1. iOS basic release (50% fund release, or min 750 BTC)
The beta release of Gems will support instant messaging, push notifications, new user registration and login, contact directory and display the GEMZs wallet. Release server backend which supports both the cloud instant messaging and counterparty integration.

Holy. Fuck.

So the whole INTERESTING and MOST IMPORTANT aspect of Gemz (the airdrop algorithm, the trust score regulation and threshold levels, and how these will interact with Counterparty to distribute Gemz across the network) isn't even REQUIRED for the devs to cash 750 BTC?

The app they are releasing will be a basic shell messaging app with some fancy Gemz designs and your own wallet that doesn't do anything. THIS is the most trivial part of the whole project and they get 750 BTC!?

And people say im trolling, lmao. Neuro, check SendChat and compare thats what ive been doing.

SMH.

This is beyond ridiculous. And I made an edit to the post you quoted that stated how this instantly discredits Koinify and their ability to create the most basic, reasonable checkpoints.

You allow a project team HALF their crowdfunded money for an arbitrary checkpoint that shows zero progress into the actual meat of the project? I would sue the shit out of Koinify in Gems dev team runs off with 750 BTC. Actually, I wouldn't even have invested in the first place.

But my god... this is the most irresponsible project crowdfunding management I've ever seen.

+1 it is very irresponsible.

If I was Koinify, I would be prepare for people taking legal action when Gems devs have zero incentive to work on Gems after they receive FUCKING 750 BTC FOR A SHELL iPHONE APP. And I'd be prepared for some pissed of VCs coming at you for such horrendous mismanagement of your first crowdfunded project.

Ultimately it's on the investors who saw the project timeline and still decided to back the project, but that doesn't mean their anger isn't going to be directed at Koinify for such stupidity in hindsight. 50% of the bitcoins for 5% of the work... yeah that's smart. We're talking about $250,000 minimum for a fucking iPhone app that sends messages and has literally NOTHING integrated with any Gemz infrastructure.

neuroMode, we can understand your initial reaction from your knowledge and experience from current state of the altcoin market (many scams etc).

Most ICO's have very low accountability towards the buyers and the buyers have very little ability to conduct a due diligence. We are taking the exact opposite route with Gems token sale. As an exmaple, Dario Mutabdzija (Koinify co-founder) visited Israel as part of Koinify's long due diligence on Gems.

Tom Ding (Koinify CEO) expressed  "The problem is the signal-to-noise ratio is really high". "There are too many noises and it becomes really hard for people who want to invest or purchase good, high-quality projects, tokens, to differentiate a good from a bad one."

coindesk article: http://www.coindesk.com/koinify-melotic-plan-bring-order-crypto-crowdsales/ describes well this problem that Koinify is trying to solve.

Koinify is raising the quality and accountability of crypto crowdfunding: (i) True Multi-Sig Wallet (ii) Milestone Based Fund Release (iii) project arbitrator (iv) exchange partners (v) Due Diligence.

We have been very transparent at every stage of the project: being public with our identities, having an unmoderated bitcointalk thread, the AMA on Reddit, podcast interviews, google hangout and more. We want to build a community around Gems and the only way to do that is to be as open and transparent with our users regarding Gems product and Gems short and long term vision.

Please let us know what other crypto crowdfund has taken the measures we have.

(p.s, kickstarter the most successful crowdfund platform with $1,448,395,609 dollars pledged to Kickstarter projects provide much less accountability to buyers regarding project success than Koinify. Koinify does a more in-depth due diligence process and has control over significant amount of the funds)

(p.s.s, we agree that Koinify can potentially increase the limitation regarding the funds release by adding more development milestones, but this approach has disadvantages also, it effects the ability of the project founders to make longer term financial decisions (recruiting developers etc) and will slow down the development process. It will also add more ongoing work for Koinify regarding not only "new" project but maintaining the "old" ones. We think the current approach of 3-4 milestones is the right balance as long as you conduct a good due-diligence on the project founders (very similar to VC and startups) but in the end its Koinify business decision to make).

It doesn't matter how public you guys are, it all comes down to how much of the raised money you give the project team for completing the first task relative to how much work/progress that first task actually entailed.

You are giving Gems hundreds of thousands of dollars for releasing a prototype messenger app that contains zero functionality with respect to the actual Gems network. The actual Gems network and all its intricacies of how it'll actually work and communicate with the app do not exist yet because the money from the first checkpoint will be used to create it. There is something seriously, seriously wrong with this scenario.

So the whole INTERESTING and MOST IMPORTANT aspect of Gemz (the airdrop algorithm, the trust score regulation and threshold levels, and how these will interact with Counterparty to distribute Gemz automatically and correctly across the network) isn't even REQUIRED for the devs to cash 750 BTC? The entire innovation that this whole project needs to operate at the most fundamental level isn't even required at the beginning?

The app they are releasing will be a basic shell messaging app with some fancy Gemz designs and your own wallet that doesn't do anything. THIS is the most trivial part of the whole project and they get 750 BTC!?

Honestly, this would make Koinify lose all of its credibility as a crowdfunding platform. Milestone/Checkpoints are utterly crucial to get right if you are putting this many people at risk. Koinify can't even recognize that a shell app release is about 5% of progress in the grand scheme of things in the Gems app.

Where is the innovation? The innovation is in the airdrop algorithms and trust score management. Milestones should be weighted heavily around THESE portions of the projects, not trivial iPhone app releases that have zero functionality with the innovation at hand.

I would like more insight and answers to the thread I started about Gems here: http://www.reddit.com/r/myriadcoin/comments/2p5q4b/gems_a_new_decentralized_messaging_coin_with_tons/

Someone replied, which I like, and I think they are part of the Gems team? Either way, here is my response: http://www.reddit.com/r/myriadcoin/comments/2p5q4b/gems_a_new_decentralized_messaging_coin_with_tons/cmxfc5k

A community member has been working hard on an all-auxPoW multi-PoW coin for Myriad and many other coin communities. A lot of the "specifics" (mostly with regard to the algorithms used) are still up for debate.

We'll be launching this in a few weeks.

The project is called Unitus. The website is here: http://unitus.info/

Quote
About
Unitus = United

1. Joined into a single entity.
2. Involving the joint activity of multiple agents.

Unitus is about bringing together smaller crypto-currencies and the communities that support them into a larger group capable of greater change, influence and innovation, whilst allowing each to maintain their own unique identities.

Every aspect of this project will be driven by the community, for the community.

Here's a preview of Myriad Switcher 0.3, with the new functionality to make it work like Simplicity (mining into an Electrum walet via P2Pool) with minimal configuration.

All is needed now is to pick your mining device(s) and hit "Run". This is me mining on a single HD7950. Miners are now integrated in the app. No more popping command line windows

Pools can be added, removed or edited for each algo:

And I'm also working on an GUI editor for the different miner params (thread concurrency, work size, intensity, etc...)

Problem is I need to collect a "good enough" set of configs for each algo and GPU/CPU combination. That will probably take a while

Wonderful!

No iPhone wallet? Just use the "JSWallet" in your phone's browser instead! Super easy, super secure!

You can use -QT as deamon Smiley

To run ONE P2Pool node you need:

1. myriadcion.conf in your data directory containing:
Code:
rpcuser=someuser
rpcpassword=somepassword
daemon=1
server=1
algo=xxxx
where xxxx is one of:  sha256d, scrypt, groestl, skein, qubit.
You can get all stuff using "myriadcoind --help" or readme
After you made changes in .conf file you need close and reopen myriadoin.

2. P2Pool code (from github) or .exe (from my skydrive) started by command
Code:
run_p2pool --net yyyy
where yyyy is one of: myr_groestl,myr_qubit,myr_scrypt,myr_sha,myr_skein.
You can get more stuff from "run_p2pool --help" or readme

P2Pool is console program, so on linux run it on "screen", on windows just don`t close it window, minimize it or use some stuff to minimize to tray.

Thats all Smiley

Main problem is, it will require run multiple copy of myriadcoind along witch multiple copies of blockchain, all started on different P2P and RPC ports AND on different algos...
Using P2pool is quite simply - just add "--net myr_xxxx" to choose what network you want to run BUT your myriadcoin daemon need to be started on this algo!
It would be really cool to have separate RPC ports for each algo - this way one daemon can feed all 5 pools.

I'm sure some guys on the subreddit (reddit.com/r/myriadcoin) would enjoy the p2pool node forks you made for Windows. There's a ton of guys there who only discuss on the subreddit because they are sick of all the trolls here on bitcointalk.

As far as the Windows p2pool forks, hell, I'm even interested but I've never run a p2pool node and I never fuck with anything in any wallet consoles. I wouldn't know where to start.

Looks like Birds pools vanished Sad
I can run 3 myriad P2Pools, one for each of my machines.
ATM I have
http://p2pool-eu.gotgeeks.com:5567 an MYRQ pool 1% VPS in EU
http://rav3n.dtdns.net:5578 and SHA pool 1% my home machine in EU
I have one node in USA, any ideas what one is need to run there?

Pool code https://github.com/Rav3nPL/p2pool-myriadcoin

I'm still mining on birdonwheel's pools (sha and scrypt), and page is up here for me: http://birdspool.no-ip.org:5567/static/MyrNodeHub.html

I'm mining there still, too. On Skein.

New MyriadSwitcher version 0.2.28 released

It now tries all off the three API's I've heard of so far. If one goes down, it will check again and pick the first to return valid data.
I don't think there's more than a handful miners using the switcher at this point, but will do my best to keep it working anyway

Thank you. Myriad miners are a small legion now but with proper advertising of the switcher and the inevitable influx of support after upcoming projects are finished,  it'll be used much more. Cheers dazz !

Can you imagine a world where each house, apartment, or hut has the option to own its own Myriad miner? What if houses one day can have miners built-in to the foundation somehow? Is this realistic? What practical purposes would it help? Would it benefit the owner of the house at all?

Or should mining be delegated to a decentralized group of people who naturally tend towards the fascination that mining brings? As if it's their full-time job?

I ask this because I see two "classes" on cryptocurrency networks:

* those who have enough money and logistics to mine a blockchain for profit

* those who use the blockchain to simply transact tokens across it

Now obviously plenty of people who make good money may not choose to mine cryptocurrencies because they do not know enough or do not care. But will it be that they become obliged to?

Alternatively, what is the reality of people in lower-class societies being able to mine to make money vs. continue on with their job? This certainly helps with the current conundrum of "outsiders" having to buy bitcoin first to then buy something with it. Well, if you just mined it in the first place you can directly spend it like a normal person would. I don't think bitcoin is going to take off in the rest of the developing world for a very long time (outside of remittances) because of the extra layer of purchasing required for them to get "into" the bitcoin network that they can then transact upon.

A final question for now: What kind of practical usage of a merge-mined token or sidechain could make mining in every household a valuable experience? Could we make it so that this is actually feasible somehow? Or will mining in every household remain a pipedream because of the "stacking" ability of mining software that will keep mining in the hands of the few who were there in the beginning or can afford to jump in "late" in the game. I wonder if some type of personal household token that can be merge-mined through Myriad would be able to be used in some type of society/neighborhood setting, almost like the colored coin idea of Bryce's that never came to fruition. Each household that is mining may receive some special incentivizing token that can be used for purchasing things, keeping their house secure by using it as a smart property mechanism, or something even more novel that I cannot comprehend right now. I just think proof-of-work is such a beautiful thing that there should be some type of value it could bring to every home that chooses to mine.

Discuss!

http://myriadplatform.org/myriad-dust-cleaner/

per /u/pescotopa

I’ve been playing around with this idea for a while: to join the “dust” (small and frequent) transactions created by p2pool into bigger transactions. This is specially important for Electrum, that can’t handle a big and growing number of transactions.

Source: https://github.com/mchvs/dust-cleaner.git

With your local myriadcoind up, you can run:

Code:
./dust-cleaner.py --help
./dust-cleaner.py <destination-address>
./dust-cleaner.py <destination-address> --go

The first command gives you the command line parameters. The second shows information about the new transaction about to be created (execution in test mode), and the third one actually creates a new transactions.

This initial version works well for me, and I hope it will be useful for you too.

Plans for the future: integration (or a new tool) to easily import Electrum addresses (see https://github.com/jmcorgan/bip32utils).
