If you lose, wouldn't you like to know beyond a doubt that you fairly lost? Know if you were unlucky or fleeced. That's what provably fair allows you to do.

Provably fair does not necessarily mean provably fair.  Roll Eyes

When it comes to anonymous cyrpto currency in an unregulated gambling market, I'd expect numerous operators to pull every trick in the book to screw over people.

For example:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1frm4x/provably_fair_by_bitzino_not_provable_with/

If something isn't provably fair or if people do manage to figure out problems with the PVF system then once thats out, the site loses on a lot of players . People should always do their research before blindly trying out a new site. I doubt reputed site operators would pull any trick in the book just to cheat people , they would actually be losing a large chunk of their revenue by being fair.

"I doubt reputed site operators would pull any trick in the book to cheap people"

This statement has been proven UNTRUE time and time again over the past decade...from small time operators like BLR technologies to regulated UK gaming companies..."irreglarites" have been FOUND ALWAYS resulting in the house getting an advantage above average.

Do not believe that just because a site publishes a "provably fair" system then that is all there is to it, if they want to cheat they will cheat you. That reddit thread just details a FEW ways a provably fair system can give you VERIFIED fair results and still have cheated you, I'm sure they dozens of more ways.

Point being, I trust software such as Netent or Playtech(both of which are not provably fair) more then any bitcoin casino flashing a provably fair badge...

 Cool

Not that I blindly trust a reputed site, but it is still avoidable to be cheated if you were to know the ways they could cheat . An example of this would be Nitrogensports . Their blackjack is claimed to be rigged by many , even though its provably fair its highly likely that their default seeds make the dealer hit close to 21 more than the player. If you are really worried about provably fair then the best thing to do would be go play live or play on a site which offers live betting.
102  Economy / Gambling / Re: Cloudbet.com - high stakes Wimbledon betting | sportsbook and casino on: July 09, 2015, 09:24:17 PM
STAY AWAY FROM THIS SITE - I contacted them several times about the BlackJack -- Of course I was told "Sorry about the Bad Cards dealt".  So I continued to play for several days and a few thousand dollars of BTC- I can handle a few bad sittings at a BlackJack Table, but EVERY SINGLE time I sat it was the same story - I have never seen so many dealer draws to 21, so many pat 20's and the list goes on.  Statistically it is not possible to have that much bad luck (or good luck if you are the house)  -- The stupid part was me believing it is provably fair-- the problem with Provably Fair is the Seeds and the way "fair" is defined-- if the deck is stacked in favor of the house, then it will show that the cards are being dealt "Fair" if the hand is plugged in...

I am not complaining about the money lost, but I am just warning anyone that wants to play here to plan on not winning at BJ.  Having said that, they offered to show it was a Fair hand and that it can be Proven-- i just do not think that the fact it can be plugged into a system and shows it that it means it is fair-- there are hundreds of ways to "reverse engineer" it to work out that way--

YES- You can now close my account - I will not be back

Are you talking about the live BJ or the one offered by their gaming system ? If its the gaming system one, then you should know its best to stay away from that on any site. And if you felt it was not fair then you should have stopped earlier instead of continuing playing there. In the end it could just have been bad luck.
103  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Quinto and PM poker security scam on: July 09, 2015, 08:49:54 PM
Seems they did/do have the same headers but I doubt anyone would give then negative rep just based on that. But it does seem clear that the person behind both the accounts is the same one. PMPoker also seems to have started a lottery with a payout that is almost impossible for them to have and they are showing some false promises on being backed by some company.
104  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Primedice's Scammers on: July 09, 2015, 08:46:00 PM
I wonder how could you fall for such an obvious scam. The other guy has nothing to lose here and blindly sending him the funds is the most stupid thing you can do to get scammed.

106  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE.ME - NEW GAME RELEASED! REGISTERED CASINO. 1 YEAR OLD. on: July 09, 2015, 08:35:57 PM

Min. bet is only 0.00001BTC, so you can try it for almost nothing

I just meant a lot of people don't bother to deposit only to see the concept of the game , even though its only a small amount .
How does posting the cold wallet help ? If a site shuts down and steals investor funs then whether the money is in the cold wallet address or out of it, either way they are in control of it.
107  Economy / Gambling / Re: Free open source bitcoin gaming backend on: July 09, 2015, 08:33:10 PM
It might be attractive to a few but how would they test it ? Wouldn't a demo of sorts be hard to show unless a front end for it exists ? If you could pull up a demo then you can get a better answer to your question .
108  Economy / Gambling / Re: Urgent! Any site allows me to bet on Sunday's Greek vote? on: July 08, 2015, 04:42:00 PM
@DirectDice

The page says: This bet earned you [ x ] loyalty points.

You need [ y ] more loyalty points by the end of this month to receive your next milestone reward of [ z ] BTC.

The question is, how do I claim this? I haven't registered with the site.

I also have a Bitcoin Transaction ID.

I didn't find Dbs answer too clear . I usually just email their support with a BET id with the payout to the same address I usually use and they just credit the milestone reward to that bet id .

Hi Twipple,

Thanks for betting at DirectBet and for being our VIP Member Smiley

Our VIP Rewards Program is now fully automated, so if you prefer you can also redeem your VIP rewards automatically and apply it to any of your bets, even during in-play betting (without emailing support).

Sweet just saw the Apply VIP reward button . This seems to be much better than before Smiley .

110  Economy / Gambling / Re: How do you guys win these gambling sites on: July 08, 2015, 03:57:45 PM
Depending on the game if its something like poker than skill can be used. For pure gambling its only luck that will help you. There are also lots of people who do strategies and keep betting till they start profitting, but that again is just luck . There are lots of example of this whre people first lost a lot then finally were able to be lucky and go in the positive side in terms of profits.
111  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Escrows on: July 08, 2015, 03:55:42 PM
You can read here " How to become an escrow? "
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1094214.0
Its fairly hard to become an escrow from the ground up . From what I see there are only 2 reasons to become an escrow . 1 . To charge a fee to act as an escrow and offer those services professionally.
2. To protect the community from scams.

Either way , the community now has sufficient number of escrows and doing it for the 1st wouldn't do much good as people tend to just stick to the already reputed ones.
Becoming an escrow is not a problem , but you should still focus on developing a reputation on the forum for one and after many deals consider becoming one.
112  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed report on user kralle on: July 08, 2015, 03:51:52 PM
Hi all just wanted to let you know I won the PayPal dispute and got my money back

Glad to hear that! Do u mind sharing with us on what statement did you receive the dispute, because i heard that a lot of people didn't get credited
reimburstment when mentioning bitcoin in their dispute claim. What is the safest way one could make to win the dispute if it's bitcoin related ?

cheers

Best to just say that a deal happened for a physical product , and not mention bitcoin  . I believe even if you were to mention a digital product or bitcoin, then the person sending the funds would usually win the dispute as they don't entertain dispute requests for those.
113  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CloudThink.IO removed management pictures after being caught with stealing on: July 08, 2015, 03:37:04 PM
I am trying to get a friend who lives near Manchester to drop in at their "Global Headquarters" and see what's what.
Watch this space.
 Smiley

I actually called the office that have their posters on the building through google maps, they didn't seem to know about the company, but maybe that could be the person not knowing about it. I am sure they would have some form of representation there which could also just be a person working for another company or a desk office for this company. If its not a big office then it shouldn't be taken seriously.

Trying to understand new slope game do you have play money currency to try the game

Unfortunately nope, but we just started a giveaway: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1112962.0
Would be a good idea to have faucet or free credits for the game for people to understand the game. Looks good so far.
115  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE.ME - REGISTERED LEGAL CASINO. 1 YEAR OLD. on: July 02, 2015, 06:47:43 PM
Nice to know you guys got your account back. But how do you know it was spoderman who hacked the account and how did he manage to do so ?
Prolly done with phishing i guess?
Would still be impossible unless spoderman was the person responsible for the hack. Else, I don't see how he would be phishing around with that particular account and get lucky with the password.

117  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE.ME - CRYPTO CASINO - DICE - BLACKJACK - >100BTC MAX PROFIT - 1 YEAR OLD on: July 02, 2015, 02:04:05 PM
Guys, unfortunately official account was hacked. Please dont answer on ANY PM, I'm trying to contact Theymos.

Regards, Alex.

Perhaps you should still have chosen a name with bitdice in it, rather than changing it with bitidce. Also would be good if you could provide some proof of your claim of your original account being hacked.
118  Economy / Gambling / Re: lets say I had a +EV method for a dice site, how much would you pay to know it? on: July 02, 2015, 07:44:22 AM
But that will only be the case with sites which have a fault in them and the person is exploiting that flaw. The method on its own wouldn't be +EV , and since substrata already mentioned that it doesn't involve taking advantage of a flaw, we can rule that out.

Right, and he also said it doesn't involve a jackpot. Sometimes jackpots can be +EV for the player - maybe it's being paid out of the site's pocket as a promotion, or maybe it's a progressive pot that fills over time from other players making losing bets.

But if there's no flaw and no jackpot then I don't see where the +EV is going to come from.

Yes.
By the way he did say he sent you a PM .

I'll send him a pm.

edit: sent, seems hes online so now we wait.
119  Economy / Gambling / Re: lets say I had a +EV method for a dice site, how much would you pay to know it? on: July 02, 2015, 07:38:30 AM

Edit2: Lots of people are saying it's not possible to find a +EV strategy. I wouldn't be so sure. There can be all kinds of problems with the implementation of a dice game. PRC dice used to roll high numbers more often than low numbers due to a bug, and so it was possible to have a +EV game just by rolling 'hi' every time. I can imagine a game where your payout is rounded up to the nearest satoshi rather than down, such that a 60% bet ends up paying 2x for small bets. That would be +EV. And so on.
But that will only be the case with sites which have a fault in them and the person is exploiting that flaw. The method on its own wouldn't be +EV , and since substrata already mentioned that it doesn't involve taking advantage of a flaw, we can rule that out.

Wouldn't this be the same thing as tippers who want to share their tips ? Already enough on the forum. They share their tips mostly because they have a good bet to tell.
