10201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Is Not The Best? But... on: October 27, 2017, 11:07:41 AM
What is anyone's definition of best?

There might be faster coins out there. Are they as secure? There might be coins with more capacity. Could they handle full capacity 24/7 for years on end without breaking? Bitcoin can. I doubt people want to test it out again with other coins.
10202  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What Will You Do If You Are Trap On A SHIT Coin ? Or Low Volume Coin on: October 27, 2017, 10:51:02 AM
Leave it where you bought with a sell order in place. More often than not some nutter will give random coins a pump for the hell of it. If you bought it knowing nothing then the chances are someone else will too eventually.
10203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Segwit2X:Users care which side wins? Or do they? on: October 27, 2017, 12:20:26 AM
You bet your arse they should care.

Most people don't know at all. Most people don't understand.

The people who do may feel they have no influence over this debate so there's no point in picking a side. I don't think that's valid but it's understandable.
10204  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] FUNDED 2013 Casascius Brass 1 BTC Coin on: October 27, 2017, 12:16:34 AM
Interesting that people bid 1.3 btc here while I've been selling two of these for 1.28 BTC for years.

I would also like to buy a pair for 1.28

Put me down for 5 pairs please. Address to send 6.4BTC please?

Are the pair of you mentally subnormal?

It would be rare indeed that someone would sell something containing 2 BTC for less than 2 BTC don't you think just a little teensy weensy bit?
10205  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which Exchange is the fastest in SEPA withdrawals on: October 26, 2017, 10:08:41 PM
is fidor available to non European?
what do you mean that kraken doesn't work properly, in my experience cex doesn't work properly

The Kraken exchange is buggy, slow and trades don't execute.

Fidor will only be available to German or British residents. SEPA will still be fast to other banks, but not that fast. Fidor was specially integrated into Kraken and Bitcoin.de.
10206  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which Exchange is the fastest in SEPA withdrawals on: October 26, 2017, 09:45:58 PM
If you combine it with Fidor then Kraken takes an hour or two. The problem is that Kraken as an exchange doesn't really work properly. Other places like Bitstamp shouldn't be more than a couple of days. That Cex figure is a disgrace.
10207  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 26, 2017, 09:25:20 PM
I can't see it happening.

How the fuck did it ever get to this position? It's the tiredest trope in Bitcoinland and merchant adoption does nothing anyway.
10208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Exchanges Are Closing! What will be other ways to buy/sell bitcoins? on: October 26, 2017, 07:47:04 PM
Exchanges will slowly be swallowed by the existing establishment. The need for interaction with fiat will never go away. There'll be vast money to be made. Customers will demand better standards and competence than they are provided with at present.

At the same time decentralised options will improve, but I think at heart the average person doesn't have the gumption or balls to take ownership of their own finances. They'll remain niche.
10209  Economy / Speculation / Re: Even Wall Street’s “dean of valuations” can’t value bitcoin on: October 26, 2017, 07:36:42 PM
I don't really understand why those on the sidelines are so desperate to categorise, condemn, pigeon hole or predict. It's going to carry on doing its thing no matter what they spout and no one can tell anyone where it's going to lead.

History is littered with people who ended up looking like morons when it comes to BTC. I wouldn't be adding to it myself.
10210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank system better at tracking illegal activity than bitcoin on: October 26, 2017, 07:24:58 PM
At this stage of the game anyone using Bitcoin for evil ends expecting to be invisible is going to be in for an exceedingly rude surprise. It's useless for that type of thing. Stick to the coins designed for it.
10211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Satoshi Nakamoto Alive on: October 26, 2017, 07:15:17 PM
The idea that Satoshi is fine and is now completely uninterested in Bitcoin is laughable. I believe it was a team that came together to create it and then dispersed. I've no idea who they were or whether they were backed by someone with a higher purpose.
10212  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 26, 2017, 06:53:59 PM
Let's say you buy the house right now, using 20% down payment in liquidated bitcoin, and financing the other 80% for 30 yrs. The rest you kept in bitcoin. Even if bitcoin ONLY did a 10X from here over the next 30 years(!), your average yearly bitcoin gains would still crush the interest payments on the loan. And you can pay off your loan early at any time, you don't have to wait 30 years.

But if you don't believe Bitcoin will still be around and be a "thing" in 30 years, well then you must not believe that it will disrupt and revolutionize finance at all.

I do not believe anything is certain enough to make that type of bet. If someone told me they'd done the same with the blue chippiest of stocks I'd still think they were a twat.

If I had to buy a property I'd buy it outright and forever put that obligation to bed there and then.

I've said it before but I'll say it again, people are getting far, far, far too comfortable with the idea of BTC being a stone cold, cast iron, gold plated one way trip to glory. It's that type of thinking that gets people in serious trouble when that's tested.
10213  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 26, 2017, 03:31:24 PM
And if you want to own a house or land, it would be smarter to only liquidate enough bitcoin for a sizable down payment, and then get a really good low fixed rate 30yr loan for the rest. Bitcoin's yearly returns would handily beat, actually crush any 3-4% yearly interest on the loan. Plus both the house/land AND your left over bitcoin would both be increasing in value relative to fiat while you were still making loan payments.
Spot on

That's acting like bitcoin has it in the bag already and for eternity.

Anyone who plunges headlong into anything with that assumption has spent too long here.

Fiat is of course junk, but i would not expect to service a loan on theoretical gains, only fully realised ones in which case i don't need it anyway.
10214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Malta is trying to regulate cryptocurrency?? on: October 26, 2017, 11:45:36 AM
The first places to clarify crypto's position and help to nurture it will reap vast benefits in the future. If they're wise they'll be coming  up with measures to stop this ICO shit from blowing up as well as making sure the legit projects can thrive.
10215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon to accept Bitcoin? on: October 26, 2017, 11:42:30 AM
Business is business as usual and we know that Amazon is one of the most well known online shop and they have to get into what's on the trend. Because most of the online shoppers are into internet and they figured out that bitcoin is the digital currency that is on trend now.

No one is having anything to do with Bitcoin so they can go shopping with it. The only trend is the usual get rich quick one which only a small number of people are doing and it may not work out too well for them.

I can't believe anyone falls for this Amazon shit any more.
10216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon to accept Bitcoin? on: October 26, 2017, 11:31:31 AM
The utter bollocks that keeps on giving. Feeling down in the dumps? Start another Amazon 'rumour' and there'll be enough sad cases willing to jump on it for a few hours again.
10217  Economy / Speculation / Re: This guy predicts bitcoin to be $20,000 in 2 years. What do you think? on: October 25, 2017, 03:25:54 AM
It's really no longer much of a stretch going on the performance this year. It gained $1000 in a ridiculously short period of time. There'll be plenty of bumps in the meantime but it is achievable.
10218  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: October 25, 2017, 12:14:57 AM
I'm not sure what sort of women you hang around with, but I'm gay, and know several of them who have wallets. Even knew one that had a few S3's and mined back in the day.

Maybe you need to get out and meet more women ?

You shouldn't mention women to the people on this forum, it's almost as inflammatory as being complimentary about Yidisher.
10219  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what are the things to consider in your 1st bitcoin investment? on: October 24, 2017, 10:47:01 PM
If Bitcoin falls nearly 10x and takes more than three years to return to the price you paid for it would you be able to take it? Because that's what happened to people who bought in 2013.

People who bought in 2013 also fully expected to be able to sell it for more the following month and year. If only life was that simple we'd all be rich.
10220  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gold Fork just costs Bitcoin $5B! on: October 24, 2017, 10:38:16 PM
I don't think the bitcoin price drop and the bitcoinGold fork are related. Bgold is not endangering bitcoin in any way. Users were swapping their alts to bitcoin in order to get more bgold. Now that they've got it, they are once again returning part of their investments back to alts.

So the price drop is related then.

Without this fork, if it actually happens, I don't think BTC would've topped $6000 at this particular moment, so in effect BTG has given and taken away within a short period of time.

I've no idea why anyone would get worked about it though. And it's not as if it was 5 real billions. It's just market cap crap.
