I think the pool is dead. Undecided

There is absolutly no need for an apology. If anyone thinks the down time is due to laziness,  neglect or anything like that is mad.

Thanks to the both of ya for all your hard work. Cheers.

Yes, You guys are great!

I agree........... I never meant anything like that.  I wish I had quarter of you and Kano's talent.

You guys work your asses off. Please don't think it's not appreciated.

Why not start another pool and test all of the updates. I would be willing to send 1th for testing.
We test the eyeballs off the pool code before putting it live. The reality is testing even with 100 clients of 100TH will not reveal stuff that will happen when you unload 5000 clients with 5PH onto it.

Sorry  .... I know nothing about code.  I live by the Baseball rule. If you try something 3 times with the same result then you need to change.

Wow   I won't be renting any hash pointed here anymore. This sucks.
Most of my work has gone to BTC Guild.

Smack Smack  Smack   3 blocks ...... I love this Pool.   Grin Grin

And another ... block 339552 just popped  Grin

The force is strong in this pool.

52.5% of diff Smiley
So that makes for the current 1000 blocks (339nnn) we have 14/553 = 2.5% Smiley

The pool luck has been extraordinary. I can't help but wonder if all of the restarts some how effect the work sent to our miners.
We sure seem to work on productive hash.

I prefer to think it is just well written software!

Thanks for running a great pool.

Pool keeps going down then back up. It's driving my rented miners crazy.

Well the only issues for the last hour should have been that you can't see the web site.
Mining dropped off twice much earlier but it should only have been the web site that was unavailable after the 2nd time.
Web is back up now (ckdb reload has completed properly) and ckdb is syncing with ckpool (that red number at the bottom left)
Once that reaches 0 (may take a while) all the web site should be up to date.

Thanks for the update. Time to round up  some wild miners, it reminds me of trying to find cattle when the pasture gate is left open.

One of my worker instances is a collection of 30 U2's. It is stuck with the pool default Diff at 1.02k since the restart. I'm guessing that won't change till everything is back in sync?
Hmm ...
If you have a worker diff on the web site, then yes the sync will affect that.
If on the other hand, you don't have a worker diff specified, it will just take a while for ckpool to decide to change the diff.
Diff starts at 1024 by default.
Unfortunately, the auth part of the reload is taking quite a long time, so stats are still not up on the web site yet.
... that was the main problem, authorisation was taking too long so everyone was failing to authorise and repeat authorising.
That's ok for normal workers, but for the few big miners with thousands of connections, it wasn't able to deal with it, thus why the code change I mentioned above that will go in later today also.

Any updates?  I have some miners that have gone back to CK but others that have not.

It's times like this I don't envy you.  Thank you for your hard work.
110  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] CKPool (www.kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: January 10, 2015, 12:26:25 AM
Since we've now found 77 blocks since the pool started, I'm going to setup a little prize for lower THs miners (above 800GHs but under 50THs) for one person to win between now and when we find block 100.

There will be absolutely no confusion or issue about the prize unlike other pools have had, once I post the full details soon Smiley

... sounds fun ... hope the prize is a coupon I can use with my electricty supplier  Grin

It will be an SP20 sent direct from Spondoolies.

WOW! that's VERY GENEROUS !!!! I'll Have to give each one of my miners a little rub for luck.

Thank you for running a great pool.

Good luck to all!!
111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: January 04, 2015, 04:13:01 PM
Anybody know where to download SP20 firmware?  It shows in the gui that you can update from file.  After going down to 2.5.12 and now my machine thinks its a Dawson, I would like to reload the correct firmware.  You don't get those options after installing the 2.5.12.

I found the tech blog and how to create a recovery sd.  Except after doing it, noticed it was a micro SD slot.  Had to head home, so was hoping I could just load a correct firmware version from file since I can do that remotely.  Haven't been able to locate their firmware files on their website or github yet.

Thanks.

I did the same thing!! My sp20 thought it was a sp10 !!!  Spent 4 hours trying to do a recover but could not get it to work. I had to do the boot from SD card to make it a sp20 again.
My question is-- Can I ever run the recovery SD and remove the SD card or should I just leave the boot SD card in forever ?

If you make recovery SD you MUST remove it before you reboot. Else it will reformat it over and over again.

When I ran the recovery everything seemed to work fine, the lights blinking back and forth. But when I removed the SD card and power cycled it would not boot up. The SD boot image worked fine. I'm thinking I will keep the boot SD card in as the miner works fine.
I do wish you could identify software better.    But it was my bad.

Yeah we're over 2PH at the moment ... not sure for how long but anyway Smiley
Edit: OK it's quite variable - we'll see where it ends up ... it was 2PH for the past hour but it's now dropping again.

I was just going to ask you what was going on, we were 2.2 ph for awhile there. Antminer was even back for awhile.
Yeah I only woke up shortly before my post - he's rearranging his setup - it may be a little while yet until it's all sorted.

is lightsword dropping in and out?

I don't know but it is wreaking havoc on my projected payout. Don't want to bitch but my payout is down 30% plus from what it was this morning and we are back down to 164 TH. I appreciate the extra hash but need to build in some safe guards to prevent this hopping in and out.

All you have to do is solve the block......................or buy more hardware....Miners will come and go.
115  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1700 TH] CKPool (www.kano.is) from the cgminer devs [0.9% PPLNS] on: November 26, 2014, 01:00:51 AM
Well, anyone looking at the CDF, that 0.98 means that all pools should average one block like that or longer in every ~50 blocks.
That being the pool's 25th successful block, means it's not at all unexpected.

But at least the average since the pool started is still looking pretty good Smiley
69.52% of diff average per block.
i.e. we've found ~1.44 times the number of expected blocks so far.

A long block like that indeed affected those two numbers as I said in that post on the previous page, but that luck streak before has kept the average better than expected.
Of course if you start mining at any time, the expected long term average is 100%, but the shorter term average will of course vary a lot more.

That all being said, the one thing that makes that guaranteed variance easier to bear with PPLNS, is the higher pool hash rate.
We are slowly climbing up there, but of course the more hash rate the better Smiley
1700TH means at the moment an expected average block time of ~1day 4.25hrs so it's getting better Smiley

That last block was nothing like the 1st block we mined here.  It was 23 days,(very low pool hash rate) but I was paid very well.
   Thanks Kano.

Use this equation for your payout. I'm sure it will work well for you.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

If you don't like the pool don't point your miners here.

Also if you don't understand the payouts ...STOP MINING and WHINING.

Google is a wonderful thing, if you would spend your time educating yourself, rather than whining, Roll Eyes you would understand the payout terms.

best of luck

Dude

Not whining.

Simply trying to help others avoid the same mistake

Lol

Do what I did and see what happens

Why an ass hole?

Who said anything about not liking the pool?

I talked well about the pool but it was deleted earlier.

What's the use, I'm probably arguing with a damn kid anyway.

OK, after yesterdays unexpected restart, I'll mention here before hand, so people know before hand.
About to do another restart of ckdb, for the payout fix, so the web will shows 0 stats for a while.
Hopefully this time no unexpected ckpool restart, but we'll see what happens.
I'll of course start it asap if that happens.
All back up.
The problem seems to be just a display problem and not affecting the correct payout.
My change didn't fix the display problem, but it made it clear that's what it probably is.
Will verify for certain then do the payout shortly.

Thanks for your dedication and hard work!!!  Shocked Grin
