Litecoin has always been faster and cheaper but these are small benefits when you consider the grand scheme of the original bitcoin chain which now actually isn't a high risk investment anymore IMO.

Cannot say what happens to bitcoin at any moment.It is always considered as a illegal currency.If you open tor network you would see all transactions happens through bitcoin.Tor is not legal and bitcoin too.But things may change and some countries may start adopting bitcoin.
It is not illegal currency who said that it is illegal currency i'm myself using bitcoin because bitcoin has reduce many problems of mine. Just wondering, as I am reading a lot about Fork risks especially with bitcoin gold.
I have the private keys (the 12 words) safely stored.
What if I simply uninstall the wallet that has my BTC (it is Jaxx by the way) before the fork, then reinstall later and recover from the 12 keywords. Would that be ok or will be risk?
Would my BTC remain BTC or can accidentally be changed to BTG?

Do not worry too much about this, you can still keep it as bitcoin and it will not turn into bitcoin gold. Blocking your bitcoin may prevent you from receiving extra bitcoin gold from the hard fork event. There is a difference between bitcoin and bitcoin gold. Since they get income from bitcoin, their life is depend on bitcoin .Hence the bitcoin involved in the development of country .Many people inverse Their salary in bitcoin to get profit from it.
