1001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My bitcoin journey has started again on: October 07, 2023, 01:30:25 PM
This might seems small amount to start with but if you do this consistently every week, by this time next year you should have about 0.183 Bitcoin which is around $5k using today's price. I will encourage you to keep it up because you are buying at the right time.
1002  Economy / Speculation / Re: Even Seasoned Analysts Can Get it Wrong on: October 07, 2023, 12:37:36 PM
It is up to us whether or not we believe any predictions made by other traders in this crypto area in the trading company, but you must also have a solid reason for doing so. Let's keep in mind that even if we believe that traders are specialists, they still have shortcomings. There are no ideal traders.

We make predictions because we project where we believe the value of the assets we trade will go in terms of price. Through YouTube and other channels, many people continue to claim to be trading gurus. Don't believe it if you are certain it is false or dubious. The individual in the article provided by the OP has no reason to believe the confessor.

I have lost count of how many times the supposed experts failed in their prediction. I do not hold it against them neither am I surprised because they are humans and never perfect. Besides, they use data, that changes with time, to do their analysis. Personally, I pay less attention to those predictions as my approach to Bitcoin is on a long term perspective. So even if their prediction happens and Bitcoin hits record high, I will never liquidate my entire assets.... I will always own Bitcoin and also pass it on to heirs.
So while the experts are doing what pay their bills, endeavor to accumulate as much Bitcoin as you can so you don't miss out on the next ride.
1003  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: El Salvador has become the first country to make #Bitcoin legal tender! 🇸🇻 on: October 07, 2023, 12:30:16 PM
Then, later, El Salvador declared again but not to ban Bitcoin, instead a declaration that they made Bitcoin legal tender in their country, and most of them are Bitcoin enthusiasts, and it seems that only a few are not yet aware of cryptocurrency.
I feel El Salvador have made a decision that will go down in history as a great one. On the immediate, the country will enjoy so much attention and this is good for their economy. Give them ten years from now and see the level of technological innovation that will follow this legalization of Bitcoin.

I know there will be challenges along the way such as educating their aged population as well as their children on how to safely use Bitcoin. But if they adjust their educational curriculum to integrate blockchain, then the knowledge will grow faster than expected. They can also add vocational studies for the adults, in that way, no part of the population will be isolated.

The people did not kicked about it when it was newly introduced, you may say that only few people have the idea and understanding of what bitcoin is then, those informations we heard were orchestrated against El-Savador and bitcoin adoption in general which the president refused to acknowledge, you can see more on that starting from the threats coming from the IMF then.
If you think the super powers will give up their monopoly of global financial system so easily, the joke is on you. They will use every means to discourage people from embracing anything that opposes their power and control. IMF, the media and other institutions they use will be fully deployed to spread fear and misinformation just to achieve their aim. Well, the world is getting wiser per day thanks to the internet.

1004  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What can happen next time due to a lack of proper knowledge about Bitcoin? on: October 07, 2023, 10:12:10 AM
It will be very difficult for Bitcoin to replace all the fiat currencies in terms of usage. Bitcoin is an innovation that offer some improvements to the conventional system of finance.  It was not created to completely replace fiat but offer another alternative.

Just like the Internet, Bitcoin is a revolutionary innovation that offers new ways of life... and even as widely accepted as the Internet is, not everyone in the world still have access to it yet they are surviving.

So do not allow the fear of change make you think that Bitcoin will destroy employement opportunities becaue many employements have been created through Bitcoin and many will still follow.
1005  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin accumulation at all time high on: October 07, 2023, 09:11:59 AM

https://cryptotale.org/bitcoin-whales-accumulate-71155-btc-in-6-weeks-nearing-all-time-high/

They have accumulated 71555 btc in less than 6 weeks. Is this a sign of coming bull run now ?
Anyone who have been following will understand that now is the best time to buy. So, I am not surprised seeing that many people are taking advantage of the low price of Bitcoin now. Before the end of this year, I don't think we will see the price as low as it is now. Mt.Gox refund is the only one huddle left to overcome before we see all positive news for Bitcoin.

Anyone still doubting will have to rethink because next year is filled with so much positive news for Bitcoin.
1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will institutional investors impact Bitcoin? on: October 07, 2023, 08:44:17 AM
Institutional investors can bring stability and liquidity to the Bitcoin ecosystem. They can also help to legitimize Bitcoin and make it more mainstream.what you think about this as a crypto guy ?  Wink
This is very correct.

It is only partially correct. Remember when Tesla sold 75% of its bitcoins and the market reacted downwards. The market is not that mature yet. If tomorrow a couple of major companies like Apple and Amazon announce that they are buying bitcoin and will accept them for payment, the price doubles in a week. And vice versa. If Saylor for example says it changes its mind and starts selling bitcoins we will be at levels below $20,000 in a few days.
We might actually be saying the same thing as I do not notice any difference between your narration and examples from mine. The involvement of institutional investors will bring some form of stability and liquidity in a way that one person selling will not have devastating impact on the price like we notice in the case of Tesla.

The more the institutional cashflow Bitcoin enjoys, the less the chances of price fluctuations and market manipulation.
1007  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: They know the truth but they don't want to accept it, publicly on: October 07, 2023, 07:40:05 AM
Take it or leave it, some part of me still want to make free money from gambling, even when I don't gamble every day, and while I am a very cautious gambler.

Some people are trying to hide behind the cotton, stating that they are gambling for the fun of it, I will like to ask them this question if I can get them to answer.

Is there any spirit of good will when you intentionally give your money away in order to just have a good time gambling?
No single person is gambling just for the fun, it is always for the money. Those who have this view are just trying to generate some good feelings that will water down the pain of losing. It is a psychological thing and I understand them perfectly well. Those who want to catch fun play computer games and not gamble.

The real fun of gamble comes from winning good amount of money and nothing else. Like you said before, there is no fun in giving your money away.

Because taking money away from gambling simply makes the game not worth playing.
When money is removed from gambling, many people will see it as a waste of time. In my locality,  gambling have created many jobs and have remained a source of hope for many people who are not doing well financially. Even though I don't support gambling without a steady source of income, at least it provide hope for some thereby reducing crime.
1008  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How will institutional investors impact Bitcoin? on: October 07, 2023, 07:23:42 AM
Institutional investors can bring stability and liquidity to the Bitcoin ecosystem. They can also help to legitimize Bitcoin and make it more mainstream.what you think about this as a crypto guy ?  Wink
This is very correct. Many people are scared of Bitcoin because of volatility... their fears is justified. By the time we have institutional investors getting heavily invested in Bitcoin, the liquidity will be huge such that it becomes difficult for few buys or dumps to drastically cause price fluctuations. For a coin with low liquidity, a single buy or sell of less than $1000 can alter the price significantly and this is not healthy.

So, just like you have already stated, institutional investors is good for Bitcoin and until we have more of it, mainstream adoption of Bitcoin and Bitcoin becoming a legal tender in many jurisdictions, will continue to linger.
1009  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: Try get good sense of humor, e get why on: October 07, 2023, 07:15:25 AM

1010  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Do You Guys Think About This Simple Analogy? Anything to Add or Remove? on: October 06, 2023, 05:09:16 PM
You have rightly stated it as it is, at some point in the future, Bitcoin will gain deep penetration into our daily lives such that those who do not embrace it will be like those living in the stone age. This is indeed a possibility.

The task of bringing this vision to reality requires concerted effort from all who are already informed and have embraced this amazing technology.  Together we will see this come to pass and those of us who are early will be proud of the decision and choices we made.
1011  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Much Bitcoin Address with balance today? on: October 06, 2023, 12:00:35 PM
What a break down, I never knew there is a place to know the amount of bitcoin addresses with funds inside.
The blockchain is public data. Anyone can access it.

Quote
how do you collect the data and also determined how they transacted?
See: List of all Bitcoin addresses with a balance. TL;DR:
Credits
Blockchair Database Dumps has a staggering amount of data, easily accessible (at 10 kB/s) with daily updates. All data presented in this topic comes from Blockchair.

Thank you for the head up..
I have never thought of this before this topic just opened my eyes to know this very thing today, truly I keep knowing new things everyday by day.
When I first saw the post, I was shocked and felt it was referring to something that was not feasible. But, seeing the comments and responses actually shows the level of work that has been done in Bitcoin data management and retrieval.
I truly appreciate the inputs of many guys, and I truly encourage more innovations as that is the way to truly unlock the power and beauty of this amazing technology.
1012  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What To Learn from Tinubu on: October 06, 2023, 11:49:07 AM

My Elders, uncle, brothers and sister I greet oh. I no sabi too much and this period i come dey think in the midst of wetin dey happen for Naija wetin I go learn from Tinubu. No vex, I know say somebody fit learn from bad and good. I don put few observation I make below i go like make una advice me and talk una own opinion as concern this topic.

Influnce- Tinubu get too much influence. I fit develop imy influence to a reasonable level wey my influence go dey work for me.

Craftiness- Tinubu have ability to turn and underturn tables before you realize. Is craftiness a tool I need to get for Naija?

Money- Jagaban hold money them dey call am Bullion Van but Me I no know how e get the money.

Inconsistent Data Record- So many contradiction on date of birth, age, family history etc. Me I go say e good make person get straight data record.

Jagaban get boys for street i.e Men mount oooh. E good make person get that kind structure.

This na few things. Abeg make you put mounth
By the time they succeed in institutionalizing rascality in all agencies of government, then you will realise we are sinking as a nation. E still dey sweet now for those wey support the rulling party because "first to do no dey pain". Who in Nigeria will believe that PDP will relinquish power to another party? They had everything and were so arrogant. Today, they are history and some of those people in PDP that felt too big are in prison or have gone to prison or detention.

At the moment, we are at the lowest level as a country in terms of moralty, freedom, progress and what have you. So I don't have anything to learn from people who are desperate to force themselves on the people.
1013  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Halloween inspired poll –would your Bitcoins get passed on if you suddenly died? on: October 06, 2023, 11:40:57 AM

Don't blame me if you end up screwing it up.

because I have split mine into three, but I have several places that I have put them in terms of having more than one copy of the threes, so that if the house burns down there is a back up.. so you might have a more than one set of three that are in 2 or 3 locations.. .. so that if you lose any one part, you are not screwed.

I know it is a lot of work, but you don't want to lose one of the three parts and then you are totally fucked because you don't have enough information to get at the keys.

For sure there are a few ways to screw things up by providing too much information, by not providing enough information and then also by having your keys vulnerable.. and no one knows if their house is going to burn down (for example), but if all of the keys are in the house that burns down, or even if ONLY one of the three parts of the keys is in the house that burns down, then hopefully you have a back-up of that lost key somewhere (that did not simultaneously burn down) in order to still be able to get access to your coins.
It feels good to understand you have actually done something about this. You know we have been on this issue for a while now, with several options suggested.

In our previous discussion, I never read where anyone mentioned a case of accidents such as you have mentioned here. This is actually an important consideration because a situation where one implemented one of the method suggested which is burying the details of the wallet in the room only to be broken when the time is right, we never considered the case of incidents such as fire outbreake, earthquake and others. Maybe this aspect of spliting the portfolio and keeping the keys in different places is actually good.
1014  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: October 06, 2023, 10:03:59 AM
Yes, you can still make decent money when trading the volatility of bitcoin, but it is not a safe and recommended approach if compared to DCA.
From my understanding, you are suggesting short term trading otherwise called scalping. Well, I will never recommend this to anybody as long as Bitcoin is concerned because there are high chances it will end in pain. How can you take risk with Bitcoin that can move over $2000 in few hours? To me this is outright gambling with odds already against you.
I have seen several people fail trying to do this even those using sophisticated softwares. So it is not something I will ever recommend for anyone.

It is always better we focus on what is easy and generally workable for as many people as possible. From the discussion in this thread, a lot of people are new to this entire thing so we have to guide them properly to avoid mistakes. That being said, let's focus on long term strategies that will ensure people buy and give the market a chance to yield profits.

Is never a guaranteed to make money from volatility, in as much as volatility is concerned the chances of making money is not certain, when we talk about volatility we are referring to price fluctuations moving up and down, however there are chances of you losing out your funds while trading volatility so we shouldn't always see volatility as an easy way of making money it doesn't work that way.

You can never compare DCA strategy and trading volatility because DCA is not established for day traders however it was brought to help people especially the beginners on how they can minimize risk and accumulate with the little funds they can afford.
You have said it all. Assuming he dropped that comment in the trading discussion thread, I wouldn't have objected but since we are discussing long term investment here, it is a kind of distraction. Like I said before, Let the focus be on DCA and other long term strategies.
1015  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: NASA dey plan to build houses for moon on: October 06, 2023, 08:42:42 AM
Omor my brothers make una come see tori wey I carry come board today, NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration) don dey plan for  to build houses for moon just the way we dey watch for Hollywood fiction movies but this time around dem wan bring am to reality dem say because the moon get some kind of magnetic property wey dey pool things to itself say e go make the idea dey possible, and na 3d printing dem wan use take make the building. But dem still get some thing wey dey stand as treat to building houses for the moon, dem say the dust particles for the moon dey very toxic, but for me I dey see say that one na just 10% of problem wey dem get because only oxygen for one day for this country na 25,26 thousand, before dem ho com talk about food and other things.
Anything wey get advantage go also get disadvantage... that mean say, the moon fit get good things wey go make am good to live but that one no mean say bad side no dey too. I believe say them dey study more and  weighing their options.

But that one no be watin dey make me fear, the thing wey dey make me fear na be say, all of us dey the earth and we dey see the wey the government dey handle virus wey spread across the world matter, if dem com package house for moon you no sure say dem go leave us to die finish for earth? Because the heart of men are desperately wicked l, even after the covid e get one video semina wey some Americans been dey do and dem talk say by 2023 dem go reduce the world population by 50%. Just imaging how dem wan use take achieve this dream if no be to kill those wey dey exist?
If at all say by the 2040 dem don finally build the houses dem for the moon who know the kind of virus wey dem fit release upon us?
This thing really dey scare me no be small. The way the world dey go dey get me so worried. Even though say these advancement in technology dey sweet me, one part of me dey fear make them no use these things hold us for work. As time dey go, na so endey clear say even our body no be our own... na some people get power over our own body. The coronavirus of a thing really open my eyes to see wetin dey sup. Na God go help us sha.
1016  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Secret of investing no one tells you about on: October 06, 2023, 07:16:45 AM
I think you forgot to mention emotional control. We also need to control our emotions in order not to fall into the trap of selling out in panic. I think this control of emotion helps holders a lot in the aspect of them overcoming their own fear, and when you are able to survive and don't sell your bitcoin holdings on in any form of investment that you get into, if you can survive the hard times, then there is a high possibility that you can survive a whole lot of things, which is a little step closer to achieving success.
This aspect of psychological preparation is what many people ignore. The success and failure of every business start from the mind... when the mind is not well positioned, mistakes are possible. So having the right psychology for every business is very important.

You don’t need to create multiple topic for this, I believe it’s a mistake so I advice you go ahead and delete one.

How time flies, on October 5, 2009, fourteen years ago, we have witnessed the birth of the first Bitcoin exchange, - The New Liberty Standard (NLS).

You can see the profile here for those who are curious: NewLibertyStandard.

And this is their post about it:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=15.msg111#msg111

https://www.bullionstar.com/blogs/ronan-manly/dawn-of-bitcoin-price-discovery-2009-2011-the-very-early-bitcoin-exchanges/
It was interesting reading through those threads, it shows how much we have evolved in this journey. As expected, Bitcoin critics showed up to discourage people from buying Bitcoin.

So from the initial price of $1.00 to our last all time high of $69,000. And it could be higher in the next bull run as there are predictions that we can reach as high as $100,000 bare minimum 2024-2025.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to know how high Bitcoin will go in the next bull run because a lot of factors are at play now. Unlike those early stages, the market has become highly liquid and to move the market by one pip requires so much capital. Nevertheless,  it is certain that will see some growth in coming months considering rhe series of activities lined up that are all favourable for a bullish season.
1018  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Naija no dey carry last... let's show that in our posting. on: October 05, 2023, 08:10:37 PM
Recently, I don dey observe random posting and even repeating of topic wey them don discuss before from especially our new colleagues them.
This wan you yarn here I say make I emphasize small. We don see threads like this wey dey encourage us to do our best, no loose guard and all that, so e no go make sense make you bring up something like this again. Continuous threads like this nai dey litter forum. E no mean weda the heading change form, but if the body dey hammer on the same tin you no come dey different from the people you dey try call out.

Somebody tell me say when you see threads like dis waka pass, and I bin wan do same when I notice this tin you dey do. Biko help keep this space clean and e go dey nice if you lock this thread.
Me I no really see anything wrong for the post... the OP put the post in a way to address the attention wey our local board don dey get for the forum, I no sure say anybody don post something wey emphasize that direction, if you see, no hesitate to share for me.
Make we no over flog the issue sha,  I understand wetin the OP dey try talk and that na make we no loose guard like you put am. Make we try show the world say we too get better gist for our board. Abi e no go sweet if oyibo start to learn our pidgin because of the vibes wey them see for here?
1019  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Knowledge vs hodlings on: October 05, 2023, 07:21:28 PM
The first rule of using a machine is to know how to run it. If you have no idea on how to operate the machine, then you can do nothing. The same thing applies to everything around us, including Bitcoin learning. You need to know the concept of Bitcoin, how it works, what it was made for, what are the pros and cons of Bitcoin. You need to learn every good and bad things about Bitcoin in order to really understand what bitcoin really is.
Surprisingly,  people that tend to hold Bitcoin more are those who understand it from the angle of business with little to no technical knowledge... just the basic knowledge of how to buy and store safely. If you ask them question about the technical aspect of Bitcoin, they will rarely give you a satisfactory answer. Theirs is to buy and secure their fortune because they understand how well Bitcoin will change their lives over certain period of time.

People these days only join Bitcoin for making money. They invest in Bitcoin without knowing nothing about it. They may have heard that they can make money by investing in Bitcoin and that's why they are here. Not all of them, but most of them are. And this is very bad for the Bitcoin ecosystem.
I'm tempted to disagree with you a little because the motivation for the creation of Bitcoin was digital money that will not be controlled by a singe entity. So, if people joined Bitcoin because they feel they can make money from it, then they are very much welcomed and it is good for the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Have you imagined what will become of Bitcoin if fresh money stop flowing into it? We need both the technical guys and investors to make the Bitcoin market liquid and better. We don't have to be emotional about it, without monetary gains, more than half of the people in Bitcoin will disappear.
1020  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How I heard about Bitcoin and my experience on it on: October 04, 2023, 08:18:33 PM
Your story is really a touching one, however, you can not change the past. You joined very early and obviously, you invested money that you could not afford to lose that was why you panicked and sold even at a loss.

Going forward, I hope you are doing some refining to your approach such that you only invest what will not make you unease. I suggest you learn about DCA so you can better handle the emotional aspect of investing.

Finally, I think it is not late now.... this is the best time to buy because there are several activities lined up for next year that might see Bitcoin experience som growth in price.
