101  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] BTCJam - Peer to Peer Bitcoin Lending on: November 01, 2012, 05:23:33 PM
It looks as though it drops the rating of people with outstanding loans, possibly to show that they are more of a risk than someone who currently owes nothing?

Lurk, i've sent you a PM, yes the credit rating drop reflects the number of open listings/credit lines you have.

This is not a scammer tag!

Hm, but that sounds silly. If the person can still pay even if they have a lot of loans and payments are made on the due date then they shouldn't have rating lowered.
On the other hand you could add like a credit score to it, like in real life and reflect that with that.
You look at the person and then you see they have many loans repaid and then you wonder why their rating is so low.

im not scamming and i want to pay my loans.....the site will not let me...im frustrated...that is all
Hey if your username is the same as on btcjam I got a payment from you.
Don't know if that makes a difference with any other loans.

As I understood from what he is saying he is actually not buying anything and just wants to mine with his pc that he already uses for gaming.

He could mine with it in a pool for a while before it is not profitable anymore.

Even pool mining is dead for GPUs unless he is buying a game for like $1 he aint going to make much, like I said before or maybe I was speaking another language. I feel like no one wants to admit that mining is for the big dogs now, but it is sorry your late get in line.

I perfectly understand what you are saying, but what I am trying to say it didn't happen yet.
He could do it for a little while, what if even a week if it makes him happy to make even $2.
If someone wants to try, they should. Of course it would depends on the electricity costs too.

107  Other / Off-topic / Re: The Singularity on: October 31, 2012, 11:26:51 PM
The Singularity doesn’t have to be negative. You should all read From Counterculture to Cyberculture: Stewart Brand, the Whole Earth Network, and the Rise of Digital Utopianism. Technology will eventually bring about a utopia, or at least help to fulfill one or another utopian ideal. Humanities salvation will come through as social change brought on by the emerging technologies being created now because the Singularity is behind us.

I would disagree. In most all cases, technology enslaves people.

"When I was a kid" we didn't have most of this tech we have now and I feel the world was doing just fine without it.

Now... I'm a cellphone addict and an Internet addict and I'm only one of millions.

All the kids are starting out addicted to technology.

Technology is more like heroin than it is the child of utopian civilization.

But what you want to ask is, ..is it a bad thing?...
As long as history shows anything new invented seemed to be always evil, but then in a couple decades we get used to it so much that we don't notice the world without it.

Someone once said that technology makes us less intelligent, but when you look at it, it just makes us think in a different way.
The way out brain works is different, obviously with such a huge amount of information it would be impossible to remember everything.
It's like when you want to know something you just google it.
It is quite interesting to see out progression.
108  Other / Off-topic / Re: Upgrading jalapeno to little sc preorder? on: October 31, 2012, 09:46:20 PM
I asked them via e-mail on how to do this but yet to receive a reply - so how to proceed?

The way I understand their convoluted policies, if you do this you will be moved to the back of the bus, as little singe orders are being processed last.

I have upgraded from jalapeno to little single, Josh said I would keep my line since it's just an upgrade.
Also, it did took some time for them to respond, I would say like 5 days.
They are probably just really slammed with all emails asking when it is going to come out  Grin

113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What did you do with you first Bitcoin? on: October 31, 2012, 06:36:25 AM
Laugh if you must but I earned my first couple of bitcoins and then (thinking I had my backups sorted) replaced my OS and destroyed my wallet in the process ....  Embarrassed

Lesson learned though - I've now got online/offline/onsite/offsite copies of everything ...

(tip for n00bs like me - once you've finished laughing at me, make sure you're 100% backed up)

Omg I did absolutely same thing, except that I did not care for bitcoin at that time, more knowledge came later  Undecided
Then when I got my next one first one I exchanged it on mtgox  Grin

I've read all of your updates, that was so crazy. Thx for telling the progress.

Does this look legit?

I was just thinking about what if we could donate in bitcoins, their sponsor site seems to be down.
I dun get it.

How can they claim to send "100% of donations to the Red Cross" when they'll have to exchange it for USD with a fee in order for Red Cross to accept the donation?

They mentioned that they will cover transactions fees, so I am assuming that is either bitcoin transaction fee or exchange fees.

Never said I *was* a girl (except in my title which is there to get people to click on it as mug as possible) now that I think about it though, breast implants aren't a bad call--I am a bit flat chested. Sad

Omg, shouldn't have said that. I just imagined you like that  Grin...
you should definitely go with all natural ones, stem cells.
120  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is this the beginning of the end to PayPal? on: October 30, 2012, 09:11:37 AM
you guys do realise something though.. paypal doesn't make its money.. eBay does.

think about it. chargebacks from banks cost paypal money. verifying accounts by sending those 2 random amounts of pennys costs paypal money. sending cash to your bank costs paypal money.

its eBay that makes the money. so as long as eBay is used by the majority of online traders giving them all the listing fee's final value fee's etc. Then paypal wont disappear as it has and will continue to be funded by the profits of its eBay division. so if you want to kill paypal you have to kill eBay.

Doesn't eBay owns PayPal though? So all the money goes to the same company anyway.
