10281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO was a total failure, but a more robust one could emerge on: August 30, 2016, 06:25:51 PM

dont mind about minecache... he is just a mETH head. don't expect any valid argument about anything he may say.

about the topic,
well, i dont see that happening, at least not for now. The main reason isnt eth or ETC, is simple because with the dao fail the whole concept got "affected". If someone try it again, i hardly believe they will have investors and even if they got any, wont be much.

Yeah. The DAO has managed to damage to good name of a concept that would have turned out to become successful. Now if another one emerges, people would think twice before investing any money into it. As of ETH, it has remained very silent since the hard fork occurred with no announcements of any updates whatsoever. I wonder if soon we will see ETH announcing the release of Casper and the transition towards Metropolis release. Even so, I wonder what will be of ETH and ETC as time goes by.  Roll Eyes
10282  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO was a total failure, but a more robust one could emerge on: August 30, 2016, 12:03:13 PM
We all know what happened to The DAO which caused a big sum of ETH to be stolen by a hacker, and thus it resulted into a disaster that caused ETH to loose credibility and separate itself from the rest of the crypto community.

All of this was just a result of security flaws, from with the contract's source code.

Now, I think that it can be improved on and emerge as a whole new DAO, but this time not on the ETH chain, but on the true original chain that is Ethereum Classic. If devs, take their time to analyse the contract code, they may be able to fix security flaws and make The DAO a reality on the ETC chain.

Maybe it won't have the same name as the ETH counterpart, but it could be a great way to make the "DAO concept" to become a reality.

What do you think?  Smiley
I've no idea what drugs you are smoking but they are seriously affecting your cognitive thought processes. Seek immediate medical assistance.

Lol.  I know that this may sound somewhat ridiculous or out of mind,  but I just imagined a possibility of a new DAO emerging into the near future. Even if it's not based on ETH,  or ETC still it could gain tracction and make the concept of a DAO to become a reality.  Speaking of which,  Wings looks like a very interesting platform for new DAOs to emerge.   Smiley
10283  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO was a total failure, but a more robust one could emerge on: August 30, 2016, 02:33:33 AM

Yep, I think next year we can see the first sidechains working. In 0.13.1 we will have segwit.

Sounds great. This will be a major step towards Bitcoin scalability and mainstream adoption. I hope that after this, BTC price would increase up to $1000. In the meantime, it would be up towards getting cheap BTC.  Cheesy

the dao never got to carry out its major balls up which was to invest in eth projects.

as far as I can tell there has hardly ever been a crypto project that ever came up with anything approaching returning the original cash injection let alone any actual profit.

Yeah it seems so. Still, the concept of a DAO could come up sometime in the future but this time it will be perfected making it a fully efficient way to handle anything decentralized and autonomously. Imagine the possibilities this would have in the near future.  Roll Eyes
10284  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The DAO was a total failure, but a more robust one could emerge on: August 30, 2016, 12:16:59 AM
I believe ETC is going to eventually rise, and we will see people moving from ETC to ETH, at least during the pump. Im not sure about long term performance. I honestly don't like both anymore, but some dapps are really interesting.

Yeah. Dapps is perhaps the only thing that makes ETH and ETC good in my opinion. If we could do this with Bitcoin, then it will be a blast and so there would be no need for ETH/ETC. Rootstock is being actively developed and I hope that once it goes public, it will make Bitcoin a smart contract platform too. Imagine the number of dapps that could be developed on top of the Bitcoin protocol.  Smiley

Well we will see that price if it will stay long at this level.. i am late that to herer that XMR right now is growing but this is just like the same as last year that they are increase again back and drop again. .

That could probably happen soon. Still, I think that once ZCash comes public, it will be a major competitor against XMR and DASH and then we'll see which coin is the best anon coin. The one that gets adopted most by the dark markets will be the one at the top, in my opinion.  Grin
10286  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins that require wallet to be open 24/7? on: August 29, 2016, 11:34:28 PM
how do you stake Qora?

Just as any other PoS coin, you'll need a balance of Qora in order to stake (I mean forge) some coins. The method is called forging in Qora. Some features of Qora reminds me of NXT. You can look more about it in here: www.qora.org
10287  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POS coin that you don't need wallet open 24/7? on: August 29, 2016, 11:30:34 PM
There is Tekcoin which gives you the ability to stake your coins every 30 days without leaving your wallet open 24//7. And, NEM's offline harvesting makes it a pretty good feature to get staking offline meaning that there is no need to leaving your NEM client open 24/7. So my list of favorite coins of these type would be the ones that the OP mentioned earlier + Tekcoin as well.  Smiley

what about poloniex. Why price is still 3k , what you are doing wrong , mavbe you need good manager like krypton , who did price from 2k till 30k
Magi likes to grow step by step. No rush but long-term.
If a currency raises fast the risk might be a huge drop.
Think it would be good for Magi to have more managers.
In fact everybody in our awesome Magi community is a sort of manager. If more people work together the better the results.

That is what makes a cryptocurrency successful. Working together as a community to help the coin grow and remain for the long term is an ideal step towards making it a success. Magi has been doing great during the last days with a steady price. Hope to see the Proof of Interest Campaign become a reality real soon!  Cheesy

You can try QORA too,you need to open wallet 24/7 to stake .

QORA is a pretty good PoS coin. It has many advanced features like naming service and more. Still, I wonder why it is very undervalued at the moment. Maybe it is because of its supply, or perhaps it needs more marketing. Nevertheless, QORA is a good coin to stake in your wallet 24/7  Smiley

I'm sure I can get Poloniex to keep the coin listed if I contact them though.

I'm still around, I've been extremely busy and I've attempted to support Memorycoin's value on the markets while away. There were several issues with the old Memorycoin servers/nodes that I had just recently fixed. The forums are back online as well as several Memorycoin nodes.

I didn't think you guys would stick around unless an experienced Dev was still able to manage it. If anyone wants to give input I'm available for PM.

Glad to see the dev back! it is good for a cryptocurrency to have an active dev and community in order for it to succeed for the long term. With this in mind, we could see MMC remain stable for years to come.

I hope that in the future we could get pretty new features for MMC including but not limited to the following:

1. Online Wallet
2. Mobile Wallet (Android/iOS)

Just my opinion.  Wink
10292  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My portable Raspberry Pi setup for mining on: August 29, 2016, 05:24:38 PM
It'll use a maimum of 42W if that's what you mean. I think that there's probably something you could install for the rapsberry pi to monitor it as I think that's where it's power would come from.
Compared to the price of a Pi, it's a fairly expensive piece of equipment for you to get.

I guess you're right. It makes me wonder how long would it take me to reach ROI with this miner and if its worth the price. Better off, I think that I can do better with my own mining rig using Radeon GPUs. I've seen that ETH is the most profitable crypto to mine right now with GPUs, so I'll give it a try. Still, the Raspberry Pi would be spared for fun and learning only as I think that I cannot accomplish something greater than just that.  Grin
10293  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which crypto is truly anonymous? on: August 29, 2016, 05:20:35 PM
i voted for monero, but navcoin seems a good one too. they have a good bounty to anyone capable of trace a transaction and still nobody could do it.

Monero is doing really good right now, especially after the announcement that it will be used by 2 major dark markets. Prices have been increasing over the last days leaving it close to the $10 mark. Seems like there is a bright future for XMR...or maybe not.  Roll Eyes
10294  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MonetaryUnit [MUE] Quark based, CPU mining, faucet, explorer, pool, wallet on: August 28, 2016, 12:11:26 AM
What will likely happen is we'll open the coin swap system while both the MUE-quark and the MUE-x11 networks are both live and maintained by hash.
People then have the opportunity to send to our coin swap system (URL to be announced later) to swap their MUE -quark to MUE-x11 and withdraw to their MUE-x11 wallets.
The MUE-x11 block reward will probably be zero for a week or two during the transition.
We'll ask the exchanges to pause trading, then ask them to update their wallets.
Then trading will be reopened once the exchanges have updated their wallets.
The coin swap opportunity will be open for a while but we will only accept coins generated before block "n" (hopefully 1750000).

I think that makes sense, happy to hear feedback and suggestions from any and all.

Sounds like it is going to be a smooth swap process. Can't wait for all the masternode goodness to come up for MUE. The way I see it, MUE will be much more valuable once migration completes. It will be a very popular altcoin among the top lists in marketcap. Once we're migrated, I could finally use my brand new Baikal miner once it arrives to mine X11 MUE.

Speaking of which, it would be nice to have a lightweight wallet for MUE in the process.

P.S. The new logo looks fantastic. It is simple and clean.  Cheesy
10295  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying XRP on: August 27, 2016, 11:55:30 PM

what a joke.... there's no such a thing like fully decentralized these days.

If you mean by mining centralization, then yes. However, I was referring more to the fact that there is no central company behind Litecoin, unlike Ripple. Maybe I've exaggerated a little bit by saying "fully decentralized". There is nothing 100% fully decentralized, whereas there is no method that is 100% fully anonymous.  Smiley
10296  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Buying XRP on: August 27, 2016, 10:58:16 PM
likely cuz XRP is grade A premined shit.

You got that right. Also, being a centralized coin they can manipulate the marketcap, and coin supply their own way. That is why XRP is the top 3 coin in marketcap only because of this reason. Other than that, it would have been dead last in marketcap. Perhaps the only thing that XRP has is very fast transactions, but that can be obtained with Litecoin which is better and fully decentralized. Just my opinion.  Grin
10297  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins that require wallet to be open 24/7? on: August 27, 2016, 10:29:20 PM
Hi I'm looking into altcoins that need your Wales open 24/7. Good ones. Clam. Maid. And coin magi. Can anyone else suggest any more that haven't been pumped and dumped in the past.

You can always try Diamond. Right now, it has a relatively stable price (the majority of the times stays between $0.25 USD and $0.27 USD) plus it has a very limited supply which may cause its price to go even higher in the future. It has an APR stake rate of 25% annually.

Also, there is Peercoin which is the original PoS coin that firstly came with this concept.

Hope this helps.  Smiley
10298  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which crypto is truly anonymous? on: August 27, 2016, 10:14:48 PM

Dark Wallet is an option, but still all you've done is created anonymized transactions, which have been around for years now. You can mix coins on the dark net, you just use the onion link on the mixing sites instead of their clear net URLs.

XMR.to has done nothing innovative or different, in fact it appears to be an even bigger hassle than just mixing your BTC on one of the mixer sites via Tor. None of these services or coins offer a true seamless solution to actual anonymous and decentralized ecommerce. The darknet is a $5-10 billion+ market, add on top of that other people who want to buy or sell non-illegal things anonymously and without the interference of Ebay or Etsy and you're talking a huge market cap. This is the point i'm trying to make.  You have one project that could potentially address these issues and it's current market cap is around $1.6MM.  That to me is worth putting some money behind; even if it only captures a fraction of the total market share you'd see an ROI of unprecedented heights.

Thanks for your reply. Most recently, I have seen that Bitcoin devs are working into implementing Confidential Transactions into Bitcoin, which may improve its privacy. As for XMR, I have noticed that it has increased in price substantially right after the announcement that dark net markets will begin accepting it. I guess that anonymous cryptocurrencies do have a bright future after all, especially Monero in my opinion.  Roll Eyes
10299  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My portable Raspberry Pi setup for mining on: August 27, 2016, 09:46:55 PM

First I want to say that I liked your Raspberry Pi 3 mining setup. Yeah I know it's for fun but I would be really happy to see more people have fun with things like that.

The Baikal Miner is a more serious thing and it costs $500, which is not nothing, but if you can afford it that's great. I think those Baikal Miners are pretty good for mining DASH and I also think that among all crypos DASH is one of those who probably have the bright future. At least that's a fact that the market capitalization of DASH is around 80 millions of USD, so it's definitely something.

Good luck with your projects! I will be following the progress with big interest.

Yes. The Baikal miner would be of great use to me for Dash mining, and also serves as a multi algorithm miner for other cryptocurrencies. This will be something that I will work on during the following months. I will share my progress from within this thread once I get at least the miner and some additional equipment (especially the water + salt battery) to keep you all updated.

By the way, do you or anyone know of a power meter that would be recommended in order to monitor the miner's power usage?   Roll Eyes

Hey, what about me? It has been several days since I have requested a DMD withdrawal but up to this date, I haven't received anything yet. On the Staisybit site, the DMD wallet says Forked. Is it something I should worry about? Please help, as need to withdraw my DMD balance to my main wallet ASAP.

By the way, the amount requested was: 21.4 DMD
