10121  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-05-13] ‘Almost Irresponsible’ to Not Invest in Bitcoin, Says Billionaire on: May 13, 2018, 02:55:46 PM
If I'm not mistaken, the same argument was used to urge citizens in the past to back government backed bonds, or even war bonds in the times of conflict. But a lot of people ended up losing on those bonds, simply by playing responsible roles.

I think it is irresponsible to be telling people what to do. I never tell friends to invest in Bitcoin even if I believe in it. Shouldn't play on this FOMO front.
10122  Economy / Marketplace / Re: "Bitcoin mining is a Big no!" on: May 13, 2018, 08:56:27 AM
Lots have been said about Bitcoin mining... it's profitable, yes, can't argue against that, if managed well. But what's definitely obscure for me is the profitability of cloud mining sites. Almost everyone would agree from this forum that these are scams and I tend to agree.

If you want to mine, there's no choice. you've got to do it yourself. Cloud miners, legitimate or not, never show you what's actually going on with the hashpower you bought. And if you understand mining properly, there's no way you can earn fixed daily income as part of a pool. Which is what cloud mining offers. Just stay away, for the sake of your investment.
10123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: SCAMS IN CRYPTO & HOW TO RECOGNIZE THEM on: May 12, 2018, 09:10:25 PM
Helpful, nice to see someone do something like this. Merited your post. Unfortunately, all these examples won't stop the scams, and people still need to learn to practice good behavior online and understand first how to even prevent themselves from ever facing a situation where they have to check website names and identify scams.

Add the tip for Website scams to bookmark sites often used after verifying they are correct. And only access from bookmarks. Google search is such a dangerous thing I never use it for going to websites.

10124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH will reach $15,000 this year Says Reddit Co-Founder on: May 12, 2018, 07:00:52 PM
I also think that 15k dollars was a bit of exaggeration. He has overestimated Ethereum a lot or maybe he is having very high and unrealistic hopes from bitcoin. The reason why I am mentioning about bitcoin is that Ethereum depends on it for making progress. Besides, Ethereum lacks volatility or much better is today that it is very slow in gaining as well as losing value.

That's all it is out there, isn't it? Exaggeration from all the experts on both sides of the divide. We've got on the bulls side people like McAfee giving crazy predictions of millions, and on the other side of the bears we've got dinosaurs like Warren Buffet who insists that Bitcoin will burst and become zero.

Everyone exaggerates, so they can make a headline and gain fame. What else is new? Ethereum of course will gain more prominence and you'll see the same experts all lay claim to crazy prices.
10125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The Future of Dogecoin on: May 12, 2018, 06:22:49 PM
Dogecoin is shitcoin, its project is failed so do not invest in it because you will not get profit for sure. There is a lot other and better coins so really, find something better than this deadcoin
It is meant to be a fun coin and i would like to see all the gambling sites start accepting doge coin and get rid of the faucets, so if you are a new user you can have fun rolling with it and the seriously gamblers will roll or gamble with other coins and if that happens, there is a possibility that the price would rise, more over it is a good coins for new users to learn how to save their coins safe and secure, it is all possible because of its low valuation.

So strange to see so many people call Dogecoin as a shitcoin. We all knew from the start what it was, what it was meant to be, and the fact that it has done so much and still doing so well means they have a strange community willing to still invest attentions into it. That's good by any rate, better than all these other scamcoins out there asking for money to build castles in the sky.

I learnt a lot from Dogecoin, so I still find it difficult to see people thrash it.
10126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [NLG] The great Gulden thread on: May 12, 2018, 05:08:54 PM
SportNext.nl about the Partnership between the Gulden Community and FootGolf Capital Cup European Tour.

http://guldenbites.com/2018/05/10/media-sportnext-nl-about-the-partnership-between-footgolf-and-gulden/

Wow, I don't remember the last time I saw something this big. And yes, I definitely realize this is a niche sport but this is exactly the sort of community update I look forward to each time with coins like Gulden. Small steps, one at a time, and my small stash of Gulden will look like a hill soon. Good work guys, wish I knew more about footgolf but it looks a bit of fun!
10127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can ETH price increase to 1k3$ again ? on: May 12, 2018, 02:19:35 PM
It depends. NEO also has its own smart contract, ETH is not unique anymore. So if you want more profit, invest the new altcoins. Remember study before investing in any projects.

Not just NEO, even Waves introduced its own smart contract functionality very recently. So we have several platforms now with smart contracts and token enabled functions, and among them ETH is the slowest and most expensive. People will want to build dapps and tokens that are quick. Imagine playing games and doing the functions of all your ERC20 tokens now let's say they all become in demand. How will the blockchain handle the network? I paid 4 gwei gas and it took me 8 hours last week, 12 cents for a simple transaction. What if I played a game that needs hundreds of txs?
10128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Binance will REKT you if you are not careful! on: May 12, 2018, 10:03:47 AM
Any exchange will do this to you at times of spikes in demand. Which is why you should learn to trade with limit order. Set your entry prices, set your exit prices, and leave the system to auto trigger your orders when/if the market reaches the desired ranges. In fact, this also saves you on fees if you trade a lot, it all adds up in the end. And less worry and headache for you like you just experienced.

10129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Hold your keys vs money on exchanges on: May 11, 2018, 09:37:05 PM
You can guess that there really is only one answer from most responses here. Only you are responsible for your own money (that's the whole idea of Bitcoin and crypto anyway). Just I would like to add here, that simply holding your keys isn't enough. Practice responsible security online at all times. Practice careful methods, not convenient ones. Change passwords, do regular cleaning and checking up on your devices. This is money we're talking about, not just some key to an email.
10130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Hold your keys vs money on exchanges on: May 11, 2018, 06:44:28 PM
What you're not saying is complete. The full recommendation is, not to hold or store your funds on anything but your own fully controlled wallet. Of course if you're using those funds for trading or investment, then you've no choice. But now with decentralized exchanges you can soon still easily trade from your wallet. Waves DEX is one such example.

Besides, transferring a coin to an exchange takes minutes. No fuss.
10131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Manager Level = Campaign Successfully? on: May 11, 2018, 04:35:39 PM
ICO raised = bounty success.
there are more campaigns inside a bounty.
and those will be paid once soft cap reached.
who ever the manager is, as long as soft cap not reach. it will be a failed bounty.

I'd have to really agree here. Managers should be judged on levels of satisfaction from the participants, timeliness, ability to exercise fair judgment, etc. I really don't think ICO success in terms of money raised should ever be used to judge manager competency. There might look like a correlation, but trust me, if projects fail, it doesn't matter how good the manager is or how reputable. They can scam and take off and the manager can't do anything about it.

Besides, just because an ICO raised hard cap doesn't mean it's not a scam.
10132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum, Ripple or Litecoin? on: May 11, 2018, 01:58:10 PM
What is the best choice regarding investing in these coins? Lately I have sold my Ethereum and now I am waiting for the right moment to buy them again, but shall I also buy Ripple and Litecoin?
Better buy  Ethereum and Litecoin but not Ripple. Ripple will rip your heart like what they did on their previous investors who caught up in FUD. They will never Pump it up unless they already buy back those who sell at a loss. Never ever trust bankers with your money, look at what they did on banking industry today.

I don't even know how anyone can reason having Ripple in the same categories as Litecoin. We have a pure currency alt and a pure smart contract dapp alt in Litecoin and Ethereum respectively. And we have some shady corporation coin called Ripple whose founders secretly stash, lock and release tokens at will, and then expect people to get their value up because of all their banking partnerships. Ripple execs are all over the world too, giving conferences and shaming the crypto industry. Litecoin is my choice, Ethereum for profits, Ripple... I stay away.
10133  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Franchise of a crypto-currency bank on: May 11, 2018, 08:24:19 AM
Everyone becomes their own bank? I don't know, we all came to Bitcoin to escape the unfair practices of banks. And then now we're thinking to loan out our Bitcoin and charge interest for it. All is fair in finance of course, I know this. But interest bearing models are the bane of sustainability. Should we not take a few lessons and learn it for the good of years to come? We are creating services, taking advantage of demand. But I can't help feeling like we are heading down the same old paths of banks if we do this.
10134  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE - 🎲🎲🎲 Treasure Chest Is Back! 🎰🎰🎰 on: May 11, 2018, 07:18:30 AM
That really is some swerving elf, I don't know if I could ever make those types of bets in such a short time, even if I did have all the bitcoin in the world. Imagine putting down 10 grand on a casino and just rolling dice and like, again, again, again. I bet even high rollers in the big casinos don't wager that kind of volume so easily. Makes my heart flutter just to think of it. Wonder if all these crypto gambler whales ever splash out in big casinos, just for fun, since the edges there are crap.
10135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [SRN] SIRIN LABS Token - Speculation & News on: May 10, 2018, 12:10:10 PM
This was one of the projects I missed out on actually, but not because I delayed my participation but because I simply didn't have any funds to commit. I still don't have enough to get anything significant now, but if it dips again I might consider a very small holding. I admit, Messi getting linked to Sirin caught my attention, but it was really their blockchain phone that I'm curious about. They should have a lot of success, and token prices should go up next year when the phone prototype comes out.
10136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: 🐮 BountyCow.com — Run Bounties or Complete Bounties 🐮 on: May 10, 2018, 10:58:36 AM
Good catch on noticing the links with Belacoin. Are you and BountyCow related to Japanese markets and audiences? What we need is not another bountyhive, but someone else to introduce new innovations to bounty management. I believe guys like Amazix are trying this out in their own way, taking bounty management to different levels. Makes their job more complicated and more open to criticism, but if you think about it, that's kind of what is needed now with all the scams happening with bounties.
10137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why buy WAVES? on: May 10, 2018, 07:20:59 AM
I've always added a little bit of Waves every time it went below $4 (or satoshi wise equivalent) and have been very happy with it even though I never sold at $10 or more. Even today at $5 or so, I still add a little every time I can. This, along with Litecoin and Stratis are some of my more recent "always add". The dips have been more opportunity. Time will surely see these coins gain traction, and use. Smart contracts have already arrived, people will take time to use and acknowledge. But the future is bright as it always has been.
10138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do advisors really matter? on: May 09, 2018, 07:44:03 PM
Advisory is always good for start ups, but the way they are being used in crypto ICOs are very different, they're more like marketing tactics. I mean, if you have 1 angel investor advising 10 or more projects, do you really think they're in it for long? They take their fee and move on. I remember Vitalik was supposedly advisor to Humaniq when they launched but now more than a year has gone and never hear a word from him about it and the project is going so far away from original hype.
10139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: "Unfortunately, we did not reach our SoftCap" on: May 09, 2018, 04:54:38 PM
Must be a coincidence or something, I'm just now reading also that two projects (both same founders though) are cancelling/reducing all their tokens because they couldn't reach their caps too. I know this isn't the first time that ICOs fail to reach targets, but these were projects that supposedly already received a lot of private funding and just need to expand. Now they're cancelling everything, it seems like they could have lied about having enough to build a MVP.

P.S. Don't blame the bounty managers here!
10140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Just RELAX, it will be OK! on: May 09, 2018, 02:51:37 PM
The G20 meeting really scare a hell out of many new people in cryptocurrency! Many scared investors also screw any trade that would been very profitable. Fear can do a lots of damage.

What news were you reading? The G20 outcomes weren't negative at all, and in fact was probably quite positive. Regulations doesn't scare people, it makes them feel more secure. If governments talk about it, it means they see it as something to be concerned about and are looking at it at a light of legitimization. Don't buy into the nonsense fear of regulations. This is good news, even Bill Gates believes so.
