Actually, this is why you shouldn't vote Hilary:

Well, she seems to say she supports the right to own firearms so everything depends on her actual nuances. For example, if a problem developed with actual assault weapons, at least my definition of assault weapons, then I would be for further restrictions on them. I'm not so sure it makes sense to keep some fully automatic weapons or SAM launchers, or bazookas in metropolitan areas. But I don't see it as worth dealing with until an actual problem develops.

The government can take my RPGs when they pry them from my cold dead hands.

What a terrible infringement to have a back ground check when buying a handgun. I mean the world is clearly ending.
I don't see background checks  as much of an issue. The only thing that bothers me is registration of the real issue is hand guns and carrying them. When I look at the difference is lost between the US, and say Canada, the biggest difference seems to be carrying concealed or open carry handguns.

So we have the evil US starting war wherever it wants , trashing both iraq and afghanistan in weeks but the saudi are to powerful to touch?

Yes. The US can invade less powerful nations such as Iraq and Afghanistan. But definitely not Saudi Arabia. If they do that, then crude oil prices will hit $500 a barrel and Obama will have to sell even his underwear to buy oil.

IMAO president will have to sell his kids and wife also before he can afford those kind of oil prices.
1023  Other / Politics & Society / Re: our USA education system sucks and is obsolete on: May 10, 2014, 03:17:48 PM
The future of education will all be online.

Sure kids might go some place with teachers assistants or a type of "babysitter" for a few hours to work on their online assignments, but it will still all be done online.

Florida already offers a full, free curriculum online where you can get full credit including a high school diploma.

The teacher's union is unionizing teachers right out of a job.

On a side note regarding "education paradigms", most of college, and much of grad school could easily be done online. I haven't gone to a single lecture after like 4 months of starting, since I can get everything online and there are better teachers out there than what most schools offer (Khan Academy etc).

But with the huge demand for country club campuses and government guaranteeing loans (even if you pursue something like art history), tuition will never stop increasing.
Right now there's a proposal in California to have the state pay for STEM fields tuition. The student pays it back in the form of an income tax after graduation. The proposal is limited to STEM fields because "he doesn’t want a bunch of lazy arts students taking advantage of free tuition and paying back almost nothing from their negligible future salaries."
It's hysterical that he actually said that, mostly because he's right and that's so rare for politicians

No he isn't.
Long term education decisions shouldn't always be driven by the market.
Often times the market is shortsighted and we undervalue many forms of education and art

The whole idea of university and scholarly pursuit should have at least some degree of independence both from political pressure and economics.

Some of the greatest advancements to human thought and philosophy have come from those deemed less valuable by the markets of their respective time.

We should be encouraging STEM studies. I'm not saying I'm against you going for an English or liberal arts degree, it's just I believe if were going to help someone get an education it should be in science, technology or math, so they could possibly use it in the future for something other than making sure the drive-through orders are correct.

The intended age demographic of this game is likely younger than the age at which a full awareness of sexual orientation and preference develops. Therefore, I do not believe it is harmful (and certainly not hateful) to program a video game to primarily contain heterosexual relationships.
I highly doubt there is enough realism to the game to necessitate nuanced lessons of morality and diversity, as the primary goal is entertainment.

I never realized how easy my life was, until now. I also never realized how crappy the USA is, until now. What a great video that brings people together.
1028  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Armed Feds Prepare For Showdown With Nevada Cattle Rancher on: May 10, 2014, 09:51:50 AM
A Ruby Ridge-style standoff is brewing in Nevada, where dozens of armed federal agents are closing in on cattle rancher Cliven Bundy over claims that Bundy has allowed his cows to graze illegally on government land, endangering a protected species of tortoise.

Vowing to take a stand for, “your liberty and freedom,” Bundy says he is prepared to be killed as authorities surround a 600,000 acre section of public land as a result of Bundy violating a 1993 Bureau of Land Management ruling which changed grazing rights in order to protect the endangered desert tortoise.

“With all these rangers and all this force that is out here, they are only after one man right now. They are after Cliven Bundy. Whether they want to incarcerate me or whether they want to shoot me in the back, they are after me. But that is not all that is at stake here. Your liberty and freedom is at stake,” Bundy said.

Bundy’s refusal to recognize federal authority over the land under dispute and his failure to pay tens of thousands of dollars in grazing fees stems from his assertion that his family’s history trumps bureaucracy.

“My forefathers have been up and down the Virgin Valley ever since 1877. All these rights I claim have been created through pre-emptive rights and beneficial use of the forage and water. I have been here longer. My rights are before the BLM even existed,” Bundy said.

I hope they do not kill him...

People are asking why the fed gov doesn't just put a lien on his cattle and assets instead of doing the swat raid bullshit which is what would normally happen.
Reason is now coming out. Since the feds failed to act in a timely manner after 1993, Bundy is likely covered under something called "Prescriptive Rights".
In other words, it's like squatter's rights. He has been using the land for enough time without incident by the feds that he now has rights to the land after all and BLM knows it.

This is a very odd situation. But it does remind us no matter how much money you make, or how famous you are, racism still exists.

This guy is a classic sociopath....its everybody's fault but his....all the witnesses must be lying or mistaken (including the security guard who spoke to him after the shooting and was told 'everything is fine')....or his Lawyer has not advised him properly or the Police have tampered with evidence.....and if none of the above work lets resort to bursting into tears......I just hope the Judge see's through it all..
1032  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin transaction volume dropping on: May 10, 2014, 09:24:17 AM
The lack of interest comes from short term buyers who jump on the bandwagon as soon as something becomes popular, yet they have no understanding of it whatsoever. When the bandwagon slows down, they get off and are disappointed that it didn't take them to heaven.
1033  Economy / Economics / Re: China Banning BTC. Any thoughts for the soul especially the mind? on: May 10, 2014, 09:16:53 AM
Worldwide, Bitcoiners respond to this foreign financial 'news' by panic selling at low prices.
While in China, investors respond by buying lots of cheap BTC.
And so it goes, and so it goes.
1034  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The porn actress/actor will embrass Bitcoin ... because of the banks ! on: May 10, 2014, 09:13:20 AM
I could say that they absolutely have the right to cancel any account for any reason because they are a private company. But since the federal govt either runs the banking industry outright or by onerous regulations, it’s not such an easy thing to say.
1035  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The homeless child experiment on: May 10, 2014, 09:06:34 AM
I agree it is sad how we can ignore a human being just because they are different then the standards of society god bless them. and i hope we can help each other .
Indeed...we should not hesitate to help one of our own. Personally i think other countries should take care of their own themselves, though. America isn't really in the position to be playing big brother with every other country. but at the very least, we should always try to help a fellow American.
1036  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Woman Celebrates Her “Cool” Abortion on YouTube on: May 10, 2014, 08:55:29 AM
I am not going to judge any woman that chooses to do this. I do strongly judge women that celebrate the misfortune of ending a life. Sick.
Exactly. I know people who have gone through this. Most regretted it. But even the ones who don't regret it never went this far. To encourage people to do this? To celebrate it? I used to believe abortion was OK until I grew older and I saw the regrets of my friends who did it. Sad....But holy frigging sh-t I never saw people celebrating abortion like this....Its so bizarre....we've gone over the cliff...

1038  Other / Off-topic / Re: What's your favourite holiday destination & why? on: May 10, 2014, 08:45:49 AM
My fav is the USA - it has some amazing scenery. It's my aim to visit each of the 50 states.
I'm not a big traveler. However, holidays are always nice for me as a teacher, because it means I have the flexibility to get in some much-needed time to hang out with friends.
