I own some bitcoins and feel safe. I own more litecoins (valued in usd) and feel lucky. I own 20 feathercoins and feel dirty. There is a limit to my greed and I can not go deeper then that, some dirt dont wash off.
103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Altcoin Proposal] Expresscoin [EXC] on: May 06, 2013, 09:09:49 AM
I am curious, since you have thought a great deal about this (at least I imagine that you have) then if you were an attacker - how would you go about destroying the coin. I am not teasing you here, I honestly just want too learn more and when it comes to coins I am very interested in learning about the weak links. If I know what the system "hinges on" I might get a better understanding of it. So, how would you attack it? Setting up a computer that doubles spends a lot?
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: inflation coins on: May 06, 2013, 08:36:15 AM
Then you should remove LTC from your signature. It's opensource, freedom as is.

I see your point. Do you see mine?

106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / inflation coins on: May 05, 2013, 01:34:29 PM
I think it would be awesome if someone created a script that fork bitcoin/litecoin, make random changes to code, random coin name, uploads to github, website, pool, etc. At least 3 coins a week. That way perhaps we could polute the crypto coin space to the degree that it becomes impossible to keep up with new coins. The goal is to inflate the number of coins in absurdum.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Altcoin Proposal] Expresscoin [EXC] on: May 05, 2013, 01:24:16 PM
U asked for critique so here it is: the coins makes no sense what so ever. Whats the point of low confirmation if block can be invalidates later? There is so much more that is so wrong. Please study definition of money before deciding on protocol. I like the name though.

109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: That's it, I've lost hope in the future of crypto currencies... on: May 03, 2013, 08:44:19 PM
I welcome all new copycoins that will pull hashing away from the Litecoin network, so that I can get more Litecoins.

Indeed, I cant help feeling the same way. I am not afraid that these new alts will destroy any confidence in cryptos att all. Just check the wiki and look for dead coins. There is plenty of them and more to come.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BREAKING: Feathercoin just hit BTC-e on: May 03, 2013, 07:03:05 AM
Well put  Smiley. Most software is developed and released in increments and I guess Litecoin could be seen as a new version of Bitcoin.

I guess that it would be a good idea for someone new to the crypto currencie space to have a look at this list https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/List_of_alternative_cryptocurrencies#dead_.2F_dying. The only thing I am saying here is that we have seen many coins come and I think there will be so many more to come. The risk reward ratio for creating a new coin is so good, that people can not seem to help themselves mining or buying into them.

Then again, some of the new coins do introduce new features that makes them better qualified in the minds of people. Perhaps these alts could be thought of as mutating bacteria. There are a lot of them and as the number of dead coins pile up, perhaps new coin creators will be forced to really think outside of the box and perhaps by shear coincidence some of this new features will actually make some of them survive a little longer (because people have more belief in them). Eventually new coins emerges and perhaps one day even Bitcoin itself will be challenged.

One thing that is still an unknown is what will happen when new bitcoins can not be minted by miners. Nobody knows for sure what will happen then. So in my opinion bitcoin is much of an alt as anything else, in the sense that we can not possibly know if bitcoins are the greatest "pump n dump" of them all so to speak.

I am not so afraid of alt coins and whether or not they will damage the reputation of Bitcoin or not. Most people have never heard of Bitcoin and even less so ChickenCoin. However, I would encourage everyone who creates new alt coins to add something of value to their new coins - I mean think how amazingly rich you would become if you created a new coin that replaced Bitcoin. Wouldnt that be something?

This is actually making me look at LTC in a bad light too, for the first time ever. It's kind of altered my opinion of it.

If it's this easy for some week old coin to be instantly accepted at the major ALT coin exchanges...

I now see why old Bitcoiners think all ALT coins are pump and dumps... even Litecoin.

Because they are..

Maybe I will rethink using anything but Bitcoin if this is what the ALT community is all about.
I'm an old Bitcoiner, not all of us think all ALT coins are pump and dumps. Litecoin has changes, PPC is totally different and I'm really looking forward to proof of folding (if it can be accomplished). Alts are a great test environment for new ideas that you can't just put in Bitcoin to see if it is something. If it can bring something extra to the cryptocurrencie world it will survive and will have a slow but steady growth, just like BTC had. LTC follows the same path as BTC, never was ltc after a few days worth this amount of money, never was it spammed everywhere and I don't think many people thought it would get this value. There aren't many big wallets around, there are more big btc than ltc wallets.

So I really don't know how your feeling for Litecoin can change because of Feathercoin, but I got to say, in the beginning I thought Feathercoin was pretty funny and saw it like bytecoin, as a funny jokecoin. Now that it's starts to look like a well put up scam, with a lot of new users burning real money, it starts to taste a little bit bitter. People who want to throw 46BTC at it while they have almost no experience with cryptocurrencies make me shiver too. And I still suspect a lot of accounts are made to praise ftc too, less than one month old and only posting praises about ftc and making one topic after another makes me suspicious. This never happened with LTC, else I wouldn't be posting this because Litecoin would be death. Wink

Warning.  Shocked

"For safety reason, we are developing auto payment, please be patient."

I am requesting a payout manually and I get that message. What site owner should do is to clearly state that you can not withdraw any coins from the site. That way you do not have to mine there until payments are possible. Either this is a scam or it is run by someone that is not up to the task.  Roll Eyes

I was thinking of how great it would be with site just as yours yesterday and just found yours. An API and everything. This is totally awesome! You rock!  Cool

Lol yes probably its because of the pronunciation.

I live in Sweden. I agee, Bitcoin is not a threat to our economy. The super high household debt, the extremely bad debt to deposit bank ratio and our dependency on export and low inernational interest rate on loans with short maturity is a much greater threat. Personally I find that Sweden is totally missing out on Bitcoin. There is no talk about it, not even at my work place ( I work at a major cell phone company and all my friends work with IT).

Surprising since Sweden has always been ahead of the curve on tech issues... or maybe it's just because 'beetcooyn' is so difficult to pronounce in swedish Smiley

What you talkin' about?  Huh
It's all abuzz(ok, maybe I exaggerate in that regard, it was in Veckans Nyheter) in schools this week with Veckans Nyheter. Sida A, fråga 6. Side A page 6 for all social science students. Gymnasium and folkhögskolor, possibly more that I don't know about.

For Swedish BTC press you can also check http://www.bitcoin.se/press/

Wow I totally missed that. Perhaps I consume to little swedish media. None of my peers are into it, soo I might be a little bit "coloured" by that.

Edit: thanks for the list! Alot more articles then I could ever have imagined!
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Introducing Ripple Currency: DYM on: April 30, 2013, 06:39:28 PM
Interesting n cool ur doing this! I am doing my best to understand how this works. Now what if you manage to build some trust, could u then start to buy stuff for your own freshly minted coins - without having the actual backing which if people knew would cause a "run on the bank" but until then would enable you to get things for free? Whats at stake is your rep. and possible legal actions I guess. Perhaps you could use a "goal keeper" (someone poor that would do anything for a little money) and build up aa huge user base before issuing unbacked coins, soo that people dont noricee it. Would Ripple make this possible?
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is everyone loving Feathercoin so much? on: April 30, 2013, 03:08:10 PM
Im not supporting it, mainly because Imm to late to the game. I think I can make more money on ltc and btc in the longrun then on fc.
117  Other / Off-topic / Re: Satoshi Nakamoto - 1,5 million Bitcoins - We need answers on: April 30, 2013, 09:06:43 AM
Or we just buy litecoins instead Wink

As you can see on the fifth graph here http://bitcoin.sipa.be/ , for many months Bitcoin was very unknown to the public and because of that difficulty didn't change to the upside. If I have understood it correctly around 1,5 million Bitcoins were created from February 2009 until the end of same year. Also if I have understood it correctly very few people mined under this time period making the conclusion that Satoshi Nakamoto and a few more people have a considerable amount of Bitcoins (worth today around 16 million dollars). You could also suppose that a majority of this coins are in the hand of Satoshi Nakamoto. Today it has gone more than two years from the birth of Bitcoin, I am convinced that Nakamoto has big plans for Bitcoin and he/she/they have put considerable amount of time and effort in this interesting project.

I am talking for my self, but I think that my thoughts concern also others that are thinking alike. I want to invest a considerable amount of money and time into this project/currency/commodity/freedom. But I think that until the person(s) behind Bitcoin doesn't come forward I think that the best I can do is to reconsider if I should invest time and money into this project. Because not getting any answers makes Bitcoin to become something uncertain and vague. If Bitcoin should become worth 100-10000+ times more than it is today, and be a serious threat to the establishment and the status quo of the financial world of today, we should demand for some sincere answers to this questions.

My questions:

How many Bitcoins in total does "Nakamoto" have?

What is "Nakamotos" estimation of how many early adopters there is that have more than 200 000 bitcoins, 100 000 bitcoins and 50 000 bitcoins?

What was the purpose of creating Bitcoin?

What is your plan for the future of Bitcoin as "Nakamoto" sees it today?

What are "Nakamoto" going to do with the wealth that has been created?

Until this questions are not answered, and I am pretty sure the person/group behind this project can read this, we should really reconsider buying in until we get some answers. If this is going to get big, this questions will always hunt us until they are answered.
