101  Local / 山寨币 / Chinese speakers for bitcoinpresscenter.org on: May 10, 2013, 07:09:43 AM
I'm one of the volunteers managing the bitcoinpresscenter.org. We help the world press find high quality bitcoin expert opinion for press, TV and radio.

We desperately need quality Chinese bitcoin experts for the site.

Can anyone help find good press contacts, add their information to our site, help us translate into English?

I'm one of the hosts on Let's talk bitcoin and I have mentioned the project on the show.

I will have lots of samples at the bitcoin 2013 conference, with a discount coupon on them. This is the kind of product that needs to be touched and seen in person, to appreciate the quality and beauty.
103  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY CLOSED] Open Source (CC) Paper Wallet Kit for safe offline coin storage on: May 10, 2013, 03:45:48 AM
Only 2 pre-orders left. I increased the pre-order stock twice and still sold out twice.

I am quite surprised at how quickly these are selling.

SafePaperWallet.com

We have opened pre-orders for the SafePaperWallet kit, a pre-printed sheet (4 up) of beautiful paper wallets, with great security features. The QR codes are blank so you can add them securely at home, while offline:

These paper wallets are made on a beautiful, thick weave-texture, acid-free and archival quality paper.

Each wallet has a backup "stub" so you can store a second copy of the keys at a different location

We provide opaque scratch-off security stickers to put on the private keys, to protect from disclosure, water, dirt or scratches.

Each kit also comes with instructions and a set of blank templates to align and test your printer

Your kit includes 10 sheets of four paper wallets each, enough to print 40 wallets so you can spread your bitcoin fortune and reduce the risk of loss:

Buy your SafePaperWallet kit now, discounted price for pre-orders while supplies last *

*The first 8 of 12 were sold in two days. Four more kits for pre-order, then the price goes up.
105  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Press Center - an inclusive, open and feature rich site for media on: May 10, 2013, 03:21:15 AM
Some people have visited bitcoinpresscenter.org and added 3-4 others, nominating them and widening the circle of press contacts. This is amazing and altruistic and much appreciated.

Then there's those who nominated themselves and no one else - that's cool, but doesn't help make a bigger press center.

Please help me add more voices to the bitcoin press center - Nominate those you have heard, read, watched promote bitcoin to the media. Do you like a specific writer? Someone who does great TV interviews? Do you know someone who would be great at this work but is not in the media light yet? Nominate them!

We especially need contacts, native language speakers, from countries that have larger and growing bitcoin adoption:

  • China
  • Netherlands
  • Russia
  • Germany
  • Finland
  • Sweden
  • France
  • Poland
  • Japan
  • Portugal
  • Brazil
  • Argentina

and many more.

The bitcoin press center, is intended to be the global press center for bitcoin.

We have plenty of white men who speak about bitcoin in English, hint hint.
106  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Open Bitcoin Store: Free bitcoin online stores on: May 10, 2013, 03:11:28 AM
We passed 100 free stores launched some time last week, in our first month of operation.

Some of the are succeeding and look amazing. Some have failed to get beyond the launch. That's ok, the whole point of openbitcoinstore is that you can try without cost or risk!

Do you have an idea that could allow you to earn bitcoin instead of buying bitcoin? Now you can try that idea.

Openbitcoinstore.com, it's free, it's easy, it take 30 seconds from idea to store.

[...] he'll ship you professionally printed designs (offset printing) and then you just laserprint on the QR codes and alphanum keys in B&W.

I have upgraded the printing order, it will now be a full linotype press print, not digital offset, which will result in much much higher quality with brilliant color and durability of color. I received an incredible rush of pre-orders at the discounted price, which gave me confidence that I will sell all of them, so I upgraded all the parameters of the print production:

- Full lino press
- Micro-perforations instead of regular perforations - 72 cuts per inch, makes a completely smooth edge.
- A beautiful "Crown" brand, 80# weight, textile-weave textured white paper.
- Double volume: 2000 sheets (8000 wallets), instead of 1000

It should work. Could you send me a screenshot of the failure message at info@bitcoinpresscenter.org or any other bug details?

Thanks for testing!
109  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Creating a profitable website, how to do it without anything except the idea ? on: May 09, 2013, 06:08:13 AM
The idea is worth little. It's all about execution.

If you want to sell something, try openbitcoinstore.com, it's free. You can fail or succeed without spending any bitcoin. HAve an idea, sell it. Takes 30 seconds to launch a free store.
110  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Press Center - an inclusive, open and feature rich site for media on: May 09, 2013, 06:06:50 AM
Thanks, published.

The new site design has launched. Bug reports, feedback and comments welcome.

Also, the more high-quality contacts we can add, especially non-English speakers, the more useful this site will be.

Please, anyone who can identity two or three people who you know to be interested in become press contacts (ask them first), register and add those contacts. The goal is to have a rich database full of press contacts in dozens of languages and countries and representing every aspect of the community: developers, businesses, users, merchants, miners, teachers, media. Add rich biographical information, metadata and high-res photos. The press need and value that depth and detail.

I spoke to a TV interview booking agent today, who found and used the site. They are booking interviews now from the site contacts. This is the third press contact in less than 24 hrs.

The Bitcoin Press Center is the community's press center. You own it, now go register and help me fill it. Anyone can now add value to this site. Go!

Canton,

Very kind of you to drop a mention of the Safe Paper Wallet.

Today I upgraded the initial order, from 4000 to 8000 wallets, from regular perforation to micro-perf and from digital offset to 4-color linotype press.

The paper is a textile-weave texture, on 250gsm weight heavy paper which is acid-free and archival quality to last a lifetime, even on display and under light (which degrades regular paper and inks).

I will have samples at the conference.

The next print run will include your design as I branch out to more designs (and the MB Messer design too).

If the current rate of orders continues for a few days, I will be running break-even by end of week and ordering the next print run for 20,000 wallets.

Thank you for the mention and all your incredible work on this and other projects!
112  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] Bitcoin Press Center - an inclusive, open and feature rich site for media on: May 07, 2013, 11:11:26 PM
That part where you can endorse people with qualitative comments is in development, will be released next week. In the mean time, the filtering is enough to focus the list and the order is randomized on every page load.

There will not be a "downvote" option. No endorsements will suffice to drop people to page 2 and beyond in the sort order.

113  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens when quantum computing is feasible? on: May 07, 2013, 11:08:59 PM
People will still use passwords like "password123" and "goraiders" which will cause them to lose their money, but instead of worrying about that, let's worry about the most obscure non-risk we can come up with:

- Alien technology in the blockchain?
- 51% hash pool "attacks"
- Quantum cryptography
- Breaking ECSA
- Breaking SHA256

Did I forget any ridiculous non-risks?

Sorry, I have to go spend some bitcoin from my web-based single-factor un-backed-up wallet now.

Hey! ... why aren't Roger Ver and Jon Matonis on bitcoinpresscenter.org ?? ... is this some kind of political censorship or something? Cheesy  Wink

PS: good work btw.

Signup, create a user and add whoever you want.

I won't nominate anyone yet...

117  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY CLOSED] Open Source (CC) Paper Wallet Kit for safe offline coin storage on: May 07, 2013, 05:30:22 PM
I would love to sell outside the US, I have not yet figured out he shipping complexities. At least with bitcoin I don't have to worry about the payment complexities, yay!

I will open to world sales as quickly as possible, starting May 19th. I'm a bit reluctant to just open "All countries" because who knows what will pop-up and how I will manage the delivery or any problems (returns etc). Perhaps there is no need for concern, I should just do international mail.

Which country are you interested in buying from?

Ah, screw it. No pain, no gain:

International Orders now open: safepaperwallet.com
