I was considering one of these: http://www.hardkernel.com/renewal_2011/products/prdt_info.phpMore expensive, but there are more USB root hubs. Better for the multi device miner. Also, bear in mind that the Raspberry Pi doesn't have an Ubuntu build right now, I believe there is a Fedora offering though. Nothing against Fedora, I quite like it, but do remember that you'll need to install more libraries and suchlike to get up and running using Bitcoin-d with Fedora (with the inevitable teeth gnashing and howling at the moon when you struggle to get it to work, I've been there!) Why not just use debian? :S

This is just a waste of bitcoins.. Most of them will get thrown away and wasted by people that don't understand what to do with them or think it's a scam etc. I think the best method of promotion would be promotion via media, like the video at www.weusecoins.com and www.screwbanks.net

It should work fine. Cgminer/BFGMiner/MPBM all work fine on my RaspberryPi with my Cairnsmore1 boards, so your x6500 boards should work fine after you get everything set up ( there's some guides on the forums depending on what mining software you want to use ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) )

LETS TALK ABOUT IF BITCOIN MINING IS REALLY WORTH THE COST OF ALL THE COMPONENTS AND HARDWARE Tip me for my hard work
Oh man that's funny. No, it's not worth it. Please go home.

Great to see withdrawals being processed again! Hopefully things are getting back on track now ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Elden,
Is it possible to run the tricone mining host software on a Raspberry Pi?

I see people talking about getting deposits in finally, are things working again? I don't see anybody saying to get money out though ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) if nobody has got any withdrawals yet that just makes it more suspicious, a convenient bank error, but it's not like they are anonymous, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt, as it might be difficult to deal with banks at this stage of bitcoin's life, but if bitcoin gets mainstream at all, they might be considered trailblazers ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) that had to wade through this crap in the "early days" My withdrawal #32880 hit my account today for clearing on Monday. I'm inclined to side with your latter comment rather than your former - my assessment is that Intersango are basically good guys who've bitten off a little more than they can chew at the moment - they just need to employ a few more staff, sweet-talk a few metrobank execs while offering them VIP tickets to the Bitcoin conference and work really hard on giving their clients adequate information when they get FUBAR'd again in the future. That's nice. I'm looking for more confirmations of withdrawals.

Bitcoin prices rise...
Not sure what the problem is, I would love to know why.
No problems here, chief!

funny, I got it hashing on my Raspberry Pi by connecting it through a cheap unpowered usb-hub instead of connecting it directly to the Raspberry...
Yeah the Cairnsmore1 boards don't work when you plug them directly into the RPi, but they do through certain powered hubs.

You need to do a modprobe. Plug them in then issue this command: modprobe ftdi_sio vendor=0x0403 product=0x8350 FYI, this is not required if you added the udev rules posted by yohan at the CM1 support pages. I've done this and it doesn't work for me, so I have to use modprobe manually

Got my funds through after waiting 2 weeks but at least it came through eventually, shame about the exchange rate on Coins though!
Hopefully withdrawals are working ok.....
I assume you mean deposit came through okay, rather than withdrawal?

Have you got the latest ftdi drivers?
I suppose I do, I installed libftdi1 and installed the D2XX FTDI ARM drivers (not sure if these last ones are needed, but I installed them anyway) dmesg show "ftdi_sio: v1.6.0:USB FTDI Serial Converters Driver" yet, I don't get any /dev/ttyUSBx devices either (only /dev/usbdev1.1, /dev/usbdev1.2 and /dev/usbdev1.3) I'll fiddle a little further... I don't get them showing up either. You need to do a modprobe. Plug them in then issue this command: modprobe ftdi_sio vendor=0x0403 product=0x8350 Then you should see the ttyUSB0/1/2/3 etc. for your Cairnsmore1's ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Hope this helps!

I'm trying to get my Cairnsmore1 run on a Raspberry Pi (cgminer), but I'm getting these type of errors:
[2012-08-05 09:38:57] Icarus Detect: Test failed at /dev/usbdev1.2: get 12010002, should: 000187a2
I then tried on a Linux machine, and I get the same type:
[2012-08-05 10:17:12] Icarus Detect: Test failed at /dev/ttyUSB0: get 00000000, should: 000187a2
on Windows it mines without problems. Anyone an idea on how to fix this?
Have you got the latest ftdi drivers?

my early board SN#0015 is not working at all Are you sure this board isn't broken? I can run 150 Mhz just fine on my S/N 26 board. Where are the other pre-S/N-50 board users? I would love to hear some more experiences so maybe we can get a better image on how "bad" pre-50 "really" are... Mine are being replaced as we speak. Couldn't run twin_test on them..

- So now he has to use spellpower to get to work. Bottom line, things will be delayed
3 months 4-6 weeks* or so.
Fixed that for you... Also, very entertaining story =D

Nice. Bitcoin withdrawals and GBP deposits seem to be processing now, albeit slowly.
What about GBP withdrawals? Anyone reporting success with those yet?

Thanks for sharing this! Been looking at archival DVDs for a while

Regardless weather it comes in October/November/December/January there is still nothing that can compete with it, and once it's out all the GPU and FPGA miners will be gone.
Assuming their specifications are accurate (which I doubt they will be - remember the original BFL single?) and they all units on time (again, I seriously doubt it - see my above comment about this), GPU and FPGA will probably still be around for a while, especially those with free electricity. Maybe you are forgetting this.
|
|
|
Are they still ever going to hit October?
No... Take a look at their track record having delivered not even one single unit on time.
