10141  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ETC] Ethereum Classic: Immutable Smart Contracts on: January 27, 2017, 01:38:14 AM
How large is the ETC blockchain right now and how much larger does it grow on a month by month basis? I would like to invest in this long term but I fear that the blockchain size might the ETC's biggest limitation to making it scalable.

On the topic of monetary policy, is capping of the total no. of coins mined implemented already?
Thats a very good question the block chain for ETC and ETH is so big its a pain in the ass to use a real wallet and what's ETH going to do when pos kicks in because myself and most ppl cant get the mist wallet to sync especially on windows

Both Ethereum classic and Ethereum fork do not have the critical mass of users that bitcoin has yet but both networks have blockchains that are so large it would be hard for it to become decentralized. How much does it cost to run an Ethereum node these days?

10143  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: January 26, 2017, 01:41:03 AM
I can't believe people still think this thing is going to happen...

Connor is under a UFC contract, and Mayweather isn't going to fight unless it's under his promotional terms, which Dana White could never hope to match. That should be the end of the story right there.

Yeah you're right. And i don't think either one of these guys would agree to fight in pure boxing or mma. Both have heavy advantage in their respective sport and i don't think neither would want to plays the other's game. So this is a fantasy match up that we most likely would only see in video games

At present the possibility of these 2 fighting is very very slim. But Floyd and Conor are both hustlers. They are all in it to create an opportunity for them to make big money in the future. This fight could happen when both Floyd and Conor think it is time. The timing has to be right and of course the amount written in the pay check should also be right.
10144  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AMP] Synereo Speculation on: January 26, 2017, 01:08:52 AM
I thought about buying good amount of AMP because it could be undervalued right now. After doing a little reasearch on it I found out that their Rchain and Special K technology does not really work. Their whole ICO that raised a lot of bitcoins was based on the premise that Rchain will be more advanced than the blockchains we have now. If that is not working what will they use now?
10145  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP as currency on: January 26, 2017, 01:01:29 AM
@God27. What incentive programs are you talking about? If Ripple plans to give away XRP to the institutions who want to use it then that would be counterintuitive. If those institutions believe in the technology then they should have been lining up to buy XRP to have a stake in the network. What really happened was a few banks tested Ripple but nothing. Maybe there were not impressed with what they saw.
10146  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AMP - The Currency That Powers Your Attention On Synereo on: January 26, 2017, 12:51:30 AM
I did a little reading about Synereo and the issue about Greg Meredith leaving the project. I learned that Greg started Rchain and Special K that everyone was excited about because the technology is more advance than the blockchains that we have now. I also learned that Rchain and Special K was precisely the reason why Synereo has raised millions in funding. On what technology will Synereo run now that Rchain and Special K is out of the picture?

Synereo LTD still owns all the RChain IP and is actively developing it.  Greg was a developer working on RChain and was fired.  Greg cannot take Synereo LTD IP and form a new company around it.  Synereo LTD is still actively pursing the development of advanced blockchain solutions utilizing the RChain IP and other technologies.  The previous roadmap of waiting for RChain deployment to run the social network has been scrapped.  A new roadmap has been issued which has an accelerated deployment schedule.  The attention economy will go live on existing social networks which will enable testing and user procurement.  This is deemed the "Alpha".  A new blockchain tech will be developed simultaneously which will allow the attention economy to transition over to a fully decentralized social network after testing on existing social networks.  AMPs will be utilized during the Alpha phase.

I found the new roadmap and I found it to be a little vague. There were no dates and it looked like it was made for the purpose of appeasing the AMP holders. I also found out that the Synereo CEO expected Greg Meredith to already have a working product of his Rchain and Special K which I think he himself invented. Later it was found out that Greg does not have a working product.

Maybe Rchain needs more work and more time so an accelerated deployment schedule would be impossible unless they release a centralized database instead.
10147  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Motosport General discussion tread --- Formula1, MotoGP, WTCC, ETCC, DTM..... on: January 25, 2017, 12:56:17 AM
Bernie Ecclestone (86 years old) leaves the circus of F1 after 40 years (1976-2016)!
The Liberty Media acquired 100% of the shares of the Formula One Group for 7,5 billion euro, removing from his throne
B. Ecclestone.
In its place there will be Chase Carey helped by Ross Brawn (ex Ferrari and Mercedes).
We'll see if this change will bring good news on f1

It is good to see Ross Brawn back as motorsport managing director. I hope the restructuring of the sport will bring renewed interest and a more competitive and level platform for Formula 1 teams to work with. We have heard a lot of complaints from fans and casual watchers alike that the sport has become really boring. I hope this time it changes under Ross Brawn's guidance.

10149  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC on FOX 23: Shevchenko vs. Pena Prediction and Info Thread on: January 25, 2017, 12:41:13 AM
@deadsilent. If you do not know the fighters in the main event then why do you have a good prediction? It is like you really know them but do not have the confidence to declare your pick and at what method Juliana Peņa will win. I would make the same bet but the safer bet would be Juliana inside the distance.
10150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero Lightweight Wallet on: January 25, 2017, 12:38:03 AM
How big is monero's blockchain right now, anyway?

From what I know it is very hard to create SPV wallets for monero because secure design of this coin is hard to transfer to SPV environment.
There is technical difficulties to keep your privacy on the level of full node wallet. If you are Monero user then the best option is still using Monero Core.

That will hamper the growth of its user base, if 3rd party developers have a hard time creating an SPV wallet for Monero. Maybe that is the reason why the Jaxx wallet was not able to add XMR in a timely manner. I hope they are still working on it now.
10151  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero Lightweight Wallet on: January 24, 2017, 01:48:06 AM
There were rumors late last year that jaxx.io wallet will add Monero in their list of accepted cryptocoins. A third party light wallet would be a good sign for the project because it is a sign that it is recognized. So far there are no updates but hopefully the jax.io developers are still working on it.
10152  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC on FOX 23: Shevchenko vs. Pena Prediction and Info Thread on: January 24, 2017, 01:39:50 AM
@Lucas. Do not count Juliana Peņa out. While I agree with you that Valentina Shevchenko could win because she has good take down defense, I am afraid Juliana will give it her all and be relentless in her assaults. She will take Valentina down and when she does that is where her opponent's problems will start. Valentina is weak on the ground.
10153  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: January 24, 2017, 01:31:42 AM
Mayweather versus Pacquiao was a disgrace and a big disappointment. All the teasing and all the hype came to what? Nothing but 2 fighters not really trying to win the fight. They did not deserve the money given to them. That fight was one of the reasons why fans have lost their faith on boxing as a sport. It is all about the money over there and the spirit of the sport is gone.

Boxing's loss is MMA's gain.
I saw it in facebook, if mayweather will refuse the on the fight, Manny Pacquiao is willing to fight  McGregor, I think this would be a great fight than Mayweather. They are both aggressive and we will surely get what our money's worth. What is your take on this guys?

I would go for Pacman, he likes to shut down a shit talking opponent. (Exemption was on Mayweather because he runs like a chicken) Grin

That fight I would unquestionably pay for to see. Conor versus Floyd will be boring but Conor versus Manny Pacquaio? That will be action packed and I do not think the Irishman will be able to move because Manny is faster and stronger.
10154  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Some Truth About Bookmakers on: January 24, 2017, 01:15:35 AM
@ajaxmoor. What frustration? The frustration is on the consumer themselves because they will now have to pay higher fees and play with worse odds than before. When this regulation starts bitcoin sportsbooks and casinos should take advantage of the situation and show that they are a cheaper and better option for all gamblers who want to play online.
10155  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AMP - The Currency That Powers Your Attention On Synereo on: January 24, 2017, 01:04:26 AM
What happened to this project? All I see in this thread is now chaos and this is far from the usual optimistic view I have seen from the followers of Synereo. I thought the technology being created here was far more advanced than what we have seen. Now Synereo's own followers are crying vaporware. What is the whole story? Please give me links so I can get updated.

TLDR...

One developer failed to deliver on his roadmap.  The developer was fired.  A new team has been assembled.  The new roadmap is better than before.  Project is super undervalued from a bunch of morons panic selling.

Ok I heard one of the founders left because he wanted more money. I am not sure what is true anymore because their reddit is a mess and has been very chaotic during the time the issue came about. The developer who left was he the one working and helping with Ethereum's Casper POS?

This will be good for sportsbooks that deal and transact with bitcoins. They operate outside the law and will not be subject to the fees and levies the government try to squeeze from the industry. Maybe a good strategy for bitcoin sportsbooks is to start offering better odds than the best fiat sportsbooks.
10158  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any place to gamble IF the Mayweather vs McGregor fight will happen? on: January 23, 2017, 01:42:50 AM
@thejaytiesto. Just like how Floyd beat Manny Pacquaio? Was his win convincing enough for you? The casual fans were smart to boo that fight. The felt cheated out of their hard earned money. Now that you have mentioned it, this fight will be a win-win for Conor. If he wins he will make Floyd look like a wimp of he loses he will make Floyd look like a bigger wimp.
10159  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 208: Holm vs De Randamie Info and Prediction Thread on: January 23, 2017, 01:26:45 AM
@eaLiTy. Whatever the odds I will bet for the one that will pay out more. Maybe the reason why the sportsbooks opened the betting with odds close to 50-50 is because they might be thinking that the fight is unpredictable. I will expect the odds to change as we get closer to the day of the fight. Who do you think the underdog will be?
10160  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC 209: Woodley vs Thompson Info and Prediction Thread on: January 23, 2017, 01:22:43 AM
@Clement Kaliyar. Eddie Alvarez was never considered a fighter in the level of the guy he beat, Rafael dos Anjos. I was surprised Eddie knocked him out easily in that match. Many people would say that Rafael dos Anjos would give Conor a harder time than what Eddie did. Too bad Rafael has moved on to welterweight. Him versus Conor would have been a good fight.
