101  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: High Efficiency FPGA & ASIC Bitcoin Mining Devices https://BTCFPGA.com on: October 05, 2012, 03:45:26 PM
I cannot post in the other thread because it is locked so here it is:

You will need to have all of us modify our signature ads, your ad is now too large and is being chopped off.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=114728.msg1247496#msg1247496

All signatures are now limited to 42 pts in height.

This fits:

Code:
[color=black][b]54Gh/s bASIC Bitcoin Mining Devices[/b][/color]
[color=orange][b]Pre-Order Yours Today![/b][/color][b]
[color=black][b]Only $1069.99 ![/b][/color] @ http://www.BitcoinASIC.com[/b]

So I have changed my signature to it for you.

You might want to fix your OP etc. in the other "free miners" thread.

Doesn't look like theymos has rolled out the css update yet so for the moment the regular sig shows fine. I will wait for what Tom says first.

I take it back, on firefox it doesn't completely show now.. but on chrome it does.. weird.

Nevermind... I think my browser was just being slow to update the style sheet.

Deepbit (I assume?Huh)
Do keep in mind that speed specs are not based on working prototype tests yet, but are guaranteed to be not worse than that.

Guaranteed worse?

AWESOME WHERE CAN I BUYZ ONE?

Stop trolling.

The order number is roughly twice the amount of bASIC orders at any given time, the numbers get jumped up in between actual orders all day long

This is for a number of reasons:

1) We have been selling and shipping products on this web site since May
2) People abandon and create fake orders every day
3) Credit cards get declined
4) People try to order stuff with guest accounts and don't follow through

I will run a report tomorrow morning and find out exactly how many bASIC units have been sold and let you guys know but typically it has kept pretty true with the rule that the amount of bASIC units ordered is roughly half of the order # count that you get when you place an order.

Chip or board shortage is not really an issue - the only thing that will slow things down is the fact that these have to actually be unboxed - firmware loaded - reboxed with the accessories, postage printed out and shipped.

This can be a lot of work when your talking 500+ units, this is the reason I have rented 2000 square feet of office space (pictures coming soon!) and have been recruiting people from the forum to come work for me for about a week to ten days to get the first wave of shipments out.

The pay will be reasonable and every night at quitting time the pizza and beer will be plentiful. It stands to be a pretty good time Smiley

I wish I could take time off to do this, sounds somewhat fun =p
106  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS - Daft Punk - Tron Headphones on: October 04, 2012, 11:29:22 PM
Why would you open something to take a picture? Especially if it was new and sealed?

Because they weren't actually sealed?

None of my comments were driven by sexism or misogyny in ANY form. My comments were made calling out a bullsh*t artist on their bullsh*t.

I singled out your comment because it best articulated the general sentiment of this thread, not because it was particularly sexist. I stand by my statement that your comment would be very offensive to transgendered persons.

Because anonymous internet forums are the epitome of political correctness.
108  Other / Off-topic / Re: As the oldest miner in the forum, I declare... on: October 04, 2012, 07:29:27 PM
well lets see... If I have been mining since 2009, I wonder how many bitcoins I have?

RelicMaria.

You probably have a ton, probably enough to actually become a REAL woman if you wanted to... But, what's your point...? That we should all be throwing ourselves at your feet begging you for BTC handouts since you're BTC-rich...? LOL...

You may be closer to the turth than you realise. If so, your statements are likely very hurtful. Some people are born with the "wrong" parts. You are claiming that they are less of a person until such time as they get the "right" parts.

Assuming that everybody is correct that "Maria" has a penis: staying in character may be a sign that she really does see herself as more of a woman than a man.

BTW, this thread was cited as an example of misogeny on the forums.

What an excellent example of misogyny. If this forums best examples of misogyny posts are troll posts like this then I'd say we are doing much better than I expected.
109  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: here's just how screwed ASIC buyers are - READ THIS if you have a preorder on: October 04, 2012, 06:40:21 PM

Here's a possible way to think of it I guess. Consider gold right now. Valuable for the known reasons. Now imagine there's an island discovered in the middle of the pacific that consists of 2-3 times the quantity of gold currently in circulation in trivially mineable form, all you need is a boat to get there. What does this do to the cost of gold? To the cost of boats? Is it worth buying a boat?

Actually, it's a crap analogy since the rate of bitcoins mined is a constant and you'd have to make assumptions about people not being able to monopolize access. Maybe someone could knock it into shape?

Yea except that gold isn't held together by a massive drug trade.
110  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: "Avalon" ASIC, announcement & pre-order. second wave @ 9:00am EDT, 10/03 on: October 04, 2012, 06:37:49 PM
I find it pretty unethical to buy for the purpose of taking up a slot and then marking it up.

These vendors should simply make the orders non-transferable, period.
I transfer this order simply because I'm unable to bear the risk of price war. I need to decentralized my orders, period.

I really do not understand what you're saying. Huh

You bought one but you don't want to pay for this because of the risk of a price war ?

Maybe it's an idea to buy something, pay for this and then sell...
I'm gonna guess that when he bought this, the Avalon was the highest GHs/1kUSD miner out there. Now BFL has bumped theirs to 60GH/s, and he wants one of those?

Hmmm, I think it's more basic than that. (pun intended)

I see what you did there!
111  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty levels by mid-2013 (end of June) on: October 04, 2012, 06:07:30 PM
By the time we get to the reward half, at block 21000, we will have mined 10,500,000 coins.

Each BFL MR is 1.5TH/s @ ~$30,000 (including shipping). At 12USD/BTC, that's 2,500BTC per BFL MR

If every single coin were spent to purchase a BFL MR, that'd be (10,500,500/2,500) = 4200 MRs.

At 1.5TH/s each, over 4200 units, that'd put our network at 6,300TH/s. Compared to our 23TH/s network, that's ~275x increase.

~3million (current difficulty) x 275 = 825million difficulty.

There's your answer.  Wink  Tongue Grin

I can't tell if you are trolling crazy!
112  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: here's just how screwed ASIC buyers are - READ THIS if you have a preorder on: October 04, 2012, 06:06:15 PM
First off, its not like these companies will be these products instantly. The network hash rate isn't going to increase 20 fold over night. This means early investors have a significant advantage over later investors. Second, your prediction over another 2x increase in network hash rate is probably not going to happen unless a price war occurs. People aren't going to invest in bASIC as the ROI goes down with the network hash rate going up. There will be some wall that is hit until all the ASIC companies lower their prices significantly which will result once again in an increase in hash rate..

Overall, if you are an early adopter you will definitely make a good chuck of bitcoin. The real question is, which company will ship first, whose theoretical numbers are most accurate (in terms of power use and hash rate) and for later adopters who is most likely ship out fastest.

hi tom,

just sent you an email since my PM is probably backlogged somewhere.

LOL - bad timing...

I have been really trying hard to knock out emails but I just hit another hourly limit.

Domain btcfpga.com has exceeded the max emails per hour (23/20 (114%)) allowed.  Message will be reattempted later

send me another PM right now and I will respond right now
thanks

Have you thought about adding another e-mail address from another provider?

Seriously, let gmail host the dns for the mail servers, it does a hell of a good job

I don't think I want anything to do with another magazine in my life after this.

Another magazine?

117  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can someone explain how the ASIC vendors can supply double spec hardware ? on: October 03, 2012, 04:38:08 PM
well for BFL im sure they had the numbers set a little lower then it really was.

Personally I wish BFL would just be honest and stop playing pr games. They should just admit they aren't as far into fab as they have been saying and state that they redesigned their board to be more competitive with others.

Obvious lie is obvious.
118  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can someone explain how the ASIC vendors can supply double spec hardware ? on: October 03, 2012, 02:44:39 PM
I think some are missing my point.

Irregardless of whether the output of the chip was known as a hard fact at the design phase, any monkey can state a smaller number as a public estimate.

This allows for a *hey presto! extra output!* occurance without having to add more chips.

Ah yes, because it is common to understate your initial performance estimates by 50% then magically decide to increase them under competition.
119  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Can someone explain how the ASIC vendors can supply double spec hardware ? on: October 03, 2012, 01:21:35 PM
On BFL's part its just business smarts.

They overestimated specs on a previous line and took a hammering over it.

This time around they seem to have underestimated to prevent a reoccurance.

This has had the added ability of keeping competitors in the dark.

bASIC et al put their cards on the table, BFL showed theirs and came out on top.

The GHz battle continues apace Smiley

BFL just increased the value of their conservative estimate.. there was no actual testing of physical hardware... Right now bASIC is ahead of $/Gh/s ... but what matters most is the power draw, which no one has actual numbers of.. just estimates based on simulations (ie bullshit)
