed or about once every 2 weeks on average.

wish I would find one of these for sale near me - save me the headache of trying to build on on this spare lot I have. GLWS
Thank you Stryfe. They are definitely not easy to build out. Always unforeseen challenges and problems.

"800,000 Californians To Lose Power After Midnight"

https://www.zerohedge.com/energy/800000-californians-lose-power-after-midnight

I don't really like the unwarranted attack on leftist ideologies here, what happened to Venezuela was a result of a corrupt regime, not what ideology this regime theoretically followed
Left ideology and corruption are synonymous. That's exactly the point of this entire situation. Left wingers use poor people, the downtrodden and racism to further their controls on public tax money. Which they then use to further their power and in turn allows them greater control of the public tax revenue purses.

Kalifornia appears to be the living example of the latest edition of " Communism/Socialism ( same thing) For Dummies". Thankfully we have this dynamic, real time example in our midst, to give living proof of how these places consume themselves with toxic ineptitude on all levels.

As I am still actively involved in the area I'd like to offer two possible Purchase scenarios for this operation.

1) Asking Price $290,000.00

Total Purchase. Buyer takes complete control of business. Current owner has no involvement after deal has closed.

2) Asking Price $325,000.00

Buyer can purchase the business and own/manage with minimal involvement. Current owner will oversee and manage local needs such as maintenance, upkeep and problem response on the site. I have a time tested support team in the area including Master Electricians and Network Professionals.

There are several other advantages available to the buyer of this site. I am expanding to larger capacity and with each step up in size I have access to cheaper and cheaper power rates. The expansion capacity is also quite large so growing your business would not be a problem. I am also seeking investors to participate in my next 20MW expansion. Minimum $100,000.00 investment.

Buying 7 nm hardware with a 1.5 year pay back window is probably not a good idea.

Yes, I was fortunate to acquire S17's 56 th and T17's 38 th in decent volume before the price runnup. I'm with you. I'm waiting now. No way I pay these prices. It'll come down. I can wait. I'm willing to buy gear at a 12 month payback window at today's metrics but i won't go beyond that. Truth be told, I got my S17's way cheaper. I've been tempted several times to sell them at 2 and 3 x what I paid for them. but alas, I am a miner. Not a "re-seller".
116  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining gear efficiency a strong reason for difficulty increment? on: October 05, 2019, 01:39:35 PM
The cold hard truth is that in "mining"  just like every other business on the planet now, It's "go big or go home'. The Commercial mines are in a race to the bottom. You have to run way more gear to achieve less margin. Just like Amazon et al. Large Corporations are gobbling up all the profit throughout almost every business on earth. So, cheap power and the most efficient gear possible will be the ONLY thing left. All others will die along the way. Keep in mind that even commercial miners that do not manage their business costs well, are susceptible to extinction. This process will not be a straight line. Factor in the fluctuations in difficulty as it ebbs and flows and there's no way to know how long this process will take, but rest assured it is real and it is happening. I started 3 years ago with 2 L3+ and have worked feverishly to expand knowing this trend is firmly in place. I'm now at 20 PH and expanding as fast as I can. There is no middle ground. It's go big ( and cheap ) or go home. I hate that it's this way but I'm already committed.

Lastly, as a commercial miner I do NOT believe running S9's just because they are cheap and have short pay offs is a good strategy. I am 75-80% certain that these units will be obsolete post Halving. Think L3+. Hard to believe I know but for all intents and purposes, if you want to be a miner, you need the lowest power, lowest floor costs, best gear and lots of it. IMHO.
117  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB Antminer S17 56T on: September 28, 2019, 12:46:02 AM
I am running several S17's 56 TH and T17's 38TH, I am not very inspired to part with any but I do like people to experience this thing called "mining". As with anything in life, I might part with 2 for the right price. I must warn you, it will hurt. If that doesn't dissuade you, please feel free to email me at 1pmnlr@gmail.com. I can provide you with any proof of ownership and unit health you would like. I would only transact through trusted forum escrow. EG; Ognasty or otherwise. You will be purchasing healthy 7NM units with very little use on them from a professional commercial mining farm. You're situation is unique. I assume you understand that you will need ample ventilation and a good source of 220V power capable of supporting 12 amps per unit as only 80% of the total amperage available to you per circuit. These units run very hot.

Let me know

Rob

S17 Pro 53TH earns $8.00 pd@ .05 per kwh. $3900.00 divided by $8.00 is 16 1/4 months to recoup cost and that's at today's diff, which will surely be at least 10% higher by October. I'm just curious...how does anyone justify this purchase?

In my use-case, my university dorms include a storage room with free electricity.  I'd like to max that out...

 Wink
It has 220V ?

I don't know enough about Chip Technology to comment intelligently on this but I do own a lot of "T" models and have first hand experience with them. I see that BM is constantly tweaking and fiddling with the 7nm density chip sets, and finding higher and better efficiency levels. While small variances to be sure, there are still notable differences. I find the "T" versus the "S" designation to be analogous to the high end car manufacturers, giving different badges to their performance and luxury lines. Porsche for Example an "S" model of any platform usually indicates a higher performance characteristic. From my experience, the "T" models are showing better reliability because they aren't running at the proverbial "redline". I feel that the S17 56 and or 64 TH units are running at the red line. Horsepower  sacrifices reliability in most engineering applications. Again, just a guess based on my experience, but I will say this. My T15's, T17's are the most reliable ASIC miners I've dealt with since the S-9's. I've had ZERO issues with them. I have constant RMA's and failed boards from the less robust S grouping. Again, just one person's experience. Others may see the opposite.
