102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [POOL] YAAMP.COM Scrypt/Neo/Lyra2/X11/X13/X14/X15 Profit switch with exchange on: March 08, 2015, 02:48:33 PM
how much any one may earn with a single gtx 970 per day, if he or she mines whole day long ? and which algo is more profitable ?

The profits in btc/mhs/day are here: http://yaamp.com/site/mining
It fluctuates throughout the day, so you might take a look at Miner Control (in my signature). That'll switch if another algo becomes more profitable.

Also, Quark seems down? Getting timed out errors. The site also says Quark has 0 hashrate, so I suppose I'm not the only one.
Seems like it's fixed Smiley Nvm ^^"
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Miner Control 1.6.1 - Auto profit switching miner controller on: March 08, 2015, 02:49:23 AM
But this brings me to a question I have for others, even though wepaybtc is reporting it's profitabilty correctly, we don't know what our hashrate is using their miner, so Miner Control can't make the best choice.  For example my 290x hash x11 around 8.7 MH/s on any given pool but on wepaybtc I have no idea what it hashes at.  Miner Control assumes it hashes at 8.7 but I know it's much less than that.  How are people dealing with this problem, are you weighing wepaybtc less?

You could add a new algo "x11wpb", use it as algo under the pool too bet but set "priceid" to "x11". But I think that just adding a weighting would be the easiest Tongue
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for Scrypt Multipool that converts to Litecoin on: March 06, 2015, 06:37:10 PM
Not completely sure, but I think LtcRabbit does this Wink
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Miner Control 1.6.1 - Auto profit switching miner controller on: March 06, 2015, 06:30:31 PM
what you type as hashrate for WhirlcoinX, nicehash topic says put f10=135, 135Mh/s is what I get from on 280x, but miner control earn column is way out of correct info IMHO about 1000 times

Seems OK for me :s You need to write your hashrate in kh in MinerControl => "hashrate": 135000
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Miner Control 1.6.1 - Auto profit switching miner controller on: March 06, 2015, 03:42:08 PM
What's wrong with my setup? Checked profile triple, all correct !!! but my miner not hashing just shows find blocks!! When i checked from pool statics, no hashing!!

You're somehow using the testminer that is supplied in the download.
So you have an idea how to fix?

See your old post here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=769239.msg10630571#msg10630571 where it says testminer.exe....

Now compare it to this config https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=769239.msg10335090#msg10335090

You see how his "aparam1": is set.  That is the directory where your miner is located.  And "aparam2": is the actual name of the miner, in his case it's sgminer.  Just in case you're still not sure, Miner Control is not a miner in and of itself.  You have to use it in conjunction with sgminer or the nvidia miners.  In Miner Control's config, you point to your miner.  Does that help?

All hail & +1 Cheesy
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help to chose coin on: March 05, 2015, 07:16:55 PM
As I said, try out a classic multipool first. You've probably got to learn from that first.
MinerControl works together with your miner you've already got to switch according to the best paying pool and algorithm. But to know for yourself what a good pool really is, and what all those algorithms are about, you need to try several pools and algos first.
I suggest you take a look at Nicehash and Yaamp first (Google is your friend). They'll pay you directly in BTC but each have their own approach to what to do with your hashpower. It's a good way to learn the mechanics, imho Wink
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] Mining Pool Hub - Auto profit switching / Auto exchange to alt coins on: March 05, 2015, 05:13:03 PM
Any chance you guys could add a profitability API for the multipool part?
Would be nice to be able to mine here to, but my Nvidia cards don't support failover+"multi-algo-port", so I use MinerControl (preferably my own mod of it Cheesy) to switch, but I can't on your pool if I don't have a realtime JSON api Wink

Sure.
We will add json api.

Is it okay that we just define our own template or you suggest recommended template format?

We think NiceHash based json would be good.

Good to hear Cheesy Please tell when it's added, I'll add it to MinerControl. And if it's API is NiceHash based, I won't have any problems.
Thanks!
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD or NVIDIA? on: March 05, 2015, 02:16:50 PM
For games you should buy nvidid but for mining purposes the AMD. Is best for mining . Not btc but can easily mine altcoins like amd r9 series is best for moning and is available easily . But i am using nvidia for gaming also it can mine alts Smiley

Look back and read a bit. Nvidia's can mine, profitably. Don't use one of the old series though, you'll need a 750(ti) or one of the new 9xx ones. They perform a lot better (sometimes one 750TI can get more than an R9 280 on some algos) for a lot less power usage.
I'm afraid that the rumor of Nvidias being shitty miners will persist for a very long time.

You cant beat amd in mining with nvidia .

I have Nvidia geforce 480 and 650ti . I get decent hash rate but as you know 480 has heat issues i dont mine alts also i'd like to play instead of wasting time on mining.

You're being ignorant of what I typed. I told you that the older cards aren't worth it, only the new ones are AMD killers.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help to chose coin on: March 05, 2015, 02:15:41 PM
Hello, i need help to chose coin for GPU mining. Basicly time I will use for mining is when I am doing some big downloads/uploads, becose I am leaving pc up tp 48h allmost unused, so I want him to mine instead idle.

Now what I want is to undestand how to chose coins right (dont need something for a long run, I would be trading them for bitcoin).
I was looking web sites like http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency but I do not undestand it (Economy is really not my strong side).
How can I chose best profitable coin for gpu mining at given moment, and what would it be today? Thank you for answer  Smiley

If you don't want to be coin hunting all the time, it might be better for you to just join a multipool, that does this for you. Most of them charge higher fees than standard pools, but the extra profit you make with them is worth it.
If you got that working out for you, you might give Miner Control a try too Wink While a multipool only mines the most profitable coin of one mining algorithm, you can make Miner Control switch between those algorithms, even between pools. All is automagically done, but requires some setup which will take some time to do, especially for a newbie Tongue
But you'll learn a lot just from setting up.
Miner Control main thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=769239.0
I'm also playing with this code myself, you can find my mod here: https://github.com/KBomba/MinerControl-KBomba/releases

Mining can be fun, but no matter how simple you make it, you'll have to learn the tricks to earn at least enough to pay for the power Cheesy

I was going to make my own thread about this but I might as well ask it here. Do AMD and Nvidia cards perform differently depending on the algorithm? I know back when Bitcoin was mined using GPUs, an AMD part would perform much better than the equivalent Nvidia part when mining SHA-256. But nowadays I see people mining altcoins using Nvidia cards too.

e.g.

Quote from: Extremetech.com
If you typically follow GPU performance as it related to gaming but have become curious about Bitcoin mining, you’ve probably noticed and been surprised by the fact that AMD GPUs are the uncontested performance leaders in the market. This is in stark contrast to the PC graphics business, where AMD’s HD 7000 series has been playing a defensive game against Nvidia’s GK104 / GeForce 600 family of products. In Bitcoin mining, the situation is almost completely reversed — the Radeon 7970 is capable of 550MHash/second, while the GTX 680 is roughly 1/5 as fast.

Quote from: Cryptomining-blog.com
On a GTX 750 Ti you are probably going to get pretty much the same performance that a Radeon R9 280X currently has for X11 mining or about 2 MHS or slightly more. So now Nvidia clearly has the advantage in X11 mining in terms of performance over AMD.

Link: http://cryptomining-blog.com/2422-updated-ccminer-1-0-beta-with-improved-performance-for-x11-mining/

Yep, Nvidia & AMD perform differently on different algorithms. A lot depends on the implementation though, but be sure that there are certain algos that perform better on Nvidia or on AMD.

Your new mod keeps sounding better and better.

I love playing with statistics. It's an interest I only recently discovered, but it opened a whole new world already Wink
Anyways, new release Cheesy v1.6.4 KBombaMod Smiley (.exe is in the .7z)
I crossed off all remaining feature requests on the second post of this thread, like "exittime" and "delay". Coinking and blackcoinpool still do not fit the requirement of a current profitability API. I've been trying to convince other multipools about adding such an API but no success so far Sad If anyone knows about a multipool with it that isn't in MinerControl, please tell. I'll gladly add it.
I also implemented basic history collection and analysis, so you can now either mine by average price over a set X minute time period, or just ignore peak prices, aka outliers.
And much more info on the github pages ^^"

Great, looking forward to testing it out.

So it looks like there are only 3 viable pools to get paid in btc for gpu miners (4 if you're ok getting paid in ltc)

Nice/Westhash
Yaamp
WePayBTC (might be tough for people to set up but if you use config files like Zels then it's straightforward)

I saw you asked netcoin pool to implement an api, the only other potential pools I see from a cursory search are http://miningpoolhub.com/ and http://www.xpool.ca/   Somehow poolpicker.eu has a 24 hour price for coinking, could that be used somehow?  Just found this one from poolpicker  https://prohashing.com/ (edit, that's only scrypt)

I already contacted miningpoolhub Tongue I didn't contact xpool yet, but since they only have scrypt, sha and x11, it's not that much worth of switching.
I can add pools that only give out 24h profits, but those aren't "up to date" and is a bad comparison with other pools that give out direct, current profitability. Anyone else here asking for coinking etc? Tongue

115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Miner Control 1.6.1 - Auto profit switching miner controller on: March 04, 2015, 06:40:22 AM
Thanks for replying.  Even that number is consistently different by a pretty significant margin.  I just opened up Miner Control and the first price it grabbed is .372526 BTC/GH/Day and refreshing Hamsterpool at the same time showed .00041892 BTC/MH/Day.  MC even showed a price over .5 at one point when westhash was showing half that.  I've never mined on hamsterpool so I'll just have to keep my eye on it.  Your new mod sounds like the perfect solution but how is that going to be implemented on hamsterpool?  It looks like they only provide past 24 hour payouts and estimated 24 hour payouts, does their api allow for more detailed stats?  Either way I'm looking forward to your mod (and actually using mc).  Thanks.

Depends on when that price was grabbed. Sometimes, a buyer on nicehash forgets a zero in his price, resulting into very high profits for a minute, until the buyer realizes. This happens frequently Tongue
Hamsterpool also seems to constantly update its profits. Most pools do it only once a minute. This might explain the difference Wink
There could also be some lag on their API. But then you'd have to complain with them Tongue

My mod's history grabs it real-time, saves it in memory and runs some basic analysis on these numbers. Outlier detection and ignoring them is also in it, but doesn't work with mining by average (ofc Tongue)
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Miner Control 1.6.1 - Auto profit switching miner controller on: March 04, 2015, 06:08:52 AM
So I'm running Miner Control with the Test Miner to look at prices.  At this moment Hamsterpool x11 has the best price but I can't find anywhere on their site that corresponds to the price Miner Control produces.  All the others are pretty easy to match, yaamp, nice/westhash, ltcrabbit etc but I can't do it for hamsterpool.  Am I missing something obvious?  It also seems to be much more volatile than the others...

Take the ***e BTC per MH, multiply by 1000 and you'll get the "price" Miner Control is reading.

I'm also almost finished with a new release for my mod. Some new features in there, like mining by average over a set window period. So instead of only being able to mine by current or past 24h profit, you could also mine by the average of the past 5 minutes. A lot more stable but still close to the real price.

PS: Don't believe blindly what every pool says. Some have calculation errors, like rounding piling up, and others just blatantly lie. Be careful and set the weight per pool according to real payouts.

You've set it as c=MEC?

yaamp, i don't know what you've changed but it's better to do one step back and research.
those fast reconnections on x11 and probably other algos screw stats and cut payouts.
if you have long-time logs i observed that at about 11:30 UTC, Feb 27

You might want to take a look at setting up Minercontrol Wink You can set a switchtime/delay so it won't switch all the time. I have some other nifty settings in my mod too, but setting up the basic Minercontrol with just Yaamp should do the trick.
