101  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 43 blocks solved! on: May 05, 2015, 03:08:43 AM
I had a bitcoin I bought earlier today burning a hole in my pocket, so I rented some hashpower, within a few minutes I had a share over 1G, a few minutes later another share over 3G, a few minutes later my best share was lower meaning someone found a block, surely it wasn't me after only mining with my rentals for 20 minutes. I couldn't believe it when I saw my new address as the payout. I picked it because it had 7's in it and hashesez, I liked to think it was my lucky address because it "hashes easy" lol

Man this is addicting and I'm finally out of the red!

That was fast!  Congrats!

5 in a row? No way... we need an expert opinion here Smiley
The force is strong in this one.

Will that do?

I believe in the force.   Grin  Congrats 727!!

(It was supposed to be my turn!!).  Cheesy

Hey congrats again 727!!  Wow!  Ok... Now my turn!!   Cool

Kano
Is there better software I should be running on Antminers?  I would like to make sure I'm getting the most from hardware.

at this point in mining anything that helps could make the difference of tuning them off or let them run .
No, I asked bitmain to fund (10BTC) doing work on the S1/S2/S3 and they said no they are too old and wont waste money on them.
...
Wow, gotta say, totally awesome.

Bitmain of course dropped the ball on this and have given up on anyone who bought their S1/S2/S3 saying they don't care.

However, someone (who wants to remain anonymous) has sent me 10BTC and asked me to do the S1/S2/S3 work.

Guess I'll be spending the time on this over the next 2 weeks that I was asking to do and get the S1/S2 updated and sort out some p2pool issues, and also merge a working S3 into cgminer master Smiley
(and of course dust off my old S1/S2 and get them working again)

The kano.is pool problems (and a backend ckdb change I've been working on) have been taking a lot of my (and of course -ck's) time, but I think I can handle both (if I ignore everything else Tongue)

Good news Smiley

Wow, what a great community!

Thanks to the generous anonymous person who financed that and thank you Kano for taking the time to do it.   Smiley

Seeing 3 ~400% blocks on the blocks page is indeed evil Undecided
I wonder if there is some magic chant to stop that from happening ever again ...
Seems I need to go back to making sacrifices to the Block Gods
Well the shift name of this one and the last one were the same: Yuno
Maybe she could help with making the sacrifices Smiley

Lol I just looked at the image and I'd rather have her on our side than on the enemy side.  For sure she could help for the sacrifices...  Cheesy

Thanks lightsword!  We needed you!!

+4.76 to +5.00% for me this round.

Good luck to all!

You guys are too early, it's not 300 blocks yet, still about 60 to go.

well i'm out of the game anyway, with my +6, i doubt it will increase so much, we are at negative now

only +6%? we, the small guys, we don't know but... it can also be +15% this time!
hopefully not! Grin

the sea is very calm at the moment....

Well in less than a week, Bitmain will unplug their S4+'s to start shipping.  That would, I guess, slow the network down...

We should have seen them on network I would guess.  I would think they did a burn in test at least with them.  There was a jump one day on antpool last week, I'm curious if it happened to be the S4+'s.

I'd guess so, they say on their site they've been testing them... Sometimes in dusty areas.  That's why they may look like they're used even if they're "brand new".  Smiley

Guys using pool btc calculator http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php

 i entered 4ths and i got this

Your Average 1diff Shares per Minute:    55,879.3545 shares/min

does that means 4ths power has 55,879 in 47,610,564,513 (current difficutly) chances a minute to find a block of bitcoins?

All shares submitted does is shows the pool you are working to solve the block.  The number submitted has to do with the difficulty you are mining to the pool at.  It has nothing to do with the odds of solving a block.

Yes it does mean that. That's the correlation between diff and shares. Each 1 diff share has 1 in 47billion chance of finding a block.

Hum, I'm surprised, I would have thought each 1-diff share has (MAX_DIFF - CURRENT_DIFF) in MAX_DIFF chance of finding a block, since share diff must be above current diff, not exactly current diff.  Now I wonder what is the MAX_DIFF... Smiley

I like the idea of waiting after the first 300 blocks before taking the guesses, without switches.  Simple and more thoughtful than gambling.

That being said, I think the down trend will continue with temperatures warming up and btc price not going up...

So, I'm driving into work today and my phone goes off and I see this:

I literally freak out in traffic  Shocked. I've been mining off and on here since CK started the pool. Came real close to hitting a block a few weeks back and about 3 days ago I decided that I would spend a few coins and rent some hash (around 100 - 150T everyday). I knew it was a long shot and tbh I was about to give up renting today. I've only mined one other block (269489) with a Block Erupter USB stick back on Slush's pool in Nov 2013 and that's what started my obsession with Bitcoin mining. It's true that life does throw you a bone once in a while  Cheesy Thanks to CK for this pool, when this block matures, I'll send a tip your way.

Congrats!  Haha I'm sure that made your traffic jam more bearable.  Now I have 2 questions: where did you rent?  And are you using IFTTT to get notifications on BTC deposits?

115  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 15, 2015, 12:13:46 PM
Since you are a farmer on a farm you should be able to take part in the IRS tax cuts for farmers!!!  Cheesy

LOL!  I wish.  I actually wouldn't even try asking... Wink

116  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 14, 2015, 02:42:40 AM

Big plans, that's cool.  That's actually what I am planning right now, starting with a dedicated 200A next week and another 200A in a few months.  Then I'll see.  Electrician is coming next week but first I have to install some infrastructure (utility pole for the new electric line, underground wires, etc.) It is an exciting project, and with summer coming, wife, kids and friends starting to complain about the heat, I have no choice but moving my miners out of the 4 houses I'm using right now for all of them.   Wink

200Amps of miners will be crazy hot , i have only 60Amps and the heat is insane , my 2nd floor gets to 89 degress when its only 50-70outside

The two 200A panels won't be here in my home, the noise and heat would be intolerable.  I found a place that I rent on a farm, some kind of huge garage with no isolation and great ventilation, where I will install my little mining farm.  A farm within a farm, isn't it poetic?   Grin

Sounds great!!!

What are your electricity costs per kWH?

Around 0.07$ per kWh, which is ok but I wish it was 0.04$ per kWh like in Washington.  But up here in Quebec, temperatures don't get as high as down there.  Hydroelectricity is cheap and temperature is cool, ideal for mining.  Smiley

And women are hot.  Wink

wouw this is amazing  Shocked
i have got 10 Th (5 S4's) and i cant put more miners in my company, because our buildings electricity board cant handle more Sad
good work Wink

Thank you Cyper_BLC.

Mine can't handle anymore either until I get my power upgraded.  I found my limit when I added six (6) S5's to what you see in the picture.  The main breaker tripped after I turned on the 5th S5 with the AC going, 2 eyes on the stove top going, the oven going and the dryer going.  So, I'm not running the stove top and oven at the same time as the dryer or at the same time as the dish washer at the moment.  I turned off some S3's to have all S5's going.

I'm looking forward to upgrading the power.  I'm doubling the amps.  That means my income tax return will be gone once I get back - lol.  It's kind of expensive to upgrade power.  I'm not sure if I'm bumping up to 400 amps or 500 amps.  I suppose it depends on what my present "feeder" (service) cable can handle.  If it can handle 600 amps, I'll go ahead and upgrade to 600 amps.  It may be good for only 400 or 500 though.  It should be done by the end of May or first part of June.  There's a chance I might wait on spending that money upgrading power here to spend it on power at my next location.  I haven't decided yet.  Still doing the math.

119  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4 Discussion and Support Thread on: April 13, 2015, 01:29:13 PM

I have fourteen (14) IBM 2880W PSU's with breakout boards sitting around the house waiting to be used on something.  Maybe I will get lucky and not have to worry about a stock PSU going out on my S4's. If it occurs, I will be ready.

PS - Is anyone else having issues with not being notified of a post in a forum you are "watching" and have told it to "notify" you?

I am also about to give a try to those 2880W PSU for my faulty S4 PSU's.  I still have to figure things out about what plugs/connectors/wires I need.  Working with 240V is not something usual for me.

Hey, I thought there was no new messages in most of the thread I'm watching... Which doesn't make sense.  So I guess there's something wrong with the forums right now.

30A 2 pole breaker, 10-2 wire, L6-30 R, 240V 30A PDU, C19-C20 cables for connecting PSUs to PDU. Best way to do it. Smiley

Thanks!  What PDU are you using?  Running on 240V, you can connect up to 4 S4's on your 30A PDU (~6.5A/S4@240V), which is nice.  You then need 2 2880W PSU.  Am I correct?

If I go with 40A breaker, that will allow me to connect 6 S4 on a 40A PDU.  What wire gage will I need?  Is 10/2 enough?

120  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee anonymous solo bitcoin mining! 33 blocks solved! on: April 13, 2015, 02:02:05 AM

Every time I wanted to quit my pursuit to solomine a block I would look at the photo above my miners with a quoute from Eleanor Roosevelt that reads "THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN THE BEAUTY OF THEIR DREAMS."

I have been solo-mining for much of 2014 on my own node with 230GH/s and with no luck.

In December 2014 I picked up three antminer s1's and two antminer c1's but could not figure out how to solo-mine on my own node with the antminer c1's so I have been exclusively solo-mining between three different solo-mining pools with those miners, although I shut off a few of the s1's about a month ago due to the heat.

Also last month, I rented 1.5PH's for a few hours with no luck either, and also 120THs for about a day and a half.

At times you just want to throw in the towel and give up, And then when you least expect it life may just throw you a bone.

Although I am still in the hole a little bit, this has almost brought me back to even, and I must say that the sense of accomplishment was worth it. I can now say that I have found a block!

So don't give up, and don't throw your life savings renting hashpower, because in this game there are no guarantees and 2TH's can win just the same as 1.5PH

Good luck to you all, may the next block be yours!

Nice, thanks for sharing.  I found 6 blocks in pools in the last year, now I'm pointing my S1's here hoping they can reproduce the exploit solo.  Hope, hope... I thought it would happen earlier, and I sometimes think I should just unplug them... And then I read your message.  Great and congrats!
