1021  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Carefulness of bitcoin transaction to avoid permanent loss. on: January 06, 2024, 10:09:30 PM
Then I still have another question on this advice. Has any effort been made to produce a software that could retrieve a lost bitcoin?

So shear you thought on this.
I don't really think it's possible to reverse any Bitcoin transaction. That is where this phrase comes in "Not your keys, Not your coin". If you have access to wallet there is absolutely no way to retrieve any coin in it.

In the aspect of software, I haven't heard or seen any software promising to reverse a sent transaction. Except for scammers promising to help you retrieve your lost bitcoin on payment in order to scam you.
1022  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Using QR codes as Bitcoin address protection on: January 06, 2024, 08:09:14 PM
I'm aware of the above mentioned negative effect of this action or that it could be hacked and changed which is why i said this below.
Although there could be some negative effect of this action but at least it's a good ideal from my perspective.

In summary, it provides no extra security, introduces more complexity, and is worse privacy-wise.
I curious to know does this also have a negative effect on quick response codes generated by exchanges. I mean are the QR codes generated by exchanges safe for transactions? And how do they generate there own codes.
1023  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does inactive users deserve merits? on: January 06, 2024, 07:42:01 PM
I know merits are rewards for good post as others have said but it's solely a personal decision, if you think you have smerits that you feel it's good to reward any post whether they are inactive or active accounts it's totally your decision.

But from perspective it's probably not wise to merit an account that has been inactive for decades as you said because they clearly do not need it. So why waste your sendables on those accounts while there are so many people out there trying their best with good post too that deserves merit.

Once again its your personal decision, you should do what you like.
1024  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just HODL on: January 06, 2024, 07:26:51 PM
As far as Bitcoin is concerned, I don't encourage trading, whether for beginners or professionals. If you have hit your maximum stash, then you can think of trading, but for the most part, it's just a hobby, so just hodl.
Even after hitting the maximum stash if there is anything like that, it can be lost within few weeks. Trading Bitcoin has made many people broke, the volatility is just so unbearable and the fastest of computer bots might be confused sometimes with the consequences causing unimaginable damage.
Probably there is something like a maximum stash. Since our cash flows are not the same, we will probably not have the same maximum amount of Bitcoin to acquire. If my target is BTC50 and yours is BTC30, this target is our maximum, so if eventually you meet up to acquire this amount of Bitcoin, you could then have a little amount of Bitcoin set aside for trading.

I do not agree with your point that trading Bitcoin has made many people broke. Every adult should be able to distinguish between when to stop and when to keep going. So if anyone loses money out of trading, it's not because he or she traded Bitcoin but because they refuse to listen to advice.

The volatility of Bitcoin is one of the features that makes it special or an investment, so for someone trading Bitcoin, he or she should be responsible for his or her actions, not blame the volatility of Bitcoin. Whatever damage is incurred as a result of trading should be solely the concern of the trader.
1025  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to get rich, you have to become immune to the money.......! on: January 06, 2024, 04:14:59 AM
4. Go for knowledge: Always consider yourself ignorant and learn from people. Read books because that is where knowledge lies, and it's one of the hobbies of the rich, so build up that habit.
not so much
if you play ignorant you stay ignorant. as evidenced dozens of times by what i refer to idiots on this forum

to gain knowledge is the show of willingness to learn. not ignoring/playing dumb and staying in that zone
Considering yourself ignorant I mean isn't playing dumb but being open to learn from any person regardless of their prestige.

I believe I must have met such people you talk about here in the forum too but some people just believe it's probably best ignoring and learning silently, hence won't p stay in that zone but wouldn't act like the know.
1026  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to get rich, you have to become immune to the money.......! on: January 06, 2024, 03:52:52 AM
How true is it? I want to ask the successful people here in this forum. What kind of rules or strategies that you guys use which led you to your success?

I don't know if you mean the forum success or success in life generally. These rules are always the same! It's almost same thing Franky1 said earlier but I made my owns rules but if you're not okay with it you can still make some research on Google.

1. Manage your time: time management is the first rule or advice anyone can give you as to what you need to be successful. Though I'm not successful yet, I apply this rule, and it helps me reach my target. so I believe it will help you too.

2. Avoid luxury: If you ain't rich yet, you don't need those luxuries. example of luxury, flashy cars, expensive clothes, etc.; in fact, anything that will probably impress your folks should be avoided because they are the unnecessary expenses that take up your savings.

3. Go for only the essential things: Whatever you wish to acquire, as long as you are still striving to be rich, you should cut down and only go for what is really necessary for you to live.

4. Go for knowledge: Always consider yourself ignorant and learn from people. Read books because that is where knowledge lies, and it's one of the hobbies of the rich, so build up that habit.
1027  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Using QR codes as Bitcoin address protection on: January 06, 2024, 01:33:33 AM
I was reading some threads talking about malware attacks and clipboard virus so I thought of using something new to protect Bitcoin address, though I'm still anticipating a cold wallet to use this method on but I thought of sharing it. I don't know if this belongs here or beginners and help.

Here is how I thought of using QR codes for bitcoin address protection.
  • There are lots of QR code generators on the internet but you should look for the most reliable provider to use. For instance, I used this website https://www.qr-code-generator.com/
  • After getting a reliable provider you can copy your bitcoin wallet address and paste in the text reserved area.
  • Hence it generates a QR code that you can download as an image.

So as when your bitcoin address is requested you can just send the image for scan to prevent your Bitcoin address from being tempered with. I also thought of how easy it would be for businesses that uses Bitcoin as payment method. It could be printed out and pasted on points where it can be scanned easily.

Although there could be some negative effect of this action but at least it's a good ideal from my perspective.

Note: I don't know if this topic has been raised before as I couldn't find one if so I apologize in advance.
1028  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou - March 9 on: January 06, 2024, 12:52:19 AM
I haven't been too interested in boxing but my elders at home always watch this fights. I guess I have held alot about this too great fighters and I am looking forward to watching this match let's see who wins though this two Africans would be my favorites if I had been into boxing.

I don't like the fact that this two guys have to meet to prove a point. Each of them is going to aim at proving a point that he is worth his position and Francis is going to be proving a point that he wasn't just lucky on his performance against fury in there previous fight, while Joshua will be fight to maintain his reputation. Well it's just the game let's sit back and watch .
1029  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your purpose for celebrating your birthday? on: January 05, 2024, 10:15:53 PM
I do celebrate my birthday, but not regularly. The truth about birthday celebrations is that we just noticed our new age, and we kind of want to appreciate the little things as time doesn't come twice.

If you don't appreciate the life you live, you might not be able to appreciate anything in general. though I understand your perspective on celebration, where people host big parties just for birthday celebrations. Well, it depends on one's pocket. If you can afford to call all your friends to celebrate your new age, then that's where big celebrations are, and that's where money is being spent that seems awkward to you.

though I believe people have different cultures. I guess this is our own culture that we celebrate birthdays, but if you are not okay with the birthday celebrations, you can just ignore them rather than judge people's actions.

Life is too short to not celebrate the additional year with our lives. But to me, whether I celebrate it or not, I'm totally good with it and had no problem at all.
Hats off!  For you. You understand life. Respect

All these losses are because some people just panic at every little shift in expectations, whereas they know too well that they are gambling yet leverage with what they might not afford to lose.

Since we are still anticipating halving, the advice is to just hodl, which the supposed majority of us here already know or are doing already.
1031  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Kaspa or Ethereum Classic? on: January 05, 2024, 12:59:54 PM
As much as KAS is getting more attention, I don't really know how well it will perform in the future, so I can't really predict its future. Between Kaspa and Ethereum Classic, I can't really tell which one is going to be better than the other.

I think you should make comparison with this website https://walletinvestor.com/compare/ethereum-classic-vs-kaspa to know which is probably better.
1032  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is GRIN still a thing? on: January 05, 2024, 12:22:36 PM
I don't really know what is the faith of the token but I believe it has become a 91% fallen crypto that might not come back to it's ATH. Grin has recorded $14 ATH but has not been able to return to half of the ath till date instead it has been heading downward to $0.08 in coinmarket.cap with this price I don't think it can be back as tokens like Monero has taken it's position in the crypto space.

The last hit that got GRIN to this situation was the 51% attack by miners whose identities where unknown and their took over 57% of the GRIN network and I believe it lead to it's last fall in price, you can check coindesk to read more about the attack.

OP, how do you really know about this tokens? your have been strange this days lol  Wink

Hello!

I supposed you have received alot of materials for studies and I hope you read them. Bitcoin knowledge is a very complex one that you really need to take your time and read through each of those materials and as time goings on you might find it difficult to condense some knowledge but you can come here to ask questions.

The problem beginners face is they don't really take there time to read but always in a haste to converse with minimal knowledge and I hope you won't be one of them.

Newbies - Read before posting, you can this read first, You should study each and every topic, and if you don't find the solution where you have difficulty understanding then you can post in the forum, then you will get the solution.
from my little understanding op isn't asking how the forum works but he/she wish to know about bitcoin. The link you drop could be helpful but not here, I advise you read thoroughly before dropping links as it might be considered spam in some discussions.
1034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin ETF is not Approved on: January 05, 2024, 09:06:18 AM
I'm still surprised to see people say what if? whether is approved or not bitcoin itself is always fine with or without every other features that can help in increasing the price.

in as much as we want it approved doesn't mean if it goes side ways Bitcoin won't survive it has been in existence without the ETF so it's just an additional benefits for us.

Though if the ETF is not approved there will surely be a decrease in price for a while but after then it will bounce back to normal.
1035  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many individual holders of Bitcoin are there? on: January 05, 2024, 08:59:29 AM
They have been so many attempts to know how many people uses Bitcoin or own Bitcoin but it all failed because of the same reason Charles Tim has mentioned above.

According to chainalysis there have been over 460 million Bitcoin address recorded including both empty wallets but it doesn't determine how people holds Bitcoin in reality because two people can own a Bitcoin address (multisig wallets) and other reasons why we can't actually know how many people holds people.
1036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We dont own enough bitcoin on: January 05, 2024, 08:39:15 AM
As much as it's good to have Bitcoin, I don't think we should have it to the extent that it will look stupid of us. Yes, we have a life to live, and this life isn't just for Bitcoin; we have other things to do. So why do we overexaggerate our buying of Bitcoin? Why not just buy what you are satisfied with rather than buy to impress someone that you have a lot of Bitcoin that you hold, whereas it's not for any meaning rather than impressive motives?

For me, I will just buy Bitcoin to a level that I'm satisfied with. I have a target, and as soon as I reach my targeted stash, I will rather buy for a short period (trade) in order to maintain my stash than buy to store it up again.
1037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin fees and how we accept its volatility on: January 05, 2024, 07:47:39 AM
It's very good to see the high transaction fees go this low, the Brc-20 was a very negative effect on the Bitcoin blockchain that it lead to the use of alts for transactions.
Personally, I never had to complain even when the price was high because I never had Bitcoin to transact so I didn't complain. Maybe from now I could purchase a little for myself as the transaction fee is relatively low.

I just hope it doesn't jump back to a high price again!
1038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The is always on gambling, never the individual. on: January 04, 2024, 06:04:45 PM
The other day someone was talking about how he hates gambling as it nearly ruined his life, and within my mind I was like, no it was not gambling that nearly ruined you it was actually you that tried to ruin your life and that's because you refused to gamble responsibly and discipline yourself by not been capable of differentiating money meant for gambling from money meant for other projects in your life.

Why do people blame gamble for their own act of irresponsibility. No one is talking about their own part in their story of bad experience's with gambling, all we get to hear is gambling is bad and a useless activity. Why?

Please edit your post before it gets noticed by some senior colleagues that might not take it likely.
Here it's just same thing with OP's

Most times this things happens subconsciously, people don't really know there are making mistakes till it ends their lives. some might be gambling to the extent of ruin his or her life with out knowing that they have gotten to the limit they will need someone to help them get themselves back.

The reason why people do see the fault in others rather than themselves is because the feel they are right in there actions and refuse to take responsibility for it. Gambling is vice versa it's either good to you or bad to you it depends on individual responsibility anyone who is responsible enough won't let gambling ruin his or her life.
1039  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: January 04, 2024, 05:50:44 PM
For me I don't record my winnings or loses I just gamble but I know that most times i win because I haven't been too greed unlike when I started gambling. I just go for the little things and I do loss too but if I loss I don't go after my losses.

I haven't been gambling recently because I'm into somethings that are taking almost all my attention but within last 2 months i suppose I won more because I was only gambling or playing games.

Your ideal is a good one it will even unlock some people's potentials of winning regularly, maybe when someone who knows how to predict uploads a booked bet we can just follow up and place a bet too. But what I don't know is if such ideal or thread has been in existence without my knowledge but if you succeed with that I guess I will be visiting that thread regularly.
1040  Economy / Gambling / Re: Which Casino and Sportsbook have the best UI? Which others can improve? on: January 04, 2024, 05:27:33 PM
Practically, it's not possible to use all casinos at the same time or be updated about all casinos to know about the new UI updates. So we just stick to the one we use regularly. If you're not comfortable with the UI of the casino you use, you can change to another one or test a few to find a better one for yourself.

On a personal level, I have been using BCGames and LiveCasinos not because I like the UI but because it's easy for me to deposit and withdraw at anytime, which is one major consideration I put forward before using any casino.
