103  Economy / Service Discussion / 11 btc gone from my account at 6:00 just a few hours ago, HELP! on: April 07, 2013, 01:05:01 PM
Hi i am posting because i had 11 BTC taken from my account just few hours ago. I am wondering if this is widespread or if maybe i have had a security breach of somekind. I have just over a bitcoin left in my account so the perpetrator did not clean me out, but near. Can someone help me out. i not too sure what can be done. i know almost nothing but i want to use this as a lesson. for myself and maybe others. Please let me know what information i can post to maybe shed some light on the situation.

Any help or input, other than trolling would be greatly appreciated.

*********UPDATE*********

RECOVERED MY BITCOINS!!!!!!!!!

This is how i did it. i went to import\export option in the blockchain website, after login in. I went to the "Add Watch Only Bitcoin Address" and inserted the bitcoin address where the coins were stored. It was this address for me 1LqYm5CM6T7QS9kDHRfPckMxZa2nfFN1wV. i added that address into that option an presto.... my balance update to the correct balance.

HORAY! Not too sure why this works or what happened but i am just happy all is well. maybe someone with technical knowledge can fill in the details. Thank you to everyone who contributed in this post and the community at large as i farmed the reddit r\bitcoin for info.

I am smiling from ear to ear.

Lucky! it is hard buying them at any price as i got in when the BTC price was at <10$ and I am still holding out for the day the bubble burst and sends price back down below 20$\BTC

i was able to get 650 Mhash from both of my cards clocked at 1100 Core clock, but i did have to run the fans at 70% 24\7 so if noise is an issue just keep your cards at 925 clock and accept the 1100mhash instead of 1300. or find a comfortable middle ground you are comfortable with.
108  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: GPU or FPGA on start? on: April 02, 2013, 01:25:40 AM
agreed you are atleast 6 months too late to the game, GPU's are probly going to consume more hydro than what you will make mining bitcoin but litecoin is a good alternative for GPU farms. as for FPGA they will work but you should really be looking at investing into ASIC hardware, they are going for as little as 150$ for 4.5 Gigahash at BFL.

I have been mining with two 7970's a 6950 a 5870 and a 5850 as well as two FPGA units, i would know. The time of ASIC is upon us, the network is growing at an incredible rate wich makes GPU mining worse and worse by the day.

Greetings to all,

I am 26 year old male from Canada who has been involved and invested in bitcoin for a little over a year. I got involved because i am a computer enthusiast and heard about people making money with computers... how far i have come since then. I do this not for the profit anymore but for what the bitcoin community represent for the global community. It's an alternative currency when we all desperately need distance ourselves from tyrannical run fiat currencies. Just wanted to say, I have thought since i started that bitcoin was the next big thing. Just wish i had purchased more bitcoins when they were at 8$ per Tongue but i can say i have made believers of my friends and family and i think that is where it starts.

I have been using the forum for about a year without posting a thing. i just wanted to start getting some posts up to enable the activity in my account. I want to thank everyone who has been a member of the community and also like to welcome all newcomers to bitcoin. After a year of up and down i now see bitcoin emerging as serious alternative to fiat currencies.

On onether note, just found out about BTCJAM.com I strongly encourage everyone to check it out but be careful. It is a peer to peer micro-loan facilitator. it embodies the spirit of bitcoin' therefore it is still vulnerable to scam artists.

thanks,
