101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins worth investing on: December 24, 2016, 05:35:43 AM
How do you guys select the ones with the potential?
What sites do you check?
What are your criteria?
Do you have some system?

I believe you have incentive to share this information because more of us invest in one coin, more the price is. Smiley

First is the problem the project is trying to solve.
The calibre of developers behind the project are they public people that their profile can be verified.
The escrow to hold the ICO fund

These two site can help icocountdown.com and ico-list.com

These 2 sites are really helpful. I kinda forgot about them.
Is it really wise to invest in altcoins now with the current bitcoin behavior?

All altcoins are invest at your own risk,so any recommendations that you're going to get from this thread consider this investment with risk, the only profitable altcoins now are those listed in the top 10 in the coinmarketcap, there were a lot of new coin, but you should use your own judgment if you're going to invest here.

If you ask me Burstcoin is a good invesment.Icobid CGC project and Victoriouscoin are promising coin this 2017.

In any cryptocurrency, be it Bitcoin or altcoin, always exercise caution. There is always a risk when investing in anything.
If you want to find a coin worth investing, check its previous performance and how it holds up during large fluctuations.

No offence, but most of these question can just be googled. That's what I did when I got into bitcoins and altcoins. There are a lot of articles available online. For more specific doubts use the forums. You can also try bitcoin stackexchange
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to launch an altcoin on: December 23, 2016, 12:30:37 PM
Yes, as a junior member you will be able to post images, links, images with embed links, a lot of features will be activated but it takes more then 2 weeks to be Jr, as you can only have 14 activity/2Weeks. Keep posting or connecting.

I read about the activity calculation [min(time*14,posts)] but didn't really understand what it meant. What is the time here and how is it calculated
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looking to Float an ICO for BTC projects on: December 23, 2016, 12:20:12 PM
interesting thing you got going there. Details would be nice
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralized Satellite System on: December 23, 2016, 12:14:59 PM
1. Who would launch such a satellite?
2. Why would they put in a huge amount to launch it?
3. What would it accomplish?

I think this is moot..........the logistic and operational costs itself would be so high that this system would never break even.
107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to launch an altcoin on: December 23, 2016, 10:25:12 AM
I'm sorry to tell you that you cannot post graphics and banners if you are a newbie, you can hire some one to post in your behalf but you can not edit it yourself, you could end paying the guy for every change you'll going to do,much better to increase your level to member rank so you can post graphics and banners to your announcement.

Is it possible to post images as a jr. member? also will i be able to style text and links?
108  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to launch an altcoin on: December 23, 2016, 05:50:29 AM
You forgot to include unmoderated thread, your thread should not be moderated so you can accommodate valid question, scam dev usually set it to moderated thread then delete all the negative remarks to make them more attractive to investors.

Thanks, will keep the thread unmoderated
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to launch an altcoin on: December 23, 2016, 05:41:58 AM
Please let me be more "clear" :

The PREANN thread "must" have included these informations in order to be considered as valid :

- Description of the project with all the details.
- Description of the team members, it inculed social accounts, true identity is highly advised.
- Description of the coin's specs, usage, why use, why create this, how will it work.
- If you are going to launch an ICO then you must add :
   - Financial plan.
   - Identity of escrow.
   - Coin distribution.
   - Management of premine.
- Website.
- If possible, github link for the coin's source, or project's source if open sourced.
- Any usefull info about the team, the coin, the project.

Try also to answer to everyone's questions, don't ignore the scam accusators, try to prove your project to be legit, display an understandable roadmap.
With all of this, you may release a successfull preann who will drive some people to the main ann Smiley

Thanks for this, was trying to go through a few PRE-ANNs and ANNs to make a general list of things i need to put in.
Definitely gonna be a legit altcoin.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to launch an altcoin on: December 22, 2016, 06:50:49 AM
if you're thinking about a PRE ANN, please, do it when you have something to show us.
most PRE ANN i've seen these days is just something like:

"i'm developing a new coin, wait and see! bitcoin killer app"
and that's all..

I'll try to make the PREANN as informative as possible. Will include the system specs and working. Hopefully will be able to release the whitepaper along with it. If not I will update as soon as possible
111  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: December 21, 2016, 06:08:10 AM
The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

i don't quite understand what time is in terms of 2 week periods. Just to clarify, if i joined on jan 1 and it is feb 1 today, does that mean time=2?

Thanks for the info, didn't know that. I'm still getting the feel of this forum
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to launch an altcoin on: December 20, 2016, 05:40:32 AM
Thanks for your replies, it has been really helpful Smiley
I shall try to keep everything said above in mind before releasing a PRE ANN. I shall try to keep the entire process, system, and ICO (if there is one) transparent. We are looking for investors in this project.
We are looking to develop an application that would be new and helpful.
114  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to launch an altcoin on: December 20, 2016, 05:33:36 AM
You should do a pre ann as recommended by coin investor try to be as transparent as possible, you did not mention if this is a pos or a pow,I only recommend that you do not create a huge supply,a moderate supply of 50 million is good for the future of the coin.
My team and I have just started conceptualizing and building. We are leaning towards a pow system.
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to launch an altcoin on: December 19, 2016, 02:19:59 PM
If I am still working on the code and want people to be aware of my project, how do I put up a post for that? (is that a PRE ANN?)
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / How to launch an altcoin on: December 19, 2016, 01:34:13 PM
Hey everyone,
I'm relatively new to a forum like bitcoin talk. Apologies if this question is off topic or on a wrong board.

I have recently started development of application based on blockchain. I am working on a new altcoin for the application. I would like to know what is the process to launch it on bitcoin talk. I have seen the announcement board and found a few PRE-ANN altcoins. Can someone please help me by explaining what is the difference between PRE-ANN and ANN? Also how do I go about announcing my own altcoin?

Thanks in advance Smiley
117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Differnce Between Proof of Work and Proof of Stake on: November 29, 2016, 05:50:43 AM
So actually people who have more of the coin will get more rewards by more mining. So for example if you owned 1% of all coin mined, you'd get 1% PoS blocks. Does that mean that someone with 0.00001% will never get PoS blocks and therefore never gain anything from mining it? If so, most people will bail out reducing it's price and finally killing the coin...

it just means that the more you put in the more you stand to gain.............higher the investment, higher the reward
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How to prevent ASIC for my new Atlcoins? on: November 19, 2016, 11:04:37 AM
Is it possible to have a web browser based mining algorithm? If there is a browser based miner, would it be ASIC-deterrent by default or not?
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question about new miner on: November 18, 2016, 01:13:43 PM
Pretty too much wrong suggestion. Roll Eyes AMD is far better than Nvidia, and consumes way less power than Nvidia as well. With an exception of 1070, all other models of Nvidia are nothing but wastage of money for the mining.

In case of zcash, the nicehash pool miner performs far better on NVIDIA than AMD. Initially they had a bit of a problem, but later rectified it to give almost twice as many H/s as AMD
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question about new miner on: November 18, 2016, 01:03:41 PM
Nvidia gives the best results for zcash. You can use that for ETH as well
