101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Labs Gets A Boost on: February 23, 2015, 10:20:33 PM
Ripple Labs Gets A Boost As An Ex-Fed Joins The Team

Will Ripple get the boost that they need with the acquisition of Norman Reed?
Will this help bitcoin in a way?

I feel that the people surrounding Ripple Labs like this guy will lobby for regulation of the ripple network.  This transparency to what is right and wrong to the small and large banks will make it safer/easier/faster to acquire/hold/spend BTC through new apps like gatehub or other gateways.

I believe this will bring more liquidity to BTC but I have no idea about the future price of BTC. Id be fine with it being stable at $250 for the next few years.

Stellar is the future of cryptocurrencies. The fact that people don't notice yet is quite amazing.

What are the reasons that make it the future of cryptocurrencies?

Is the future of cryptocurrencies a protocol that runs on one node? If so, we all failed.

They'll centralize it.. just look at ripple.

That is why banks are becoming nice to ripple over BTC because ripple is centralized ... say hi to the new boss , same as the old boss.

Ripple is never going to achieve relevancy. Debt-based systems have a storied history of going up in flames because the defaults amplify each other making them inherently unstable. Free markets have built in shock absorbers.

I agree but this world is a debt based system...

More debt is coming.

The world is presently enduring a debt-based system, like a pestilence. The system is unstable and it will end either by fire (hyperinflation) or ice (bank run). There is no other option. I'm betting on fire because those central bankster monkeys have one and only one weapon: [control]P.

I agree once again on this thread that hyperinflation will be the only way out.

However, the "smart money" that caused this future hyperinflation will have their money somewhere else well before and make money during the meltdown while people starve.

107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ripple Labs joins the Center for Financial Services Innovation Network (CFSI) ne on: February 11, 2015, 03:44:27 AM
Ripple Labs new blog: https://ripple.com/b...k-cfsi-network/

Ripple Labs joins the Center for Financial Services Innovation Network (CFSI) network February 10, 2015 | By Chloe Hunt

Ripple Labs is the newest member of the Center for Financial Services Innovation Network (CFSI), an organization dedicated to improving financial health with an emphasis on reaching the underserved.

“We have long admired CFSI’s work connecting innovative financial institutions and emerging technologies to improve the financial lives of individuals,” said Ripple Labs CEO Chris Larsen. “Ripple is a transformative technology creating a more open and competitive financial system, and we are excited to work with CFSI in leveraging that for a greater good.”
•See also: TechCrunch (Stefan Thomas): The Internet’s Missing Link

Operating as a network of like-minded financial institutions and innovators, CFSI has become the premier organization for strengthening America’s’ financial health since its inception ten years ago. Just a sampling of the organization’s achievements:
•Conducted the nation’s first study on the un- and “underbanked”
•Identified and seeded innovations in transactions, savings, and credit
•Developed the Compass Principles, a framework to guide the design and delivery of high-quality financial services
•Invested over $30 million in promising fintech innovations that improve the financial lives of everyday Americans

It should be no surprise then that Ripple Labs is thrilled to join an organization possessing not only a remarkable track record but also a set of core values that match our own.

So how will you spin this off and tell yourself that this is bad or they are still selfish and will always be a scam?
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth to buy altcoins? on: February 01, 2015, 07:52:37 PM
^ I have made quite a hefty profit off stellar, but you would need to buy at the right time. I wouldn't look at Doge at the moment, will crash(again). Litecoin is decent.
Basically just look at stellar, not Ripple, that's pretty much controlled by it's devs.

This is the kinda advice that's going to make XRP explode when everyone tries to get in at the same time one day.

You guys are on point. He's cooking GatesCoin as we speak.

Yea I agree, just to clarify, NOT that new GATECOIN that just came out, GATESCOIN
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Stellar on: February 01, 2015, 02:51:04 AM
BTC giveaway update?

Yea seriously this has to be coming up this week right?  6 months after Stellar was opened up to the public right?

> I feel like this is Jed's first failure...but since I'm always wrong....Stellar will be the future of payments.
111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates and Bitcoin on: January 31, 2015, 02:55:36 PM
So how is he going to provide stability for his altcoin? Give it a fake value? Never put it on an exchange?

He can simply make an IOU on the ripple network and try to control the volatility himself by pegging it to something more stable.   Or he might not even need to control it if he makes it ugly to bitcoiners.  For example, there's no mining, its distributed, and no hard cap on the amount of coins which his organization holds all of it at first.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your favorite altcoin reached $500 on: January 31, 2015, 12:27:27 AM
You wake up tomorrow morning and you find out your favorite coin has reached $500/coin. What would you do?  Huh

HODL!
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: whats the best alt coin to invest in 2015 on: January 30, 2015, 04:32:34 PM
in my opinion its Stellar(str)
i think it will one of the best investment in crypto market

May I ask why?

Probably because he's bagholding it and needs to pimp it out  Cheesy. The trouble with these type of threads is everyone just pushes the coin they have most of (and this is probably true for me also, but I do see bitcoin being far the best investment regardless).

+1

Yea, I don't even think Jed would say buy his stellars right now.

Here we have a brief overview of what Bill Gates believes in regards to you guessed it, Bitcoin.

http://gyazo.com/976f1e94844e3013303951b1e914ae13

What digital currency is he using if he's not using bitcoin?

well ... Bill gates got a point on his point of view here , but I don't think he is using any other Cryptoo/Digital Currencies since basically all of them have a value that goes up and down and he is against that ... if I should choose I would say maybe Stellar ?
But he is totally right, poor people can't afford such a thing as Bitcoin since it's UP and sometimes Down ...

~ Madness

I don't see why anyone would pick stellar...?
115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates and Bitcoin on: January 30, 2015, 12:50:43 AM
Bill Gates has mentioned Ripple before, and he's full of shit.

Poor people can benefit from Bitcoin just as much as anyone.

As for reversible transactions, that is what gives other people power to control our money.  If you give a bank, or Paypal, or anyone else the ability to reverse transactions, then they become a court that decides who is right and who is wrong in a dispute between private parties.

You're right, but ripple doesn't give anyone that ability.  Now, gateways that "want to" and "declare it" can freeze their IOU's that you have.  But NO ONE can do anything about your XRP's...
116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates and Bitcoin on: January 30, 2015, 12:47:41 AM
Maybe he'll create a new crypto Tongue lol

Yea, if he had the drive that he had in the 80's and 90's he would be knocking competitor altcoins to 0 right now lol
117  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates and Bitcoin on: January 30, 2015, 12:42:29 AM
It'll have be a digital currency pegged to a state currency. I can't see how they'd get acceptable levels of volatility otherwise.

If that is the case then it might not address a few root problems but solves enough for the average poor person. They'll just want wider access to trade and money.

Well that's the thing...ripple has essentially made all coins in the world digital with their IOU process.  So he could transfer USD or whatever to his India Gates Foundation Center, then they can convert to whatever currency they want, all costing like 0.03 XRP, so fractions of a cent in the matter of seconds.

But getting it off the ripple network will cost more.
118  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates and Bitcoin on: January 30, 2015, 12:37:16 AM
Ripple??

I think its possible he may be referring to ripple.

Ok, I heard other people say this as well.  However, per Ripple Charts, I just don't see any movement in new money coming in besides JPY.
So he is putting a few hundred dollars on the ripple network or what?

He is worth like $80 billion and the Gates Foundation is worth like $30 billion. And has already donated like $30 billion.  Plus he is very serious about Africa and India, I don't see any gateways currently running for him to transfer value from the U.S. to these countries as of now.
