10301  Other / New forum software / Re: Can we "Like" a post? on: May 25, 2014, 07:44:23 AM
I'm actually working on the design for this exact feature. As of right now, it'll be tied into the reputation system so that +1 on a forum post actually means something. There's also some algorithmic juice that'll use the downvote (or -1 depending on which is a better metric) to kill troll posts and accounts. It's not finalized yet so comments and opinions are welcome.

Hmm... Not so sure about that. What do you mean by 'kill posts/accounts'? What's to stop people just trying to 'kill' accounts/posts of people they just don't like?

http://youtu.be/IkgHQy6JtWU

Short update. He's been cast as the lead in a film so he's having to put the podcast and audition process for the new host on hold.

Anyone seen that Riley Rewind film he did? He's apparently pitching it to try get it made into a tv series.
10303  Other / Off-topic / Re: WHAT MOVIE TO WATCH - NOW! on: May 24, 2014, 10:40:06 PM
If you can't find any decent recommendations in the other thread then what makes you think you'll get any in this one? A little info on what films you do or don't like would be helpful to tailor suggestions.
10304  Other / Off-topic / Re: Help with a faulty laptop on: May 24, 2014, 10:26:16 PM
I prefer desktops too but there's not really much space in my room for one the way it's laid out at the moment. Might need to make some space, but I do like having a laptop so I can work in bed haha and take it with me. Could do with both really. Laptops aren't ideal for heavy usage.
10305  Other / Off-topic / Re: Help with a faulty laptop on: May 24, 2014, 10:20:35 PM
Yeah, they're all pretty old and are usually not worth fixing especially with the rapebastard rates people charge to fix them. I'll probably take it to a couple of shops soon and if it's not cheap to fix just sell them as faulty/ spares and repairs and buy a new one.
10306  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] Member account on: May 24, 2014, 10:10:02 PM
How much activity? are you open to trades?

Well he stated it'll be a full member in two weeks so probably around 106 activity.
10307  Other / Off-topic / Re: Help with a faulty laptop on: May 24, 2014, 09:59:49 PM
No, the screen was dodgy, but it's the rest of the laptop that's now not working. I doubt simply replacing the screen will magically make it boot up. What makes you think it's the video card?

i don't think it's the video card. i think most likely your laptop is fried. it could be your power supply that's faulty, especially if your battery is showing signs of wear. if you plug it in and leave the laptop off, do you see any LED lights that turn on? too bad you're in europe, where latops cost more  Cheesy

might as well open the thing up.. probably not very difficult.

There was one light that occasionally blinked when it's off and not plugged in (not now though). I don't know what good opening it up will do. I've opened plenty up before but it's not like I could visually spot the problem, and everytime I take them apart something else seems to break haha. Got two other faulty laptops that are currently in worse condition than when I opened them up to get the harddrives out haha.
10308  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] btctalk forum Member account on: May 24, 2014, 09:51:00 PM
It's allowed, but certain members frown upon it and like to leave people who buy/sell accounts negative feedback.
10309  Economy / Services / Re: LF Escrow service on: May 24, 2014, 09:48:32 PM
Escrow.ms seems to be a popular choice now, but the full list of escrows can be found here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0
10310  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTS] btctalk forum Member account on: May 24, 2014, 09:45:31 PM
Not a good idea to state the account you're selling as you'll likely get it neg-bombed (unless that isn't your account and you're doing it on purpose  Grin).
10311  Other / Off-topic / Re: What Are Some of The Craziest Religions Out There? on: May 24, 2014, 09:32:03 PM
Christianity and Islam, these people actually believe there's an invisible man up in the sky watching us!

inb4 religious people rage Tongue

Yes, Islam is very religious religion, islam people are so assiduous to their god, they could easily die for It, so I think It's pretty crazy.

Haha. As opposed to not very religious religions?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster

I think this could be abit of a crazy religion, but since i dont believe in any religion i think they are all crazy!

Yeah, but that's essentially just a "religion" of atheists trolling.

Silly mistake by Casillas. Keepers love to come off their line to get a bit of the action but the often pay for it. He did well to get back and nearly scoop it away though.

10314  Other / Off-topic / Re: Oscar Pistorius case on: May 24, 2014, 09:17:43 PM
It is reasonable to think  he has a mental disorder

Funny how it only comes to light after he's murderd someone. Didn't seem to hinder his life that much before.
10315  Other / Meta / Re: Secret trick to spamming Bitcointalk without getting banned ;) on: May 24, 2014, 08:33:30 PM
It's not hidden. Everybodies trust doesn't show up on certain subforums including meta, but if you click on a users profile it'll always be there.
10316  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: May 24, 2014, 04:01:00 PM
I see post count is now written just below Activity. I don't think this isn't related and won't affect the current activity requirements for each member status?

Well it effects it to a certain extent. You get 1 point per post up until a max of 14, but if your post count is higher by 14 or more than your activity then all you need is one post in the new two week period to get the full 14 activity points.
10317  Other / Meta / Re: Using offsite images instead of posting as text. on: May 24, 2014, 03:46:00 PM

This sounds like a bit of a ballache to go through. If your reasons for doing such are true it would be easier just to proofread your posts a couple of times before submitting.
10318  Other / New forum software / Re: Hide thread function on: May 24, 2014, 03:40:16 PM
Yeah, hadn't thought about that but a hide/ignore feature would be useful. Would unclutter a lot of sub forums where you're tired of seeing the same old threads bumped.

That is a great idea! I would love to get rid of all that stupid altcoin announcements.

You can already hide subforums if you weren't already aware.
10319  Other / Off-topic / Re: Uruguay to sell marijuana tax-free to undercut drug traffickers on: May 24, 2014, 02:50:23 PM
You can get weed for $1 a gram in Uruguay?  Shocked That can't be right.

The Uruguay legalisation was briefly discussed over in the politics section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=613224.msg6818564#msg6818564
Well here in India, I can give you weed for less than 1dollar/100gram. Weed is almost free here Grin , but the government generally discourages the use of weed except for medicinal purposes.

But is it good weed?
Have you guys ever smoked weed from the amsterdam coffeeshops?
When I hear indian weed I think its very bad weed Cheesy
Because here in holland we have many choices, like you can see on this menu from the dampkring in Amsterdam:

http://www.coffeeshopmenus.org/Dampkring/Menus/Dampkring04272014ScottishStoner.jpg

Do any of those strains actually taste like they say they do? Weed just seems to taste like weed to me, but people in Amsterdam seem to describe them like they do wines  Cheesy.
10320  Economy / Services / Re: [PrimeDice] [Highest Paid Signature] Earn up to 2.4 BTC/Month by Posting on: May 24, 2014, 02:40:27 PM
Updown is paying apparently bit is tempting to go in all honesty. .00135 is a lot more than .001 per post. It really adds up when I make 100 or 200 posts in a month. I haven't heard anything about PD changing rates so we'll see.

Stunna didn't change his pay scale when Ritz was ahead of him. Nor when Up/Down jumped into the lead. Wonder if Stunna'll finally update the pay scale.

Yes he did. He did it last time but waited for Ritz to pay out at that rate, but after upping the rates Ritz did so for the next month. Maybe Stunna is waiting for another payout from Ritz but there's other deals to contented with now anyway. Ritz has yet to up his rates to compete with the new deals too.

Usually, Ritz will up his rates near the end of the month. The rumor is is that he's going to do exactly that, but it's seven days from payday, so it's kind of unlikely...

Unless a Wild Stunna is found in the tall grass.

You shouldn't listen to rumors. Looks like Ritz is ceasing operations at the end of the month: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=499007.msg6912855#msg6912855

Well that really clears up alot of rumors about Ritz increasing their prices.

I'm confused where rumours come from in a world where we write everything in public forum posts.

Rumors ie wild speculation based off little-to-nothing. This is Bitcoin Land, it's how shit works around here. All Ritz said on the matter was that an update will be coming soon, thus leading to assumptions.

You shouldn't listen to rumors. Looks like Ritz is ceasing operations at the end of the month: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=499007.msg6912855#msg6912855

I'm afraid this might be the beginning of signature campaigns winding up... Some new players on the block are urgently wanted! Roll Eyes

Don't start more rumors  Cheesy. It's not good to see competition drop off (for us at least), but there's been a few new deals pop up recently and hopefully there'll be a few more.
