I think it would be awesome if someone created a script that fork bitcoin/litecoin, make random changes to code, random coin name, uploads to github, website, pool, etc. At least 3 coins a week. That way perhaps we could polute the crypto coin space to the degree that it becomes impossible to keep up with new coins. The goal is to inflate the number of coins in absurdum.

Then you should remove LTC from your signature. It's opensource, freedom as is.

I like this idea.

How much bounty is offered so far?

Though I suppose maybe if it is implemented as an online service that builds binaries for you so you don't even need compilers and so on yourself, it can simply have all coins it builds send some reasonable percentage of the coins to the miners, the rest to the service Tongue

I can implement cronjob... Which will download bitcoin sources tree once per 24h, adjust constants to random values, and then build it, publish at github and forum.

I'm gonna make a coin that set the reward to 0 once net hashrate is above a threshold, then set the reward to 100 once it drops below it.

I'll call it... LUCKYCOIN

Sounds like an extreme version of the JokeCoin project Smiley

I like it and I think it'd be amusing. Definitely a good critique of the influx of _____coin (and soon to be _____bar, by the looks of things) we've been seeing recently.

It's always a frenzy when new technology comes out.  Eventually it will reach the point when people ignore new currencies.  It will probably happen after atleast 100 alts have come out.

Why not a coin which automatically starts a new alt coin every time a block is found?

Or a coin based on solving CAPTCHAs - so 'mining' has to be done by people manually, computers can't do it.  Perhaps somehow you could exchange the coins for solutions to captchas, making it attractive to botnet owners and spammers.  Or use it as a distributed rainbow attack on CAPTCHA, so you have a lookup table with realtively high % chance of success if it matches a given CAPTCHA image.

There is enough OCR engines... So, this coin will be automatically-mined using CPUs, then GPUs and ASICs.
