1021  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin is officially dead on: January 20, 2016, 05:24:57 PM
Anyone claiming Litecoin is dead, is a delusional troll and ought to be treated like one; with utmost disrespect.

Litecoin will see $10 and beyond in 2016. Anyone questioning this prediction does not believe in cryptocurrencies in general. Litecoin is the 2nd most establish digital currency, everything, as far as evidence and data goes, points at this and justifies the Silver to Bitcoin's gold analogy. If Bitcoin fails, then Litecoin will be the one taking its place.

Be smart and diversify your crytpocurrency holdings. Make at least 40% of your holdings Litecoin.

Definitely diversify and no, Litecoin is not dead.  These "dead" threads are hilarious.  What negativity!  All of these altcoins are cool because it is INNOVATION.  The world needs innovation, even if it fails at first.
1022  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN going up or down on: January 20, 2016, 05:21:20 PM
Here is what will definitely happen...It is going to go up, then it is going to go down, then it will head east, then it will go up and down.  Who knows?  I thought for certain we would see 500 by the end of 2015 but that did not happen.  The fact we saw the 300's in the last week was insane and I did not think that would happen.  so, who knows.
1023  Bitcoin / Meetups / Does anyone here go to Bitcoin Meetups? on: January 20, 2016, 05:13:00 PM
I was wondering if anyone here goes to Bitcoin Meetups and how it is in your area?  I am unfortunately not in a large city right now and in my area there is a Bitcoin Meetup group but it only meets 1 time every other month and it does not seem like a lot attend.
1024  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-01-19] Mike Hearn Disputes Claims of a Banking Conspiracy against Bitcoin on: January 20, 2016, 05:06:38 PM
Ok, R3 just employed him to make coffee and serve donuts in meetings? Ask him what his portfolio is and what his job description is....  Roll Eyes .....Let's not dance around the issue,

this guy was targeted by this consortium for his knowledge on Crypto currencies and his position on Bitcoin. Did anyone think he will just come out and say... " Yea, this was a

publicity stunt and I was informed by my new employers to do this " Sorry Mike, we not stupid... we see right through you.  Grin

Agreed.  Such a publicity stunt or whatever it could be called...blatant sabotage?  He had himself firmly in place with R3 before making the declaration that Bitcoin is dead.  This is certainly the latest laughable "Bitcoin is Dead" statement.
1025  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: more lives than a cat! on: January 20, 2016, 05:03:34 PM
Bitcoin has many lives. The price is so fun to watch, up, down, sideways rollercoaster.  I am glad I am not a trader with this stuff because I would certainly be as insane as a Siamese cat.
1026  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese central bank seminar on digital currency held in Beijing on: January 20, 2016, 04:58:45 PM
What does this mean?  Any confirmation on whether or not it is a competing currency?
1027  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocks are full. on: January 20, 2016, 04:52:19 PM
This is great, this means that Bitcoin is hot!  This also means that a solution can be found from all of this frustration.
1028  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitfinex does not let me withdraw my Coins ! (DANGER) on: January 20, 2016, 04:49:11 PM
VERY misleading title....

You hit freeze by accident.. it did EXACTLY what it was suppose to and they fixed it for you in a day..

WTF is your problem? Freeze account is SUPPOSE TO FREEZE YOU GOD DAMN ACCOUNT..

Yes, a little bit of an alarmist post.  Sure there is an issue but maybe not put DANGER in the title.  Things are a little shaky right now and we need to remain calm.
1029  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin devs discuss changing PoW to exclude ASICs on: January 20, 2016, 07:36:11 AM
https://np.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/41aocn/httpsbitcoinorgenbitcoincorecapacityincreases_why/cz0z9ym

Soooo ... what happens with this?  The bitcoin redit and forums go with bitcoin core which is now GPU while the miners and most of the exchanges go with bitcoin classic?

I can't decide if this is laughable or a pretty big deal.

Honestly, I see it as a pretty big deal IMO.  The fact of the matter is, is that the community is continually dividing and devs can't pick a road to go down.  Honestly, it would be nice for all the devs to come on the forum for like a week or two to do a AMA or just take questions and honestly listen to people whether they are big time miners or just regular people who use Bitcoin.  If we all sit down and lay out the pros and cons together I think we can start getting toward a consensus.

This is going to be essential  at some point and probably sooner than later.
1030  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Survival Guide near a Hard Fork on: January 20, 2016, 02:54:54 AM
i dont think any of the exchanges and cloud wallets really has all of the client bitcoins. We will see a dramatic collapse or to refuse to release the client bitcoins. I think now is a good time for everyone to get out his bitcoin from such wallets. Before the storm is coming.

This would be my concern - exchanges or wallets refusing to release bitcoins.  Hmm, this is all a little unnerving since I am not a cold wallet person.
1031  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Survival Guide near a Hard Fork on: January 20, 2016, 01:04:28 AM
We must inform ppl how will keep safe their bitcoin if a hard fork happens. Everyone know that if this hard fork happen without consensus there will be a very difficult situation for the bitcoin economy and we must guide the ppl how can they save their bitcoin.
I will begin with some advices.

1. We withdraw all of our bitcoins from exchanges, cloud wallet and from everywhere that we will not own the private keys.

2. We transfer all of our bitcoins to a desktop wallet or whatever wallet we own the private keys and we cut it from internet or we dont accept from this time any incoming transactions.

3. We keep frozen our bitcoin until resolve the situation.

When hard fork happens will we have two separate blockchains and two different coin with the same name. We can all understand if consensus is not happen and after the hard fork we will have a difficult economical situation to bitcoin ecosystem.
In my opinion we will have a trade stall, a dramatical price drop, a temporary collapse of mining.
I cant see the two side to get together and to have a consensus and we all must prepare for the worst....
I think winter is coming..

Great info, thank you.  How will we know if there is a hard fork without consensus?  Will there be warning.  What could happen to cloud wallets while this is taking place?  thanks in advance.
1032  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Washington Post: 'R.I.P. Bitcoin. It’s time to move on' on: January 19, 2016, 11:58:29 PM
Just more hilarity from the mainstream media.  Bravo Washington Post, I did not know you had a time machine, or were hiring time travelers.  What they don't know, or are trying to NOT know, is that it is a broad solution for currency in the future.  Lets not forget about the beloved blockchain.
1033  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Government Urged to use Blockchain by Chief Science advisor on: January 19, 2016, 11:56:15 PM

Its very cool i just watched the youtube vid and read some of the document.  Why dont they just work on the bitcoin blockchain with the already working network humanity has provided.  Why are they concerned about making making their own i wonder hmm.

Haha exactly.  Why would they want a blockchain of their own.  This endless news of banks embracing the "blockchain" is hilarious.  Time for someone to come out and announce that the Blockchain is dead..including an elaborate essay of why.
1034  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Mike Hearn save Bitcoin? on: January 19, 2016, 11:54:06 PM
at any stage in his career

Yes. I think he's brought to light the depths at which bankers are willing to go to "own" bitcoin. That's a banker's nature, that's all a banker knows. Perhaps this will wake up the community at its "Core".

The main problem with bitcoin at the moment is how some core developers have commercial conflicts. If they really cared about bitcoin, they would either resolve those conflicts or resign from the project. Like Coinbase and Circle, blockstream needs to stay out of core.

I agree with all of this. There are serious conflicts of interest going on and we had to know this would happen.  Maybe this is true, that all of the press around this will bring solutions to some of the issues.
1035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why Doge coin is bad on: January 17, 2016, 10:45:55 PM
I don't understand that why you are complaining about altcoins? Altcoins help cryptocurrency are to remain alive. If there is only bitcoin how can all trading sites work?..

I have wondered this too...countless thread calling every altcoin a shi$coin and on and on.  To me altcoins are interesting and are constantly evolving technologies with bright developers behind them.  As a fan of Bitcoin it is only logical to pay attention to to other coins as well.  I like dogecoin, I think their community is vibrant.
1036  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins - which do you like? on: January 17, 2016, 10:35:42 PM
Dogecoin, Namecoin, and Litecoin are my favorites.  Dogecoin has a great community and grassroots effort and Litecoin is Bitcoin's silver.  Namecoin has some interesting potential.
1037  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: USA citizen - how can I buy/sell btc without using Coinbase or LocalBitcoins? on: January 17, 2016, 10:27:20 PM
Circle's maximum is $300/week so they are useless.

If you use Coinbase, do NOT use them as a wallet.
Buy and then move them elsewhere.
Otherwise Coinbase will eventually ask you to account for every withdrawal/deposit you've made.

What do you mean that Coinbase will eventually ask you to account for every withdraw or deposit?
1038  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you buying bitcoins? Why? on: January 17, 2016, 09:59:39 PM
I buy and collect bitcoin because I believe in the technology.  I also buy because it is easy to use and as time goes on it will be even easier.  Overall faith in the technology is my main reason.
1039  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin Hedge Fund on: January 17, 2016, 09:01:38 PM
are the winkilvoss twins not setting something like this up?
On Genesis? If so then I would like to know if they will be.  As far as I know they have not revealed publicly to a new market account with this being offered as of yet.

This would be interesting, they have been quiet for a bit since opening and I wonder what they have up their sleeve.  Like them or not I think they are in it to win it with BTC.
1040  Economy / Speculation / Re: PANIC BUYING !!!!!!! on: January 17, 2016, 08:59:33 PM
haha.  Panic buying is a whole other animal!  It exists and when these drops happen the panic sets in...to buy.
