101  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-08]Segwit2x "suspending our plans for the upcoming 2MB upgrade" on: November 09, 2017, 07:51:18 AM
I think it is obvious that we need to upgrade, a smooth upgrade for our community.

It isn't obvious at all.

The blocksize has already been "upgraded", 2 months ago. And the new limit's not even close to full yet.

And that makes it sound like constantly full blocks necessarily requires an increase; there are good arguments that the blocks should always be as close to full as possible for a proper fee market to work.

So well said.
As segwit tx percentage increases we see more and more benefits from effective block size.
The rhetoric is still around 1mb blocks from many people which is just totally not true.
The 2x campaign was based on a false dilemna - "2x or bitcoin will never scale".
Bitcoin does need to scale. In the future.
There will be many opportunities and solutions.
The key is they need to be based on consensus not bullying by one group with an ulterior to control the bitcoin brand.
Now I expect the old "coffee debate" arguments and "L2 problems" arguments will intensify.
Certain people seem to have a need to constantly find a future problem and pretend it has to be done NOW with their solution.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Necronomicon thread: Altcoins which are dead. on: November 09, 2017, 07:41:05 AM
Would anyone here be interested in working with me to try do something about this list?

Depends on what - but sure.

#crysx

Great, thanks I'll pm you so we can speak.
In the meantime I am finding discovery a real challenge.
There doesn't seem to be somewhere that lists all coins with data on date, hashrate, markets etc.
I have been looking one by one.
I was thinking about using APIs but there is still a lot of data missing.
Any suggestions guys for profiling?
103  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-23] The Wolf of Wall Street Thinks Some ICOs Are 'The Biggest Scam Ever on: November 06, 2017, 12:03:56 PM

We easily can call 2017 as year of ICO. Among all those ICO that's are a lot of scam, mostly because of this area of business is still not regulated, but the process of regulating finelly began and I think it's good. Investors should to be protected from scammers.
I am agree with you that the idea of ICO is great, but we all need to learn to use if for good.
Yes. Already the overcrowding and the difficulty in raising will hopefully slow down scammers trying to get into the space.
It will take a few months for effect though.
I think by mid 2018 we should see a more balanced approach to ICOs
104  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-23] The Wolf of Wall Street Thinks Some ICOs Are 'The Biggest Scam Ever on: November 06, 2017, 10:35:38 AM
The question is where regulation comes from.
The more that we impose best practices and reduce the level of scams the better regulation will be for everyone.
If we do nothing as a community then the regulation will be draconian.
105  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-04] Credit Suisse CEO: Bitcoin Is The “Very Definition of a Bubble” on: November 05, 2017, 05:26:30 PM
Partly with such a statement one can not but agree. Indeed, the significant interest of people in bitcoin arises from the fact that most of them hope that the bitcoin rate will grow and they will have a profit. If bitcoin does not rise so sharply in price, interest in it will significantly weaken. At the same time, it is impossible to reject other advantages of crypto currency that are not related to profit, but with simplicity, accessibility, relative anonymity and ease of use.

I agree.
There is also a huge failure among many of these "experts" to distinguish between new people speculating and believers who know it is a true store of value.
Just because some new people came to the market speculating does not mean everyone holding or buying bitcoin is speculating.
106  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-05] Bitcoin May Rise To $20,000, But Will Eventually Collapse on: November 05, 2017, 05:22:19 PM
I agree that Bitcoin will go up.
I agree that it could collapse.
I don't agree that it is only "speculative interest". Bitcoin has clear and proven use cases for money and SOV.
107  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Bitcoin Africa on: November 05, 2017, 05:17:56 PM

108  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: Find an upcoming Blockchain and ICO event near you! on: November 05, 2017, 05:14:04 PM
Who is going to the ICO event in Amsterdam.
I'm thinking of going.

Hi there! Yes, I work at the Smile-Expo company(which is the organizer). You can reach me if you have any questions regarding existing and/or upcoming events.
Regarding the events in India - there will be a major Blockchain & Bitcoin Conference in 2018. Stay tuned!

I was looking at the new Slovenia event.
I've attended a lot of your events and spoken at them including Prague, Kiev and Estonia.
I would like to know if Slovenia will have a lot of english speakers attending?

112  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-01] ✔ Amazon.com registers cryptocurrency domain names ??? on: November 05, 2017, 04:17:37 PM
I agree.
Too much being ascribed to what actually doesn't mean anything.
113  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-10-23] The Wolf of Wall Street Thinks Some ICOs Are 'The Biggest Scam Ever on: November 05, 2017, 03:44:42 PM
There are many useless coins and many terrible ICOs but this is another example of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
That does not mean that ALL are scams are useless.
ICO is a great tool.
We just have to learn how to use it
114  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-05] Bitcoin Dominance Index Surpasses 61% for First Time since March on: November 05, 2017, 12:45:52 PM
Expect this to keep edging up as we approach the fork.
The real test will be post fork

116  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-02] Bitcoin is a commodity, not a currency, Allianz's Mohamed El-Erian on: November 05, 2017, 08:11:28 AM
I don't agree.
Commodity can be a store of value in fact often is.
Look at gold.
Gold is not money today.
The thing about bitcoin is that it is both at the same time.
In a way that nothing else is.
117  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-02] Cryptocurrency exchange to exclude majority of ICOs on: November 05, 2017, 08:09:35 AM
The majority of exchanges only list a fraction of coins anyway.
So I guess the question is when is an ICO no longer considered an ICO?
118  Economy / Economics / Re: What is Bitcoin's fair value? on: November 02, 2017, 08:50:27 AM
Also since it is so new and so many mainstream avenues not involved yet we need to factor these in.
Every major addition creates a push on demand whether it is a large retailer of like CME from this week.
Those are incredibly difficult to quantify
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What should we consider in looking for Good Signature Campaign? on: November 02, 2017, 08:43:24 AM
Are you looking to promote someone on your signature or setup a campaign for someone to promote your product?
120  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-11-01] ✔ Amazon.com registers cryptocurrency domain names ??? on: November 02, 2017, 08:41:42 AM
I don't know if Amazon will actually accept or not but this looks much more like protecting their brand and traffic.
I don't think these domains are to accept crypto but rather prevent someone from registering the domains and capitalizing on their brand and the news
