Site update:

OK, most respondents seem pretty happy with the way the leaflets are turning out.

We will reformat for European A4 size paper as well as per a couple of requests.

That won't be for a week or two, I need to complete the user pamphlet yet and I'm only managing to work on that in "spare" time at the moment.

Thanks also to 2tejszy for his kind offer to translate the leaflets into Polish for us. I'll get appropriate format docs delivered just as soon as I can.

As far as opening the thread goes, that depends on availability of one of us to monitor the thread & take out the trash. I'll try to open it for at least a few hours each day but always remember you can stay current by following @CannabisCoins on twitter.

Have a great day all and remember to share a smile with someone new today Cheesy

Who'd like to help outline a tutorial for novices?

Trying to catch up on distributable leaflets. Looking for suggestions on presenting a "how-to" for complete novices. This one is for dispensaries to distribute to clients.

Publishable area is severely restricted - it has to fit on a US letter-sized sheet printed double-sided as a bi-fold pamphlet and it must include pictures.

Assume that direct purchase of CANN with USD is unavailable, which is true for most people at time of writing.

That would suggest that precise instructions are required for:

• Installing a CannabisCoin wallet on your computer.
• Installing a CannabisCoin wallet on your Android device.
• Getting your first bitcoin - probably point to a source with integral wallet - otherwise need to add
• Installing a bitcoin client - not a full node but something like Armory or Electrum
• Open a trading account - probably suggest BitTrex as where most CANN trading takes place
• Buying your first CannabisCoin [CANN]
• Sending your coin to your wallet
• Only sending what you need or mean to use to your phone wallet.

That's a lot to fit onto a single sheet of paper. You do not have to follow that list if you think you can do better.

Suggested text and/or pics to b4zz4.code@yahoo.com please.

While we are discussing distributable pamphlets I'm looking for some help.

Has anyone got a favorite explanation of cryptocurrencies for complete novices?

Does anyone think they can adequately describe the advantages of crypto and/or block chain technology in under 500 words? A link to Satoshi Nakamoto's Bitcoin paper may be included.

Please send ideas to b4zz4.code@yahoo.com for potential inclusion into a suite of downloadable printable images of double-sided bi-fold pamphlets.

The first three under construction and review are themed "CannabisCoin, what's in it for dispensaries?" and "What's a cryptocurrency and what will it do for me?" aimed primarily at dispensaries and a third pamphlet dispensaries can distribute to patients on how they can use CannabisCoin. The patient distributable particularly must not be technical or complicated and can refer interested parties to website tutorial videos.

Any format will be considered and all assistance is greatly appreciated.

Can someone with actual legit inside info on cann give some insight as to where they see things by say, Jan 2016??

It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future or so Yogi Berra allegedly said.

It is a remark particularly apropos of the rapidly evolving nature of marijuana legislation in the United States.

Can I give you specific dates for completion of any phase or side project? Simple answer is no and the stated policy here is announcement ex post facto, in part to minimize coin pumping attempts.

I can tell you that I have no reason to change my original publicly-stated estimate of likely commercial crop availability in the first quarter 2016. That estimate has not changed since I made it second quarter, 2014.

Are all project deliverables on schedule? No. Mea culpa! I am several weeks behind on some project non-criticals, a situation with which anyone involved in complex multi-year projects is all too familiar, I am sure.

Am I still as confident about the project as I was when invited to join? No. I was originally hopeful - now I am confident.

CANNABIS INDUSTRY BANK APPLICATION REJECTED BY FEDERAL RESERVE & NCUA
                           https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/cannabis-industry-bank-application-rejected-federal-reserve-ncua/

This is an opportunity.  Hopefully someone in crypto with the smarts and the determination acts on it.

As most are indeed aware. The reality of "acting on it" however always means that at some point you still need access to financial services to facilitate the free exchange of fiat currencies and that is where much of the long grind and heavy lifting has been expended for more than a year. Despite popular opinion the team members do not spend their time playing cards.

Edit with update: The bottom line is that marijuana remains federally illegal and it is up to voters to contact their congressman and senate representative to demand change federally if they wish to see marijuana patients get access to their medication without threat or harassment.

how i can spend my coin outside USA?
because i want this coin has a value to buy something not only for exchange it to btc..

At present there are no easy options for doing so. In due course we will be releasing pamphlets so that supporters may approach dispensaries in their own region with reasons they may wish to join the Yes We CANN movement and the advantages of dealing in CannabisCoin as well as or indeed instead of fiat currencies. Other projects are underway to increase transferability and acceptance of CANN in the wider community but these must be completed prior to announcement.

Thank you Polly Stripe, haven't tried your faucet but it looks good so I've announced it on irc.freenode.net #cann.

Should appear on the OP in the next few days.

Hi guys! We've added your coin in our multifaucet! Smiley

Check it out http://free-crypto.com/cann/

You faucet have on start with value 0.0005 BTC if you want to run your faucet longer you should donate something  Wink

Have a nice day!
Hmm...

Anyone bothered to check it out?

All I saw was that it was dry before it began whining about my ad blocking.

Couple of things, one of which may have nothing to do with the above-linked free-crypto site:

• I've been caught a couple of times donating CANN to alleged faucet addresses that were not actually distributing CANN.
• This faucet is not connected with CannabisCoin in any way of which I am aware.
• The promo says it should have had a starting stock of BTC0.0005 or something over 30 CANN, did anyone see any funds in the faucet or being distributed therefrom?
• If you do choose to donate to this faucet please start small and report back as to the success of your donation (did the faucet stop claiming to be dry, was it possible to get a drip from the faucet...).

It may be a perfectly reasonable ad-supported site but please be careful with your coin. Always remember when in the cryptosphere that it is good practice to keep your hand on your wallet.

Honestly the core wallet functions as intended and doesn't need to be changed.

IMHO However, the Android wallet could be improved upon with coding and syncing as it tends to crash frequently while updating and there is maybe 3 people connected at a time

You're right, the initial Android sync takes way too long and it's a problem already on the books guys. We'll get to it Smiley

Do you realize you are cycling faster James? Roll Eyes

You have no idea who claimed what from the initial scrypt mining phase or when they did so, anymore than you know who did the initial mining, whether any was done by or for ∆9 or anything else for that matter. What you have is block chain-recorded transactions indicating some of the coins generated to facilitate the change of algorithms ended up on BitTrex (major surprise!) and were likely sold when CANN prices were absurdly high last October (even bigger surprise!!). Sounds like an intelligent decision by the owner at that time.

Apparently everyone but you would be perfectly happy had ∆9 raised some capital in that manner although by his own statement he did not. More power to whoever took advantage of prematurely high prices. Just think James, it could have been ... me.  Shocked Shocked Shocked

At this rate you'll desperately drag out the old Max_Money chestnut by tomorrow Cheesy

So that's it?  No trying to improve the software from your end?

Settle down, still haven't even got 'doze 7 finished updating yet, so can't try to replicate your problem.

And no, tweaking the wallet is not a priority at this time.

Thanks.  Really appreciate it...  Anyway, have to go to dinner then out.  Enjoy the rest of the weekend guys!

Hmm... I've configured virtualbox down to a single processor & 2Gb of RAM making 'doze 7 unbearably slow to try to use & so far I haven't managed to keep the wallet splash screen for a full 60 seconds.

How large is your debug.log file? - access it by hitting the Start button & typing (or pasting) %AppData%\Roaming\CannabisCoin into the search box, then click the offered link to get to \Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming\CannabisCoin. If you right-click debug.log Windows should offer to compress the file (or add it to archive or some such thing). If the resultant zip file is less than 2Mb you should have no trouble emailing it to b4zz4.code@yahoo.com (or @gmail.com, either will reach me). If 'doze can't compress the log sufficiently or your email service doesn't allow reasonable-sized attachments could you please upload it to a free file sharing site and send a link instead?

I'll try some more tomorrow to see if I can replicate your problem but your logs will probably be the quickest way to find where the wallet wanders off looking for sputnik, or whatever it is doing for the additional time.

Also, as soon as the splash screen clears could you open the wallet debug window and in the console type getconnectioncount and press enter, that will tell us how many connections you have at successful start.

I don't know about the windows wallet taking a while to boot up, as it is set to boot with Windows but the android wallet took 7 days - that's right, an entire week (almost) - before it finally synced.
That's on a brand new ZTE Blade S6, no other apps installed.
It seems to sync fine for a while and then just freeze, had to be force stopped and then manually restarted.
It does work now, but it really isn't suitable for the "I-want-it-all-now" generation currently inhabiting crypto.
It also really isn't suitable as it stand for mass adoption either, too difficult and time-consuming for the man on the Clapham omnibus.

Perhaps an updated bootstrap for the Android wallet would help?

Sorry ASICrefugee, your post got overlooked there for a bit.

I've already booked a review & possible update for Android for that very reason. Will see if I can stir that particular possum this week.

It is on the books though.

Cheers from the land down-under.

Since you put it that way...  I'll figure it out.

Thanks.

So I guess you guys don't develop the code any further?  No activity in your Github.

There's not much purpose in development for development's sake so nothing will be pushed to GitHub unless changes are being made.

Just about all development work is taking place in the real world at the moment and that is keeping most of the team pretty busy (I'm the idle Aussie on the far side of the world Wink).

I shut down my PC, I got windows 7, 4gb of RAM, no other wallets running, no autostart.  But still a 3 minute splash screen...  Can something be done fixing this via patching the software?  I think there should be..  None technical people and patients will be using this, so it's important that the whole experience goes smooth as possible.

Took 62 secs here on my end...  pretty decent and quick for large blockchain.  Win7 16gb w/SSD with outlook, Skype, Kaspersky, and adobe reader running

What about for people who have crappy hardware and short on funds to buy new ones?  3 minute splash screens?  Won't that turn the majority off?

You got a list of core developers.  Can't they figure something out?

Edit:  And 62 seconds to boot up in your hardware is also not so good.

I haven't managed to replicate the problem yet but if people are truly so short of funds I'm sure they'll wait 3 minutes to access tokeweed.

Give windows a while to finish its security patches (I don't use it often) & then I'll try to get the problem replicated & fixed.

As they say, thank you for remaining patient, your call is important to us Wink

I don't mean the syncing.  When I start the wallet it takes a good 3 minutes before the wallet actually starts.

Wow, a full 3 minutes?? ....where's my pitch-fork and lynch mob?

Maybe it's the wallet of all the weed-coins, but I don't think CANN's wallet is any slower that the others I have.

Yeah a full 3 minutes.  That's nothing for you or you might be used to it, but it doesn't mean it shouldn't be fixed and improved upon.  There's a lot of improvements that can be made.  Another improvement that can be done is the website.  It needs a little polishing.

How could we even expect things to go forward if you take suggestions that way?

Take a breath everybody Smiley

tokeweed, you mean the splash screen comes up and just stays on the screen for about 3 minutes?

Yup. Why does it take that long?  There has to be a way to make it start faster..?

What the wallet is doing is rescanning the blockchain, or at least some portion of it. Suggests there's some problem with the way windows is handling its shutdown - the Mac build with which I am most familiar will only do so for a significant time if we've had a power failure, for example and the shutdown was not handled gracefully.

How long that takes is a function of how much work there is to do and the speed of available processing power.

Help me trace this, if we can:

Do you autostart your wallet at windows boot up?
Do you shutdown or sleep your computer?
What 'doze version are you using?
How much RAM does your machine have installed?
How many other wallets do you have installed/running?
Do you have many other programs running/autostarting?
Is your drive space close to full?
Is the drive light busy while the wallet is in splash-mode?

Some of these questions may not seem relevant but the answers may help me recreate the conditions on a test box.

Thanks
