The Asia Cup is basically held in the Asian continent with all the cricket playing countries.Among them are India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka.However, Nepal is one of the most popular cricket-loving countries in Asia.They are working very hard to succeed in cricket I think Asia Cup is a very important tournament for them if they do well in this tournament then surely their cricket will go far.

This time, it is a very good opportunity for Nepal. Despite the ICC and the BCCI trying their best to put obstacles in their path, they have managed to qualify for the Asia Cup as well as for the ODI World Cup qualifier. Finishing at top-2 for the ODI World Cup qualifier is going to be extremely difficult, but the experience they gain while playing against teams such as West Indies and Zimbabwe would be very useful when they face India and Pakistan during the group phase of the Asia Cup.

Till now Nepal has played a total of 51 ODIs and 57 T20Is. However, none of these 51 ODIs were played against full member nations. Their matches against West Indies and Zimbabwe during the ODI World Cup Qualifier would be the first against full-members. They have played a total of 7 T20Is against full-members (3 vs Ireland, 2 vs Zimbabwe and one each against Afghanistan and Bangladesh). Out of these 7 matches, they managed to win just one (vs Afghanistan).

Nepal have got good support from the nation and it have got able players. Surely in the long run Nepal will be a tough contender to every cricketing nation. Amidst financial issues Nepal have progressed and reached the World Cup qualifier and the Asia Cup. Nepal needs to get more opportunities to play against the full members. Nepal haven't toured out of the sub continent. Playing on different pitches against different nations will give varied experience. Most small nations were performing good. In yesterday's match it was Oman have reached 339 runs while chasing the target of 367 against Zimbabwe. This isn't simple, and more similar progress can happen in the World Cup qualifier.

At first, I thought this match was not going to be interesting because the target from Ireland after they had finished the first innings was 194. I thought the Netherlands are probably good enough to get to that total. But the Netherlands are actually under a good amount of pressure from Ireland.

Netherlands have scored 125 in 21.5 overs and they have also lost six wickets already. That is not ideal for them at all. Barresi have scored 60. O’Dowd scored 36. Other than that nobody has actually scored anything substantial to speak about. As long as Barresi is in the middle, I think the Netherlands have hope. But they cannot afford to lose any more wickets.

Nonetheless its a good news for Nepal as they will finally be seen competing with top teams of Asia.  

Nepal shown its existence and perform really well in its previous matches and now we are looking it in the Asia Cup and I hope it will show its power in the Cup too. All are top levels team and now we can say the Nepal team is also in top levels teams because now it is playing with them. And if it will perform well so it will show its name everywhere.

If you remember, Nepal qualified for the Asia Cup back in 2006 as well. But then the entire tournament was cancelled due to some dispute between the BCCI and PCB. For the next edition of the Asia Cup, the qualifiers was conducted once again rather than allowing Nepal to qualify directly. And this was the time when ICC changed their eligibility criteria, which allowed the Gulf teams to compete with first class players from India and Pakistan. As a result, the next tournament was conducted in 2008, and United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong participated in this tournament along with the 4 test nations from Asia.

Smaller teams like Nepal know what a big achievement it is to qualify for a major tournament but after they qualify, all their hard work goes in vain when the tournament is canceled due to political strife. In this season of Asia Cup as well, Nepal qualified for the Asia Cup as the sixth team but till now it was uncertain about the Asia Cup tournament because India was not willing to visit Pakistan and when Pakistan offered a hybrid model, various countries refused to play in that hybrid model. This year's Asia Cup is going to be held. This is great news for Nepal as the Asia Cup is finally going to be held after much discussion and criticism.

Asia Cup is very important for a team like Nepal. The Nepal team is not strong. And their players are inexperienced. Nepalese players will become more experienced if they play in big tournaments like Asia Cup. yes i think nepal will be after india and pakistan. nepal team players are playing very well now. but if they want to be after india and pakistan nepal team players have to play well and perform well in every match. i am now waiting for 31st august asia  Cup start. I think they always intentionally keep Ind vs Pak in the same group to ensure they play atleast 1 match with each other for sure and if things be good they might even play 2 matches as well. Being in the subcontinent I think Australia has less chances of lifting it this time and number 2, 3 are Pak and India so yes something to look forward to for sure.

Afghanistan is only good in T20 format, they are playing a test right now and there performance in that test is miserable. The Asia Cup is in ODI format (may be because ODI world cup is ahead) and only a genuine side can perform well in ODI fromat.
It's first time I am seeing Nepal playing a major tournament along with teams like Pak and IND. It will boost there confidence for next ICC tournaments. Nepal will also play a qualifying round for ODI WC.
