10241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: September 10, 2016, 09:19:01 PM
I think this is one of the most underrated coins out there.

I think this is one of the most underrated coins out there.

Agree. Primecoin has managed to remain a stable cryptocurrency for quite some time now. It's price has also managed to remain stable in the $0.07 mark. Now if it could just a have a fresh new wallet developed, or some innovation then it would be fantastic. As long as the network remains strong, there should be nothing to worry about.  Cheesy
10242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC] ♠ CasinoCoin v3.0 ♥ 3 Yrs Old ♦ NEW Mandatory Update ♣ on: September 10, 2016, 08:56:32 PM

It would be nice if we get an update, but I doubt it will happen before the launch. Devs aren't allowed to say anything about the subject and GamingCoins hasn't visited the forums a long time. All we as community can do is wait and see  Wink

Yeah. It is a little disappointing to see CSC's price decline drastically after my initial investment when its price was a little higher. Still, I'm patient and won't give up that easily as I have faith in the dev team and the CSC community. Maybe someday, CSC will reach $1 USD and I would have ROI already. In the meantime, the more cheaper the coins the better! Just my opinion.  Roll Eyes
10243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: September 10, 2016, 08:36:29 PM
Magi has been a bit of a rollercoaster today on poloniex. My entire sell chain was almost depleted at one stage before the drop, I was contemplating moving my speculative sells into the chain to keep it going, today's volatility should hopefully allow my chain to be extended a bit further. It seems like Friday is a good day for trading Magi =)

It really seems so. Magi has definitely brought enough interest into the markets to make its price rise. I'm very impressed with Magi so far, being able to reach near $0.03 in just a few days. I think that this is the result of the POI launch date that is about to happen very soon. If only XMG could get back to $0.01 just to get enough coins to participate into the POI at a cheaper price... Roll Eyes

yes we are in the process of trying, to convince Alberto, to refund everybody,
to close new registrations and to first work out the issues and then, if reopen,
do it in a more organized manner, wish us luck

so long

.

Well that gives a relief. As long as issues can be solved accordingly, then it would be no problem. I hope that you guys could start fresh and help deliver a truly unique experience in cloud staking. Hope that I could withdraw my DMD soon!  Smiley
10245  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How much do you earn with mining? on: September 10, 2016, 07:59:55 PM
Not anything right now, just got my U1 and U3 running for gambling/solo mining Smiley

Those are good ones to begin with, but not enough to make profit out of them. I remember when I got my first block erupter when I was a noob. I've always thought that I could make 1 BTC in a matter of days, until I figured out that there were several factors that limited my profitability such as network hashrate, mining difficulty, power cost, among others.

Thanks for your reply, mate. Hope that you have lots of fun mining.  Smiley
10246  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My portable Raspberry Pi setup for mining on: September 10, 2016, 07:21:16 PM

That would be quite an interesting concept to do to print a paper wallet once a certain amount of coins has been received. And would reduce the amount of money lost from hacking once the node and mining hardware is operational.
However, again, that printer would require more electricity which may then make it less portable.

I also have beenunable to get the GPIO pins to work as well (apart from redirecting the power of oneof te pins to the USB sockets).

True, but maybe if I use one of those small printers used for receipts then it may use very little amount of power. I was thinking about using one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/58mm-Mini-Portable-Bluetooth-4-0-Wireless-Receipt-Thermal-Printer-for-Android-EA-/262163057371?hash=item3d0a22cadb:g:nw4AAOSwHQ9WWCKO

It is a very small printer that uses its own battery for power. Basically, it is mainly used for printing receipts but I could make it to print small paper wallets in the form of a receipt containing both public and private keys. As for GPIOs, I think that it would be of no luck to try getting a GPU to work with it, which is why I think that it is best to stick onto external ASIC miners (or coin staking) at the moment on the Pi.

I have been looking at this concept for a few months to utilise some old mining gear, some minor solar panels (~200W in total) and establish some nodes (especially PoS wallets I have had for a few years).

Mind if I get some more data of you such as Pi OS & miner you are using?

The OS I'm using is the default Raspbian OS. It has been operating under default settings, using a 32GB microSD card as its storage. The Pi is powered via an external 10,000mah power bank and the connection to the Android tablet is done via USB tethering using a VNC app to connect to the Pi with an assigned static IP address (make sure to setup tightvncserver on your Pi for this) With the VNC, I can use the tablet as both display and input (mouse, keyboard) for the Pi.

I've only been using the Pi with ASIC miners that have very low hashrate, which only serves the purpose for fun and learning. CGMiner is the mining software I've been using for my block erupter miner, and now most recently an Antminer U3 I've bought used from ebay.

Just in case, here are the instructions to setup CGMiner on the Pi:

Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Install dependencies:
sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0-0-dev libusb-1.0-0 libcurl4-openssl-dev libncurses5-dev libudev-dev screen libtool automake pkg-config libjansson-dev screen

Clone cgminer from here:
git clone https://github.com/bitmaintech/cgminer

type the following (input your own pool, username and password):
sudo ./cgminer -o POOL -u USERNAME -p PASSWORD
10247  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Memorycoin ★ Modern CPU PoW ★ COMPLETELY GPU/ASIC FREE ★ NO Free PoS on: September 10, 2016, 07:03:49 PM

Memorycoin has been delisted from poloniex and is still not listed on Novaexchange. Do you know why the owner hasn't added MMC?

Well, that wraps it up for MemoryCoin. With the delisting of MMC from Poloniex, now there is no market that has enough trading activity/volume to keep it moving. As per CoinMarketCap, the only exchange available is BTER but there is not enough liquidity in there. Now all that is left to do is hold onto your coins and wait. Hopefully, another popular exchange will add MMC and we could get back on track.  Undecided

10249  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Krypton KR - Smart Contracts, DAPPs Development for Business Systems & IoT on: September 08, 2016, 11:00:52 PM

amacar2,

Because Krypton has a FIX for the new type of 51% attack against Ethereum-based blockchains, KR WILL NOT be moving to another protocol. We will not be moving to a Bitcoin-based POS coin. KR will remain a fork of Ethereum!

Professor Emin Gun Sirer of Cornell University, himself, has provided me with the solution to Krypton's attack problem.

We are saved!

 Cheesy

The solution employs checkpoints. You can read about them here.

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Checkpoint_Lockin

and here

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=437

Thanks for the update, covertress! I'm glad to see your commitment towards making Krypton a solid and stable project for the long term. This fix is definitely good news and I hope that we could get back to trading KR soon to keep the price moving towards new heights. I'm glad to have invested on Krypton, and will continue to do so for the long term. Wish you great success with this project!  Cheesy
10250  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zion - Project Zion - CryptoNote-Based Tor Network Currency on: September 08, 2016, 10:28:09 PM
is the funds kept in escrow?
has anything been developed?
what is to be done with the funds?
Funds will be kept in escrow and a public address available on completion, so investors are able to see just how much has/is being used.

Development is ongoing, will have the tor market link to show in a few days before crowdsale completion, just to give a little insight and to show development is actually ongoing  Cool

funds will be spent only on coin & marketplace maintenance/development over a long period, private server for the tor market, also for a exclusive listing on bittrex marketing & graphic design/revamp.

President & Chief Executive Officer

Thanks for the update dev. Hopefully, once we are near to crowdsale completion we will get a sneek peak of the upcoming features that ZION will bring. I have the feeling that this crypto is going to be huge so it is best to buy cheap ICO coins before its price starts to go to the moon once it hits exchanges. What I like the most about this coin is the marketplace. Hope that everything goes on accordingly towards long term success.  Cheesy
10251  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your best investment strategy? on: September 08, 2016, 08:04:16 PM

It is unpredictable and that is what makes it exciting and if you got the right side of it then you can have lots of profit. Still I would choose to just invest in different crypto currency rather than commodities. It is getting harder to get a percentage there and it needs a lot of money to feel the gain. I would also pick crypto so that I can manage it by myself.

I guess you're right. I've found out that volatility may turn out to become very profitable in the end if you take advantage of it. Everyday, I practice trading cryptocurrencies until I find a strategy that works for me in order to gain profits. Also, I'm looking into using CAT towards automating my trades. As of today, Bitcoin has been the best investment I've ever made.  Smiley
10252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POS coin that you don't need wallet open 24/7? on: September 07, 2016, 10:30:37 PM

Here's some good information : https://wiki.decred.org/Introduction#Meritocratic_Governance

Imo Decred seems to be one of the best projects around

Thank you again, mate. This governance system from DCR looks a lot better (in my opinion) than Dash's decentralized governance. It has a pretty good mining algo, as well as being able to stake your DCR stake. I think that it is pretty undervalued in my opinion, but a good chance to get some cheap coins.  Grin

NXT ofcourse.

The only one having no inflation, miners are payed with the transaction fees only.

This means, you don't have to validate transactions to keep your share of the currency.

So no need to have client open.

I've never thought that you could stake your NXT without the need to leave your wallet open 24/7. So that means that I can forge for example 10,000 NXT and then be able to receive stakes the next day without opening NXT wallet? If so, then it is pretty awesome. Also, NXT will be changing soon to Ardor so I think that this will make it a profitable journey for early NXT holders.  Smiley
10253  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your best investment strategy? on: September 07, 2016, 10:22:03 PM
I simply dont rely on bitcoin price to rise. With that way of thinking you can stop the laziness in your mind. Get it moving. Dont listen to what people say that you just need to invest and leave it. Look for more that can make it grow more.

Yes that would be ideal of course. Most Bitcoin enthusiasts (including myself) think about its price to rise in a couple of months or years. But they don't have in mind that it could crash drastically as a result of an exchange being hacked. (Mt. Gox, Cryptsy, Bitfinex, etc) With this in mind, it is best to look for ways to hedge your Bitcoin towards fiat currency, such as using a pegged asset like Tether or BitUSD to minimize these risks. This will protect your from events such as BTC's price falling down and thus you can rest assured that your investment will be safe.

Nowadays, while Bitcoin mining is not profitable anymore you can make your BTC grow by working as a freelancer, participating in signature campaigns, using PoS coins, and more. Just my opinion.  Grin
10254  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My portable Raspberry Pi setup for mining on: September 07, 2016, 10:12:16 PM

The GPIO pins are probably the best part of the PI for this.
I think there are live pins, neutral pins and pins to transfer data so they may be good for a connection to a GPU.
I'm not sure about this but if you research it I'm sure you can find something (BTW, the power needed to for the converters comes from one of those GPIO pins anyway).

Thanks for the info. But I think this requires some knowledge in electronics, right? Because I'm still a noob when it comes to working with electronics stuff such as soldering and working with the GPIO pins. However, if it is possible to have a workaround like this then it will be a blast! I will figure this out and keep you updated.

I'm still waiting for the price of the water and salt generator (battery) to be announced as I can't wait to try it with my little experiment. Now, I want to add sort of like a miniature printer onto the Pi to generate paper wallets instantly from within it. This last thing is optional, and mostly for fun.  Cheesy
10255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MonetaryUnit [MUE] Quark based, CPU mining, faucet, explorer, pool, wallet on: September 06, 2016, 08:43:40 PM
Just a heads up wrt the testing phase of the new code for migration to X11 & MasterNodes.

We are being very thorough and also making some tweaks to the code we know will be beneficial.

With this there is a slight delay before we make the beta test public and we are running 7-10 days behind schedule.
Sorry about that, we have no plans to rush this without doing it right.

No need to rush for it. As long as it is stable, there should be no problem. Thanks for the update. MUE prices right now have been on a steady decline but relatively stable between the $0.000543 - $0.000580 mark. I hope that this would change once we migrate towards the X11 mining algo and masternodes. It will definitely attract both new and old investors alike.  Smiley
10256  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My portable Raspberry Pi setup for mining on: September 06, 2016, 06:36:58 PM

I think it was Eth that requires lots of RAM with the GPU to function better (though I may be wrong).

I think AMD radeon is one that is used often for mining.

I'd also advise you know how you could plug the GPUs into the raspberry pi (probably through research)?

Well I think that plugging external GPUs on the Raspberry Pi is not possible yet, but I'm going to give it a little research to see what I can achieve with this. In the meantime, I'm setting up a GPU mining rig with an ASROCK motherboard I have lying around using a single AMD Radeon Nano to see what would be the results mining ETH or ETC.

Based on what I have seen so far, it may be possible to connect a GPU to a Raspberry Pi using convertors that turn a USB port to ExpressCard and then plug in a PCI-E to ExpressCard convertor. However, I doubt that the performance if the GPU would be the same using this method  Undecided

Save as much as you can then when the time is right... BUY as much bitcoin as you can while waiting for the increase to happen.
Isn't that the most sensible thing to do that most with any common sense does? Wink
Unfortunately, the time where the opportunity to buy has already lapse, now that the price of bitcoin is starting to rise again you can buy but you will only earn a little income when you sell it in a short period of time, if you are earning online better save it because we might see another big increase and might hit $700 mark again.

Correct. That is why I think that in the moment, it is best to hold your Bitcoins as prices are increasing each time slowly. Then, when a desired price range is reached, you can sell your BTC if you want for profit. In my opinion, I think that the best investment strategy would be investing into Bitcoin myself. I am very optimistic that the price will reach $1000+ someday.  Grin
10258  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POS coin that you don't need wallet open 24/7? on: September 06, 2016, 05:58:52 PM

You have to lock your coins. This  is blockchain interest. You have to wait till lock time end. Further details you can find here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1317918.0;topicseen

Thanks for sharing this with me mate. I'm looking into how it works and I have to say that it has really brought my attention. Considering that Hodlcoin is cheap right now, I might grab a few coins to test this out. Hope that I'll make the wise investment decision doing this.  Cheesy

Decred, you can delegate voting right to stakepool. Stakepools only have voting right, so it's not possible to lose your coins.

Sounds cool. I'm researching more about this and so far it looks very promising. This is somewhat similar to NEM's delegated harvesting by the way, but worth the shot. Another good thing that DCR has is decentralized governance where users can decide upon the future of the digital currency.  Smiley
10259  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MonetaryUnit [MUE] Quark based, CPU mining, faucet, explorer, pool, wallet on: September 05, 2016, 11:48:51 PM
Hi, one of our devs pjcltd has that all set up ready for go live and will be available through his site www.mp-hosting.co.uk
I'm sure others will also come onboard to offer similar services.

Good to know about this. Thanks for the info! I'm getting very excited with the development of MUE and the amount of interest it has obtained over the last days. It will be up to buying and holding MUE for now (as price has decreased today)

Want to earn up to 1400% ROI by investing in a MUE MasterNode? Yeah me too! Cheesy (though unlikely)

I've been looking at theoretical returns based on multiple scenarios set out below.

If you discard the outliers and look at the median results I think it's sensible to say year 1 ROI for a MasterNode should be between 20-35%.

While that is a very healthy and attractive return, things get much more interesting when you take into account a growing MUE price.
Several experienced & trusted crypto traders expect MUE to easily hit 1000+ sats in the first year (not guaranteed obviously).

So when you take into consideration a ten fold increase in price (and assuming the BTC price remains stagnant) you could argue the first year ROI could be 200-350%.

What if the BTC price hits ATH over the next 6 months and is trading at $1200, all of a sudden you could argue a year ROI of 400-700%!?

So, back to facts & figures and ignoring optimism, please see the below, and those data alone look pretty good to sway investors to buy MUE to invest in MasterNodes.

Very interesting chart. This will make it a very profitable journey as MUE price increases (not to mention earnings from Masternodes as well) thus making it one of the best investments right now. Since the amount is 500k for masternodes, I would only need 235,000 MUE and I'm complete. Looking forward to the this project grow in the upcoming days.  Cheesy
10260  Economy / Economics / Re: What is your best investment strategy? on: September 05, 2016, 11:35:08 PM
Stocks are good to invest.

Now that you mention this, I've been looking for a way to invest into stocks with my Bitcoin. Imagine being able to invest into any stock such as Facebook, Google, etc just using your Bitcoin. As far as I can tell, this doesn't exist yet but once it does it will definitely make it very convenient to invest into them.

Another good investment strategy would be, in my opinion, to invest into a casino's bankroll as it is a pretty good opportunity to earn some profits for long term.  Smiley
