10221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / So a bitcoin scam has been getting a lot of publicity in the Philippines lately on: January 30, 2020, 03:42:21 AM
And we need your help.

These scammers have been spreading fake news about certain big names from the Philippines saying that these people are endorsing these "trading bots" to earn money. The scam has gained too much publicity that one of these big names has to publicly announce on television(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFtbT1j4WnQ) that he doesn't endorse this scam.

Yes, I know, it's a typical scam right? Why overreact? But unfortunately, a good number(or dare I say most) of filipinos are completely unaware on what ponzi schemes and other scams are, so the best thing we could possibly do is to possibly get these sites off the web to hopefully significantly decrease the potential damage that it can do to the masses.

Sites of this scam we've found:
Code:
https://the-bitcoinrevolution.com/
https://bitcoinrevolution.cloud/
https://securelyriches.com/bitcoin-revolutuion
https://thesecuredoffer.org/bitcoinrevolution-autopass/
https://secured4u.net/bitcoinrevolution-auto/
https://bitcoin-revolution.site/
https://revolutsrevo.com/

Even just reporting these sites to Google just to get the warning message when people open these scam sites could be a big help and could hopefully make people think twice: https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_general/

Some places to report if you have the time:

Thanks!

10223  Other / Meta / Re: Requesting additional option for the Bitcointalk proof of Ownership on: January 30, 2020, 03:09:14 AM
You don't need a laptop - there are non-custodial mobile wallets, e.g. Coinomi (not an endorsement, I don't use it, just heard of it). You don't need to keep any money in that wallet. Just get an address, sign a message, stake it, and keep the seed/backup of the wallet secure.

Hello @suchmoon, thanks for the suggestion. I heard of coinomi got that feature but there are some who said that coinomi isn't safe and have a lots of error. This is one of my choice to do it but I'm still looking for other option or maybe the forum can accept some way to prove our ownership without much relying on this non custodial third party app. I know there are limited custodial wallet that has this kind of feature so if there is none much option. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Not saying that safety isn't important, but don't overthink it too much as you wouldn't need to put in money anyway. All you need is to make sure you have access to the keys as so you can sign messages whenever you need to, and that's pretty much it.

Also, you can use Electrum.
10224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Podcasts about crypto on: January 30, 2020, 03:04:55 AM
There's probably a good number(and increasing) number of crypto-related podcasts out there, but here are my personal picks that I listen to:

10225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The next action of Old man McAfee on: January 29, 2020, 06:00:44 PM
I don't know why some crypto projects actually get him on board as an advisor because he has developed a bad reputation in this industry and that is surely going to go against any marketing.

Because though he is really a heavily controversial person, his name still has some weight in it for being the founder of the famous but crappy McAfee Antivirus. Especially in 2017, having his name on a certain project's team page gives the illusion that that certain project is legitimate/relevant. Fortunately, for all the stupid things he's said(especially the tweet in question), he's slowly but surely losing relevancy and reputation even in the cryptocurrency markets.

EDIT: So it seems like on the 2 projects he heavily shilled(Skycoin and Apollo) and whereas he's supposed to be a team member, apparently his name is no longer on the team pages. Freakin LOL. Shilling failed.
10226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Which is the most trusted wallet for store Altcoins? on: January 29, 2020, 05:53:48 PM
it's better if you use hardware wallet but in case that you don't want to buy it maybe he can use coinomi wallet which is support many cryptocurrencies at the moment

Coinomi is closed-source, and I would almost never recommend the usage of closed-source wallets. Exodus has both a desktop and mobile app, so I'd suggest using that instead Apparently Exodus is only partially open-source. Though I'd never recommend holding a huge variety of coins in the first place for obvious(smelly) reasons.
10227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The next action of Old man McAfee on: January 29, 2020, 05:07:09 PM
Funny how he and a few other people(a.k.a. Twitter XRP bots and ETH supremacists) call bitcoin "outdated" and "the hotmail of crypto"(from one of the Tweet's replies), but yet not one other cryptocurrency has come close to what Bitcoin is today and what it has achieved. I don't get how they could call something that people widely use "outdated", even though it doesn't even a better alternative. Not even close.
10228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHEN YOU ARE CONFUSED REFER TO BITCOIN on: January 29, 2020, 04:35:01 PM
these coins follow the price and chart of Bitcoin and as Bitcoin grows back, they too grow, and their volatility in terms of rate of returns is higher than of Bitcoin and hence, those coins can give higher profits than Bitcoin in the short term, isn't it Wink

I suggest you take a look at the charts of these altcoins vs bitcoin and see for yourself if it's "rate of returns is higher than of Bitcoin". They've been getting rekt for a while now, in exception of a few alts like LINK.

As for short term, sure you could say that; but best of luck timing the markets.
10229  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Selling an app for BTC on: January 29, 2020, 03:55:04 PM
I'm going to take my chances and just assume that you're genuinely asking for advice and not posting here to increase the Google searches for whatever exchange that is.

No. It's most definitely a scam.

1. You "register a wallet" on this scam site
2. He "sends" you the bitcoin, but in fact, he only changes a few numbers on the website's database to make it look like you actually have bitcoin
3. You send him the codebase of your app
4. You then realized that you couldn't withdraw the bitcoin because there was no bitcoin to start with
10230  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make 3 USD a day? Tips wanted. on: January 29, 2020, 10:29:41 AM
If effortlessly one has to earn then they can go to airdrop page and they will list airdrops and giveaways. That can be considered as option.

List of few airdrop platforms
...

You'd be really lucky to actually make $3 a day with airdrops lol. Most of the time, like 99% of the time, you're going to be handed useless tokens that aren't even worth crap. And not to mention that you're going to need to hand over personal documents to some. Easily a big no.
10231  Local / Pamilihan / Re: [Babala] hacked YouTube accounts >Ledger wallet on: January 29, 2020, 09:34:07 AM
Grabe naisip nila yon?

Unfortunately, it doesn't end here.
10232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The profitability and effort put into different ways of earning bitcoin on: January 29, 2020, 08:53:26 AM
I'm surprised more earners here aren't blogging since that generally has higher rates of return than a sig campaign and is also slightly easier to do. And considering how many off-topic posts are removed here, even easier than a sig campaign on this site.

Unless you're actually really knowledgeable on blogs yourself, you're most definitely underestimating the difficulty of maintaining a blog. Not only that you'd have to be decent at writing, you'd also have to be heavily knowledgeable on the niche you're writing about. Just spamming your blog posts on forums and social media isn't the right way to go if you actually want it to be a sustainable source of income.

And wait, there's more! You'd also need to have decent knowledge on Search Engine Optimization(SEO) for your articles to actually gain traction. A lot of blogs out there don't even reach even 1 organic view(through search engine searches).

Lastly, blogging and affiliate programs can overlap.
10233  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to make 3 USD a day? Tips wanted. on: January 29, 2020, 04:31:30 AM
I do not have many special talents, but I am willing to listen to tips.

Definitely not the answer you're looking for, but don't chase for these quick bucks. You don't have any special talents, fine. But even everyone that's now successful also started as people who knows literally nothing. Instead, they exerted effort to learn. I hope you realize how lucky we are right now that we have literally a crap ton of free information on the internet, that we can learn almost anything we want.
10234  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHEN YOU ARE CONFUSED REFER TO BITCOIN on: January 29, 2020, 03:02:07 AM
So which coin do you first advise your student to buy as the learning progresses?

Nothing. Because people don't necessarily need to buy it to learn about it. Though I'm extremely bullish on bitcoin, I don't tell anyone to buy it. Simply due to the reason that not everyone can stomach the price volatility. If a person I'm talking to is genuinely interested in bitcoin and does extensive research on it, chances are, he's going to buy bitcoin without even me telling him.
10235  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Ledger wallet] Hacked YouTube accounts on: January 28, 2020, 03:40:40 PM
Some will obviously learn the essential life lessons the hard way.

It's unfortunately pretty much a part of life in general; like how people touch wet paint on a wall with a "wet paint" sign; and I'm not even going to pretend that I haven't been a victim in the past. I'm just really fortunate that I got phished(hence learned my lesson) at such a young age(10 years old or so), that I've only lost an account on some online game. After that incident, never did I get phished again all my life. For some people though, they're going to experience their first scams through the cryptocurrency space, which is going to be far more painful.
10236  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How find links in bitcointalk in an easiest way on: January 28, 2020, 09:18:18 AM

Ads and in-app purchases for a notes app. Quite unnecessary.

If I were to suggest the usage of a certain notes app, I'd definitely go something that's open-source. Here's 2 decent ones that's recommended through privacytools.io:

10237  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's over $9000! on: January 28, 2020, 03:51:38 AM
If anything, based on the past few years that I've been in the cryptocurrency space, Vegeta memes coming out everywhere is mostly a sign for a price dip down back to the 8k's. It's pretty much a huge jinx.

I don't think so. The same exact reason kung bakit meron paring mga non-cryptocurrency scams and ponzi schemes ngayon.

10239  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A case against using Avast on: January 28, 2020, 03:26:42 AM
These antiviruses have always been quite shady, especially the notorious McAfee antivirus. With that said, the only antivirus/antimalware software I used back in the day was the default Windows Defender, and Malwarebytes for the occasional malware scan. These things became completely unnecessary the moment I tried using Linux operating systems though. Though things could break once in a while especially if you love tinkering stuff, the peace of mind that comes with it for having a more secure and privacy-respecting OS is totally worth it.
10240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Why are exchanges still listing shitcoins? on: January 28, 2020, 03:00:42 AM
All that matters is that they get paid by the project "CEOs" to list their coin/token, and that they could earn money off the trading fees of the coin/token's trading pairs. I'm pretty sure a lot of exchanges don't give a single crap if a certain project is even legitimate or not, as long as they could earn money.
