Lets not forget that there is a DEV fund and most pools contribute. BTW where is a link to the accounting of that fund?

Not quite accounting, but they do have milestones listed.

https://forum.getmonero.org/9/work-in-progress

Odd, not all of them seem to have the same detailed format with milestones and payout listed under the bars.  https://forum.getmonero.org/9/work-in-progress/2400/open-source-amd-miner-by-wolf0

Speaking of wolf miner, what pool does it default to on failover? I doesn't display that.
10242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 14, 2016, 01:30:03 AM

the monero dev team also dont seem to care much. i witnessed a conversation between fluffypony and denverthedinozor on polo yesterday. the latter asked when the gui will be available and the former said, monero is open source, thus when the dev feels like it they will work on it and release it. that doesnt seem like its going to happen anytime soon. i believe the foundation made a lot of money in the hype and thus dont really care about the system anymore.

Beside this you said also other things that might be cool or not, basicly dont matter. But this really made me to reply.

What  fluffypony said is how it is. Monero is opensource project without any premine or ICO or whatever. There is no foundation. None of those that wrote code got any XMR for free. They had to buy them with money they earned doing something else. So what happens with that is no ones buisness.

There were few projects founded. One is also a GUI that is worked on from January. With price increase that bounty of 18k XMR also got a bigger appeal. A year ago that was $10k today is way more. So I am sure, since is totally naturally, that coder that working on GUI is focusing way more then he did at beginning of year.

For those that likes coins that have ICO , premines and foundations or even big mega money corporations behind, should just forget about Monero. Why waste your time with something that is in basic something you dont want. And there are so many options.

Lets not forget that there is a DEV fund and most pools contribute. BTW where is a link to the accounting of that fund?
10243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH is a Fail and why ETC will fail as well. on: September 13, 2016, 08:09:06 PM
ETC cannot as that will invalidate it's entire existence. Catch22

It is a catch-22 for ETH, not for ETC.  In fact, ETC couldn't care less about "replay attacks", which are not "attacks" at all, but just simultaneous transactions on both chains.

The real catch-22 is for ETH, because after this disastrous fork, they will be scared to death to fork again.

The real difference would probably come when ETH should fork for PoS, but this is even more a "jump in the dark" and they will never dare to do it.  In fact, ETH has put itself in a very, very difficult position, and this is normal, because ETH is in fact the result of a sustained 51% attack on the original chain.

Catch22 for both, I just left the ETH reason out as I was responding on ETC forking specifically. I've posted elsewhere why. Losing immutability will destroy ETC and losing what little confidence is left will hasten ETH demise both of which will happen to whichever forks. And Yes I agree ETC does not even need to fork. what it needs is a smart contract system that works as well as scalability and a host of other issues that no-one is bothering to talk about while this other drama unfolds...

Dead coins walking.

There will be a DEVConv in the next few days. Do you think that will affect the ETC price as well as the ETH price?

I no longer care, I have never held any of either (I may have part of one because I helped shore up the true chain as a altruistic measure). I made an overture to the ETC community and was ignored. I spend my time more wisely these days so you won't see me in threads giving helpful advice much anymore as it's never been appreciated and I have better thigs to do with my time. Smiley

but thanks for asking. Smiley

Everyone in this thread already blew their load by being so hyper bullish (not even saying they are wrong to be hyper bullish even in the short to medium term, just saying what is probably the truth). I wonder what price will bring the rodger vers of the world out of the woodwork.

Not everyone. Tongue I think I've called things pretty consistently as well as pretty spot one these last few years. And instead of thank you's I get insulted by n00bs! Lol

is monero threatened by the current zion crowdsale? which is essentially a tor marketplace and a monero clone- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1604526.0

no just another ico/premine/instamine shitcoin

Absolutely... Angry

thats the shitcoin he first tried to call Monero classic. Get ready to get dumped on Zion bagholders, you were all forwarned.

Ah so basically you meant that the market is getting setup for profit taking (not you). Sorry got confused. Good luck, you are essentially playing poker against everyone in this thread and then some (of late). The one big advantage over poker is that there are no blinds. Don't force yourself to play. As @aminorex said a while ago, 90% of the so called traders lose money, they just can't admit it.

Correct and thanks. Smiley I raked a nice 1500 dollar pot today. but would have rather had had that in XMR. Cheesy

It's more fun when you can do it honestly. Wink

Next major support at ~0.016? Seems likely we will go there but will it be broken?

Historically questions like this are rhetorical and have caused dumps. Good job if you have sold your stash. Im surprised some are not calling for 0.00016 yet  Wink

Still waiting for the floor to get back in. Getting itchy fingers but there is alot more [profit taking to be had.

Thought I read somewhere that you sold way too early at 0.008 ?

WOW, it was way before that! I sold before DAO bust. I foresaw the BTC drop and wanted out to rebuy when it bottomed but never saw the DAO market effect coming and when my entry point was back (took 3 months when I had predicted 2) I had real life issues and wasn't able to get back in so I screwed myself. Smiley

But that is the story of my life, I see some things too far ahead and get completely blind sided by others! Cheesy

10251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: September 11, 2016, 07:45:18 PM
It doesn't support anonymity on the protocol level so you can do the same thing in Bitcoin. On top of that there was a huge pre-mine instamine

FIFY. Truth in scamming is important.

And that's not even what bothers me the most, it's the fact he lied to us all and we shut off our miners for the second relaunch that never happened! People forget.

10252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: THE RISE AND RISE OF MONERO on: September 09, 2016, 04:38:06 PM
Happy to hear that Genesis Mining is rolling out XMR mining contracts. I just got an email from them.  It just proved the acceptance that Monero is getting. Obviously the price hike is due to the demand and we can't rule out a correction coming in. MAybe, it may keep gaining. But XMR seems like  a good candidate to diversify your crypto portfolio into.

Is there a major difference between DASH and MONERO?

http://bfy.tw/7cZH

Even the New Zealand Inland Revenue know about it  Huh

http://imgur.com/a/amgkr

It is not because they ask the question that they can know the answer.  Of course you are supposed to declare everything a state can potentially steal, that's why they exist.  There's no way for them to know that you have a private key.  You don't even have to keep it on a computer.  You just have the seed of the wallet somewhere.  Knowing some words is hard to find out.

What is funny, though, is that if they have to give two examples of crypto currencies, bitcoin and monero come to their mind !
That's quite bullish for monero !

You are either missing the point or have taken his post out of context.

I hear Barclays took a look at XMR a while back... is this true? - sources?

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/monero-opens-were-about-private-you-can-get-1580481

Says somewhere in this article...

Fluffy stated they contacted him.

As for someone like Roger Ver shilling for Monero - it's NOT the first alternate he has shilled for, he used to shill a lot for Ripple and also Applebytes,
I've never shilled for Monero or Ripple, and never even heard of Applebytes until your post.

Welcome to the thread. Smiley I guess the ALT section isn't the dirty red headed step child anymore. Cheesy

MONERO EXPOSED

Monero scam Part 2.

Before i reveal the story about monero scam on alphabay and their admins involvements get ready for heavy dumping on monero price before the ending of September!!!

Heavy dumping starts already, we may see monero with much lower price than now, 0.008 btc

At first I think monero pump and dump.
Now monero demand is fantastic at the level of Eth.
XMR is major alt-coin,  Eth Xmr
Though I support Dash, Xmr is real winner and become Btc partner like Eth.

Why would you support Dash? Do you understand the technology? Maybe read up?

Most DASH supporters sans a small minority were only in for the profits and it has been a cash cow for years for those in the instamine and matsternode creation. Why do you think they are suddenly in XMR now? Because the crypto got better LOL

10254  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: September 09, 2016, 04:20:27 PM
Number of transactions almost doubled in September.

Last week was on average 3.5 transactions / block
Last month was on average 2.04 transactions / block
Last year was on average 0.53 transactions / block

I am sure if way more then doubled compared to July.
This month starts the awakening of monero, the price is really predictable from being down big this day to 0.018 then back at the range of 0.02 in less than 24 hours, easy money for those investors who have a bigger capital,it is good to trade monero this days.

You don't take into account those that accumulated at <.0015, Whales playing with profit always have a huge advantage to those using new money.

I do not believe how people are taking short positions. Almost all the Moneros from lending markets are now employed....  Shocked

Couldn't it be leveraged longs?

Longs need to borrow Bitcoin not Monero

Not if you want to dry up the ammo for the shorters. From what I've gathered on long leveraged is it has to be short term.

Lets go first with 100 millions $, then $10 a coin. After that we can go higher.
Both of those things already happened earlier today.
What's next?

Never thought Roger Ver would comment on something I wrote. Thanks!

I got a ban the day I made this thread...no idea why. They had a problem with me "Necro Bumping" Satoshis old posts. That is a direct quote and I will not name mods names..I feel like some people are really upset about this rise. I have been attacked in my PM box. Oh well...I am officially a XMR holder for life. With the fundamentals surrounding this coin and the great minds now looking at it (Ver, and others) shows me that it does have a chance like I believed. If you believe in something dont let anyone else tell you otherwise folks. Think about the true power of having private money. This has never before been possible in human history. I am more than thankful to be apart of this journey with yall.

We have not yet had any "Big press" regarding XMR and its innovations. I believe in a short time we may see more media outlets paying attention to this coin. Time will tell. Until then, I am investing more and holding this coin as a untouchable private store of wealth.

LOL, don't fool yourself. Great minds have had more than enough time to scope out Monero.
