1001  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price manipulated today! proof on BTC-E check out time stamps on: August 18, 2014, 05:28:55 PM
i noticed on https://btc-e.com/ that all coins are dump at 15:30 time stamp. check each coin and see how coins bounced around. very suspicious. stolen coins perhaps? whale taking massive dump?

hope they using charmin.

very unfortunate that one person can cause this to happen, hopefully we do not see more of this type of thing for a little while

thanks.

It looks to me like a margin call on longs.

when Bitfinex dropped to 450 a few days ago there was a margin call on longs and I think the same thing is happening here on btc-e.

Historically a good time buy after longs get squeezed as sell pressure should be evaporated  Wink
1002  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC now at 3 dollars with the other altcoins. on: August 18, 2014, 05:25:30 PM
well the ltc chart looks scary. wonder if it goes below 0.0075btc and if it happens, what will be the next target?!

Next target at that point should be around 0.005-0.006...this is where I have my buy orders set

The bitcoinwisdom chart only shows part of LTC's history

0.005 LTC/BTC is where support lies if you look at a longer term chart.
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC now at 3 dollars with the other altcoins. on: August 18, 2014, 05:12:39 PM
"The time to buy is when there's blood in the streets."

I believe this statement rings true here, I'm buying more LTC with cash (not BTC) at these levels.

I'm not sure LTC can go much lower here. Even if hits $2 I will be a buyer
1004  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How 'Anonymous' is Bitcoin? on: August 18, 2014, 04:47:01 PM

We all know it's not anonymous, but curious to hear opinions from the experts around BCT.

What steps need to be taken to make it anonymous?

Your BTC transactions are fully available for anyone to see on the blockchain. It's not completely anonymous but pseudonymous..

There are new anonymous currencies being developed such as Monero - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.0
1005  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 18, 2014, 04:30:21 PM
Hopefully we break 480 on the upside here...

I see that we closed green even down to the 15 min. candle on the flashcrash, seems bullish to me
1006  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 18, 2014, 09:13:33 AM
Most 15-min volume since noon EDT on Friday, and we just hit 475.

Sell walls on BFX keep getting eaten...

This dump has no legs.
1007  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 18, 2014, 08:49:42 AM
BTW - DRK  Cheesy Cheesy (-60%)

Why is that? Altcoins are taking huge hit. Is "dumb money" getting out of the system?
DRK is useless, its anonymity is flawed.
......
Some say Monero could make it, but I'm not convinced yet.

Monero XMR will certainly "make it" moreso than DRK

ps. bears are about to get dick-punched  Cheesy

pss. yup, BTC300 walls at $480 eaten on BFX in minutes
1008  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 18, 2014, 08:09:40 AM

I think these (1: april 2013 aftermath, 2: december 2013 aftermath) are quite similar.

Now we even have the final blip down. In case of 1 this was caused by the silkroad bust, in case of 2, I don't even know. There are of course differences, too. 2 is quite a bit slower (takes longer time), for example.

Of course I'm not the first one to notice this, just wanted to remind the bulls there still is hope Wink

The SR bust only relieved sell pressure that had built up and I believe the price would have turned bearish around that point anyways.

I remember thinking before the SR crash that there was some sell pressure that needed to be relieved (although I knew we were well in place for another exponential rise in the price). I was right in this thinking, but the news was just a catalyst for this pressure to be released.

I believe the same thing is happening now without the "news"
1009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: August 18, 2014, 07:42:30 AM
XMR wallet looking thin? Huh

Fear not! We are giving away 0.4 XMR for anyone who joins our twitter campaign to cryptsy, btce etc...

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Our left shoulder has drastically less sell volume than our right shoulder, which tells me this might not be a true H&S pattern

Looks like a margin hunter to me...
1011  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Unplug Block Erupters? on: August 18, 2014, 06:02:58 AM
Is it now time to unplug my block erupters?  They don't make so much bitcoin anylonger.  Is the electricity too expensive now?  I pay .28 Euros for kW/hr.  I have 7 erupters.

I would reccomend selling your erupters for BTC ASAP

I believe we're headed for another rise in price and difficulty within the next 6 months - aka there has never been a better time to selloff your miner for Bitcoin
1012  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should I buy a bitcoin miner? on: August 18, 2014, 05:59:39 AM
No, you can buy almost 8 Bitcoins for $3,900. Hold them for the life of a Bitcoin miner and you will make more than mining.

+10000

Buying a BTC mining rig, escpecially when the price is low has historically proven to be disastrous

Mining might be a cool hobby to show your buddies, but buying and holding BTC has always been more profitable than mining
1013  Economy / Economics / Re: What are Effective Bitcoin Monitoring Tools? on: August 18, 2014, 05:38:41 AM
Be on the lookout for CDEX...

Coin Source is in the final phases of releasing a Trust Index similar to DOW or NASDAQ for altcoins

My BTC balance is a secret  Grin

But I can tell you that most of what I have has been put into altcoins,
the majority of which is Monero (XMR)
1015  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 18, 2014, 05:33:34 AM
It looks like were bouncing off of 490 nicely here, budging lower seems to be out of the question at this point.

Getting ready to pull out the rocketships this week  Grin

Jinx.... hehehehe. Not a big deal. Looked more dramatic than it was. The question is what follows next. Book is thin and this is clearly manipulation, though. As long as we don't catch the margins we'll pop right back up.

This is definitely a fearful retest of 500, but the longer we stay down here and keep testing on low volume the better...

I doubt that we get another big margin selloff after this BFX shakeout

Me too! I'm aiming for a final bottom around 0.006

1020  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coinbase has sold out of bitcoins for the day. Bullish on: August 17, 2014, 06:19:48 PM
Coinbase is a retail broker. They hold some Bitcoins as inventory, and buy or sell on an exchange to refill or dump their inventory. If they stall out, it's probably because whatever exchange they're dealing with didn't do a withdrawal fast enough.

What exchange do they use?

I'm fairly certain Coinbase uses Bitstamp
