101  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the best Sport to bet on ? on: April 30, 2021, 12:55:56 PM
So maybe eSports is a good recommendation since there is a break in-between matches, I would say probably besides eSports,I think basketball or football could be a good sports to bet on, pretty straightforward and no fuzz.
Yeah esports got me considering profits compared to any other sports in my more than five years of gambling. I do not have any specific reasons why esports got me good profits whereas normal sports weren't. Because I am watching and I am interested on both of these sports events at the same level still predicting in esports is somehow feasible for me for some hidden reasons.

I guess I have bet on more than 8 different sports as I am following all of them. Probably, having interest on more sports must be the reason why I am not profitable in real sport events.

Isn't it the same with esports as it is with any other sport? You have to be into it and have at least some clue in order to understand what you are actually doing!

I don't know much about esport, but I know much about soccer, so what is the best sport for me to bet on? Soccer of course! If you know a certain sport very well that is probably the best sport to bet on! You can always gamble on others sports you don't know well just for fun, but that might not be the "best sport to bet on" for you in the literal sense.
You are correct but at the same time you are not, esports in theory are no different than any other sport in the sense that in order to be profitable you need to know a lot about the esport you have selected, however the main difference strives in the fact that esports are relatively new and the updates to the game can make it literally a completely different game and casinos have no way to accurately price the games as they do in traditional sports, which means it is easier for the player to get an edge over the casino if he knows the game very well.

The last part of your post is interesting and makes a lot of sense. Esports is a new arena to Casinos, but I guess they will partner up with a lot of pro players to get a good overview of how to distribute the odds between the competing teams or players. However, they are not on the level of calculating odds as they are for other sports. Very good point.

What I fear is that the defeat to Manchester City in the Champions League will make the morale of PSG players decrease a little, and there will likely
be an effect on the next match, when PSG will face Lens. Because if PSG fails to beat Lens the burden will be very heavy to be able to catch up with
Lille's points. Pochettino should be able to motivate PSG players to come back from defeat against Manchester City.
If that happens I would say Pochettino is to blame. It is his obligation to build up the players' confidence over the next couple of days. I wonder what PSG will look like next season. If Mbappé leaves, I don't think Neymar will stay. If Neymar and Mbappé both leave, wow. Nothing left then to win the CL and also Messi would never go to PSG if those or even one of the two players mentioned leaves.

The next 2 months are very critical for PSG's future. It could look very bad for PSG next year.

The future of PSG really depends on Mbappe and Neymar,  because without these two players it would be impossible for PSG to progress so far
in the Champions League. And rumors of Mbappe's move have indeed been heard a lot, reportedly Real Madrid are the most serious about
getting Mbappe, even planning to sell 7 players so they can get money to be able to buy Mbappe from PSG. If Mbappe next season leaves PSG
it is likely that Neymar will also move, and as you said if the two PSG players move, the smaller the chance that PSG can bring Messi.
It is very interesting to know the future of PSG next season. I actually really hope that next season PSG can keep Mbappe and Neymar,
so PSG can still compete in the Champions League next season.

No, the chance isn't small then to get Messi if both players leave. There just is no chance to get Messi if the two leave. For no money in the world would Messi go to a club without any superstars whatsoever. Who would? Nobody would.

Real Madrid needs a superstar desperately. Chances are high that they will get Mbappé. I think Neymar could also go back to Barcelona.

PSG lost to City in the Champions League 2-1 tonight and I think it could lessen their morale in their next league match. PSG might make a mistake as they will have their minds mostly on the rematch against City. If they lose points and Lille make use of it nicely, then Lille will be even closer to the title for sure.

105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the best Sport to bet on ? on: April 20, 2021, 10:58:28 AM
It depends on the purpose for which you are placing your bets. If for the sake of making money, then you need to choose a more predictable sport, if in order to tickle your nerves, then less. For example, it is believed that men's and women's tennis are very different in predictability, since women are less emotionally stable and during a match the situation can radically change several times.

I agree, if you are playing for money personal preferences shouldn't be decisive. If you are watching games and just want the thrill while watching, well, obviously you place your bets on the sport you like to watch the most.

I once placed 9 bets on a Bundesliga match day, 8 games were correct and now the 9th game was about to start. That was the real deal in terms of fun and thrill. Tongue

For money though nobody would put 9 games down on a single betting ticket. Just doesn't make any sense.

that is a nice story you have there
how much did you win for this bet?
it finished positive?

did you get the last game right?

sports betting is quite hard to predict, but not impossible.

I thought I'll save that part of the story for later. Cheesy The last bet was on a win for the home team which was first in the league playing against the last. They led the game 2-0 and it turned out to be a draw in the end!!!!! Cheesy 2 - 2, omg...

This is ages ago and I couldn't easily secure the bet with a counter bet online. It is like 15 years ago or so when we still filled out those betting tickets. Fun time regardless can say for sure! Smiley

Jose Mourinho sacked

Jose Mourinho got sacked this morning, he had a heated argument with Levy yesterday after he learnt that Tottenham was part of the founding clubs of the European super league. According to several reports, Mourinho refused to take the players to morning training, he is one of the managers against the supper league. Tottenham plays Manchester City on Sunday in the League cup final, what an unfortunate time to get rip of Jose.. their sack will cost the club £30m.

Yes!! Anyone thinks he could be joining Bayern Munich? There will most likely be some discussion about him at Bayern. Don't think though that he is the character Bayern Munich is searching for.

Lille 1 - 1 Montpellier

Lille fluffed their title bid with a home draw tonight against 7th placed Montpellier; the draw means the title race is wide open; Awin for PSG tomorrow means PSG would be level but first on goal difference; what are your predictions for tomorrow Ligue 1 ties?

Angers - Rennes
Marseille - Lorient

It was a really interesting game. Montpellier got ahead 1-0 and managed to keep the score like that for a very long time. Lille tried everything they can and barely secured a point. There are only a few weeks left and they should be better to be able to win the title.

It was also a very interesting game considering that Monaco got the three points now!

Nobody would have expected I believe that Monaco maybe playing for the championship. A couple of weeks they were quite far behind, but they benefited from Paris being weak here and there and now Lille starts to be losing points as well.

Although I don't like the French Ligue as much, it still nice to see a close race at the top now. Makes it more exciting.

Paris was too dominant over the last years, wasn't really worth following what's happening.

Do you guys think Mbappé will be in Paris next year? What if he leaves, where does Neymar go? OR Messi to Paris? Wink
The next matchday (34th) will be highly critical because Lille will face OL Lyon at OL's Home while PSG and Monaco will encounter pretty weak team : Monaco will meet Angers away and PSG will play against Metz away. So there are odds for PSG to take the lead of the championship.

Interesting, but it is a bit sad that there are no real clashes anymore. I think all games between PSG, Monaco and Lille have already been played. So it is all about who will make a mistake in the last couple of games and who remains consistent and wins all of the remaining games.

Good that there is some excitement in an otherwise relatively boring soccer league.

Now it is going to be interesting on Friday when the UEFA has its meeting. Can you imagine that they really decide to exclude players from international tournaments (champions league, european league and international championships) if they play in the newly founded European Super League?

I am puzzled that even most coaches didn't know what was going on. At least they claim to have had no clue at all. Klopp said he got to know about it as early as everyone else - yesterday! Good he speaks out against that league, I don't like it either.
109  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ibrahimovic under FIFA and UEFA investigation on: April 20, 2021, 10:51:19 AM
Looking at the number of followers BethardOfficial has says they are not a big company yet which got me thinking.

You know how companies offer shares to someone or a company if they don't have the capacity to pay upfront...what if this is what happened, a deal was signed and they didn't have the money to pay Ibrahimovic as brand ambassador (**not sure if he is **) instead they offered him a 10% stake in the company which has put him up for investigation today. What's your take?

Well.. this sounds fishy to me. The number of followers are quite low, and still they made $35 million in profits that year? How can a relatively unknown company make this much profit in just one year? If the house advantage is 1%, and the cut for taxes and expenses is 50%, then we can assume that the annual turnover was somewhere around $7 billion. These numbers are huge, and I don't know how such an unknown entity can have this much turnover.

One possibility could be that Bethard is a corporation that operates many businesses under one roof. Maybe the 35 million stem from many sources? I don't know the company well enough to judge that but you are right, they would have to have enormous revenue in order to make a profit of 35 million.

Not sure if they are unknown in the market, I have heard of them quite often.
110  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do I need to pay Tax on my Crypto Gambling Winnings? A guide on: April 20, 2021, 10:49:12 AM
What you are saying makes perfect sense, if I am lucky to win a big. When going to cashout to a bank account, there will definitely be a question of
sources of income. I didn't think that far before, because until now I have never won in large numbers when playing gambling Cheesy. If caught
the source of income from gambling, my funds can be frozen or rejected Cry. Maybe I will cashout gradually, so as not to be suspected. Or do you have
any other good ideas?
Maybe you can send the win money to the other wallets, such as private wallets or wallets on the exchanges, and you can start to withdraw gradually. At least, that is what I did so far. I do not withdraw thousands of dollars at once, and if I want to withdraw thousands of dollars, I will divide it into two or three parts and withdraw it three times. That will not sound the bank's alarms because that will look like a normal transaction.

I wouldn't rely on that if I were you. At some point you want to cash out the money and financial authorities may scrutinize your account even in the future. What do you answer them if they ask you where the money comes from? Even if it's from another person because you sold from an exchange, they could ask you how you are related to that person.

You are playing a dangerous game my friend!
111  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do I need to pay Tax on my Crypto Gambling Winnings? A guide on: April 19, 2021, 01:22:48 AM
There are countries that addresses that every gain is taxable by law.

What countries? I don't think there's a country that imposed "every gain" is taxable. What more for low earners? Correct me on this if wrong.

Crypto winnings are unregulated. There shouldn't be any tax. The tax part will be on our cashout where our winnings will be sent first to a crypto exchanger then have it convert to cash. That exchange is regulated so they are the ones paying tax. The reason why we see their rates are low or having a crazy cashout to fiat fees.

As others said before you cannot say that per se. Taxes are treated very different across jurisdictions for any sort of tax, including taxes on gambling. When crypto is involved there might even be several taxes as it may be deemed a "gain" realized on asset appreciation as well once you place cryptocurrencies to bet on something, then if you win it might trigger the gambling tax.

Not an easy topic I guarantee guys!  Wink

Very very different from jurisdiction to jurisdiction! Even in Europe there are huge differences from country to country. There are even countries where there are differences within the countries because of their federal structure.

The only way is to attend a good tax advisor. Emphasis is put on GOOD tax advisor. They are not all the same and only few of them are interested in gambling and finding good solutions for the tax payer. Best investment to get a good tax advisor is TIME and MONEY. Don't just pick the first one around the corner.

Huh, so I looked around turns out the same issue was in talks already way back in 2018? Though I think it's a different case this time since the one back then was him taking the ambassadorial role for Bethard, and now this which is ownership(part) of the betting company. This might actually be closer to a ban if this is his 2nd strike of being related to gambling/betting. After all, having issues with almost the same reason with three same companies seems like a warrant for them to properly impose their punishment, lest they be seen as lenient or something.

The 2018 one: https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/03/21/zlatan-ibrahimovic-could-be-sanctioned-fa-after-involvement-new-betting-company

You are right. This is the same issue that surfaced in 2018.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-9470841/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-facing-three-year-ban-investment-betting-company-say-Swedish-reports.html

Quote
The report also details that the Swedish Football Association have been aware of the problem for three years and it is the reason the talismanic forward wasn't called up for the 2018 World Cup, though he did retire from international football in 2016 until returning last month.

Why do they take so much time to reach a decision? But it is not like Ibrahimovic hid his involvement with Bethard. He was quite vocal about his involvement with that company and was even announced as their brand ambassador back in 2018.

The likelihood he will get suspended is relatively small. His lawyers definitely checked the situation beforehand and even a Swedish soccer official said the rules are unclear, implying that they had a thorough look at them in advance.

You never know. They could also decide to make an example of him. It will be hard for them to do so though as there is a lot of corruption in soccer anyway and most of them get away with smooth penalties. Wercking Ibrahimovic now for something that is known for years doesn't make all too much sense and would have negative repercussions in public. Let's see how they decide to go about it.

Florentino Perez should be the president of the Superleague, announce could be a thing within 1 hour.

That guy is involved everywhere. If I understand correctly he wouldn't resign from his position at Madrid would he?

Even though I don't like the idea of this competition it would be better to have a more neutral person as a president.

Then again none of them is neutral anyway whether they are with a club right now or not.

This player is starting to look like the EPL player of the month as he was awarded for March according to Igehhh post on the African Football thread linked to his post below:
Nigeria and Leicester City striker Seniorman Kelechi Iheanacho has won the premier league player of the month of March after scoring 5 goals in 3 games. He became the fourth Nigerian to win this prestigious award.
Congratulations to him

2020-21 season Premier League Player of The Month winners.
September: Calvert-Lewin ( Everton)
October: Son Heung-min (Everton)
November: Bruno Fernandes (Manutd)
December: Bruno Fernandes( manutd)
January: Gundogan (Man city)
February: Gundogan (Man city)
March: Kelechi Iheanacho ( Leicester)

Scores for the foxes in this FA Cup match against Sotons just now to put them up 1-0.

He did pretty well in the last couple of games and deserved it I think. Sure you could find someone who overall performed better but might not have been as efficient as him, but still it's a nice trophy that may give him another boost for the rest of the season.

I recall Sané receiving the award in the past, but his performance went down the toilet afterwards.

Now he is playing very badly these days. Sometimes when I watch him I can't even believe he was once elected to be player of the month in the Premier League.
He still has good moments but he can't play on a high level for several games in a row let alone 90 minutes in a row in a single game. He is way too weak in switching to the defensive game.

Anyway, close race for the CL spots in the PL, Leicester with good chances.
116  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling experiment - Doubling small stake for big gains on: April 19, 2021, 01:03:27 AM
I just got my monthly rewards on Stake and since I did not use them much in the last month they were very small indeed. Idea is place full amount on one ticket every day. Odds will probably be between 2-3 and if the ticket is won, everything goes to the next ticket.

Goals:
To see how far I can push it. I am starting with just 0.0000649 BTC and I will continue to bet it all until I reach serious money level (maybe around half a BTC) or loose. It is possible that I will split the bank in case things are going well.

Expectations:
I am expecting to bust out after couple of tickets, this is not a system and there is no fail safe. It is just experiment to see how far I can go. I don't think I ever had a run lasting more than couple of days so this is a way to try and challenge that.

Re-buy:
I should get some small amounts on Stake every Saturday as weekly bonus so I'll probably give this challenge a couple of tries.

Ticket 1:

Try 1:
Ended on the first ticket. See above.

Try 2:
Starting stake: 0.00004878
Current stake: in play
Ticket 1

Cool, for how long are you going to run that experiment and how many tries will you give it?

My prediction is you will never make it further than match day #4. Tongue

I got you correctly you want to place one bet per day and see how far you can get? Do you apply minimum odds somehow or just bet whatever you like?

I have done similar experiments before and was amazed how often one gets surprised by an unexpected loss or result in general. Even the big clubs usually fail frequently.
117  Other / Off-topic / Re: European Super League on: April 19, 2021, 01:00:22 AM
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE CLUBS:

“Today 12 football clubs jointly announced an agreement competition, the Super League.

AC Milan, Arsenal, Atlético, Chelsea, Barcelona, Internazionale, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham have all joined.

Three more clubs are expected to join as Founding Clubs before the inaugural season, which is expected to start as soon as possible.

In the future, the Founding Clubs look forward to consulting with UEFA and FIFA in order to work together".

I have no idea what to think of this. The Nations League is already so boring, I usually don't watch a single game. I hope the Champions League will still be the same after they also start this Super League.

More games, more injured players, less fun in my opinion for everyone, players and fans.
118  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: April 19, 2021, 12:58:20 AM
Its nice to see two young talented players make the final. Stefanos Tsitsipas has not really had much competition in this tournament however he has played well without losing a set. I think this is he's time to shine and step up to become a more consistent player and when tournament finals but it won't be an easy match as Rublev has also been in good form and even upset Nadal so he will have all the momentum going into the final and confidence to win. Its going to be a great match.

Exactly, he seems to be very comfortable with clay court and been playing very well in this tournament. But the last time they fought, Stepanos lost to Rublev, so it's a revenge game for him. It will be very tough one for Tsitsipas here, Rublev is slight favourite as per odds, nevertheless I will put a bet on Stepanos ML @2.05 boosted, and goodluck to all bettors.

I do hope you put your money on Tsitsipas as he won in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

Tsitsipas race on a comfortable lead in the first set and never get Rublev a chance to rally, he break early and that's what he needed to keep his momentum going. If I'm not mistaken, he hasn't drop a set in this tournament entering the finals.

You bet I did:

Tsitsipas is very confident in clay court, as you have said, he started very quick and fast in the 1st set of the match. First 1000 Masters for him, congrats and good win. Julia Apostoli, Stepanos mom, also won in Monte Carlo years ago.

Was about time for Tsitsipas. He was often very close to winning something of meaning, but then failed in the final. On a good day he can beat everyone.

Shocking how Djokovic and Nadal were eliminated. I am curios about the French Open this year.

Will also be interesting to see what role Roger Federer will play. I don't think he will make it very far, but I thought the same back when he won the Australian Opn again. Seeing how Nadal was eliminated on clay, maybe the French Open this year are by no means an easy win for him. Maybe he won't make it very far at all.

Then again he turns himself into a beast when it's about the French Open.

For money though nobody would put 9 games down on a single betting ticket. Just doesn't make any sense.

I've heard about this news before and it was really disappointing that there are people who will do things like that just for the sake of money.
When in terms of money, everything is possible.  It's no longer a question as there are many participants who rides with this

kind of annoying business, fixed game is a big venue for those players and gamblers, money are flowing around as we knew it.

Quote
Those people shouldn't involve themselves in sports anymore because they aren't playing fairly which is disrespectful for society and the basketball community.

I agree! those players should avoid playing anymore, they should stop and live a life away from this sports. They are annoying and they'll just
continue messing it up if given a chance.

Honestly, there is no way around it. If you look at how many games you can bet on, unknown sports and unknown leagues, now even online with cryptocurrency, I am damn sure that there is so much fraud going on all over the place.

It is impossible to control for everything in my opinion. Now with cryptocurrencies, even more impossible than impossible.

If somebody is caught I think the penalty should extremely high, maybe exclusion from sports for years.
