Escrow would not work because I need to actually purchase the units and I would not want to be more on the hook covering a portion if something else unanticipated happened before I get the unit. People need to understand and accept there is risk. What I am providing a lower risk on performance of the duties of mining on their behalf. |

- not really, the current diff already includes majority of batch #1's hashing power. but I also don't believe diff will only be 10,000,000 but like I said, it should take at least 1 month of ROI, realistically best case 1 month, regular projection of 3 month, which is about diff 30,000,000 which is more reasonable if BFL ships.
Let's assume that this world there will be only Avalon are mining. How many Avalon machines will be there? 300+600+1000+trade-in, that's about 150T hashing power. And the difficulty is already more than 10,000,000. So the projection of difficulty is irresponsible. The 10,000,000 represents a one-month ROI. That doesn't mean you should get this. Anything under 12 months should be suitable. People have been swayed by the dark side of the force and now they think they deserve 1 month ROI. Come one people, I hope someone thinks this is correct? |

Why Avalons greed is bad..
1) Only those who already own an ASIC can generate enough Bitcoins to buy the next Avalon ASIC run.
2) This will concentrate Bitcoin block solving power into just a small amount of hands.
3) This flies in the face of what Bitcoin was supposed to be, a large distributed network of nodes.
4) If this continues you run the risk of the Bitcoin community abandoning the project for LiteCoin.
People are paying $30,000 for BFL Mini-rigs and ordering 30 Singles, so it's clear that "only those who already own an ASIC..." is a bullshit argument - many people have placed orders of much greater value with BFL. Hashing power is going to concentrate in the hands of those who have funds - whether it's BTC or USD - period. Mining arms races are going to continue and there are always going to be some miners prepared to pay a premium to gain a temporary advantage over others. It's the nature of the beast. We can't assume the only people with BTC is getting into mining. As we have seen plenty of new money enter the market. This is the nature of the beast. Consolidation will happen, look at gold mining as an example. Bitcoin was built with the ability for this to happen so even if it is an unintended consequence, it happened. Litecoin you say? Maybe but not likely, people are moving in to Bitcoin "because" the network is getting more secure and bigger. It's the network effect in its prime. |

I assume that was the feeling. Many are finding out what happens when you deal with a principled business person.
Bwahahaha, holy shit that made me laugh. It is immensely apparent that Team Avalon has poor business experience, and for the record I have no problem with that. It's good for a company to stumble as they did, so long as they learn from their mistakes. In the end it makes you stronger. This, however, has yet to happen..hence the humor of you putting them on a pedestal. With a ROI of 6-12 months, you know they will keep the gear on the network for that time, keeps it just the much more secure.
Speaking of security, since when is vastly raising the bar to entry better for the network in the long run? Instead of thousands of people saving their pennies to make a purchase, Avalon is instead tailoring to a hundred customers who have substantial amounts of cash lying around. This sort of circles back to my comment on their "business skills"... Hope people are looking at other motives than just profits.
Dalkore, I trust you've been here long enough to understand that (for the vast majority of people) profit is, in fact, the primary motivator. Korbman, sorry about the delay. I wanted to respond, things have been crazy with Bitcoin. 1. I disagree, you may not like their style of business but I would not call it poor. Sure the customer service is pretty lacking but they are upfront about this and have delivered a great product, that is what counts in the end. Pedestal you say, compared to what? Nope, just giving "my" opinion and telling it as best as I can. People can choose to value that opinion or not, it really comes down to if you think I am competent enough to make that judgement. If you knew what track record to this point, you may. 2. Depends on how you look at it. You need to ask yourself, raising the bar for who? Newcomings that want a quick buck? See I have kept going all-in and doubling down so I am in the position I am right now. Yes it could be cheaper but to say a 6-12 month ROI is not amazing great, is sort of head-scratching. This large group of customers could pool together and get a unit. I ordered a batch #2 Avalon ASIC unit back on February 3rd. Through the chaos and glitches of the website that day, I actually managed to get payment sent through walletbit and I have the confirmation for that, but I'm nervous that my shipping address might have gotten messed up. As the website was crashing frequently I heard issues where people placed orders and other people's names and info appeared. Beyond that, no other confirmation ever came up. I know these guys are busy, but over the past month I've sent PM's, 2 emails to support@avalon-asic.com, and received no response. Does anyone know who I should be contacting? Contact Walletbit support and verify shipping info with them. As Yifu said, if you got confirmation from Walletbit, then Avalon have your order. This. |
