1022  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Help identifying old wallet by weird seed phrase on: September 19, 2023, 08:38:15 AM
The seed phrase is only 8 words of 7 characters, and is not BIP39.
2) Multibit Classic wallet
3) Electrum custom seed
The user clearly stated that it is not BIP39 and he also searched for BIP39 words list,  I think he did not find them in the list of words in English. The best guess is that he will find them here https://github.com/blockchain/unused-My-Wallet/blob/master/mnemonic_words_v3.html on Although I think it would be part of the solution since he need UID but it's better than nothing.
1023  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Let me rant a little: Coinbase fraudulently enriches itself on: September 18, 2023, 02:02:02 PM
Sometimes some CEXs increase Bitcoin withdrawal fees to persuade users to trade, buy cheaper altcoins and leave Bitcoin to them we see this policy clear in Binance, as the fees for withdrawing Bitcoin on another blockchain or altcoins are cheaper than the fees for withdrawing Bitcoin.
Sometimes they set limits because of transaction fees, and sometimes they are exaggerated fees that they earn from.

If you can trade, convert it to XRP, withdrawal fees are cheaper.
1024  Other / Meta / Re: Cloudflare blocks creating new topic (Tor) on: September 18, 2023, 01:47:53 PM

I don't know the solution will work for you or not but I have done that on Tor in past when the website wasn't accessible due to cloudflare's issue. I have basically forced Tor to use France based IP addresses and the site worked well with France based IP's for me. I then created a topic to share the whole thing so that someone else using Tor may get help by applying the settings that worked for me.

I do not think that the problem is the IP location problem as much as it is (activity of any bad IP) TOR as example. Therefore, I expect that this problem will reach some Tor or VPN addresses, even if they are in France, because of unusual activity of that IP + some keywords.
1025  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: you have to manage risk for trading. on: September 18, 2023, 01:22:13 PM
Searching for similar historical charts will not help you in any way because trading volumes in the past were not the same as current trading volumes and because supply and demand indicators have changed significantly and change sharply every four years, but the basis of technical analysis is based on averages and Fibonacci in an attempt to find resistance and support points.

Risk management differs from trading, as some risk management strategies require staying away from trading.

At least, you should format the storage, reinstall the OS and install other necessary software (such as wallet software) and never connect to internet again
Alright I will uninstall the windows software and re install it now.

And it's recommended to remove networking component if it's possible.
This I may not do yet since I currently don't have Bitcoin hodlings But I will later on when I have some hodlings to use on the hard wallet.
You did not mention the version of Windows that you are using, but since you describe your device as old, I assume that it is Windows 7. Reinstalling the versions of Windows here may not solve the problem, as there may be vulnerabilities that allow access to your device. You can work with any open source operating system or tails that do not require much experience.

It will only work with Bitcoin/Ethereum/Ethereum based tokens, but if you are planning to airgapped more altcoins, I think it is better to buy a hardware wallet.
1027  Other / Meta / Re: Cloudflare blocks creating new topic (Tor) on: September 18, 2023, 12:51:08 PM
But I can't post the line above with double "//" instead of just one "/". Cloudflare  Cry

I think this is called the Browser Integrity Check, where the weird activity of any bad IP TOR as example that is trying to access */admin.php is checked, or sometimes some usual activity of bots or spammers, so PM them about this problem, or host the code in an external host and copy Link or screenshot.

https://developers.cloudflare.com/waf/tools/browser-integrity-check/

This description is more accurate, as other than the CAPTCHA problem, which can be bypassed using code, I have not had any problems with Tor.
1028  Economy / Economics / Re: Was just watching the big short. Why do the times suddenly feel similar? on: September 18, 2023, 12:04:50 PM
Could we be on the verge of some crazy market crashes like in 2008?
The good thing about the economy is that we benefit from the past. It is true that we repeat the same mistakes, but the development of the economy and the return from the disaster is rapid and faster than what happened in 2008. Therefore, even if a disaster occurs, know to ignore all your investments (no matter their losses) and to wait an average of four years and things will return to normal. Trying to reduce losses by short selling or selling assets, regardless of the losses, is a mistake, and in all cases it is better to diversify your investment portfolio as long as you believe that the economy is in trouble or that something bad will happen.
1029  Economy / Economics / Re: 1.34 trillion asset manager Deutsche Bank to offer Bitcoin service on: September 18, 2023, 11:59:16 AM
Providing these services is beneficial to the bank, as a group of investors want to try Bitcoin but do not want to be exposed to the private keys and bear responsibility. Such a group of investors may be looking for profits that these banks need. Also, stock and investment portfolio managers may recommend about 1% of the net assets in the bank. High-risk investments, and here Bitcoin is a suitable option for everyone.

I find this to be excellent news, and if companies and institutions continue to put 2% to 5% in Bitcoin, a lot will change quickly.
1030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A friendly reminder by the Author of Rich Dad Poor Dad should be taken serious on: September 18, 2023, 11:10:46 AM
Robert Kiyosaki is a good marketer of ideas, and the ideas he presented in the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad are revolutionary. Although they do not show you a real approach to investing, they are enough for you to realize that the economy is bigger than just going to a job and waiting until the age of 62 to obtain a sufficient pension and abundant funds for your children to enjoy. .
He is a fan of Bitcoin, but I do not advise it as economic advice or that there is a belief that the price of Bitcoin will reach 120 thousand dollars. It is true that this is possible, but base your economic calculations on a number between 70k and 100k. If it happens more, then you are lucky.

There are many similarities between the sentences in OP's thread and the original source, I'm a newcomer here and don't know many things (maybe I missed some rules), but is this not considered plagiarism even though OP has included the original source?

Although this behavior is not encouraged, as long as the source is mentioned, at least his account will not be banned.

1032  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Loss of assets in hardware wallets?! on: September 18, 2023, 10:07:23 AM
1- Has anyone ever lost cryptocurrencies stored in a hardware wallet? I know that should not buy a second-hand hardware wallet and should buy it from the manufacturer or its authorized representative. I mean, is it possible that the manufacturing company (like Ledger, safepal or whatever) tampered with the product from the first? For example, in the production line. For example, the manufacturing company may have stored the words of the device, and after someone makes a purchase and transfers the balance to the hard wallet, the manufacturing company steals them. Has anyone ever reported that they lost their cryptos stored in hardware wallets?

If you are skeptical, there is an option of setting up a multi-signature wallet, as you will not have to trust a single manufacturer and thus there is less possibility that more than one manufacturer will be scammer, but I do not know if you have sufficient knowledge to do this.

You can set up cold storage so that you can ensure that you do not need to buy a hardware wallet, but the main purpose of hardware wallets is to reduce complexity in exchange for giving you relative security, as long as you buy a reliable hardware wallet from the manufacturer, verify everything, and use it on a clean computer (new device or delete your old OS with a new open source OS used only with the hardware wallet) then you will be safe. knowledge will not harm you. Start reading more about Bitcoin and cold storage, and when you are ready, your security will be taken to a higher level.
1033  Other / Meta / Re: can we use live signatures on this forum. on: September 15, 2023, 02:12:18 AM
Using it will be negative, as it attracts the eye's attention, it will cause confusion and less attention to what you post. It may lead to many people hiding signatures, which means fewer people will click on your signature links, and after a while, signature campaigns will stop because they did not get enough feedback.
1034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Some Countries living behind their century, taking a back sit on BTC evolution. on: September 15, 2023, 02:04:35 AM
Some countries where the state controls everything are very slow and less flexible when making amendments to the laws and are quick to prevent anything new, but with the passage of time and more countries accepting this technology, the adoption of Bitcoin globally will be rapid, if the G20 countries, for example, use Bitcoin in commercial transactions, Within less than 4 years, 70% of the world’s countries will do that.

1035  Economy / Economics / Re: I tired of Banks my experince with nyc high value Property on: September 15, 2023, 01:53:59 AM
You are now talking about your impression or feeling about something that may be right or wrong, but you are not offering criticism of the idea. The mortgage is considered a financial instrument more than an investment in the property or related to it, and therefore it is risky to pay the price of buying an apartment on credit unless you calculate your steps properly. True, otherwise you will fall into a long spiral that will not be easy to get out of. Spending on real estate outside the residential framework is a long-term investment in the value of the property assuming that it will increase, or short-term speculation with the aim of achieving a large profit, so choose whichever of the two you want.

1037  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your take on Mt. Gox refund ? on: September 14, 2023, 08:20:56 AM
Every two months, news sites include this news. I don't know if it is FUD, or they cannot find new news, or there is an update to the news.

https://www.coindesk.com/business/2023/02/16/mt-goxs-2-largest-creditors-pick-payout-option-that-wont-force-bitcoin-selloff-sources/
https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-mt-gox-repayment-date-looming-is-bitcoin-in-trouble
https://capital.com/mt-gox-refund-repayment-details-deadline
https://coingeek.com/mt-gox-repayments-to-start-in-march-2023-nine-years-after-collapse/

These are links to four news reports that gave four different timings and all of them were not correct. Google contains hundreds of such articles.
The only constant is that they may get their money, but the question remains when.
1038  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another day to take caution of sim swap attack on: September 14, 2023, 08:06:19 AM
I cannot believe that someone who cares about privacy still uses a phone number to secure his accounts, not to mention that he is a developer and is supposed to know this information. Securing your account using a phone number leaves you at the mercy of a third party. This third party may freeze your phone number, block it, or even misuse it, waiting for this to happen. Such attacks to update your information about security is a bad thing.
1039  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Donjon's (Unsuccessful) Double Laser Fault Injection on Coldcard MK4 on: September 14, 2023, 07:33:02 AM
I don't understand why the exploit did not work. If they were able to break into one of the secure elements using laser fault injection, what was stopping them from breaking into the other one similarly, or even both at the same time?

Is there some sort of hardware feature that keeps only part of the key decrypted at any given time, and changes the key at fixed interval to another one?
According to what I understand, they are required to test the DS28C36 against the ATECC508A, a previous test of which using the same tools proved the success of the attack and the possibility of knowing the data. https://blog.ledger.com/coldcard-pin-code/

the attempt was only aimed at SE1 and one vendor and not to hack the wallet.
It is true that there was a leak, but the attack was not successful due to the use of permanent-protected pages used for P256 curve.

Details are better explained here https://fdtc.deib.polimi.it/FDTC23/slides/FDTC2023-slides-3-3.pdf about the reasons for the failure of this attack and recommendations for the future.

1040  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ColorSEED Or how to simply hide your seed phrase on: September 14, 2023, 07:09:41 AM
First thing I thought was about Color Blind people (1 in 12 men are color blind, or about 8%) that simply don't see some colors, but even people with normal eyesight can interpret same color differently.
Even monitors need to be calibrated to show each color correctly, and to calibrate exactly you need special devices, that is another spin ball in this experiment.

I used a tool to extract the HEX code of colors, and out of 8 colors, I obtained 4 colors that were extracted correctly and with the same HEX code, two colors with a different HEX code in the last number, and two colors with a completely different HEX code.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5466467.msg62832538#msg62832538

This method does not require all HEX code to be correct, this is 6/8, but I did not print it and tried to extract the colors using the phone camera, which may produce more errors, not to mention all the complications.
