101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NEver keep all your coins on an exchange on: August 29, 2016, 11:10:09 PM
Some have made a good point. How I am supposed to hold coins that don't even have wallets yet and im holding long term like maid or agoras? Is Omniwallet safe?
102  Other / Off-topic / Re: How kids can "earn" Bitcoin ? on: August 28, 2016, 06:27:29 PM
I can see kids making bitcoins in the future through youtube video and social media. Some kids now have huge followings and make money with ad revenue.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can BTC become as fungible as XMR? on: August 28, 2016, 04:35:53 PM
Do you think XMR fungibility can make BTC lose marketcap due XMR gaining a lot of what is in dark market action?
Didn't XMR had problems to scale that couldn't be solved?
What happens if XMR reaches higher transaction volume at BTC's level, isn't this a big problem for XMR?
And finally... can BTC eventually render all those anonymous niche coins irrelevant thanks to increased privacy like CT and mimble wimble stuff?

I was considering entering in the XMR market since im not sure if BTC will be able to become anonymous enough, but at the same time, im not sure if it will be viable for XMR to function with actual usage since it seems their blockchain has serious speed and bloat issues, then at that point it will not be a competitor against BTC with the improvements in privacy which should be enough for the people that use dark markets...

I would like gmaxwell's opinion since he is the expert on this and was also holding some XMR I think.

I just don't know if this is all hype fueled by news without any technical fundamentals into it. Maybe XMR has developed a solution to scale that I have missed?
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: NEver keep all your coins on an exchange on: August 28, 2016, 04:21:09 PM
If I buy altcoins that don't even have wallets like agoras or maidsafe, how im supposed to not keep them at the exchange if its the only way to hold them?

Also I need some btc in exchange for quick movements, i cant wait for transactions.
105  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHAT CAN I DO WITH 0.1 BTC ?? on: August 28, 2016, 04:17:37 PM
But the thing is, he will most likely lose it all in trading if he is new. If you still want to gamble, then put it in a low volume coin and hope for the best.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Any ICOs you are holding? on: August 27, 2016, 04:23:25 PM
ICOs are a way to get rich..

...maybe if you're the one hosting the ICO but otherwise it's just gambling.

Well said. most of the ICOs will only makes the investors lose money. maybe except some large scale projects like Ethereum.

Well, there are opportunities sometimes, look at NXT, NEM, Synereo... all those ICOs delivered 100 to 1000% gains.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you invest in Rimbit? on: August 27, 2016, 04:14:00 PM
Rimbit has done something meaningful.
They've built a functional social media platform and have a community.

Is that worth $1M?  Maybe.  Steemit got evaluated to $330M.

The premine is always reason for a redflag.  But it has not been dumped in 2 years, so the custodian has demonstrated good faith.

In general bitcointalk has a strong disdain for the premines, but this is pure hypocrisy when you look at all the ICO hype ... ETH much?, got XRP?, waves, lsk, NXT, etc.   Nevermind garbage like Swiscoin.

I still urge caution but Rimbit is not a bad product in my opinion if it can continue to build and improve it's social media platform.

Holders of a coin that ends up being successful will stop caring about premines. I saw people saying premines are shit, but they lucked out with ETH and suddenly Vitalik is cool.
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC moving back to ETC? on: August 27, 2016, 04:09:10 PM
but where would be the bottom ? difficult to tell. Maybe its already in, maybe not...

This is the question every investor is making now. We may be in front of the next big opportunity to make some great gains, but we can't know where the bottom is.

About the hacker, like I said before, I think we will not see the hacker dumping, he is not stupid.
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Any ICOs you are holding? on: August 27, 2016, 03:59:50 PM
ICOs are a way to get rich.. if you are holding enough of the right coin, you may find yourself with huge gains. Of course, how many ICOs end up making you more money than you invested? Probably not many.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / BTC moving back to ETC? on: August 27, 2016, 03:53:37 PM
We say a BTC dip when the ETC pump was ongoing. ETC seems to have bottomed and it has been rising since a couple of days ago. Considering the hacker is not dumb and will not dump to get caught by authorities, he will help to pump it too.

I have this feel about a huge ETC pump coming again.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereium Classic is a reminder of why Bitcoin must never hard fork on: August 27, 2016, 03:38:47 PM
I hope ETC forks to become PoW only and ETH forks to become PoS so ETC has a bigger reason to exist, differentiation is key and PoW+immutable is great.
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: ETC Hashrate climbing steadily on: August 27, 2016, 03:31:20 PM
Will go up again, it bottomed at near 0.0020, now we are at 0.0025, it will keep climbing at this rate, its looking healthy.
113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Doubling Bitcoin? on: August 27, 2016, 03:18:02 PM
ETC is looking good to get in all now, at 25, we can go to 50 during the next pump, and there goes your doubled Btc.
114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We need an incentive to make first world population use Bitcoin on: August 26, 2016, 09:01:18 PM
the main objection people have against bitcoin is simple
"what can i do with bitcoin once i have it"

so the obvious solution is to make bitcoin spendable. eg if you can buy toilet paper, car gasoline and baked beans. (travel, food, toiletries) then everyone will see bitcoin is not just speculative but actually real and useful.

yes i know people say that bitcoin should be a reserve currency and other currencies should be the daily spend currencies. but those people do not care about bitcoin and only want buyers to buy and hold so that sellers can sell at a profit back into fiat.
greed and narrowmindedness of just wanting a fiat increase could make bitcoin useless and eventually cave in on itself.(pump&dump coin)

by making it useful by expanding capacity and keeping the fee's low and having lots of merchant acceptance. would increase bitcoins popularity and gain more users which (side-effect: will increase the greedy fiat price).. will actually make bitcoin stronger and not cave in on itself.

in short
dont lazily advertise bitcoin as a speculaive reserve currency, purely for a price pump. actually realise bitcoin needs to grow and expand to gain real world popularity and usefulness. then everyone can be happy and bitcoin can be stronger.
dont fall for the sidechain for daily spend strategy. it wont help bitcoin

It's impossible to reach the volume of transactions per second that it would be needed in order to reach mainstream usage of people buying on the street everywhere with bitcoin on-chain, it will be with lightning network or it will not be and Bitcoin will remain as digital gold, simple as that.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why isn't there an Altcoin capable of overtaking Bitcoin ? on: August 26, 2016, 08:58:20 PM
Very simple question with a very single answer:

1) Bitcoin is the longest surviving chain, this makes investors feel safer
2) Bitcoin has the best developers
3) Bitcoin has the strongest network

That's all.
116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People hate Bitcoins? on: August 26, 2016, 08:50:22 PM
The only people that hate Bitcoins do it because they have a certain agenda and this agenda is damaged or threatened by the invention of Bitcoin.
117  Economy / Economics / Re: Soo, I'm planning on buying €1000 in bitcoins. Yes or no? on: August 26, 2016, 06:31:34 PM
If you intend to hold long term (as you should) then by all means buy right now and forget it. Trying to wait for a perfect price to enter the market will only stress you. In the long term, it does no matter if you get in at 500 or 1000, because it will be much higher.
118  Economy / Speculation / Re: Predict the price: Halving day 2020 on: August 26, 2016, 06:28:23 PM

I think it will reach 100 000 usd within 24 months from now. It is still relatively cheap and therefore you might want to consider to buy a few more since the inflation is not that bad anymore.

hot damn. you're thinking big. i think that's way too much of an ask in that amount of time. it would be about one fifth of gold's market cap. millions and millions of people would need to suddenly decide they wanted bitcoin in their life. an attitude change that radical don't happen that fast.

It takes like 1% of gold moving to Bitcoin to push the price to 100k per coin... it is realistic. So add in stocks, debts, bonds, all go into Bitcoin and you have 500,000 per coin.
119  Economy / Speculation / At what price we would be at if Btifinex disaster didn't happen? on: August 26, 2016, 06:25:49 PM
I often think about this nowadays. We were on a spectacular uptrend. Core team was about to launch 0.13 and the halving happened, we were on the good track, but Bitfinex happened, ruining the good uptrend with the stupid ass dump. Fortunately we recovered quick, but the uptrend is not as strong and will take some more time now to go 1000+ again.
120  Economy / Speculation / Re: We'll be at 10,000+ by 2026 on: August 26, 2016, 05:57:34 PM
I do think that it is possible for the price to be $10,000 in 2026 it may be even higher then that we just have to wait and see what will happen.
With Bitcoin you will never know what is going to happen in the future.
Well, I think it's possible. That's crypto. But of course there will be a high resistance against the increase of the price and significant selling pressure before that happens.

It is possible like many things in crypto that were impossible become possible. However, the question is, is it realistic? My stand on that is that is not realistic. Not by a long shot anyway.
Holding my coins is for a realistic increase of 10% per year.

When the bitcoin infrastructure is built and the transactions becomes real time like the visa/master, the price will rise.

We don't need that, we just need the big gold and stocks moguls to start moving small % of their portfolio into Bitcoin to push the price to 6 figures. The last people to enter the market will be the average joes.
