hello

I am committed to this concurrency. it is the very first i got involved with ever. I had just heard about bitcoin about 6 months earlier or so. so to me, it was instamined heavily... just kidding about the instamine allegations.
1. i have a bunch of old computers. about 6 of them. hash is about 24 on a pentium core 2 duo. the chances of me finding a block on these is very low but they are all solomining to secure the network.... woot woot.
2. I am a physician very new to crypto as per above. would like to advertise that I accept monero. at this time will likely due wallet to wallet transfer at point of care. can anyone help me do this more securely or better. at this time, given currency volatility will accept 150 moneros per office visit.
-my office visit is currently at 200 dollars per visit. (will be increasing to 400 once I move to dallas and will adjust monero accordingly)

How do you know or make sure an alias is made

And to be clear, you can only have an alias created by a miner where you issued the make_alias command AND that miner then must find a block. If it doesn't, then it won't get created.

so my miner has foumd 2 blocks since launch. does the alias need to be made before the block is fpund or after. i cannot find my alias

If you posted in the rename contest, please PM your address to me. Since was decided to keep the name Boolberry, we are going to split the bounty among all that entered.

Hello,

I was waiting for more responses. I will post a reminder in the name thread and distribute the prizes tomorrow.

Im going to be straight up. That logo is absurd.

Great software, great devs. Cant fault that. Marketing is below standard. That logo needs to go. I would like to know what respectable, profit driven pr/marketing firm would endorse such a thing. That is the furtherest image from professional and trustworthy. Truly, I have seen scamcoins produce better. Great marketing comes with a price tag and doesn't come from a basement. Start a donation thread for marketing campaign/development and award the contract to a first class business- That is something I would support.

There seems to be this ridiculous notion in crypto that marketing is the last step or it is of no importance until the "code" is perfect.

You may have the best product in crypto but without marketing, nobody cares. There is a small percentage that have identified the potential but not nearly enough to sustain emission growth. Until your product is portrayed in its proper light people cannot relate.

Investors indirectly secure your blockchain. Without us there is no miner incentive.

There is a bright future for the coin if it can secure market share as the dominant "anon' coin. Take your time and someone will fork cryptonote to make the hottest coin of 2014 (prob some X11 derivative. When X11 is old, they will just hard fork it). Without a doubt some noob is already working on this.

I have no problem with forks. Thats the nature of open source. If your not doing it well, somebody will come along and do it better.

I was in mexico last year, and I saw dollar being marketed every where. I saw this in canada too. The dollar is markted everywhere. you are right, a currency to be dominant needs to be markted first. the country that backs it is of little to no significance.

Sorry I dont get it, does it mean even I mine with a very small hashrate, I can get coins everyday?

Yes, that's exactly why people like pools. instead of waiting perhaps 5 days of CPU stressing for a chance of finding a block, you will receive regular small payments.

i understand peoples' want for immediate gratification. but if decentralization is key and important for cryptocurrenciees, shouldn't brain function supersede emotional needs.
1. 5 days full block is better than little payments at this stage.
2. no centralization issues. one pool getting control.

is not number 2 extremely important.

When we can have a pool?

if decentralization is important, why is a pool necessary?
1030  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO]MANDATORY UPGRADE!Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: June 02, 2014, 01:38:48 PM
this is not the right thread most likely. But is there a walk through on how to set up a pool. I have a server and stable internet and would like to direct it to pool set up. I do not know much about severs or pools.
a valid concern would be:  these are other peoples money and must be kept safe and secure. I agree with this and would not expose someone to risk unless I felt comfortable in the end after learning about it and learning about server maintenance. if it is daunting and more like a neurosurgeon building a rocket ship then most likely I will not dabble in this.

Unless you setup and secure severs for a living I wouldn't try this. The hackers will rip you apart and steal your and everyone's coins. It has happened more than once in they year I have been here. Entire exchanges robbed..

well. it is behind a firewall in a medicl practice. the server has the hippa requirements for patient information security. I do not know if that means anything. the server itself does not have patient records, because the patient files have been cleared from the server. the server has the legacy firewals and security from when it was used a a patient database.

I do not know how secure this is and what is necesary but i am willing to learn.

this is the most funniest price I have ever seen on a project

is it THAT profitable to mine?

That's the funniest fud. Do you have a point in leaving the Darkcoin thread

Why do some cryptocurrencies  need a conf file and monero does not.

If ducknote is a cryptonote coin why does it need a conf file while monero does not

What conf file? I have ducknote installed and I don't see any conf file.

On their website they give an example oh conf file.

I am on phone. Can't link it now.

I don't see it, can you be more specific about where it is.

Wow. I can't find it anymore. I saw it yesterday

Monero supports conf files...but its not needed.
Would this explain the orphan rate.

Remember guys the future battle isn't between some scam coin (XC, Dark) or even a real coin like Litecoin, but the battle will be between the great four (as I have came to call them).

Bitcoin.
Ethereum.
Nxt.
Monero.

I'm still on the lookout for anything else to add to this list.

Oh, I forgot that the internet only has 4 players. It must be the "network effect".

This is no longer a serious discussion...
When Google, Amazon, Apple, the banks start to play Crypto Currency for real...
Nothing coming out of BitcoinTalk will matter.

strong statement. for comparison i think chinese communism started in a shed. apple started in a garage and dell started in a dorm room.

So this is CPU only for mining ? I was trying to find out from OP but ... would appreciate a non troll response Smiley

yes

Hm, any idea if the dev will make it also available for GPU mining ?
And another question ... how the hell do i get the wallet running Smiley
All i get is :

2014-May-30 17:57:59.517050 Boolberry wallet v0.1.1.9(a0da0f5)
2014-May-30 17:57:59.518050 Error: you must specify --wallet-file or --generate-new-wallet params
2014-May-30 17:57:59.521050 ERROR ..\..\src\simplewallet\simplewallet.cpp:969[main]Failed to initialize wallet

Much of this is in op.
CryptoNote coins supposed to be cpu only.
GENERATE your wallet
Simplewallet.exe --generate-new-wallet=wallet.bin

Call wallet
Simplewallet.exe --wallet-file=wallet.bin

hello

i have been mining to a wallet using bitmonerod. following is how I initiated using a bat file. this is on an i3.

old bat file: cd C:\Users\billing\Desktop\monero
                bitmonerod.exe --start-mining  425PDBdQyXuHRypExn9HKYj83vEkPFewG7Ez1m7n1GkAQcZFaSUETsZWYLVQTwNDssC2Nn7z2PeAwE8 AWAGbNeq9HVeSYWo --mining-thread 3
new bat:    bitmonerod.exe --start-mining 425PDBdQyXuHRypExn9HKYj83vEkPFewG7Ez1m7n1GkAQcZFaSUETsZWYLVQTwNDssC2Nn7z2PeAwE8 AWAGbNeq9HVeSYWo --mining-thread 3

it starts ok and mines. I get no errors, but I noticed that i have an extra space after the word mining. is this a problem. did I potentially lose some coins to the ether.  above is the old bat file, and what I just changed to. thanks for the input
