1002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anyone feel like BTC is like play money? on: June 24, 2013, 12:41:38 PM
The only difference between fiat money and play money is the law. BTC on the other hand, has at least proof-of-work behind it and is very practical.

Without the law, all pre-mined fiat currencies would be worthless at once, while BTC would not.

btc may become practical but it sure isnt right now

1010  Economy / Speculation / Re: I believe panic selling on Mt. Gox will ensue within 2 weeks on: June 24, 2013, 03:10:39 AM
I still have $0.52859 in my account, any way to get that out?

Can't buy less then .01 BTC, and im sure a bank transfer would cost more than what it's worth, any ideas?

And yes i am serious, its only $0.52859 but it's my $0.52859

Yes you can buy less than 0.01 BTC on MtGox.

Just type in 0.01BTC and buy it.

The *interface* only lets you type in 0.01BTC or more - but it will simply buy whatever you have the funds for.

I've often been left with a few cents or even fractions of a cent in Fiat, but successfully bought some satoshis with it.

worked like a charm, thanks, now if I could only do the same on btc-e, minimum withdrawal is .01
1011  Other / Politics & Society / Re: BTCBible Files FOIA Request Regarding DEA Seizure of Bitcoins on: June 24, 2013, 12:24:58 AM
Cheers to you!

So if the DEA seizes the BTC as part of a sting operation then they are ~ruling~ that BTC is money or can store wealth such as gold, silver, etc.

Is this the plan?

1013  Economy / Goods / Re: Introducing Coinverters! Plastic Bitcoin/Litecoin wallets cards! on: June 23, 2013, 11:56:14 PM
These are cool! great job, what denominations can we order on each card?

I would like to put some away for awhile for the twins, say 0.25 each? give them to them on graduation day in 8 years or so.

That's the best thing to do, to put away for young ones in the family, a few bitcents will go a long way in the future!

0.25 BTC is going to be one of the standard denominations for Bitcoin, yup!  I was thinking 0.05 / 0.1 / 0.25 / 0.5 / 1.0 BTC for now, I also put up some 0.01 BTC cards to see if there would be any takers on something that low, but it could make a nice handout for first timers.  I could make a 10,000 BTC card if you load it yourself Smiley

I'm interested, I am going to be buying some BTC via coinbase on wednesday which takes 3-5 days for ach to come through, I spent all my btc for KnC pre-orders... do you have these anywhere where I could pay with alternate means instead of waiting?

Edit: would you consider ebay?
1014  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Asic usb for cheap! on: June 23, 2013, 11:50:45 PM
OK, if you can get an answer on 1) then I would be ready to purchase, assuming friedcat's time frame is reasonable (like a week).

Thanks

Ill keep you notified, thanks for the interest

1016  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: US Asic USB Group Buy 0.99 btc on: June 23, 2013, 11:48:09 PM
I am in Australia BUT if I use a postal forwarding service from the US will you ship to that US based address?

The postal people will then forward to me...

I might consider that, but once the devices are shipped to the US address I will not be held liable for anything beyond that.
1017  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Asic usb for cheap! on: June 23, 2013, 11:35:10 PM
Interested in getting 4 of these, but as a "newb" I cannot post a reply to your primary thread yet, or PM you, so I'll ask here.

1) How long from the group ordering being placed, until friedcat ships the ASIC USBs to you (approx)?
2) What is your turn-around on shipping?  Same day, next day, etc.

Thanks.

1) unknown at this time, I will have to get back to you on this one.
2) when I get them, I will go to the UPS center across the street from my house and send them off, I do have a day job and twins though so... figure at most 48 hours from the time I get them to when they get sent out to you via 2nd day air. At least an hour or so, to PM or email everybody with their tracking numbers.
