May is around the corner so I don't think the release date is a problem. Four months will fly by and we'll finally have a fix. However, I do agree with you on the fact that this took SO FUCKING LONG TO FIX! what the hell is wrong with these developer guys is all I can think. Here we have this great new technology that everyone in the world wants in on and the primary currency in this whole new revolution has been broken for way too long. WTF is all I can say and just shake my head, turn around and walk away. un fucking believable. is this coin Defunct? been searching all over internet for some new news but i have found none.

Then why do you think Satoshi created Bitcoin? Just for fun? Did he do any marketing? Did he contact BTC/USD exchanges? None of that, it was not his job. He created a ground-breaking technology that was open for everyone to use. If it is useful, then it will be used - simple as that. The community is what drives adoption. We are the community. So what?  Let's start doing it! in an ideal world yes. The current world however is very different then the one where Satoshi developed bitcoin. First of all he had no competition and the initial bitcoin users were either developers or very tech savy people. It took him 7 years to get recognition from the general population. Today we are in a world of get rich craze where everybody starting with the shoeshine boys are investing in crypto. These people don't understand much and have 1000 coins to chose from and they will chose those whose marketing screams louder. There is a very real risk of falling into obscurity even with the best tech. XSPEC might die and another coin may simply take over the code base and re-use the excellent ideas of this team.  //:c BTC |

We're considering making a revision in the 7.x version of the wallet to only allow staking of at least 1 full coin to cut down on the "DUST" that is entering the chain.
This could also apply to sends.

It's very interesting to see that this coin is still alive after all this time. Think I still have coins in an old wallet. Will probably have to get the newest version and see what the state of things is. Is there any sort of rough roadmap of the future for any new features etc. Not gimmick stuff, just improved tech features.
I wish there was, but unfortunately there are no Developers & or anyone available in the community to update any features. Anything could change @ any time though, one thing that has been seen in many altcoins (community or developer take overs) & or could just drift into a defunct state of the altcoins over the years. Fire Coin (FIRE) has been with only a few nodes for months & without a block explorer as well, but 100's of alts have good functional chains in the same status. Will just have to watch, wait & see Well that's not encouraging. I will say though that IMO POS coins often go this route as they tend to result in people hording their coins for staking and with nothing new coming in via mining, interest slowly evaporates. I went back and even many of the really high % PoS coins are pretty much dead as well. I personally like the idea of a PoW/PoS coin like Peer but that's just me. So it's based on Bitcoin->SifCoin->Quark->Dark->BitBlock->Fire What would you think should be done with it? It would be badly in need of some core updates I would think but once you start on that you have to begin asking if it wouldn't be less work to fork some "new" updated coin and then work from that. Course that opens up a whole can of worms with having to do swaps and stuff. The real question though would be what is it's "purpose". The coin itself is almost immaterial unless it has a real purpose and of course a plan for it's adoption. I would like to see it get updates also, many developers out there just copy & make new coins for a quick profit. Would be nice to see a developer that could help FIRE get the chance to have a real purpose, being the name Fire Coin (FIRE) made me think of many possibilities & good purposes of the name Fire Coin (fire fighter use & charity news was my first thoughts). Am only a BBcoder tho, don't have any wallet coding ability & have been trying to learn to read it over the years a bit. A developer would cost BTC & there wasn't a premine or ICO to keep building upon, don't really see a developer just offering to help for nothing (only the name maybe)? Not trying to be less encouraging, but have just put a lot of time & some BTC already into Fire Coin. Even tom14cat14 + many others have tried a few routes to build Fire Coin, just tough with all the new coins & no funds to build it into a name worthy Fire Coin. It should just compile on Linux out of the box -- there are a bunch of dependencies that have to be there depending on if you want UPNP enabled or not. Do you have the Qt 'qmake' utility ? I THINK we have a static linux binary (command line) I could post on the 2Give.Info if you want? Our global seed nodes are Linux so I know it works ;-) TBH we are getting more requests for a Linux GUI version and it should be trivial to build -- we just haven't made it a priority. I'll check with the other devs and see if we can bump it up in the backlog... -dvd Command line would fine LD. Just trying to help as much as I can. I have an old Dell poweredge 2600 may just put windows server on it so I don't have to build idk yet. Are you asking to build the QT version or the command line version (or both?) :-) -dvd
Hey LD can you message me with instructions on how to build it on Linux. Have an old server PC laying around and I will use it to add more seed nodes for you just not very experienced with Linux. Use to the ./autogen ./configure make routine but that doesn't work.

As one who builds computers from scratch, if 2Give could get a simple .DEB build or built & make IT much easier to not have to build from source (trying to teach all to learn to build from source is not always an option) Tried to build Linux way back in 2010, unable to because of the learning curve for the end users & now Linux Foundation be very simple for even the newbies world of educated users BTC |
