He's right in saying is that governments will not tolerate unregulated transactions. They will try their best to prevent it. If they can't impose regulations on something, they're bound to ban it.

Regulations are already popping up all over the place; I think that's the way it will go for the majority of governments. Some still may have a knee-jerk reaction to ban it because they don't know (yet) how to regulate it.

If you'd ask me Bitcoins are easier to track than cash.

Thanks for the find. The conversation is getting interesting. "Shoe on your head" lol

103  Other / Meta / Re: In Russian section constantly disappear threads on: November 04, 2015, 01:09:57 AM
So you are saying the later post should have been removed?

No need to alter my words, I'm not talking about this
I want to know why the same topic created earlier considered as repeat and deleted

But this is not the main issue

I just try to understand your issue. Two threads for a single topic are commonly removed, it only leads to cluttered discussions at best.

If possible they should be merged. Otherwise it makes sense to keep the one that has the best discussion; even though it may have been created later.

Being born first doesn't give a thread any privileges ;-)
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal to add Bitcoin symbol to Unicode on: November 04, 2015, 12:44:49 AM
It has been approved!

https://twitter.com/ken_lunde/status/661351862155669506

Now all the font designers can start submitting the symbol to be added to their favorite font!

Well done. It's about time Bitcoin got some font recognition.

Also saw someone on Twitter complain how they do not approve of the symbol. They seem to miss that the symbol already is. Adding it to Unicode is just an acceptance that this is an actual symbol being used in the world.

And the empire strikes back Wink
http : // satoshibox . com / <I, Bruno, redacted this part which consisted entirely of digits>

The thread in question consisted of the above OP. I modified the link so it doesn't work, but was functional in the original OP.

It's a spam/phishing attempt. They're back with a different account: (probably to be nuked on short notice)

I find this way more amusing than I should. It's quite refreshing after all those clips from Der Untergang.
107  Other / Meta / Re: Poster not on topic ! on: October 29, 2015, 07:26:15 AM
This user is spamming advertisements for their cam site. That is a real issue. They're making many consecutive posts which - if not blatantly against forum rules - is pretty much not done on any forum. They're doing this in multiple threads.

Ad spamming like this is a reason to report for sure.
108  Other / Meta / Re: My bitcointalk account is hacked !! on: October 20, 2015, 09:13:16 AM
I apologize for derailing this thread. I won't post in this thread again after this.

I'm sorry if I offended you, notlist3d. While i disagree with your advice to mail twice a week you're correct about the OP not being very forthcoming with information.

Unholycactus however added nothing and i just swept you in with them. Not my finest moment. I should have meta-ed or pm-ed it either way.

On topic: OP, give more specific and explicit information so the community can help you better.

No offense but have you actually read the topic before replying? You've not given any new advice at all. Everything you posted was already suggested earlier and the op stated they followed those instructions already.

You didn't just post to increase your post count for your sig campaigns, did you?

Any Idea ?

You did not reset your password to e-mail. You changed it while you were logged in.

111  Other / Meta / Re: Requesting-Vod be prevented deleting posts Self Modded thread/Removed from DT on: October 16, 2015, 12:37:02 AM
The fact that Quickseller has been digging this long and has yet to come up with something convincing (say, charging someone for a self-escrow, faking a ban or being generally deceitful) to get them removed from Default Trust has increased my trust in Vod.

Well done, Quickseller.
112  Other / Meta / Re: Someone from DefaultTrust just killed my pot. Sr. Member account for no reason! on: October 09, 2015, 07:01:51 AM
In https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=844310.msg11453983#msg11453983 for instance:

"they keep on paying months after month disproving all BS lies"

It's very common for Ponzi apologists to claim that "still paying" somehow proves it's not a Ponzi.

OP isn't simply reporting on the facts as he claims. He's using faulty logic to promote a likely scam.

--

I'm not sure whether it's worth addressing QS' veiled attacks. Probably not.

Still paying? Hah. Technically pbmining is still paying as well. So that proves very little.
113  Other / Meta / Re: "You must be this tall to ride" Threads on: October 08, 2015, 01:34:12 AM
Any thoughts about allowing thread creators to allow a minimum activity level before being allowed to post in the thread ?

It's not uncommon to see newbies attempting to derail discussions in some threads, and this could be an effective method to prevent trolling and derailing.

I forgot to address your actual goal. Prevent trolling and derailing. Is that really done mostly by newbies? I see plenty of "established" accounts trolling and derailing. Or cluttering up threads to increase there post count for their signature campaigns. I don't really see many newbies doing that... But if they do, what do you thing causes them to do it? If they're real "newbies" (not alt accounts created just for trolling or for account farming) then maybe we could educate them instead, like I mentioned before.

i like these one. mostly newbies today is just an alt of someone to start a "question regarding something" thread and will attract signature spammers which in most cases all they are saying is the same

I am afraid you're right. But I think that should be addressed at a different level. Not by everyone who's creating threads.
edit: but every thread, including this one, attracts sig spammers ;-)

My point being that you can be well and established before becoming a Jr. Member, making it really uncomfortable to get adjusted to the forum based on silly time-constraints.
Another possibility would be Labeling an account "Brand New" until 15 Activity and implementing the aforementioned system.

This thread is about allowing thread creators to specify a minimal required activity level to participate in the discussion. If there's a specific issue with the lending section maybe we could start a new thread to discuss that?
114  Economy / Services / Re: Buying trust: Get BTC for giving me feedback on: October 08, 2015, 01:19:30 AM
You've made a big mistake....

Your price isn't anywhere near what it should be  Wink

This post is sarcastic, don't buy feedback.
115  Other / Meta / Re: "You must be this tall to ride" Threads on: October 08, 2015, 01:04:43 AM
You could achieve your goal by starting a self-moderated thread. There are rules on this forum and on a self-moderated thread you can tell people to get out. Even in a normal thread it's not allowed to post off topic, so posts derailing a thread can and should be reported. I'd rather see us educating the willing newbies.

Limiting threads to a minimum activity level is an inverted newbie jail. And it will not keep out any of the signature spammers who bought an member+ account. It will even hardly hinder account farmers.

I do understand that it takes more effort than simply closing a thread off to those with less than x activity....
116  Other / Meta / Re: Someone from DefaultTrust just killed my pot. Sr. Member account for no reason! on: October 06, 2015, 01:49:26 AM
By having zero trading experience (at least from the account he is leaving ratings from), he lacks the experience to be able to reach a middle ground with others, and lacks the ability to show that he has a history of acting reasonable.

1) You're sure they're a sockpuppet
2) You claim they lack experience

To be able to draw that conclusion you must know the owner behind the account and their experience level. Do you? Or are you jumping to conclusions.

In other news, there are no requirements for a position on default trust. Generally, if your feedback is spot on you'll get there. Regardless of any trading history, post/activity count, the number of hairs on your head. Stop imagining rules where there are none.
117  Other / Meta / Re: Requesting-Vod be prevented deleting posts Self Modded thread/Removed from DT on: October 05, 2015, 01:40:04 AM
I think this quote/post is important enough that it deserves it's own post to highlight how Vod acts around here:
archive
I believe I am the true Virtual God, and I have been for the last three years here on this forum.  My afterlife is exclusive - no other afterlife exists.

Like you posted, you need to prove that my afterlife does not exist.

Until you can prove that, your afterlife cannot exist.   Undecided
^^empathizes his

The above shows that Vod literally is going around saying that he is the God of the forum, which is obviously not true.

The above quote and the quotes in the above post are evidence of the lack of respect that Vod shows to those who do not share the same opinion that he has, and that he is not willing to rationally discuss any decision that he has made that negatively affects others.

This this kind of person really someone who is appropriate to be on DefaultTrust? Is the ratings of this person really what we want to see a new user of Bitcoin/the forum to see by default?

Vod has on many occasions rationally discussed his decisions. Your point is invalid.

None of that "I am trying to show you the silliness of your belief by making the baseless claim that I am God" relates to the quality of Vod's feedback. Has he been leaving negatives for people because they argue that he is not God?! I doubt it. But keep monitoring Vod closely and try to spin everything he does into "this kind of person" does not belong on default trust. It's somewhat entertaining in a weird way.
118  Other / Meta / Re: Ban appeal - TradeFortress; re theymos dox on: October 01, 2015, 08:53:44 AM
I am not TradeFortress

OK, but you've lied about your alts before:

I am not QS

so why should we believe you now?

Well, tf is banned. Their alt is quiet. I'm going to assume their ban appeal was denied and they're waiting out the ban.

If Quickseller is an alt of tf than they're either clever enough to fool BadBear or they'd be perma banned for ban evasion.
119  Other / Meta / Re: Where can I appeal against ban? on: October 01, 2015, 12:33:25 AM
One of my account has been banned for 14 days for Insubstantial posts+sig ad.I strongly believe that if given a chance I can prove that account was banned for invalid reasons.I cant post from that account and I dont have any idea who should I appeal to hear my case

This thread is (was?) your chance. I have seen no proof whatsoever. Either start proving or stop posting during your ban.
120  Economy / Reputation / Re: ABitNut Abusing trust system. on: September 25, 2015, 02:56:03 AM
It is ok. He earn 3 times more on loan that mean it is ok. And i really dont care what u think:)

I disagree. It's not ok to default on a loan.

And you sure post here a lot for someone who doesn't care.
