Dev Update 7/25/2014

Website at www.keycoincrypto.com is still being finished up. Will be done soon, designers working hard!!

In the meantime a little treat. We added the anon sending function to the GUI so you don't have to go into the debug window to use it.

To enable the GUI option, go to Settings, then Options, then Display. Click "Show coin control features"

Now you have an Anonymous button and you choose the wallet address you want to send from.

You must have a wallet address with the label "anon" with available coins to use the GUI function.

Please remember to do this if you haven't:

IMPORTANT! Edit your keycoin.conf file:

Hold Windows key, press R to bring up the Run input box.

Type the following and then press ENTER: %appdata% select the keycoin folder

Create a new file named keycoin.conf

Paste the following lines into the conf file:

addnode=107.170.91.220
addnode=178.62.42.109
addnode=178.62.51.49
addnode=107.170.35.189

Don't want to release it halfway done.

105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin - X13 - Fair Launch - Bittrex/Cryptsy - 7/23 ANON RELEASE on: July 24, 2014, 05:12:30 AM
So let me get this straight. You copied XCs centralised non trustless mixer from Rev 1 and then you tell everyone you have better anon than XC, even though XC now is on Rev 2 which is a decentralised trustless mixer?

I hope you understand the flaws with Rev 1, otherwise someones gonna exploit your client and steal everyone's coins

No, not at all. We are close with members of various anon dev teams, and started with XC's released code as a base. The workings are more similar to DRK system.  We mentioned this to be respectful and follow the proper traditions of open source. The client part of XC is opensource but the server code isn't, therefore it's not something to be easily copied. The new server code that runs on the nodes is custom and has been proven secure, and the client side code is heavily modified also.

This is whats good about crypto and open source, start with the ideas and work of others, and build on it.

In the future, we may consider having every wallet function as a node. For now, we prefer the simplicity of having masternodes, so we can continue with the rest of our project.

106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin - X13 - Fair Launch - Bittrex/Cryptsy - 7/23 ANON RELEASE on: July 24, 2014, 01:00:20 AM
Security is KEY

We have completed our first feature add on in a long line of many forthcoming features. Our Anon system is live and working after extensive testing. Below we have written a quick guide on configuring it and using it to create transactions.

KEYcoin anonymous coin sending technology is accomplished with a masternode system that uses encrypted communication between nodes to avoid leaving trails in the blockchain.

The system is well tested, fully functional, and safe to use with your coins, however because this is an early release we have set a limit of a minimum of 2 to and maximum of 100 KEY that the anon sending limit will accept. We will raise this limit in the near future.

How to Send KEY Anonymously

Download the KEYcoin anonymous wallet:
https://mega.co.nz/#!Y1UQXRib!UtfX3fro6OAlpHgvbbzE2icagoB59B8QbU8wt2zoSko

IMPORTANT! Edit your keycoin.conf file:

Hold Windows key, press R to bring up the Run input box.

Type the following and then press ENTER: %appdata% select the keycoin folder

Create a new file named keycoin.conf

Paste the following lines into the conf file:

addnode=107.170.91.220
addnode=178.62.42.109
addnode=178.62.51.49
addnode=107.170.35.189
addnode=188.226.184.232
addnode=162.243.122.97
addnode=107.170.153.13
addnode=95.85.62.12
addnode=178.62.54.145
staking=0
enableaccounts=1

Save the file and close it.
Open your Keycoin-qt.exe and wait for it to sync. (This may take a while while everyone is trying
out the anon)

Click Help, Debug Window, then Console.

If your wallet is password protected you need to unlock it first. (Unlock Wallet in main window)

20 is number the minutes to unlock the wallet for.

To send coins anonymously you will type:

sendanoncoins label dest-address amount 1

So for example, if you want to send 15 coins anonymously  to your friend, it would look something like this:

sendanoncoins mylabel KBwnwpv5GCPkyUyAtukR9N3njuehQnXAkz 15 1

mylabel is the label of one of your own wallet addresses that has coins in it.

The “1” at the end is a flag and needs to be there.

We will be adding a function to the QT wallet to make this easier. One thing at a time.

107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin - X13 - Fair Launch - Bittrex/Cryptsy - JULY 23 ANON TODAY on: July 23, 2014, 10:28:38 PM
Keycoin devs here.

News coming today. Writing release info and a user guide now.

Anon is done, functional, using a masternode system that uses encrypted communication between nodes to avoid leaving trails in the blockchain.

108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin - X13 - Fair Launch - Bittrex/Cryptsy - POS - Anon Testing on: July 22, 2014, 05:20:39 PM
Dev update. July 22, 2014 2 PM EST

Mac wallet is released.
https://mega.co.nz/#!cAJhhQaI!SQuZXkcJ2a2uc5jYQanZ3ZQue5p_y35aA-EQsgPq18Q

Website timer has been pushed back. Our web developer is a pro who does websites for his dayjob. The switch from html5 only to a full CMS has taken some extra time. We want to release an impressive and full site, not something partial.

Anonymous sending is working fully in the command line daemon, nodes are being set up and funded by prometheus. There are 1 or 2 bugs being worked out in the QT wallet interface to the dameon right now.

We are using a modified more powerful and untraceable version of the original XC anon mixer and implementing it in KEY.

Essentially this original XC mixer uses nodes to transfer money from user-node-node-node leaving a trail.
Our anon goes user-node (message to other random nodes for transaction)- node - receiver, and doesnt leave an address paper trail. Instead it just looks like the nodes are sending money all over the place with no rhyme or reason.

The key to the anonymity is the fact that the nodes message each other to process randomized and mixed transactions, you can’t follow any 1 address to the receiver because the nodes talk to eachother and create a gap..

Where other coins mix the transactions by just creating multiple transfers.. ours doesn’t it skips over to another node via encrypted message and requests that node to send money to a specific address that was communicated to it, so you can really never figure out who sent who what

Our longer term project, the KEY usb project live anon linux distro, is being tested. We may release beta versions of the ISO for users to run in a virtual machine and help test. Longer term (few weeks to a month) goal is to have KEY branded USB sticks and sell them on the website for KEY coins.

Thanks for the support and sorry to those who were harmed by the FUD attacks yesterday. We are undeterred and pushing forward stronger than ever.

Dev Update

We're trying to have lots of info, including tutorials, FAQ, blog, its taking some extra time because the developer decided its best to move to a CMS to manage all that.

Heres one of the updated logo graphics, not 100% decided yet:

 Here is one of the graphics from the site, part of the explanation of anon.

More coming, just want to show ongoing work.

Opinions on logo style?

110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [KEY] KeyCoin - X13 - Fair Launch - Bittrex/Cryptsy - POS - 7/21 Updates on: July 22, 2014, 01:21:52 PM
The developers are waiting for this to pass and continuing on with all the planned work.

I personally have not sold 1 coin through this.

That's because you didn't expect it to crash like this Smiley Otherwise you would have sold high and bought back low. Basically, yes, you should have sold.

True, but if I didn't have faith in this project I would dump everything and invest in something else.

Work is continuing on KEY - I like the ideas and dev team and will make progress.

So when is anon scheduled for release?

The target date is Wednesday. The main anon developer is offline right now because its early in the US. I'll try and get more info. There is a small issue related to passing a variable from the QT wallet to the RPC keycoin interface telling the RPC to send it as anon transaction, its being debugged and worked on.

...Dev update.

Today was a difficult day, as you can see in the thread.

The investors and devs are still confident in  the project and will be making progress.

Work was temporarily paused today as we try to figure out the source of all these problems.

The website is still underway. Projects are still underway. Anon is in testing, today we are ironing out a bug related to an RPC call from the QT.

More updates will follow.

"Work was paused today"

"We were ironing out bugs today"

Yeah, it was a long day. Bugs were being worked on in the AM, I also posted another update even earlier today if you see the first page of ANN. Work was paused when all the fud hit.

Quoting yourself constantly is unlikely to change anything any time soon. Why don't you try petitioning maxpower to compile an OS X wallet?

I'd petition instacash whom I know well.

But that's not the point. I wanted to see how keycoin and/or the other devs responded to this most basic of requests - A wallet for OS X

I cannot say Im impressed by 0 response

There is no mac os x wallet yet.

So basically this coin aims to provide anonymity to the users that transact but not the transactions themselves, which is what users really want. (splitting them up in multiple transactions doesn't hide the trail, it just makes it harder to follow, and costs more in transaction fees, leading to an non-viable long term coin)

If I wanted to hide my IP address I could do this on my own, it solves nothing, and therefore provides me nothing. I'm glad I took this for face value.

Transactions will be anonymous and unable to be followed through the blockchain. We will be having a paid challenge to confirm this, and you're welcome to join it.

I see you created this account to post in this thread and attack the project. Wouldn't it be more productive to find a coin you support and work with them instead of wasting your energy with negativity?

Best of luck.

It shouldnt take so long to launch a simple website. Whats going to be special about it? How many people are really working on this? Is TOR really a great solution for anonymity? I am a little skeptical. Perhaps if the DEV or DEVs answer my questions that would be great!

Thanks

There is already a simple website up at www.keycoincrypto.com

I do web design/development for my regular day job, and spend anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months on each project. That's an eternity in the crypto world, so I'm trying to hurry this up. We want the website to contain all the info users will need, and answer most of the common questions.

Tor is a good solution for anonymity especially if youre connecting from public wifi, and coins can be sent through an anonymous mixer. A future goal is also i2p network support, a Tor alternative.

Our C++ coder is working on the anonymity solution, all the bugs have been ironed out and we're in testing. He explained its workings in laymans terms today, and our designer is working on infographics and content written to explain it.

I will be busy working and try to answer any other questions some hours from now.
