Now Finally the Asia Cup is going to be held and will more interesting because we are looking a new team entry. I am talking about Nepal team. I don't know how it will perform but I am hoping a good performance from Nepal team. Not sure it will go to Final or not but will perform well.
And in the group B teams Sri Lanka team is looking more strong as compare to Afghanistan and Bangladesh. But we can't underestimate these two teams too.
Afghanistan is only good in T20 format, they are playing a test right now and there performance in that test is miserable. The Asia Cup is in ODI format (may be because ODI world cup is ahead) and only a genuine side can perform well in ODI fromat. It's first time I am seeing Nepal playing a major tournament along with teams like Pak and IND. It will boost there confidence for next ICC tournaments. This is not daring, but stupid IMO. On one side you have Bangladesh who refused to declare against Afghanistan despite getting a lead of over 650 runs and on the other hand we have Stokes who declared the first innings despite having a lead of less than 400. It can be termed as insulting towards the Australian batsmen. Doesn't Stokes think that the Australian batsmen are capable of scoring over 400 in a flat track? And let's not forget the fact that the English attack is being led by James Anderson who will be 41 years soon.
England forgetting that opponent is Australia and Aussies batsmen are capable of leveling 400 runs. Stokes still have 2 wickets left and he declared the innings. There was a "road alert" from Michael Vaugh yesterday and if England can score 400 runs on this track then Aussies can easily level this. England need few quick wickets on start of Day 2 in order to prove that there decision was right. |

First test of Ashes is underway in Birmingham and England are battig after they won the toss. Its been a decent start from England as they are 123/2, Zak Crawley is not out on 61 runs. Australia recently won WTC by beating India comprehensively. England are normally good on there hoem ground and it will be great test for Aussies that how they perform in England. In last Ashes, England lost 4-0 and in current ashes they have new captain. Its just start of the game, lets wait till tea to see who is on upper side.

Nepal is a very young team. Their captain (Rohit Paudel) is just 20 years old. Then there are several other players in their early 20s, such as Dipendra Singh Airee, Kushal Bhurtel, Bhim Sharki and Aasif Sheikh. Their star player Sandeep Lamichhane is just 22 years old. And then they have a few players who are still in their teens, such as Gulsan Jha, Kushal Malla and Arjun Saud. Whatever experience they gain from the two tournaments (2023 Cricket World Cup Qualifier and the 2023 Asia Cup) will be useful for them in the future.
Sandeep Lamichhane has played all major leagues like IPL, BBL and PSL. Nepal need few more players like him in squad. Asia Cup finally kicking off this year will benefit Nepal alot. Since Nepal is the only country left in this area that is not major partner of ICC. In Asia Cup they are in group along with Pakistan and India. Bangladesh finally set a target of 662 runs to Afghanistan. Which is a mountain run for any team. It can be said that Bangladesh played boy with the Afghanistan bowlers. Afghanistan were all out for 148 runs in the first innings. 662 runs will be difficult for Afghanistan. Bangladesh played a great game in the 2nd innings. I saw. Shanto scored back to back centuries. In the 1st innings, Afghanistan could not survive in front of the Bangladesh bowlers. In the 2nd innings, Afghanistan lost 2 wickets. It is now to be seen how much Afghanistan can survive in front of the Bangladeshi bowlers. It is expected that Bangladesh will beat Afghanistan by a big margin.
I was not expecting such one sided game. Really a disappointing performance from Afghanistan side. First they were all out for 146 runs in first innings and then they allowed Bangladesh to score 425 runs. In run chase of 662 two of there wickets have already gone down and skipper is retired hurt. We saw such performance from India in WTC final. The T20 is destroying the teams capacity to play test. |

Zakir Hasan got out some time back and now Bangladesh are at 202/2. They are scoring at close to 6 runs per over and currently have a lead of 438 runs. In all probability, they will make the declaration in the next 15 overs or so and ask Afghanistan to bat again with a target of ~550 runs. Afghan bowlers are looking completely out of sorts. Amir Hamza is the only one who got a wicket till now and Bangladeshi batsmen are treating all the other bowlers with absolute disdain. Najmul Hossain Shanto is inching towards his century (in the first innings he made 146).
Its lunch on Day 03 of this test match and Bangladesh now lead by 491 runs. I wonder how long will they bat or if they have a plan to break some records as still a lot of time left in this test match. Najmul Hossain Shanto is again playing a superb inning and is not out at 112 runs. Bangladesh are 255/2 and I think they should declare the innings when Najmul Hossain gets out and give him a chance to complete maybe his 200 in this innings:  146 in first innings and now not out on 112, Najmul Hossain Shanto is having one of the best test match of his life. Bangladesh lead by 491 runs now, bowling of Afghanistan is somewhat reasonable in first innings but now in second innings they are unable to pick wickets and Bangladesh batsmen are scoring runs quite easily. Like everyone else I would say that PCB has taken a good decision if their cricket board had not accepted it would have a bad impact on their cricket.Hopefully, if everything goes well, we will see a beautiful Asia Cup. And thanks to ICC for finding a solution to this problem.
There is champions trophy coming up in 2024 and Pakistan has got its hosting rights. There are unconfirmed news that India will not visit Pakistan to play that ICC tournament and that's the primary reason it will be relocated to some other country. So BCCI was not comfortable in playing in Pakistan no matter whether its ACC event or ICC but willing to host Pakistan in India. Its a win win situation for BCCI and total loss for PCB. |

In fact, India was busy with IPL T20 for a long time, so they can't prepare well with Test matches. Moreover, after batting for a long time in the T20 format, their focus became the focus of the T20 style. Because of this they lose their complete concentration in the test and they leave a sign that their concentration is distracted when they come to the end. They fell by seven wickets for just 70 runs on the fifth day, showing their focus was not on the full Test format.
Indian players are right in focusing on IPL since the return is too much. BCCI should adopt a policy where there is separate squad for Test and T20I. Moreover, there is fine on both India and Australia for maintaining slow over rate in Final of WTC. India will lose 100% of there match fee while Australia will lose 80% of there match fee. Finally, the correct decision has been made regarding the Asia Cup. So far there have been many discussions and criticisms about this Asia Cup, finally ICC BCCI and Pakistan Cricket Board have been able to reach a correct decision. If India had not agreed to tour Pakistan due to political unrest, the Asia Cup schedule would have been decided much earlier. Finally the hybrid model is going to be held in the 2023 Asia Cup. Since the World Cup is ahead, this year's Asia Cup will be held in ODI format in view of that World Cup so that these six teams can prepare well before the World Cup.
BCCI is so powerful board that no one including ICC can stand in front of him. BCCI stance was that they will not play in Pakistan in which they won. The match between Australia and India was an exciting one that showed off both sides skill. Australia performance was definitely outstanding, especially their bowlers who effectively dismantled India batting order. Their batters also showed amazing talent which greatly aided in their team victory. India on the other hand, had trouble getting going and showed deficiencies in both their bowling and batting lineups. Rohit Sharma had a lacklustre first innings but his tenacious second innings performance showed promise. India defeat may have surprised some people but it serves as a reminder of the match unpredictability and the value of a persistent effort.
It was a huge win for Australia as India was never in the game for all five days. In first innings Indian bowlers allowed Aussies to score 469 runs and in reply there batsmen just scored 296 runs giving Aussies a lead of 173 runs. I don't blame India, in fact Aussies are too good in test that they would have done same no matter who was the opponent. Indians teams just played IPL for 2 months and perhaps they are not ready for this format. Congrats to Australia for a well deserved victory. |
