For the safety part of clicking the the link sent to you by a stranger, the first thing I do when I receive such messages is to check up the account of the sender if it's hacked or not, and will also search for the test attached to the link online to ascertain if it is a common format that they've used repeatedly on unsuspecting victims. The funny thing about these guys that send all these links for hacking your account is that they are not organic with the words they use in convincing you to click the link and most times, they will just drop multiple messages to different DM and in different groups so those that can't control there sense of curiosity and the one that is looking for easy money platform will easily fall victim.

But if you want to do it the easy way, there are sites online that you can use to check if a link is safe or not. Example of those site include;

1. https://domain-reputation.whoisxmlapi.com/
2. https://www.criminalip.io/
3. https://www.urlvoid.com/
And others you can easily search up on so when you are not convince on the link you are sent to, you can check it up for it authenticity.
1003  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to keep your money in bank? on: November 05, 2023, 09:06:02 PM
The bank has been the most popular place known for the saving of funds although it has its limitations both from the angle of the management and policies from the government that affect these financial institutions

The bank provides convenience to users and although it often experiences some sort of attack on a certain occasion, you can't deny the fact that they've played a great role in fostering ease in the transaction and most banks have set out modalities that ensure that the funds of there customers are safe and secure.
1004  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Your take on buying an expensive phone like iPhone 15 on: November 05, 2023, 07:00:02 PM
Apart from some few people that buy expensive phones just to feel among others, most persons you see with expensive iPhones use them mainly for business purposes.

Most content creators don't even bother to get a special camera for their video recording because their phones can perform even more functions than the camera.

Plus you know that buying an iPhone is an asset you can decide to sell out whenever you need urgent cash for something.

If your money is enough to get one, I don't think it's a bad thing.

1006  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin help? on: November 05, 2023, 03:46:08 PM

Bitcoin offers unique opportunities for people who want to make a decent amount of money and I have the feeling that if these people start investing in Bitcoin, we will see a rapid decline in global poverty.  What do you think?
As much as I believe that investing in Bitcoin is a right step in the right direction, I still think we shouldn't hype it that much so someone doesn't misunderstand the whole thing and invest all his funds in it with the hope of getting huge return within a twinkle I am eye.

Bitcoin isn't a get-rich-quick scheme and if you can't start up a main hustle while you invest in a fraction of your reserved funds into Bitcoin and you want to focus all your life hoping that the price of bitcoin will go high and live all your life with that hope, you might get frustrated.

The best way to invest in bitcoin is to dedicate a particular amount and buy a reasonable amount of bitcoin with it, hodl it and continue with your normal hustle so that way you don't get easily moved by any fluctuation of any sort.
1007  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Financial stability on: November 05, 2023, 03:30:55 PM
In this present age and time, the most important thing is to be stable in finance.
After God and your health, the most important thing to be concerned and intentional about should be to work on your financial stability, It will save you from a whole bunch of problems. When you become a bit financially stable, you will discover that you've solved a reasonable amount of your problems and that all the major problems you attributed to external factors like relationships family sentiment lack of friends, not being noticed in public, and whatever minor thing you've taken as your problem has been solved.

As some comedians will say, if you don't have money, whatever you saying isn't correct.

1008  Economy / Economics / Re: Does Using a Credit Card Demonstrate Financial Literacy? on: November 05, 2023, 03:18:25 PM
Discipline! Discipline! Disciple! Is the number one factor here.
I know, that not using credit cards limits how frequently we make unnecessary transactions and somehow that plays a good role in increasing our saving habits but that shouldn't close the fact that it is more convenient to make transactions via your credit card and because the world has seriously evolved past the stage of going out with huge physical cash as there is a high chance of theft or chances that the money can get missing, the credit card becomes a necessity for all.

If you are disciplined enough you will be able control how frequent you make transactions using your debit card.

You can also decide to open an account for savings without collecting a debit card and have another which is for spending. Then you deposit a budgeted amount you wish to spend for the month into the account and you try not to spend more than that amount every month and that way you will be guided on how much you are to spend on a regular bases.
1009  Economy / Economics / Re: Young people needs productive mindset to be happy in life on: November 05, 2023, 07:40:35 AM
While I feel that the title of your thread hasn't done the required justice to the content of your thread, I think the main reason why we have lots of graduates lately who are unemployed or even find themselves practicing in a different field is attributed to the faulty educational system they went through. In a situation where you spent a minimum of four years studying a course that is not properly thought out and is focused more on theoretical concepts that are outdated, what do you expect of the students? And most these student don't even like the courses they are pursuing and don't even see themselves practicing it in the nearest future, once they leave the schooling environment, they shift there attention into something that will give them more financial benefit. Even most of the ones that put in additional effort to make sure they learn the course and gain the needed knowledge are not employed after graduation.

It becomes very obvious that success only awaits the person that is dedicated to his self development and that is making conscious effort to grow and become very relevant in a particular field.
1010  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Mining possibility in Nigeria on: November 05, 2023, 06:27:08 AM

Fortunately, there is a part of Nigeria where electricity is constant and free of charge, meaning people don't pay for electricity as it is supplied free of charge by the oil companies. I'm referring to Ogba/Egbama/Ndoni local government area that share boundaries with Imo State, Bayelsa State and Delta State. This is a part of Nigeria rich in oil and gas deposit and playing host to multinational oil giants like Shell, Total Energies, Agip and Adax. These companies built gas turbines that supplies electricity to their host communities as part of their cooperate social responsibilities.
I have stayed in obigbo, precisely afam where the popular afam power plant is located in rivers state and I can tell you that till date they have 24-hour power supply without paying a single dime as any sort of bills and just as you pointed out, this is because they are the host community to the power plant company. If the resource to establishing a mining company is available, I think that would have been a great location to consider since the price of electricity won't be a variable to be considered anymore.

Although I have thought about the feasibility of mining Bitcoin in that environment, I have not made any practical research regarding other factors that is needed to bring this to reality. And also considering the whole banning wahala from the side of the government, I don't know if it won't be seen as illegal if the government discover that there is a bitcoin mining farm in her country.
1011  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is the devaluation of naira really the problem on: November 05, 2023, 06:03:34 AM
Will the increase of the value of naira makes the country ore stable or except this problem is solved our will continue to devaluate?
if you observe well, once fuel price increase for the market, e de directly affect other goods immediately. The transportation people go first increase there price And then market people go join and before you know everything don top price. We know say the difference between dollar and naira done de too big and e seriously de affect goods when we de bring come from the outside country but if we really wan de truthful to ourselves we go know say apart from petroleum product when in the real sense na we de export am, we no really de import small small items when d average man de use that much from outside we country. Wetin de even vex me na the way local producers de make things expensive for the country but when de carry the same goods comot from this country them go reduce price for those people. Our problem just plenty and most of them na we de take bring am on ourselves.

We no even get much of this local companies, even the ones when de in existence done already turn the business to a monopolistic one and e de very difficult for small startup to enter into business so when these monopolistic companies decide to increase price, we no get choice that much than to just flow along with them.

I believe say no be to just focus on the problems we de face be the main thing na how to take solve am na him we suppose de reason.

Personally I think say if we put more effort into producing more of our local goods by ourselves, we no go too de depend on good from outside country and this also go reduce the price of goods for the country.
Enough emphasis too need to be placed for the agricultural sector so we fit produce more food know say na other things wey we no fit produce we go de import.

Our schools also need to change the kind of things dem de put for there curriculum. E go make sense Make we really identify wetin be our problem and make sure say we train the younger ones on how to take tackle this problem, you go see say we go begin experience serious positive change for we country

E de pain me to know say we de import things when we get the ability to produce on a very serious note. I know wan de reason go the part when we de export crude come de import petrol.

God go help us
1012  Other / Off-topic / Attracting the right things through the what we focus on. on: November 05, 2023, 05:21:07 AM
Have you noticed that the more you search on a particular kind of topic on your YouTube, Facebook, or google, the more you see more of those related topics? There is how much you will search on cryptocurrency-related topics on YouTube that all the recommended videos that will come when you navigate through YouTube will just focus on cryptocurrencies. For others who might have other interests like music, if you use their phone to access YouTube, you will find out that most of the content you will see will be music-related.

I know this is designed and programmed by the developers of those sites but it tells a lot about what goes on in our lives. If you surround yourself with positive thoughts or ideas, more positive thoughts will continue coming in and with time you will dispel every form of negative thought.

If you focus on thinking out solutions to life challenges rather than sitting back to complain and creating excuses, more solutions and ideas will fill your head and with time all the thoughts regarding the challenge that would have weighed you down will gradually become a thing of the past

1013  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / To get bitcoin meetup go be bad idea? on: November 04, 2023, 10:42:17 PM
Sometimes I go see people when de into the tech sector dem de organise event to take yarn so many matters when de sup for there field and during this programme , the younger people for the sector go take meet there snr bross and dem go organise ogbonge seminar when go help motivate the younger ones and also share best practices for the sector and e get one when I follow enter, after I come back e change so many things about me as e come motivate me to see say I need put in serious effort to take follow up the trend in the design field

I know say this local board done really try to unite us and from the way our snr bross dem de take contribute for the forum na serious motivation to us when face never show to put in more effort to ensure say wetin we de create de of high quality but as e take concern if e de necessary to get physical meetup where we go fit;
1. Building a physical community of bitcoineers so we fit talk about the trends and share ideas on the possibility of adopting bitcoin for we country
2. We fit still use am share knowledge so the younger ones for this sector fit learn and we fit also still use the medium network small.
3. Organise seminars when fit focus on global trends and also share opportunities in the bitcoin world.

I no know if this one go de reasonable for us oh, I say make I yarn am so we fit put mouth reason am together.
1014  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The common saying Health is wealth on: November 04, 2023, 09:05:45 PM
This is a very serious matter, op!
Most people focus more on their jobs and the negligence of their health. I have seen welders that will refuse to put on a new PPE because they are stingy about getting a new one forgetting that if they get injured in the process, they can't continue with the job.

Like safety people say, "Safety first, safety always" We need to take our health serious as any breakdown we experience as a result of our carelessness will result in damage not just on ourselves but also lost in the time we would have used in doing a reasonable jobs
1015  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⚽️ SPORTBETTING ADVICE ⚽️ on: November 04, 2023, 08:48:25 PM
Last update 12th OCT 2023
Updated number 2 & 3.

This is my best tips and if you wanna start gamble on sportbetting. I am no a professional gambler, but I am good enough to not lose money on sportbetting and that's good enough for me.  Smiley

1. Always do some kind of research about the game and teams you gonna bet on.
Is some important player injured? Is a team good or bad home/away? Does a team have extra hard against a specific team?

2. Don't be so greedy, settle down with low odds but not to low (read 3), no need to add a lot of games to increase the odds, make research about 1-2 games and settle down with that, place a bet and if the bet turn out into winning, do it all over again with the winnings, it will be higher chance to be a winner long term this way instead of example only place bet with example 10odd - 15odd or more in odds.
I would rather place a bet on a single game with 3 in odd with research then place a bet on four favorite's in a paralay without research.

3. Single bet or double is the way to go, sometimes a triple. But not more as paralay. It's always at least one favorite team that won't win that day and normally when we "guess" we often has wrong at least once.
(I would never go under 1.65x in odds for a single-bet, If I play a double each game can be like 1.50 odd or more, if you think a team will win big, go with for example -1.5 to increase the odds.
In the end don't place a bet because of the odds, play it because of your own research.

4. If you have hard to pick a winner in a game, even tho you made a good research don't be afraid to go and play over/under goals for the game instead, and check that out.
If it's two teams that normally do a lot of goals and the odds allow you go for over 2.5 or even 3.5... or if it two tight teams, you can go for under 2.5. (over/under 2.5 is the normal number to look after)

5. Understand the difference between home and away advance in the odds. a team that would have 1.20 odd or 1.30 odd home against the same team they play away, but away they got like 1.60 odd-1.70 odd
Can be a good bet! But don't need to be. Still research is the way to go. But it's a got hint.

6. Have patience, for example: if you place a bet 20:00 a evening and it all games is done around 00:00 and you winning, don't be greedy and place your earnings on some live game asap you don't have any information about, wait to the next day, make your research again and then place the next bet.

7. Try to "play for free" as much as possible. Example: if you make a bet and put $20 on it and you win and you win up to example $50. Then I would still continue for another round, if that also turns out as winning and I then  got $100-$150. I will cash out a part of the money and then continue, then the pressure is gone and if you lose it wont hurt as much.

8. Set up a budget, never play with money you can't afford. and when you go into gambling, always go into it with the mentality that the money is gone, then it won't hurt you if you lose and  when you lose, because we all are losing time to time, but we just need to win enough to cover the losses.

9. Sportbetting is something that should be fun and a hobby, not something that is stressful or not fun, if it turns out to stressful for you, it's better to stop and take a break.

10. Only gamble if you can afford to gamble! Gambling is not a solution to solve any economic problems, its something that should give you enjoy and be fun.

11. In the end, always make a decision that is made by you and not any other person. You can of course listen to other ideas and read other's tips, but don't take it for granted.
Your own research is always the best! Then you only have yourself to blame or praise!  Cool

12. Never bet with emotions! Try to place bet on your favourite teams as less as possible.

13. Have fun! If you don't have fun. STOP!

Now this maybe sound confusing, but it's much easier then you think, I been in the sportbetting business for many years.
Farm your way up, start low and safe as I said. Bet $20 and try to make it to $100-$150 in two different bets instead of try to make $20 to $150 in a single bet, it's to risky and much harder then the other way that you research a game and bet $20 and settle down with a 2x-3x odds I would prefer a double and then do it again, and that $20 will turn into $150 in a much easier way.
Then it's up to you how high you want to go and how much you want to spend on each bet, but this amounts is normally what I use. I normally make a cash out when I reach over $100 and then I try to go high with the remaining balance.

- This is what works for me and this is just my opinions.
- Sorry for bad English or bad writing or repeating.
- This thread can come and be edited time to time and people can feel free to share their own advices also.
- If you have any questions you can reply in the thread or PM me.

Good luck out there!

This is my own additional advice

1. Specialize on leagues and teams you you are used to: for me, If I'm doing soccer betting, I like to focus on teams I'm a bit familiar with there strength and pattern of play than relying more on research that might not give me the right view on a teams strength at the moment.

2. Don't get emotional while betting. There are some persons that get emotional when it comes to betting against a club they are supporting. Bet based on your research and on the current strength of the teams involved
1016  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why is horse racing so unpopular here and a bit of extra feedback on: November 04, 2023, 08:34:01 PM
Well, I guess it's more of what is popular in your locality and what kind of game interests you that you can make a thread on or positively air your inputs in. Soccer and gained ground in almost all  of the world and it's difficult to see a gambler that hadn't been involved in soccer reduction and gambling so it's easy to see lots of threads regarding it and it kind.

For the horse racing, I haven't really thought of it that much but I guess I should give it a try.
1017  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Fight against corruption on: November 04, 2023, 08:23:34 PM
To end corruption is not something a single individual can just decide that it is enough and then corruption will just come to an end. It has to come from a gradual process and conscious steps that are coming from the side of the leaders and the leaders before corruption can be reduced to a reasonable extent.

Even if a president has great plans and policy that is aimed at eliminating corruption, you have to understand that he can't work all my himself to make this a reality. He has to work with his governor, senator, assembly members and so many other of his board members that might be also corrupt and will do any thing possible to resist whatever change the president proposes.

We've not even considered the corruption that has eaten deep into the life of the average citizen and the religion and social organisation leaders, how can we correct or whipe away such corruption?

The fight to end corruption is a responsiblety of all although I doubt corruption can be brought to an end
1018  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: November 04, 2023, 07:57:05 PM
so many people find themselves holding on to many useless cryptocurrency because they heard or read a certain advice to bitcoin investors to hold their coins as long as they can, so they think that it is applicable to cryptocurrency in general. These people are exerting energy to keep the wrong coin, and they will surely regret their actions when they learn their mistake.
this is the reality of so many persons as they try to think that bitcoin is just like any other cryptocurrencies. And I think it might be as a result of the ban on bitcoin by government of different countries and because of this, people would want to shift into other cryptocurrencies just to be on a safer side but with the so many coin on advertised on YouTube and sent as ads when you search for bitcoin and crypto related stuff, it is very possible that so many person might have invested in so many irrelevant coin and might even hodl it hoping for a good return in the years to come.

Regardless of the differences in belief and religious affiliation, for the sake of humanity and for the sake of the so many children that have died as a result of this war it has gotten to the point we really need to call it a wrap regarding the whole war stuff.

Unfortunately, the value of our lives has been brought so low that we don't even feel sympathy for our little children who are suffering in this crisis and we have been busy supporting either of these people fighting to defend there ego.

Let's support peace rather than war and violence.
1020  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Teaching Bitcoin is not do or die on: November 04, 2023, 07:14:05 PM
I agree with you. Interest has a great role to play when it comes to how effectively one adapt into a new system and when you force someone into learning bitcoin when the person isn't even interested in bitcoin or anything crypto related, you will end up getting frustrated as the person might not put in the needed effort to get himself informed on the whole functionality of Bitcoin.

Let me use myself as an example, I had lots of friends that are into tech, most especially coding and programming, there job looks cool to me but when I try learning the stuff I discovered that it isn't my kind of stuff so I just told them not to stress themselves as I might not be able to put in the required effort that will make me a good programmer. On the other hand I had a prior knowledge on graphics and I enjoyed it while I was into the stuff. A friend introduced to UI/UX design and when I practiced it and discovered it sinked well with what I love. It took me just two physical lessons before I proceeded to learning most of the things all by myself.

What I'm trying to say is that, because you are into bitcoin and sees the future in it doesn't mean others should do same or that they will want to do same.  Of course you can educate them about it but If they don't show serious interest in it, just let it be.
